Track List Alphabetizing itself in Library

Hi,
When I import tracks, I sometimes rename them
When I do this, my iTunes library will alphabetize itself and if I want to burn them from my library I will not know the original order.
If I create a Playlist 1st and import them into that before I change the names there is no problem in the play list but in the Music Library, they will be alphabetized. Is there anyway to keep them in the proper order once I have changed the track names?
Example:
1. TRACK 1 (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band)
2. TRACK 2 (With A Little Help From My Friends)
3. TRACK 3 (Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds)
4. TRACK 4 (Getting Better)
5. TRACK 5 (Fixing A Hole)
would be rearranged as follows:
Fixing A Hole
Getting Better
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
With A Little Help From My Friends
If I wanted to burn the album in its proper order, I would have to find the track listings somewhere and arrange them manually.
Can they be kept in their proper order in the music library after the names have changed?
Thanks in advance

What's wrong with the names that the artist gave the songs originally?
Do your tracks have numbers in the info window (select a track and press cmd & i keys) like this:

  • How does one change the font size for folders and/or file lists in the Bookmarks Library?

How does one change the font size for folders and/or file lists in the '''Bookmarks''' Library?
Since the upgrade to version 9.0.1 of Firefox, the Bookmarks feature changes are confusing me. They seem to be confusing themselves as well. The list of bookmarks has changed. The font size is so small that my aging eyes cannot read it without fogging the screen with my breath. Some folders are out of alphabetical order (where I know they were previously good), and some are missing altogether (folders to which I frequently add references).
As for missing or deranged files or folders, was there something that I should have done or now need to do to recover those after the upgrade (or before)?
    With regard to font size,
    1. there is no “Edit Bookmarks” or like option to edit the list in this version
    2. the “zoom” option in the “view” list of functions is greyed out when in “Show All Bookmarks” window
    3. expanding the browser window has no effect on font size
    4. “Preferences” settings for font size has no effect in that window either, including advanced settings
    5. “Help” offers none that I can find.
    Can any of you Help?!?

  • Why Can't I Import Track 10 from my Music Library?

I have 350 albums in my computer music library and I can't import any track 10 song from an album to iTunes. The message I get is: "The file 10 <Whatever Song Name>.wma cannot be imported because it does not appear to be a valid exported file." This happens on every track 10 title in my library and on one track 1 title that is 14 minutes long. Help!

I am a PC user, but this may help you??:
I am having the same problem with track 10 on two Springsteen CDs that would not play in my desktop PC (one was a dual dvd, the other a regular CD). So first, to get them to work, I had to find a source (my laptop) that would "see" the CD. Then I ripped to Windows Media, then copied onto an external hard drive, then imported into iTUnes.
Everything went well until track 10 on both (After that, the rest of the tracks imported okay on one CD, and then on the other track 11 had a problem, but the rest ok).I found a posting (see below for the link) and it solved the problem on track 10 on both (basically I changed the track# to another number else in the Properties/ Summary/ Advanced section). However it didn't work for that one track 11. So if anyone has ideas on that, I'd appreciate it. I tried fiddling with all the differnt categories in Summary (track name, album name, etc) and rename the song itself, removing the number, but to no avail. Here is the posting that I found the solution on

  • Track listing

I have an odd problem with the track listing on some of the albums in my library. The track listing for certain albums is correct in my itunes library, but the order is incorrect on my iPod. Does anyone know why this is?

See my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic Tracks out of sequence.

  • Bug in the "Tracks" list?

The tracks list is non-functioning on my iPod Touch. Possibly because if its length or possibly because of swedish characters in song names, but either way, the list bar on the side with the alphabet on does not work properly. It only reacts at about Q and above that I will only get thrown to A. Which is not nice when you have 2600 songs to go through... it takes a while.
Is this a known bug? Is there a fix? Don't tell me to do a search or something, that's beside the point, I want the alphabet-shortcut-bar to work!

  • Audiobooks in the "music" app display tracks in alphabetical, not actual track order

Since updating my iPad 1 to iOS 5.0.1 my audiobooks (Teaching Company) display in the "music" app in alphabetical, not actual track order.  They display correctly in iTunes from my synced computer.  I've tried designating them as compilations and not as compilations, and either way, the same result.  Further, when I hit play on the first track listed, it does not go to the second track, rather it just stops.

  • Why are the 3 tracks I bought on iTunes a yr ago are missing from the track list just imported from a CD of the whole album ?

1st time question on here...I bought 3 songs off iTunes from the album Feedback by Jurassic 5 last year and those songs are in my librabry. Sometime later I purchased the whole album but on CD. Tonight when I imported the CD and it asked to replace existing duplicates and I said yes. Now I have two identical albums of Feedback in my library. One album has the tracks I bought from ITunes the second has all the tracks but the ones I bought from itunes. When I select to play either albums only the tracks listed play not the whole orignal album. How do I correct this? I want one album listed with all the orignal tracks. Also i'd preffer to keep the apple lossless version i imported from the CD - not the ITunes version. Thanks folks

I have a similar problem , where I had a cd I imported then bought a bonus track on iTunes not on the cd but belonging to the same album, but iTunes showing it to me as 2 separate albums.
My iTunes on the computer now shows it as 1 album, but when I sync it to me device it is still 2 albums and the album with the 1 song asks me if I want to complete it.
Sorry I have no solution yet, I just wanted to share that I too have a similar problem.

  • Getting track listing on iPod to match the ones on iTunes...

Hello. I've never figured out why on iTunes I can manually set the track order of an album, but when I sync it to the iPod the track order never changes.
Just wondering if there is a way to set the iPod track order manually to match the iTunes track order...
Any help will be MUCH appreciated! thanks.

I have manually set the track listing of each song to match the order of the ablums, and that solves the problem on iTunes, but on the iPod itself, they take on an order of their own.
Even when I rip tracks directly from the CD, the problem (sometimes) occurs. For example, on disk 2 of 'Heaven & **** - Live', the first track, 'Computer God' is always last on the album (on iPod), but first on iTunes.
I've already had to make several separate playlists for this problem, and it's become a little annoying... I don't know what else to do.

  • Duplicate Tracks Listed That Are NOT Really Duplicates!

My iTunes library suddenly has many duplicate tracks listed for SOME (not all) CD's I imported into iTunes, and I'm not sure why! The CD's that have duplicate tracks listed are split into individual songs. In other words, all the tracks are not listed together with one picture of the album art, but are split into individual tracks, with a duplicate picture of the album art showing for each track (as if each track was an individual CD)! When there are CD's with duplicates showing, there is always two track #1's, two track #2's, two track #3's, etc. If I click on the FIRST track #1 listed, I get the error message that iTunes cannot locate the file, and it asks me if I'd like to locate it. The non-functioning track is ALWAYS the first one listed (in other words, the first track #1 listed, the first track #2 listed, etc). This happened after I moved my iTunes library over to my external hard-drive, and I think it may have something to do with the fact that there may be some extra folders/files in my iTunes folder on my external hard-drive that don't belong there! The folder where I have iTunes save my music to is "G:\iTunes\iTunes Music", and inside my "G:\iTunes" folder are the following folders/files:
    Album Artwork (folder)
    iTunes Music (folder)
    iTunes Library.itl (file)
    iTunes Library.xml (file)
    iTunes Library Extras.itdb (file)
    iTunes Library Genius.itdb (file)
    iTunes Music Library.xml (file)
    Sentinel (file - no extension)
Is this correct? Does anybody know if I have an extra library file that's "confusing" iTunes? I am going through my library and manually deleting all the duplicates, but I have over 11,000 songs in my library (all recorded off of my over 1,000 CD collection!) and this is, as you can imagine, rather time-consuming!
Any help/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Dennis

I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove unwanted duplicates. See this  thread for background.

  • Can not modify the layout for my Default Display Form, inside an issue tracking list. the form will be blank after adding the cusotm styles

I am working on an Issue Tracking list inside SharePoint 2013. but when a user clicks on an item , the description field will occupy only a small area of the page , while most of the page will be blank as follow:-
so using F12 Developer Tools on IE i detect the marckup for the Description field as follow:-
where it is mentioned that it have a Width=350, so i add a Script Editor web part to the displayform and i specify the following to expand the field from 350 to 1000:-
    <style>
    #SPFieldNote
    {width: 1000;
    <style>
but the result is that the display form will display nothing when clicking on an item as follow:-
Of course if i remove the ScriptEditor web part the form will be shown again..
so can anyone advice from where i can force the default display item view to occupy the whole page size ? Thanks

    Hi John,
Since width is mentioned in 'td' itself, so using styles we can't overwrite the width. For that you can implement javascript or jQuery code to set the width on td element.
    $('#SPFieldNote').width('1000px');

  • I'd like to manipulate manually where in the track list (album view) the track appears.  How?

I've got the latest version of iTunes installed in Windows.
All I want to do is group some things together in my main track list under 'Album View.'
I have 200 items in my track listing.  How do I direct one item to display underneath two related ones?
Yes, I know how to edit track information.  So far that only works to edit info, not to sort.
There are fields in File     >     Get Info     >     Sort     >     'Sort Name,' 'Sort Album,' 'Sort Artist,' et cetera, but who knows what data goes in those fields to manipulate what order tracks appear in this list?

Please try the action I supplied in my post.
If you untick the search Entire library
Then type in your search term it will give the list of songs in the main window

  • Incomplete track list transfers to Zen X

I have a 30 GB Zen Xtra that I really like, but am having trouble transferring complete track lists to it from my PC. I use the Portable Device Manager in MusicMatch Jukebox 0, which works well with my mp3 library, but large transfers are usually incomplete. I currently have a track list of 3279 tracks built in MusicMatch, but can only get about 2700 over. I find the Creative options for this to be a little awkward for a large library. Does anybody have similar problems?

Thanks. I'm finding more and more stuff that MMJB doesn't do particularly well, but I'm pretty well locked in because of the library. I downloaded their most recent update this morning, and I still have the problem. There are other problems with MMJB 0, and dealing with them is a pain. I may end up doing things the painful way by using the Creative interface options, but they aren't particularly easy to use.

  • Can iTunes print CD labels or export track lists?

I know iTunes can print CD inserts, the paper that goes into a jewel case. But what I am asking about is the ability to print a label that would go onto the CD itself. This is useful when I have burned a playlist onto a CD.
Ideally, I would like to print directly from within iTunes.
If that is not possible, I would settle for exporting the track list so I can import it into another program (I have Nero Express) that can print a CD label.
I want to be able to print paper labels or LightScribe "labels."
    Thanks for any help.

You are correct. iTunes can print the CD jewel case inserts. It cannot print labels for the CD.
If you want to use the playlist information in another program, just do a highlight and copy from the playlist, and then paste into the other program.
The editing in the Lightscribe program (Sure Thing) is IMHO not too good, so I usually do the paste into Notepad, do the editing there, then copy /paste into Lightscribe and do final formatting there.

  • 5300 track list problem

Hello. I have a 5300 phone that works fine, except that when I (try to) open a track list the screen goes blank for a few seconds then the phone closes the music player and returns to the homescreen.
At first I thought there was a problem with the track list I made (via Nokia PC Suite), but in fact this happens whenever I try to open any track list.
Without a track list the music player can be very annoying because it's impossible to determine the order of songs to be played.
Anyone have a clue on how to fix this?
Or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanx in advance!

    what do you mean with
"this happens whenever I try to open any track list."
Do you mean the dynamic built-in track lists like "recent" and "most played"?
If those fail, I would suspect a problem with the phone... suggest you either try a phone firmware update (even if just to reinstall the same version) with Nokia Software Updater; or return to the shop and complain.

  • Sort a list alphabetically

Hi, I am using Pages version 5.2 and can not figure out how to sort a list alphabetically.  There surely has to be a way to do such a basic task!  Would be most grateful if somebody could tell me how this can be done.  I have searched the communities and have so far not yet found an answer.

    Katie,
Open a Finder window. Press command+J, and on the pop-up menu, select Show Library Folder. The hidden Library folder will now appear in your login directory. Find the WordService.service file, right-click on it, and choose Copy "WordService.service."
In a Finder window, you can now double-click the Library folder, and scroll down until you encounter a Services folder. Double-click the Services folder, and right-click in the white space, and choose Paste Item. You can close the Finder window if you choose.
In System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services ... scoll down the items in the right panel window until you find two items: Sort Lines Ascending and Sort Lines Descending. If their checkboxes are selected, they are now active. Note the keyboard shortcuts already assigned to them. Extra-credit: You may want to scroll back up slightly and enable Initial Caps of Sentences. Quit System Preferences.
In Pages v5.2, select your list of items to sort. Press shift+command+A, or shift+command+G, to sort ascending or descending respectively. This is simpler than the alternative of selecting Pages > Services and the sort command from a menu.
