Trackball unresponsive on home screen

Curve 8330 - Sprint network
Just activated two days ago, no problems until this morning. Track ball is completely unresponsive on the home screen. After pressing the menu button, it works fine on the larger application menu.
Neither clicking nor scrolling work.

Greatly appreciate the input.

  • N97 mini - blank/unresponsive home screen & nokia ...

I have been having problems with my Nokia N97 mini.  It froze yesterday, and I removed and re-installed the battery to restart the phone.  When the phone came back on, the email widget had changed from Nokia email to the messaging email option (the one that you get under the messaging icon - it doesn't download in real time and rarely downloads the full message).
It froze again and I had to re-start it again, and this time, the home screen went completely blank.  It either shows the little boxes for the various widgets (they're empty), or the screen is completely blank.  Occasionally the screensaver (slideshow of images) comes on.  The home screen is completely unresponsive, and the only way I can get the phone to function is by pressing the menu button and navigating from there.
I have tried to re-load my nokia email so as to fix the email problem, but whenever I go to the "Email setup" or "Sett. Wizard/Email" options (under applications) the phone freezes.
I should point out that my phone downloaded Nokia Messaging 10.2 today, and the update history section says that the update was successful, but I'm still having serious difficulties.
I have tried restoring factory settings, but that didn't help.  I'm seriously considering trying a  hard reset of my phone but am unable to back up my information using Nokia Ovi Suite.
Does anyone have any suggestions re how I can start enjoying my beautiful phone again?

I would recommend trying the hard reset. If you can't backup using Ovi Suite you could trying either synching your phone with Ovi Suite or MS outlook or backing up to a memory card. Better still do all the above to be sure.

  • Device goes unresponsive once it gets to the home screen

    General Info:
    BlackBerry Tour 9630
    Verizon Wireless
    Purchased/Activated Dec 2009
    5.0.0.591*
    * I think this is the current OS. I did the update ~48 hours ago when I was prompted.  Since my device is utterly locked and frozen I can't seem to actually verify this.
    The problem I'm having:
Right now, whenever I turn the device on, everything freezes up -- all keys, buttons, and the trackball.  (alt+caps+del works, though.)  I did a hard reset not long ago, but now every time the device goes through the standard loading process, it gets to my home screen with a pop-up window for "Application Permissions: Do you want to allow the application SMSWakeUp to receive sms messages?"  I'd seen this a few times since the update Saturday night, but I had no idea what it was and didn't have time to investigate, so I denied it for the time being.
I've done battery pulls several times, as well as soft resets, and the problems seem to persist; I have no control over anything and can't navigate within the device to do anything.  When I connect the USB to my computer, Windows Explorer doesn't even recognize it, and the BB Desktop Manager refuses to interact or do anything with it (I'm not even sure if it's recognizing the device, despite me manually selecting it).
    Other Stuff:
Within a few hours of downloading and installing the new OS update, I had to reinstall/update several apps (AOL Instant Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, Facebook, BlackBerry App World, and I think one or two others which I can't recall). Shortly after that I went browsing through the App store and downloaded a few free items (Blocked Traffic Free, Animated Lightning Theme, and Sea Storm Animated Theme).
I noticed that, since applying either of the animated themes, some odd things happened -- I had two tabs for my email account, and several icons got rearranged or disappeared completely.  It's possible that this was the result of the OS update, though, I didn't have much opportunity to use the phone before it froze up on me.
    Final Comments:
I'm expecting that I may have to go to a Verizon store and have them do something with it.  I don't know what kind of service or opposition I'll run into there (I'm in a different city from where the phone was purchased and my dad's the official account holder for our services), but I won't know till I try.  My life doesn't revolve around this phone, so I'm not exactly dying here; I just want to know if there's anything I can do before taking it to the pros.  The relevant search results I get either involve battery pulls or having a phone that will actually let you navigate and do things with it.
    Any suggestions?

First of all, denying an app the permissions it needs can wreak havoc on the device.
Here is what I would do:
Download the OS posted below then run through application loader as instructed and see if you can remove that application by unchecking it's box.  If the application loader says pin unknown see if you can continue and have it detect the device.
    http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-9600-series-discussion-tour/223186-latest-os-v5-0-0-591-bb-t...
Some of the apps you had previously may be conflicting with the 5.0 OS.
If that doesn't work then I suggest wiping the device first by following the instructions here:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
Then after that go back to the link above and use the instructions to reload the OS to the device.

My iphone 6 screen is black and is unresponsive to home key or lock button. Phone is powered on and will ring, but no display. I have tried powering it off, but it will not respond. What do I need to do?

  • Have gray screen and unresponsive iBooks 2 program upon downloading Wilson textbook on life. No way to turn pages.  When using new York times app it shuts down and goes to home screens.

Loaded iBooks 2, downloaded e.o. Wilson textbook on life.  Opened book and only get gray screen without any way to turn pages.  As top menu does not appear cannot even switch to another book.  This occurred on 3rd time of trying to open book,   First two times would result in iPad switching back to home screen.  This last issue also happens when trying to open new york times app.

Shut down all programs that are running in the background.
    1. Double-click the Home button to see Apps in background
    2. Hold the Apps down for a second or two until you see the minu sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close program
    4. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo
Suggest you perform Step 1 to 3 at the end of every day.

  • Mail app is blank. I can not see any thing but a blank page with blue lined format. It does not shut down either. It just blinks out after a few seconds and the icon is there alone on my home screen then everything goes black and my home screen comes

MY Mail app does not respond in anyway to anything. The icon shows I have over 300 emails but I have no access to them. When I tap on the Mail icon a blank white page comes up with the blue format lines. No emails, no inbox, nothing, not a single letter of the alphabet is there. Within a few seconds it blinks out and I see the icon and my home screen. Soon it just blinks out to black. I am left with the icon at the bottom center of the screen. I have no way to shut it down. I have no access to the emails (300) in my inbox. All that is happening is my memory is getting filled up with emails. I would appreciate any solution to this problem barring deleting my email set up in settings.
if I have to resort to that I will, in the meantime I am hoping for a different resolution. Thanks everyone, you are all amazing and greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Diane.

    Hey There Diane,
If I'm understanding your situation, you've got an iPad running iOS 6.1.3 and the Mail app is not working.  I understand you don't want to remove and re-add your email account.
The first thing I would suggest is to make sure your iPad is backed up to iCloud or iTunes.
Do you have an iMAP or a POP email account?  When you go online to your email service provider's website, are you able to access the 300 emails in your inbox?
Since the Mail app is part of your iOS operating system, upgrading that software to the latest version, which is 8.1.3 may resolve this issue.

The easiest way to update your device is wirelessly, also called “over the air.” Here’s how:
Plug in your device to a power source.
Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Tap Download and Install. Updates might download automatically while your device is connected to Wi-Fi and a power source.
Tap Install, or tap Later to install the update later. If you use a passcode, you'll need to enter it before installing the update.
If you have some free space, but not enough to update over the air, you can either update using iTunes or delete content manually from your device. Whether you use iTunes or update over the air, you'll have the same amount of free space on your device after you update.
Some iOS software updates aren't available as over-the-air updates. VPN or proxy connections might prevent your device from contacting the iOS update servers.Update your device using iTunes
If you can’t update wirelessly, or if you want to update with iTunes, follow these steps:
Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer.
Plug in your device to your computer.
    In iTunes, select your device.
In the Summary pane, click Check for Update.
    Click Download and Update.

  • My ipad is stuck on the apple logo and wont return to the home screen. I plugged it into my itunes but I don't know what to do from there. Can someone please help?

Hi, I'm having trouble with my Ipad 2. I was recently playing a game and my ipad just shut off on me. Then when I turned it back on it was stuck on the Apple Logo and it won't go to the home screen at all. I plugged it in my itunes but I don't know what to do from there. I left it charged hoping the apple logo would dissappear but it didn't and now for some reason the battery is always dead.  I really need help. Does anybody have any suggestions? Please.

Did you try rebooting the iPad? You will need to have some battery power for this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • IPhone defaulting back to home screen, freezing and in a loop of rebooting/asking for passcode

iPhone 4, just over a month old, about 2 weeks into use has been playing up since.... I'm certain the problem is the same, but it manifests in different ways, usually daily. If unused for a period (as in an hour or two), the iPhone (when pressing the home button) goes to the black reboot screen, then asks for passcode, back to reboot, passcode and into an interminable loop.
Attempting to launch applications, or the internet, will just revert back to the home screen (as if the home button is pressed), or often, the home button will not work at all.
The onyl way of rectifying this is to shut off or - as this is sometimes not possible - screen and all buttons unresponsive - rebooting (holding home button & one of button)
I'm hoping it's a simple case of reinstalling something, or perhaps reverting to factory settings, but wonder if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

  • Safari goes back to home screen when opened using Safari icon

I dropped my iphone Saturday, fortunately I had it in my Otterbox case which was in its holster. Thank God there was no physical damage to the phone. However, now I notice that every time I want to use Safari using the Safari icon on the home screen, it doesn't respond and kicks me back to the home screen after a few seconds. I reset the iphone first, deleted cookies, history and cache finally did a restore and still kicks me back to the home screen. If I click one of bookmarks I have on my home screen it works fine, it's unresponsive basically when it opens on a blank page. Any help will be deeply appreciated! Thanks in advance.

The apps (mail and Safari) are crashing for some reason. I would start with this.
Double tap the home button to bring up the task bar where all of your recent apps will appear. Hold down on the mail app icon until it wiggles - along with the rest of the icons - and then tap the minus sign in the corner of the icon to cloase the app. Close Safai the same way and continue to close all of the apps in the task bar. Tap the screen above the task bar to return to the home screen.
Now restart your iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the  red slider bar appears and slide to shut off. To power up, hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and then let go of the button. Try Mail and Safari again to see if that helped.
If that doesn't work - reset the iPad. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. After the iPad has started up, try the apps again.
One last thing you may try for Safari is this ... Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Then restart the iPad like I explained above and try Safari again.

  • Ipad is switching from home screen to power up screen

My ipad is jumping back and forth from the home screen with the slider bar to the power on screen with the apple logo.  it is completely unresponsive and when I do a reboot (holding power and app button for a few seconds) it powers off and powers off.  When I restart it does the same thing again.  any suggestions?

Actually, if you're ever stuck, with the option to wait around while a big project opens to reselect and quit, or not, you can edit the XML directly in Textedit... In App Support/Color, the prefs file contains an entry like <singledisplaymode> (sorry I'm on an iPad ) which is Boolean - set it to true or false, save it et voilà!
