Track nokia gps enabled phone from pc

hey, im starting this post to get info for me and for others because i believe that this is such an important feature in our nokia phones that we must maximise.
my question is, are there any programs where users can track there gps enabled phones from their pc?? Im sure all you nokia lovers would love to feel safe knowing that if your expensive smartphones go missing or stolen, you can track it down very easily.
i have heard of a shareware app called "phone guardian" for phones where the phone can be tracked via gps, however this can be removed via a hard reset. there must be a FREE way to access gps info of our phones at anytime from our pc without our phones needing to connect to any networks whatsoever and just the free gps satellite.
if ANYONE on this forum who knws anything about this topic, plz comment below because im sure every nokia user would want to knw the answer to this question.
thanks
If iv helped in anyway, hit the kudos button

Mate no one got offended in any reply. i said his tone seemed negative because i was up for possibilities, not impossibilities. haha dont know how this line could ever started something like this
Anyways, since we are all grown ups here, when you want to act as a peer mediator, try to exclude statements such as "I don't think there was anything offensive in Psychomania's 1st reply" because statements like these dont solve anything, they just show that you're being biased and taking sides... and so if i were you, the only post i would remove from this thread is your own
plz anyone feel free to comment on this post, and i hope the comments arn't gonna be about sissy talk but actual answers to my question because isnt that the reason why there is a discussion board for nokia users?

  • Performance testing of gateway of GPS enabled phone

    Hi All,
    We have a GPS enabled phone which uses Apache/Tomcat as the gateway server. We want to do Stress/Load testing on this gateway server for say 500,1000....users. This web server (Apache/Tomcat) is the phone gateway that allows coomunication from & to the phone. This server typically handles communication with the phone like GET POSITION, SEND MESSAGE, SHUT DOWN....
    We are told to use the Motorola iDEN Emulator for i730 to emulate a phone. We have the GPS position information for the tests in a txt file.
    (1) Has any one in the forum done this type of testing? If yes can you please send me ur e-mail ID so that I can discuss things out.
    (2) Does the above mentioned emulator have the capability like we feed the GPS position of say different users & the emulator can transmit the data to the Gateway server or Will we have to write some piece of code to make this happen?
    (3) Can anyone let me know of any load testing tool that can be used in this scenario?
    Anyone willing to get in touch with me directly can send a direct e-mail to me at [email protected]

  • Outputting data to a GPRS enabled phone from a PC

    Does anyone know is it possible to output data to a mobile phone (Nokia 7250i) which has access to GPRS network? The computer also has a LAN card, is it to set the output to ignore the LAN and instead connect to the GPRS network on a USB port, the output data which is to be received on a given IP address?

    I'll describe this process as if you'd be not familiar with any of this 4 steps (I don't really know your skills in this area):
    1. to have any hosting in Internet (it may be your own PC);
    In any searching machine you can find a number of sites that provide free or fee support of your own file area on its computer. For example search "free hosting CGI PHP". There is an important difference between free and not free hosting (see 4.)
    Another way - to buy your own domain name (AnilMD.com :) and put this site on your own computer (in this case midlet should recognize is your PC online for getiing info - professional hosting usually always is on-line). But in this way you should become a little bit sysadmin - you'll need to install some programs for support your site on your PC. (I use Denver - it's perfect (!) product of Russian programmists that has not analogues in a world: single tool instead of vairous & complicated; no variables to set - everything done automatically (Apache users know what it means :); full size - 2Mb! because of containing basic data only, if needed you can update it); support Apache server, CGI, PHP 4.0 and MySQL!; absolutely ease to use - just start one icon to start Apache, and another to finish; does'nt requires installing - all data is in one folder and can be moved in any another just by copying; it's absolutely free of cost; it almost not requires knowing russian. I every day use this product and like it very much! Cool guys, usefull utility :)
    2. this hosting should provide CGI and PHP
    CGI and PHP 4.0 are necessary, but usually hosters provide MySQL - it's very usefull.
    3. to send info not right to mobile phone, but to this server
    There is two main way to save data on server - in files or in a database. In any case you should create script on PHP which extract this data and send it on midlet request.
    4. wait untill midlet request this info (using timer maybe or by manual request)
    If you use free hosting on every info request you'll be sent a ad before (about 1-3 Kb) and then your own info! So think is it normally to your midlet to loose time and money.
    Depending on purposes of getting data make not large code for getting this info. If your mobile phone support MIDP 2.0 it can be done by separate programme and stored in shared data-store.
    I'm a J2ME soft developer. Our small company creates on-line mobile games. So I wont to propose:
    1. If anybody wants to spend time in interesting fight games he can mail me and i'll send "FightArena" - new human-to-human and human-to-robot game.
    2. If you do not have time and/or necessary skills to realize all explained about hosting, scripting, middleting etc. :) we can help for fee. Our programmes use namely this technologies and we are well familiar with it.
    Good luck to you!

    Hi,
    I was exploring J2ME and trying to develop GPS based application for mobile. I found Motorola A835 and A1000 supports GPS. Now i was thinking to make a simple application for GPS enabled mobiles e.g at any time when server sends request to mobile, it will connect the application residing on Handset and get back the coordinates.
    Also wanna know do i need any API's from 3rd parties like Nokia, Motorolla or its all in J2ME Kit.
    Looking for your real help and if you can send any code snipet then it will be great.
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers

  • My daughter has just changed her phone from an iphone to a nokia but when i send her a message it still comes up as an i message and she doesnt receive it?

    my daughter has changed her phone from an iphone to a nokia but kept the same number but when i send her a message from my iphone it still comes up as an i messsage and she doesnt receive it can anybody tell me how to fix this please

    She needs to remove that device from the iMessage database, or if she still has the phone, she can go into Settings, Messages and turn off iMessage. If she still has the phone, she just needs to put the SIM back in for a couple of minutes to turn that off.
    If she does not have the phone any more, she will need to go to her Support Profile, if she registered the phone and delete the phone from the profile.

    I am unable to delete music from my iPhone5 either directly or via PC.  On the iPhone the tracks disappear when swiping left and deleting but the phone remains full and the data is still visible on the PC. The music was installed on the phone from the backup of a previous model but with the addition of new tracks I am now unable to add more or update to the next operating system as the phone is full.  On my PC the music is still there and but the neither the delete function or any form of sorting/management on the music files is functional. Other Apple products work OK including previous phone, ipad.ipods etc Any advice/help available to get past this would be appreciated.

    I think it is 7.1.1 - there was another update today which I've uploaded but it didn't make any difference. It's just the music libary on the 5 that's causing me problems.

  • Bluetooth connection not working on US Nokia phones from J2ME Midlet (MIDP

    Hi All,
    We are developing a J2ME midlet (MIDP 2.0 ,CLDC 1.1)which makes bluetooth connection to other devices.The bluetooth
    connection is working perfectly on indian nokia phones with Airtel as carrier.But when we deploy the same midlet on Nokia E71
    US phone with carrier as AT&T ,the bluetooth connection is not working.The sample code is as follows:
    public void run(){
    try{
    StreamConnection connection = (StreamConnection)Connector.open(btConnectionURL);
    // open an input stream to get some data
    InputStream in = connection.openInputStream();
    byte[] serialData;
    readData = true;
    while(readData == true){
    int lengthavai=0;
    lengthavai = in.available();
    if(lengthavai > 0){
    serialData = new byte[lengthavai];
    int length = in.read(serialData);
    System.out.println("data read: " + new String(serialData));
    dataViewForm.append(new String(serialData));
    in.close();
    connection.close();
    }catch(IOException ioe){
    ioe.printStackTrace();
    when we try to connect on US Phones],the execution hangs at the following line of code:
    StreamConnection connection = (StreamConnection)Connector.open(btConnectionURL);
    No exception is caught.
    Our midlet is not signed.
    In the Forums it is said that the problem is with the unsigned midlet.AS some of the US carriers block the secure API usage
    on Unsigned midlet.
    But our question is, if we buy a code signing certificate from Verisign or Thawte and sign the midlet, will this problem be solved.
    Any other alternative solutions for this ???
    Immediate help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Yash

    You might want to read this before buying a certificate:
    http://javablog.co.uk/2007/08/09/how-midlet-signing-is-killing-j2me/
    It's not my blog, but I pretty much agree with what it says. Unfortunately the network operators can control the access 3rd party trusted certificates have, so even if you sign with Verisign for example, the signed midlet may not have any more privileges than an unsigned midlet, depending on network. They do this so that only midlets signed with one of their own certificates have unrestricted privileges forcing anyone who wants a useful application to buy it from the network instead of downloading an equivalent freeware version from Getjar for example. Some networks are worse than others, so signing your midlet will allow it to work on more phones than an unsigned midlet. I think Verisign have some info on AT&T on their website.
    The whole MIDP specification for security is a joke, IMHO. I don't mind unsigned midlets flashing up a warning once during an application. Writing 20 files, for example, will give 40 security warnings for reading writing data which is ridiculous, as the user obviously either trusts the app or he doesn't. No one runs an app that they only sometimes trust.
    As far as I know the only mobile manufacturer so far to see sense is Sony Ericsson. All of their new phones from Java platform 7 onwards allow unsigned applications access to the file system, bluetooth etc with just one warning when the applications starts.

  • I lost my I phone 4 , how to track it's imei number from the apple id that  I used in that lost iPhone

    I lost my I phone 4 , how to track it's imei number from the apple id that  I used in that lost iPhone

    The only way to locate/disable/erase any lost/stolen iPhone/iPod Touch is through Find My Phone or a similar app. However, this requires that Find My Phone be setup/activated, on your phone, before it was lost/stolen. You would then login at iCloud.com & try to locate it. This requires the phone be turned on & have an Internet connection. There is no other way to locate a lost/stolen iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, nor will your carrier. Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords.
    If your carrier offers Blacklisting & they Blacklist the phone, it will be unusable as a phone.
    If locked with a passcode, and running iOS 7.0, then phone cannot be activated or the passcode removed without knowing your Apple iD/Password. It will be nothing but a useless paperweight.
    If not running iOS 7.0, the phone can be forced into recovery mode & restored.

    How do I enable pop up blockers On my Nokia lumia 822 phone? I am unable to log into certain sites,please help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    You mean disable pop-up blockers? You can't. This has been raised several times. The browser simply takes a dislike to certain sites which it decides are not safe and nothing will persuade it otherwise. My UK bank being one. Asking for a desk top version of a site or using a different browser doesn't help.

  • Find My Phone, From 3000 Miles Away

    This is a story of how Find My Phone was used to try to locate and recover a stolen iPhone. It took place from 6AM one morning to 9PM that night, 15 hours.
    * My wife and I wake up to find a 3-hour old message on her phone, from her daughter’s (Tina) boyfriend (Will), saying that her iPhone 4S was stolen. We’re in NC; they are in Sacramento, CA. She is asleep in the casino motel at this time, and has his phone with her; he’s in the casino (where her phone was stolen). Her iPhone was using the latest software (iOS7) and she had it password locked so we weren’t too worried that the thief could get into it, at least not for a while.
    * I locate her phone (using Find My Friends) in North Highlands area and it was moving. It finally stopped, but couldn’t tell what street it was on. Wasn’t listed on Find My Phone (FMP) maps, and on another map it showed Brown Ln and another it showed Constitution Ave. So I sent her a pic of the map, big enough to show the names of the 2 streets at the nearest intersection. We kept calling Tina for nearly an hour, until she finally woke up and checked the phone for calls.
    * Using Tina’s Apple ID and password I logged into her iCloud account and located her phone from my computer. I found that her phone was down to 9% charge, so we stopped tracking it for long periods so as to not drain the battery. Once dead we would never ever find it. Tina didn’t want me to put it in Lost Mode for fear it may spook the thief and cause them to ditch the phone in a dumpster.
    * I called the police in North Highlands. They tell me they can’t do anything until she files a police report from the district where it it was stolen. Placer Country sheriff. I found out later that she had notified the casino security, and they had been in contact with the on-duty deputy at the casino, but no report was filed by them (has to be done by the victim). I’ll forgo the very long ordeal in trying to get Tina in contact with the filing officer at Placer Co… my blood would boil if I re-lived the frustration in doing that.
    * The casino deputy tells me that the casino checked their records and video to find who next used their casino card at the slot machine used by Tina. They were able to get a name and from that the deputy got a picture of her driver’s license. The address on the license was not current and the phone number he got for her was not working. And now that the report was filed, Tina is to take that report number to the North Highlands police so that they can actually start doing something. It’s now about 1PM CA time. A lot of waiting has gone on in trying to get the report filed - we had to wait until a deputy pretty much had nothing else left to do for the day.
    * By this time we had discovered that the thief had actually charged up the phone. It came up to 100%, so now we could locate it as often as we needed. Thanks!
    * Since about 1pm Tina had been heading towards North Highlands while Will stayed at the casino. I would locate the phone and send a map to Tina. This went on for most of the early afternoon. Tina had a GPS with her so I assumed she was using the cross streets that were on the map to enter into the GPS. Wrong. She didn’t know how to use it. Her GPS wasn’t a stand-alone GPS like I thought; it was part of the Android phone she was using. It was difficult enough to use, but coupled with the fact that we were texting and sending pictures over the same phone was too much to take. I think Will initially set it up before she left the casino to head for North Highlands. Now, part of this problem was me - I had totally forgot how easy it is to get an address from FindMyPhone. I used a convoluted method of opening in Maps and/or using Google Earth to locate some nearby business to give the address of that. (One tap on the “i” icon in FMP shows the address of the phone, or very close to it.) Oh, another thing - on the phone she was using, it would not display a picture sent via text if I also sent some text within the same message. It could only show a pic if sent just by itself. Major cause of confusion.
    * By 2pm Tina had returned to pick up Will and they left again to go to the address in North Highlands. It appeared to be an apartment building, probably where the thief lived. They had planned to go to the apartment area and call for the police to meet them there. The best fix I ever got for the phone showed it inside the right rear corner of the building, close enough to pinpoint the apartment where the phone was (but not which floor, if more than one!).
    * Didn’t matter, because just before they got there the thief was moving again. It was 3:30pm CA time, and here begins the wild chase through the outskirts of Sacramento that lasted for over 3 hours. Now, I’m trying to talk to Tina & Will to give them directions as to the location of the thief, they are talking to each other, my wife and I are talking, and Will is trying to drive and navigate in a city he’s not familiar with. So it’s fair to say that at times there was ample confusion, and also it became abundantly clear that no one in the vehicle had an operational navigation gene.
    * After about 3 hours of chasing the thief around Sac, they ended up traveling mostly up and down Arden Way. I think they stopped at every drug store on that road. At one point Tina and Will actually met them going in opposite directions along Arden Way (but didn’t know which car the thief was in). What made this a bit more difficult is that FindMyPhone doesn’t “track” a phone giving you a moving dot on a map; it gives you a snapshot of where the phone is now. But “Now” can be several minutes old, as FMP won’t let you keep getting location fixes continuously, sometimes you have to wait for a fix (guess Apple was thinking about using up your subject’s battery by not allowing you to hit its GPS constantly).
    * They stopped at a Walgreens at Howe and Arden Way, and stayed there long enough for Tina & Will to get there. I got an excellent fix on the thief at the southwest corner of the parking lot, where Will got the license numbers of a dozen cars in that corner. The plan was to track them to their next destination and get license numbers again - if we got one that matched we would know which car was theirs. Will was parked right next to a red car in the corner. A few girls came out of the drug store, saw Will and Tina looking over the cars, and appeared to get very nervous looking. They jumped in their car and sped away. Will was sure he had the right people (turned out he was right).
    * At that time the phone started moving again, and stopped behind a shopping center on the opposite corner of that intersection, but Tina and Will overshot their location and it took a while to get back and for me to convey the thief’s location. When they arrived in the parking lot Will saw the same girls driving off and went after them, but the phone stayed behind! I got Will to turn around and come back, telling him the phone was still at the shopping center (or mall). I sent picture after picture of where it was and tried explaining how they might get there, but no dice. Some people are good at seeing a map picture and transferring that image to where they are, and, well, some people aren’t. It also doesn’t help that GPS is sometimes off by several tens of feet, like that day at that time. It showed the phone in the back corner inside the mall building, within a very small radius.
    * They got mall security to come help, and several employees, and went to the back of the store at that corner. I set Tina’s phone to make an alarm sound while they searched and listened. On my phone I tested what this sound was like so I could tell them what to listen for. What a joke. The “alarm” sound is a soft ringing bell, not loud at ALL. That might be fine if you’re looking for your phone in a living room under a couch cushion, but almost useless in this situation. We finally gave up.
    * OK, THEN I got another good position fix outside the mall building, in an alley just behind the mall. Tina & Will went outside in the alley. To make matters worse, out in the alley there were loud noises coming from air conditioning equipment located nearby. There were parked cars and dumpsters everywhere.
    * I started playing a sound on her phone again while they walked around listening and looking. After about 30 minutes of that we were ready to call it quits. We didn’t know what else to try. It was 6:30pm CA time. We’d been at this for nearly 15 hours.
    * Then Will said, “Wait a minute!”. He was hearing something. After a few seconds I could hear it too, through Will’s speakerphone. He said “I found it!”. It was in a small black cloth bag with a pull string at the top, tucked deep inside a bush along the edge of the alley!
    * I guess the girls got spooked at the Walgreens parking lot and decided to ditch the phone, but Im glad they chose a bush with a clear view of the sky and not a metal dumpster. Back in 1990’s I used to be a P.I. for several years, but this one takes the cake. Well, almost.

  • Nokia gps module

    I ask about nokia gps bluetooth module, is it avaliable in egypt yet?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    If it is now legal to import and sell GPS receivers in Egypt, then local retailers/distributors should be able to order them from Nokia and resell them there.
    Ask local resellers if they've ordered any.
    Note also that you can also use other manufacturer's Bluetooth GPS receivers with Nokia phones.
    The only one to avoid (unless they've change their practice) is NAVMAN. It used to be problematic, because it used a text string for the Bluetooth pairing code, and Nokia phones only supports digits, so you could never pair a NAVMAN Bluetooth receiver with a Nokia phone. Otherwise, I'm sure it works just as well as any other Bluetooth GPS receiver.

  • Nokia N97 - faultiest phone ive ever had

    Hi guys im new to the forum and its interesting to see just how many people are suffering with issues with their n97. How Nokia have managed to release a phone as buggy as this is unbelievable. I will never buy another Nokia, there are issues with EVERY software update, alarm doesnt work, keypad freezes, unlock/lock doesnt work, cant open SMS, memory always saying it is full. How is it possible to release such a bad phone? Why are they still not capable of fixing the problems?

    @markmacdonnel
    Nokia are defently one of the best companys to follow up their phones. Samsung and SE does hardly make updates at all.
    Around on different forums you will find people complaining about any phone on the market. Today I read a few posts about the desire freezing and rebooting and peeps wishing they had never bought it.
    If you buy a HTC with WM for instance, you will likely feel that it's a xtremely heavy and have a lot of wierd bugs or are non userfriendly. - Giving some time on XDA dev. site, you will find ways to tweak and do whatever you like with it, but it needs some effort.
    I have an Iphone my self, which works flawlessly, but I have friends who also have a lot of problems with theirs. - Freezes, reboots, and gpu burn to death.
    What I'm saying is that there are faults and issues with every brand and every model.
    Nokia sells a enormous amount of devices every year, from cheap basic phones to expensive N and E series devices. Apple have one phone to work with which the majority won't afford. Iphone is great, but Nokia is "bleep" great too.
    Take the HTC HD2 which has extremely great hardware, unfortunately a lot of users have now gone almost a year with problems of sms's beeing stuck in the outbox... I've read a "few" comments about that for sure - It was far more expensive than the n97...
    Don't misunderstand me, I know that the n97 has been a pain for a lot of users, and I do understand your frustration, but the point is, you find it everywhere... Dell computers, HP computers, gps's, phones, tv's.
    Now, if you want to, I and many more here would like to help you with your issues, and perhaps get it to work like it has worked a few months!?
    You say it has been working for a few months... Do you remember doing anything to it right before it started to misbehave? - Installing any 3rd party apps, deleteing anything, change settings etc?

  • An appeal to Nokia - GPS and time

    This is an appeal to Nokia to create products that make use of the fact that GPS receivers can give accurate time.
    I'm an amateur astronomer, and GPS and Java-enabled mobile phones are an absolute godsend - I can whip out my phone and, with a built-in GPS and the right software, it will figure out where I am and hence what is visible in the sky.
    EXCEPT that what is visible in the sky is also dependent on the time. And sometimes, having access to accurate time can make all the difference.
    For instance, I am currently working on updating software I wrote to calculate the circumstances of total solar eclipses - something that a GPS-enabled mobile phone is perfect for. And a couple of seconds error in the phone's clock can make all the difference.
    So please please Nokia make use of the fact that GPSes can give (astonishingly) accurate time.

    To sync to GPS time on your Nokia phone, you need either Free TimeSync or FreeTimeBox,
    These are free ware apps which allow you to sync to GPS time.
    here's a link to Free TimeBox
    http://nucellphone.com/freetimebox-v1-06-for-nokia-s60v5
    Its the newest version compatible for s60v5, but AFAIK it should work on non touch phones as well.

  • Change to Wifi enabled phone?

    With my Nokia Lumia930, if I am inside someones house, i.e my own, friends or relitives I will not get signal; and are dependent on wifi messages apps such as Facebook or Whatsapp.  Obvisouly I need to be able to recive calls from other people and not just my friends and family, which I cannot do.  So would it possible to change my Lumia930 for a wifi calling enabled phone? From the EE website I see a grand total of 6 phones that are compatible. would I be able to switch to any of these? Or am I bound to a phone that practically doesn't work....

    Hi,
    EE don't guarantee any coverage indoors or 100% of the time.
    Unless you buy another phone then EE will not exchange your phone.
    Thanks,
