Track pad on Curve 9300 malfunctioning

Hi I recently got my first Blackberry, the Curve 9300 about a month ago. It's been perfect up until a few days ago when the track pad started to act strangely. It's getting worse and worse. If i'm trying to scroll down, it'll scroll up, etc. I've tried taking the battery out and reloading it, i've tried changing the settings and nothing seems to be working. Help please!! I've only had it a month!

Hi dhirenjh,
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Did this issue with the trackpad improve when you uninstalled the 7 applications you had installed?
Sounds like it could be caused by low memory. Try following this article to maximize your device memory and testing for the issue again. http://bbry.lv/oD683w
For your second question regarding upgrading your device software, you can upgrade it yourself when a new version is available. This article provides instructions. http://bbry.lv/jZAl36

    Hello BiancaBriandt,
    Welcome to the Community
Seems your handheld is getting hanged that is why your trackpad stucks ferquently. Please try by deleting 3rd party apps using below mentioned procedure...
Menu (Blackberry Sign) from home screen > select maximise panel > Option > Security > Security Wipe > Select Only 3rd party app > Type blackberry in given space and click on wipe.

Hi and welcome to the forums Lotte !
A couple of places for you to visit: Blackberry 101    Tips & Tricks
Pull the battery out with the device ON. Wait about a minute and put the battery back in. Let the BB completely restart and see if that doesn't help. Clears out the memory and refreshes the BB; like rebooting your pc.
When you have anomalous behavior in your BB a battery pull often helps to clear it up too.
Let us know ow it goes..Happy to have you here!

  • Curve 3g 9300 track pad not working.

Hi my daughters Curve 9300 trackpad stopped working. Is this a common problem and if so does the phone need to be replaced or just the trackpad??
All replies would be gratefully received.

    Hi aishilei
Thanks for the Update ! I am sorry but if your Trackpad is not working even after Device Update I think you need to replace or repair that. But before that I would like you to simple test ,Try starting your Device on safe Mode and see if your trackpad works,If it works your Apps are responsible for that ,But if it did work even on safe mode then as I said you may had to replace your Trackpad.

  • Curve 9300 scroll pad

Hi, when I use scroll pad it will not hold on subject but jumps back to top of page! O2 guru says "knackered" any help please.
    Thanks

    Hey bryan-b,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
I would suggest changing the sensitivity options for the track pad on the BlackBerry® Curve™ 9300 smartphone: Go to Options>Typing and Language>Trackpad Sensitivity.  Once the sensitivity is changed, test it to make sure the issue is resolved.
If the issue still persists follow the steps in this KB article to fix the trackpad: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB29640
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • My Blackberry 9300 track pad pointer not stable.

Please help me, my Blackberry 9300 track pad pointer is moving upward on it own, even when I try to scroll down or side. I wiped the phone, but the problem still continues. Please help me. What should I do?

Oh...you elected to skip past backing up your data. OK...your choice.
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

  • Blackberry 9300 track pad flips betwee emails

I have a blackberry curve 9300. when i am reading an email and i use the trackpad left and right, instead of moving right and left within the line i am reading, it flips through e-mails (left gets the previous mail and right gets the following mail) unlike when it is scrolled up and down, as it moves up and down the same mail. Is this normal? This wasn't the case in my previous older curve. i am running software version 6 in case it is related to the software

i just wanan know if it is happening to anyone else

  • Curve 8530 track pad

I have had my 8530 since February of this year and the track pad is peeling.  I don't have long fingernails so I was wondering if anyone else had that problem?  I called Verizon and was told this issue may not be under warranty and I might have to pay to have the track pad replaced.  Does anyone know how much it would cost to replace the track pad or should I just bail and get the droid? I really like the purple color though....sigh

I have a 9650 through Verizon with the same problem.  My phone was new in July.  I called them and reported the problem yesterday.  They are sending a refurbished phone as a warranty replacement of the original.

  • Blackberry Curve 8530 - Track Pad is Frozen!

I went to check my phone last night and I couldnt get it to turn on. The only way is to take the battery out and put it back in. Then the home screen pops up with Unlock, Emergency and Cancel screen like normal (because I have a password) but then the track pad and none of the bottons work so im stuck on that page with no way to get out.
I've tried plugging it in to the charger and i've tried pugging it in to my desktop manager but seems to work?!
Would anyone have a solution for this? Or is there a phone number i could call to get someone to help me fix this??

    Hello mewool27,
Have you tried reinserting your battery?
If so, try reloading your device software using one of the methods listed in the following article:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB03901
If it still fails to resolve the issue you may need to contact your point of sale for options.

  • Cursor jumping around on curve 9300

Hi, I've seen many people posting about this problem, but have yet to see a solution. The cursor on my Curve 9300 jumps around all over the place.
    - The problem started before I did a software update.
    - It is not from track pad over-sensitivity. I've used the device for several months without problems. I did change the sensitivity, just in case. The problem persists.
    - I've pulled the battery several times, no effect.
    - I upgraded the software version 6 bundle 2647, no effect.
    - I've seen that some people have this problem when using the device in direct sunlight. Not relevant here - happens indoors or outdoors, and I am seldom if ever in direct sunlight (sadly).
If anyone could help me with this, I'd be most appreciative. Thanks.

yes if it is still under warranty sorry but seems there's nothing else we can do. i kept patient on using it for months while trying finding any possible soft repair but i get nothing
it is not that happy to hear that we can have new device since it comes with new PIN which means we lost all data.
    good luck on yours

  • Track oad keeps freezing 9300

I have a Blackberry curve 9300, and have had since january, and my track pad as stopped working, i havent dropped it or anything, i have tried taking the sim card out, and leaving out all night, its ever since i have got the new update, it has been like this, i have backed it all up, so am ready for anything u may suggest, i have 1 text 1 email 31 bbms 1 live profile can u help me please thank you

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
If, as you report, the problem started with the OS update you did, then a couple of things could have happened:
Something could have loaded improperly, causing corruption
The OS package may somehow be defective, causing the problem
It is also possible that it's entirely coincidental that a defect showed up at the same time as the update...unlikely, I admit, but not impossible.
The remedy is to reload your OS, using a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML (there will be at least one, perhaps 2)
    5) Launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software
You may need to try different OS packages, just to be sure.
Then again, given how new your BB is, you should not be having to struggle with such issues...you also are within your rights to seek warranty support, which you seek from your original place of purchase.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Track pad won't stop scrolling

I have a BlackBerry Curve 9300 about 2 years old. Running OS6. This weekend I started having problems with the track pad. After cleaning it, several battery pulls and trying some other "fixes", my track pahd will not stop scrolling on it's own. Any thougts on what I can try?? Had to revert to my 8310 to get by......

    Hey (kbeaudry74,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
I would suggest going through all the steps in this KB article and if the scrolling still doesn't stop it might be hardware related and I suggest contacting your network service provider for repair options.
