Track pad not sensitive enough

My Macbook alum has been working well for the last year or two. Within the last couple months, the track pad has become increasingly less sensitive...clicking on it does not always invoke a selection as intended even when a clear click sound is heard. I find i need to click much harder than standard use to get it to respond.
I checked the control panel and played around with the settings several times with no improvement.
Thoughts?

I had the same problem, clicking with the track pad became unbearably bad, it wasn't sensitive at all.
I found that if you take off the bottom and remove the battery on the track pad there is a screw, its a triangle shape.
Tightening that screw raised the trackpad (slightly, don't over do it) and by tightening that screw the trackpad's clicking came back to normal.
Free fix, worth a shot. Don't strip the screw though...

I slowed the arrow speed down, that did not help.
The problem appears to be that when I scroll over a link or item it either goes to the link or opens a box to request an action be taken.
If this is normal does the magic mouse have the same sensitivity?

Look in System Preferences - Trackpad for the settings, if you find it too sensitive then you should uncheck the "Tap to Click" box.

Xperia Z2 phone microphone not sensitive enough

Hi I recently moved from my Samsung G4 to the Xperia Z2 and I am finding that the microphone is not sensitive enough for my needs. I do a lot of recorded statements and dictation using the Philips App for my phone. So I purchased, for another $70.00 Canadian, the STM10 and I am still encountering the same problem. Is there a fix for this.
This is my only concern I have with this phone, but it could be a deal breaker.

Thank you for your reply. I have tried everything from turning off the NR setting, to applying 'clear audio' in sounds affects and activating the 'dynamic normailizer'. It simply does nothing that enables my secretary to transcribe my statements and depositions without being at maxiumum volume. It's not too bad when I dictate, because the microphone is six inches away, although she still has to keep it at maximum volume; but in a statement it is about three feet, often with background noise, the sound is just too faint. You should be able to hear a pin drop from ten feet away!
This is so basic, I can't believe Sony does not have a fix. I love this phone for it's camera and battery life, but I never even thought something as basic as a microphone level could be missed. Frustrating does not even begin to describe it, This should be as simple as a setting adjustment.... come on Sony, help me stay loyal, this is a deal breaker. Any help would be appreciated.

The update to boot camp is now available!
Just installed Windows 8.1 Pro to my MacBook Pro, Retina, Mid 2012, OS X 10.8.5: Memory 16GB 1600MHz DDR3
After going through the usual process from boot camp, then installed windows and the support drivers... the trackpad rt click did not work. I had to then go download the boot camp again from windows 8 using the url below and ran the set up.exe from the boot camp folder you can download from below. Run it within windows 8.

This solved the Trackpad Right Clicking issue (not working) as well as tapping.
The wireless and network connectivity issues where resolved as well. The Boot camp support software enabled a boot camp control panel available in the windows 8 system tray and from there you can enable the track pad to tap and use the secondary click.

Track pad not functioning correctly

My MacBook 5,1 is having issues with the track pad.
Clicking on a folder to open and scrolling are fine. Even a feather like click works, so sensitivity is still functional.
Click and drag and what Apples called secondary click to get drop down menus at different locations are both not working. So highlighting text and secondary/right clicking a misspelled work to get suggestions all don't function.
I have tried different settings in the preferences, without a solution to this.
I tested using a mouse for click and drag and this works, but I would preferred to use the track pad if possible.
IS there a way to remove the preferences for the track pad from the system and then reboot or some similar solution to resolve this?

Track pad too sensitive

My track pad is unpredictably sensitive. Often it will highlight lots of items instead of the one I select the "feel" is different, not feeling like it has "clicked". Other times a selection box will appear for no apparent reason

Go to system preferences, trackpad, and turn off the "tap to click" option.
Everything else will still work the same. You now just push a little harder when you want to actuall "click" on something.
This completely resolved the issue for me.

MBP keyboard and track pad not working

Today the keyboard and track pad on our mac book pro laptop just stopped working. The mouse connected to it by usb continued to work but we can't type or anything. We tried the ^F6 keyboard shortcut but it did nothing since of course the keyboard isnt working. And it is also not the number lock key. The computer was working fine all day up until now. It is just under a year old. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem. It appeared yesterday and then magically "repaired" itself. My MBP was fine today. Tonight the problem is back. No response from the keyboard and track pad. Track pad works fine using a USB mouse. My problem appears at start up. The cursor is in the usual upper left hand corner. It can't be moved. Restart, sleep then restart do not solve the problem.
Suggestions?

Key board and track pad not working

Ok, My situation is similar to some of the other things posted but not quite.
I tried to wake my computer up from sleep the other day and it wouldn't "wake up" so I did a hard shut down and restart. When it restarted the key board and track pad did not work. The caps lock light wouldn't come on or anything. I tried connecting a usb apple keyboard and mouse and those didn't work either.
When switching to windows in bootcamp, everything works. So... I guess that means it's a software thing.
I called Apple support and we did all the possible key combinations and restarts possible and it came down to this: I need to archive install tiger again, then install all of the updates, then install leopard back on (I don't have leopard disk because it was a family pack and im at college). My roomate's macbook (White, bought in aug 2008) install disks which are 10.5.2 do not work with my computer.
My question is: Is this really the correct solution to my problem? Will archiving and installing tiger then leopard affect my files? I haven't backed up using time machine in a month, so is there a way to backup through osx with my keyboard and trackpad not working or can I do a good back up through my windows partition in bootcamp? Any more tips? Thanks, this has never happened before and I guess I'm a little clueless.

Do you have access to another Mac? If so, possibly you could use Firewire Target Disk Mode to access your drive and do a current Time Machine backup:

Since you have a family pack of Leopard at home, possibly you could have someone burn a safety copy of it and send it to you so that you can reinstall Leopard. Once you have the OS installed and brought up to date, you could even restore from Time Machine if you had to.
Since we don't know all the steps you took, it's hard for any of us to say if this is the right solution. Evidently the Apple tech came to the conclusion that your software had become corrupted, and this could well be the case, since everything works on the Windows partition. Hence the suggestion to reinstall the OS.
I think you need to get a copy of the Leopard disc so that you can bring your OS completely up to date. I'm not sure of the logistics of doing an Archive and Install with both Tiger and Leopard, especially if much of your work has been done on Leopard. I'm not even sure if it's necessary to reinstall Tiger--it might be better to just reinstall Leopard using Archive and Install.
It's always a good idea to have a good up to date backup like Time Machine before attempting an Archive and Install, because things can go wrong. If they do, you may end up having to do an erase and install. If that happens, you can restore from your Time Machine backup.
I think what you should do is to get a copy of your Leopard disc, and then boot from it and try to do the Archive and Install. Navigate to Disk Utility first and verify both permissions and the disk and repair if necessary. Then proceed with the Archive and Install. Once you're done, run all the updates. Then go to Disk Utility and repair permissions.

HT1338 track pad not working after upgrade to mountain lion

I have just finished installing Mountain Lion and it apears to be ok but I have two imediate problems. Firstly the track pad gestures are not working, I can only select anything with the click switch, single selection by finger is not working. Secondly I have used the migrate assistant to transfer my files but I appear to have lost all my desktop shortcuts. I have installed all the upgrades which were advised on start up. I hope someone can help.

For the first problem, you need to re-enable 'tap to click' in Sys Prefs:

I'd recommend trying another VI function to get the power spectrum for
your signal to see if the behavior is the same. You can find some
examples of VIs using the power spectrum functions using the NI Example
Finder.
You can go to LabVIEW's Example Finder by going to Help >> Find Examples.
Then search for FFT. There should be some results that include FFT and
Power Spectrum Units.vi, Power Spectrum Measurement.vi, Basic Spectral Measurements.vi, and Spectrum Measurements.vi. Try opening and
running these examples to see if the VIs are returning the proper
results.

Tracker Pad Not Working

My tracker pad has stopped working. I've changed the batteries twice to no gain. The indicator light isn't opereating. Its 18 months old and up until now I've had no problems. Could anyone advise if this is a common problem, is there a fix or do I need to consign the pad to the bin? Many thanks

If you have some Isoprope Alchohol, remove the batts and clean the contacts. You might need to tether a cotton bud (cue tip) to something longer to get at em)...
If you dont have that, use newprint paper.. Not the smooth BOND paper.. but the newsprint, its slightly abrasive and might do the trick.

Track pad not working in Windows 7

I have a mac book pro running boot camp and windows 7. I am unable to use my track pad to scroll and right-click when using windows. I have looked at other threads and am in need of a step-by-step explanation for how to fix this problem. Has anyone run into this problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

When you ran Bootcamp Assistant did you download the Windows Support software? Did you then install the Windows Support software from within Windows?
If not, start Bootcamp Assistant and select the option to download the Windows Support software then follow the instructions in the Bootcamp Installation manual to install the Windows Support software.

My track pad not working properly

Hi Guys
I have been reading loads of forums on trackpads not working due to updates but I only have 10.7.5.
My track pad was working fine all day then when I get home to open computer again it starts playing up randomly selecting folders and wont click.
I restarted my computer checked for udates now I cant click and drag but the cursor and tapping and two three fingers is fine. Any suggestions.
The pad can click all the way to the bottom and if I want to use soming in the top bar I can click on it but nowhere else
Please help

I too was having some issue with my trackpad...atfirst it was not a permanent issue(at times trackpad was working and at times not), but later the trackpad tollay stopped working...i got it replaced by the BB service center...
So, i wud suggest u to visit a BB service center and get it clarified...do take backup of ur BB before going to a service center coz they will reinstall ur OS too after replacing the trackpad...

How do I fix my track pad which does not control my mouse? I plugged in a mouse via USB port but the pages are unstable.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
