Track pad and button click not working

I have a Macbook pro from 2008, the 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4gigs ram. Recently my computer's track pad mouse stopped clicking and the tap to click function isnt working either. I can move the mouse with the trackpad and the scroll/zoom functions still work. Every once in a while the click will register, but the unclick will never happen, i.e. I will be highlighting everything on a page and wont be able to unhighlight unless i have the external mouse. When I scroll over the x - + of a window nothing shows up. I used a usb mouse and that worked fine, and shows the x - +. Anyone having this problem or have a solution for this problem?

One thing to check is the battery--there have been instances of the battery swelling and becoming deformed and exerting pressure on the trackpad from below. If this is the case, stop using the battery immediately before it does permanent damage.
Apple used to have a recall on some of these batteries, but unfortunately no more. If you have access to an Apple Store, take it in and show it to the genius bar. No guarantees, but sometimes if someone feels this should have not happened, you might be able to get a free replacement.

It might be the double click speed setting.
Look in System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > Trackpad options.. button > move the double click speed to the slow side of the range.

Track pad and touch screen stopped working

My phone was out of charge and it turned out as soon as i plugged it in the charger but i noticed that neither my track pad or touch screen are working. i tired removing and putting back the battery and restarting it but with no use please post the solution asap thankyou.

Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Remove the battery
Wait 15 minutes
Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.

My MacBook's built in touch pad and keyboard is not working.

Hi.
Am using a MacBook. It was working perfectly before i plug in a Non Apple USB standard keyboard
into it. when i did that,an error occurred like "please pressing the just after the Right Shift Key Button"
but there was not such kind of button on that keyboard.so i pressed the Shift key instead.
it works that time,but after some time i discovered that,my build in track pad and build in keyboard
stop responding permanently. Now i have to use my MacBook using both USB mouse and keyboard.
Is there any way to fix it?? If there is,would someone please help me,PLEASE!!!!

I don't have an answer, but have suddenly developed a similar problem. Early today we got a new Verizon FIOS router to replace an older one. Once the tech fired the thing up and we got everything in the house logged into it, I noticed that my iPhone 4S wifi speed was mighty low. Using the Speed Test app, I was getting a wavering average of between 4 and 7 Mbps. Even on the old router I was usually getting 20-30 Mbps. I checked all the other devices in my house and noted all were getting at least 25-35 Mbps--including my wife's iPhone 4S, my kids iPod 5, and our iPad 2. The wired Windows desktop gets more than 60 Mbps and the wireless laptop gets more than 40. I tried all the tricks on my iPhone--restarting, forgetting the network and the resetting it, and even resetting all of the network settings. Nothing gets me any faster, yet my wife's iPhone 4s blazes away at 25-35+. I even went into the router and played with disabling WMM and switching (briefly) to b/g mode. No luck. Finally, I decided to take out the new router and put back the old one--the verizon tech was nice enough to leave the old one with me--but my speed did not increase one iota. I'm stumped. It worked fine two days ago, and all of our other Apple devices (including an identical iPhone 4S) are fine and run at super speeds. What happened to my phone?

Keyboard, Touch pad and battery are not working.

I cannot turn on my Macbook (10.4.11) without the power adapter connected. The keyboard does not work nor does the touch pad. I've searched the forums for anyone else with this problem, there are similar instances but mostly related to Leopard. I'm having to use an external keyboard and mouse to continue working. Looking for fixes.

The left click will not work to highlight text, copy, paste.   The tap and rt click, window pull down, work fine.
Funny... the story matches all of you.   Wanted to remove/install driver, I suggested we look for issues first or ck the dates of drivers.   Seemed to hose my EXPLORER window and speed.   Then the bios change and I said should we ck the dates/Revs and we moved forward.   No reading of fix, or this has been issue and I asked many times is this a issue.   I also saw this on the store demo unit when I was cking them out. NO REPLY.... wish I looked here first and pushed to talk to tech/svc manager.
Phone help tried to take over my computer and link/web would not work it failed!!
Tech also wanted me to do system restore and I declined.   I replied I have not loaded anything yet, only updated Norton and did a little web searching, windows update, HP update.   I also looked at the pad and button settings ... found nothing I missed.   I called them incase there was odd box/set I missed.   I hate being lied to, they know from I am reading here... two threads so far and 2-3 people on each.    I did not want to restor.... nothing is changed.... do not want to exersise the Hard Drive.   Asked her to research problem and find the fix... rather than just keep changing stuff.   The bios was flashed for the same bios rev.
While doing this work with tech.... the pointer went to top and not moved from top right.   The parts of screen starting to flash, the curser would lock, IExplorer got very slow... to 30 sec to load the internet page vs 2 sec
I also just found..... you can switch the fuctions of rt/left button and still copy paste.   But the left button will not pull down the pull down windows.   What a mess!
You can go to system information and print of your currrent list of soft and hard.   That will tell you what is up todate and what is not.

Built-In track pad - one finger features not working!

I am experiencing a problem with my MacBook Pro built-in Trackpad, after upgrading to Lion, the one finger drag and highlight is not working. Only the tree fingers option is woking for drag and highlight.
I have another Macbook and the one finger drag/ highlight is woking fine after Lion upgrade
The three fingers drag and highlight is non useful, how can i enable the one finger drag/highlight?
Any solutions please?

You can adjust the trackpad here:
System Preferences > Trackpad > Point & Click
Turn off Tap to Click this will require you to actually click the trackpad instead of just touching.
You can also adjust the Tracking Speed using the slider.

I have a nano 5th generation and buttons do not work but click wheel does

My buttons often do not work. Until today, if I toggled the move button I could get it to work after 3-4 minutes of trying. I restored the nano 1 hour ago. It turned on to teh menu, I moved to shuffle and selected that. SOngs are playing. But now none of the buttons work. Battery is charged, I toggle the hold switch, nothing helps. If I press the play-pause, the screen will light up for a few seconds. But that is all I can do. I can't go to the menu, go forward or reverse. I can't reset by pressing menu and select.
The only way I can stop the music is to plug it in with iTunes open - sync starts - music stops. But when I disconnect it after ejecting, it still is on - menu screen.
Is the nano toast?

iPod not appearing in iTunes

T540p and Middle-Click not working

So, I just got my T540p 2 days ago, and while getting everything set up, I realize that a few things are off with the clickpad. For a while, most clicks were not being registered: left, right, or middle. It could take some furious clicking just to get one click registered. Next, no matter what settings I set, I could not get middle click to register as a middle-click - they were always taken as left clicks. And finally, I could not get right-click to register unless I set button size to either Large or Full. At standard, right-clicks were seen as left-clicks.
Here's the rub - I think I've narrowed it down to the driver. After submitting a warranty request yesterday, I started playing with it some more, and here is what I've found:
After a few full shutdowns and reboots, responses got better: Clicks were more reliably registered, and right-clicks worked, even on Standard button size in the settings. However, middle-clicks were still impossible. Any attempt at a middle-click was registered as a left-click. This was with the Lenovo driver installed.
After uninstalling the Lenovo driver, middle clicks started working. Unfortunately, mouse speed is painfully slow without the Lenovo driver installed, so this is not much of an option. I tried downloading a driver directly from Synaptics, and that did not seem to help the mouse speed - this driver doesn't seem to add the UltraNav tab to the mouse settings which allows me to increase the speed of the TrackPoint. However the Synaptics driver (which claims to be older than the Lenovo driver) did allow middle-clicks.
Next, I re-installed the Lenovo driver and after the first reboot clicks were back to being unreliable and middle-clicks vanished again. After a 2nd reboot, left and right- clicks became better, but still no middle clicks.
So, I've determined that it's not a hardware issue anymore, but a driver issue. I now have a box on the way to ship my laptop back - but since it's not a hardware problem, I don't see the need to send the laptop back.
Does anyone have any insight on what I should do? Send it back and let Lenovo attempt to change settings/etc. to get my middle-click working? Or patiently wait for a driver update that may or may not fix the middle-click?
I will say that I am very impressed at the speed of getting the 'warranty fix' box, so THANK YOU to Lenovo for an amazing response there. I'm just getting frustrated with the clickpad issues.

I have the exact same question, prior to UltraNav driver installation, you can simply Tap-to-click while using the Trackpoint. After installing the driver, you MUST click down on the Clickpad to send a click while using the Trackpoint. This is such a simple software solution that has seriously made me regret my decision to by a newer Thinkpad. The new xx50 series Clickpad is interchangeable with the xx40 series but I am not spending nearly 70$ to solve a simple software problem!
I recall that back in the days of the X200/X201 there were a decent amount of tips/tricks we could do via the registry to enable "hidden" features of the Synaptics touchpad/trackpoint combo. Is there a similar "hack" we could do to enable the tap-to-click functionality while using the Trackpoint?

Flash Component Button click not working

I've gone back to an old project to change some logos around,
and my flash component buttons no longer work. They appear on
stage, but the click event is not happening. I authored on XP, now
on Vista. Director 10.1. Any idea what is happening?

If you are adding those buttons now, check for each button
the Flash
component tab in the property inspector and make sure the
eventPassMode
(lowest option) is set to #passAllways.

Ctrl and left click not working in DW CS5

When Im working in design view for some reason my links are not working when I press ctrl and left click. To make them work I have to right click and select follow link.
Its not a major problem because I can still carry on, but its annoying!

I presume you're talking about Live View, because links don't work in Design view.
One thing you can try is selecting View > Live View Options > Follow Links Continuously, or select the option from the Live View Options menu in the Browser Navigation toolbar.
It works only for the current tab, but is useful if you're following a lot of links.

Satellite P500 (PSPE8A-01R002) - Number pad and num lock not working

After upgrading to Windows 7 the number pad and num lock on my P500 PSPE8A-01R002 is not working.
Any help will be appreciated.

Since keys worked in vista then its reasonable to assume there is something in the "software". I doubt that windows can make changes to the bios though there is Toshiba HWsetup but that does't look to do anything relevant.
I don't know what conclusions could be drawn from the results of trying an external keyboard.
How about trying various boot sequences such as direct to the command prompt and direct to safe mode to pin down it the problem is specific to your W7 installation? - why not try making a bootable cd (i'd have to google to find out how but you should be able to try windows 98 or even DOS - there was also a run from cd/dvd version of Linux and there's also the new Google os to consider).
Within W7 the only things that affect the keyboard would be settings in control panel > ease of access where the keypad can be set up as a mouse or keys remapped so num lock is "something else" and, clutching at straws, I presume keyboard language settings - are there any languages that require use of a numeric key pad to give a full character set (keyboard set to foreign language and Windows set to "English" so that the foreign character set isn't displayed?

Web Viewer embedded (custom domain) and button url not work!!! (Urgent!!!)

Many sorry for this question - we have a Web Viewer embedded (custom domain) that have all url (button with open in browser) that not work!
On tablet (Apple + Android) the button work great but on web viewer they do not work!
Any ideas to solve?
