Tracking a mixtape on logic

i am currently trying to make a mixtape that has more than one track on it of one logic project. i tried to bounce it(to mp3) with the intention of importing it back into the program as one track. however i can't import this mp3, and i have no other options to bounce it to except pcm and aac?
what's going on?

PCM stands for Pulse Code Modulation and it's the standard uncompressed audio but it an have several formats: aif, wav and sd2.
So choose PCM and then aif or wav.
cheers

  • Syncing Fast Track Ultra (Slave) With Logic Express (Master)

I'm trying to get my fast track to slave with Logic Express, using Logic as the master. It doesn't appear to be sending out any messages. On my fast track I can get the midi 'in' light to blink but not the 'out.' in Logic, the transport bar on the bottom, says 'no midi' for both the in and the out. Does this sound like a Logic setup issue or a fast track ultra setup issue?

    Hi,
1st: You need to set your drum machine clock to external. That's important if you want to make Logic the master. Be aware any clock signal only is available when Logic is in play mode (naturally, but sometimes i forget even the most logical things).
2nd: In the Audio-Midi-Setup, the Fast Track should be displayed. Open the MIDI window (Window-> show MIDI window). Click on the "add device" icon. A new device will be added (new external device). Now open the inspector for this new device. You can name it, adjust all these things like MIDI clock send/receive and other gizmos and give it a nice icon. Now you must "connect" this new device with you Fast track by simpy dragging a line from it's outputs to the Fast track input and vice versa. The MIDI setup window will now represent your hardware's cabeling.
Once you have done this correctly, you should be able to correctly select the Drum machine in Logic.

  • Will Logic Pro accomodate a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra?, Will Logic Pro accomodate a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra?

Will Logic Pro accomodate a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra?, Will Logic Pro accomodate a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra?

M-Audio is a bit slow getting drivers out but they eventually get it right so take heart... even companies like Focusrite don't have 100% compatible drivers for some of their hardware.
Not sure if -all- of the recent USB changes were released on time. I'm regularly in touch with a couple of plugin developers and both say Apple is notorious for last minute changes. Don't know if it's true or not.

  • Why can't I colour code my tracks / instruments in a Logic Pro Template?

    Hi,
I'm trying to create my own Logic template using an existing example template I found online.
In this template, I want to be able to colour code all of my instruments / tracks so that each time I load my template, all the tracks will be set to specific colours (i.e. all kicks are dark blue, hats are light blue, synths are purple, bassline red, etc etc...)
I've read that you can do this in the mini view menu (View > Configure Track Header > then tick 'Track Colour Bars') then you just select the desired colours for each track, and when you use this template again all these colours will be set.
You can see the menu settings here ('Track Colour Bars' selected):
I've done this with no problems on a completely new project (see image A below) but when trying to do it on this template I downloaded, the colours are not changing (see image B below)
IMAGE A - Configure track header on a blank project
IMAGE B - Configure track header on a existing project template
Does anyone have any idea what might be overriding the colour settings on the template (IMAGE B)? As you can see, I have been able to colour the actual midi but it will  not colour the actual track.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was having problems with this for a while. Logic Pro used to let you color they regions and the track at the same time. Now you have to color the track first then click, Option (Alt for PC keyboards) +Shift+C this changes the color of the regions on the track to the same color as the track. Hope this helps!

  • What buffer do the "non-record enabled" tracks play at in Logic?

    Hey Guys,
So, we all know the genius of Logic is that it only uses the user-chosen buffer for tracks that are recording or armed, and it runs the playback tracks at a much higher buffer to free up processing power for the real-time tracks...
Out of interest, does anyone know what buffer it uses for playback tracks? (I think it might be 1024 samples but can't be sure)...
It puzzles me that all other DAWs have a buffer that applies to all tracks, playback and record. No wonder they can't even come close to Logic when it comes to low latency virtual instruments!
    Interested to hear people's thoughts!
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Thanks for the update.
There are several Adobe Premiere Elements Forum threads about situation such as the one that you have encountered. Typically they are the results of some heavy activity in the narration track.  Some have found success in maneuvers between the Expert and Quick workspaces in versions 11 and 12 or Timeline and Sceneline workspaces in versions earlier than 11. That is why I mentioned that type of factor in a prior post in your thread.
If that is not working, then we are forced into the new project where the problems in the current project are not presenting.
I will do a search for the threads that I am recalling about your type of issue. But, right now all roads seem to head to the new project. But I would ask "Can you salvage this project by creating your narration clips in Audacity or a new Premiere Elements project and import them into this project, putting the clips on one of the numbered audio tracks?"
If the problem should reappear in the new project, please let us know including the details of what was going on immediate before the problem surfaced.
    Thanks.

  • Soloed Audio Tracks Won't Play Logic 9.1.8 - Background Still Does

I have a 59 track session in Logic 9.1.8. I've encountered a very odd problem. Multiple audio tracks, even when soloed, will not play; however background audio/other tracks still do. For instance, I've imported a rough vocal track to the mix and when I solo the track, I do not the vocals however I hear kick drum and piano tracks which have been muted. I have double checked every audio track's output, automation, etc…and read several other posts to try and find anyone with a similar issue, to no avail.
Some specs - the majority of the tracks are imported Audio, I have attempted to solve the issue from my MacBook Pro (2013) AND from my studio system. All of the audio and session information are stored on our dropbox server, however other projects still work fine.
Here's where it gets super weird - I even tried started the session over again and just importing in the audio tracks from scratch and there is STILL a problem - I imported 5 of the drum tracks - kick, hat, snare, taiko, and noise percussion. When I solo the taiko track, I hear the audio from the kick track and NO AUDIO from the taiko track, and this is a BRAND NEW SESSION.
    Someone PLEASE HELP.

In Logic's preferences/Audio... Is Universal Track Mode enabled?  It should be.

  • Weird track icon appearing in Logic 9

A weird track icon has appeared in my version of Logic 9. It's on several tracks in a current project and I don't know what it is or how it got there (I can't see it in Logic's chart of track icons anyway, and I've certainly not imported any). If I had a Windows PC I'd suspect a virus or something, but I'm assured by a 'Mac genius' in my local Apple Store that I can't possibly have such a thing.
The icon has two elements which look like characters from some '80s computer game, both orange in colour. One looks like two hard drives stacked one on top of the other; the other is in the shape of a downward-pointing arrowhead or fountain pen nib. The background is black. I'd attach an image if I could see how you do that on this web page!
Can anyone give me information on what's happened here? Thanks very much.

    It's this icon:
    file:///Applications/Logic%20Pro.app/Contents/Resources/Images/LegacyIcons/47.pn g
(paste that into the address bar of your web browser and hit return to open it; it's a local file on your machine, within the Logic bundle)
Logic just assigned one of its legacy icons to the track for whatever reason.
    Don't worry about it.
If it bothers you, select another icon and move on.

  • Can we have the Logic 6 track mixer GUI in Logic Pro 7?

anyone have a clue about this? particularly in the track mixer, something I am (and I'm sure many people are) watching constantly, I find the latest Logic Pro 7 color scheme very dull and often hard to read. Other day I opened up one of my old Logic 6xx apps using an old song of that time, and the color of the track mixer, I found, was much brighter and legible. I'm probably chasing rainbows, but does anyone know any way that we can get this coloring back in Logic Pro 7? many thanks!

People have this problem all the time and every time it's that the app's hame has been changed or it has been moved from the Applications folder.  Make sure it's "Logic Pro.app", no extra spaces or characters.

  • Easiest way to turn a track volume up without Logic...

    Hi everyone...
I frequently need to turn tracks up and down just for previewing.
I know in iTunes and Quicktime you can turn it up and down but you cant export it with the new volume...
I need to find a quick way of doing this without having to load up logic, gain, export etc...
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

Tracks can only be treated differently as long as you stay inside Logic. That's what the faders are for. Each track has its own fader. Once you found your balance, bounce.
Once you've learned that, you don't need to turn anything up or down, as the balance from one song to the next is consistent.
As for it being quick, it may take anything from five to fifty years to master this craft so launching Logic does not matter much in this time frame.

  • Help getting a vocal track to sync with Logic PRO

I am trying to do a remix to a song which I have the acapella vocal track to. Can someone please let me know how to get the BPM of the vocal track then get the sequence in Logic Pro to sync up with the vocal so I can remix. Please help.

Unless it is a totally robotic performance, you can't magically extract the tempo value of a vocal performance.
If you want to be a remixer, your first skill to develop is to find the right tempo, by estimation (for the ballpark) and experimentation (for the exact value). Use an empty Arrangement (or soloed vocals) with but a click going on.
Once you get close, you may find that you have to shift the vocals back or forth a bit as it's highly unlikely that it begins at an exact downbeat.

  • Problems with M-Audio Fast Track Pro interface & FCP\Logic

    Hi gang,
I'm using a small M-Audio (Fast Track Pro) external interface to pump sound from the Mac to my speakers (and to input live sound).
I use it a lot with Logic Audio. No problems.
With FCP it does odd things on occasion. It suddenly starts to feedback, creating a horrendous din. Then I have to shut down FCP, replug the USB connect, even restart the computer to get it working normally again. And sometimes it just goes dead ... NO sound to the speakers.
Anybody come across this kind of thing? Any suggestions?
    Ben

I'm seeing similar things in Logic Express 8.0.1. I didn't experienced this with Logic Express 8.0, though I only used it a handful of times before getting the update.
Using the Fast Track Pro as an output device seems to work fine, but when I create an audio track and monitor my bass the audio tends to drop out after between 5 to 30 seconds; using inserts on the track seems to make it fail faster. Logic looks like its still monitoring, going by the monitor level, for a little longer, then it gets "stuck". If I record the audio track while its stuck and then play back through built-in audio its a clip of the bass, about a half a second or so long, repeating over and over again making it seem like the Fast Track Pro is, itself, stuck.
While it's doing all this Logic and the whole OS have a tendency to lock up for up to probably half a minute, sometimes longer.

  • Number of audio tracks possible? in logic

im trying to determine the number of possible audio tracks in logic....in my pulldown menue, there are only 24 possible...i imagine i can set this to a higher number?? any suggestions?
    thanks

I think what you are looking for is in the Arrange window, Track->Create Multiple->Track Type: Audio. This should allow you to access the unlisted tracks from the Arrange view. Just add however many you need.

  • Auto create audio tracks in cycle record Logic X without take folder

    Is this at all possible?
For audio not midi and I don't wan't to replace the audio each time,I would like to cycle record Audio takes and have Logic create a new track every time it loops-Like it was back in the day I think on Logic 7-without packing into a take folder.
I know it might just take getting used to but I cannot stand take folders
Please let me know if this is possible!
    Thanks in advance
    J:-)

Logic does have multi channel record ability, you just record arm the multiple instrument or midi tracks you want, and it'll play/record what ever is armed.
On the record till end of cycle and then move to a new track, I hear you, but you can't do it, logic used to make a new track at the end of a cycle when recording, but nowadays it sticks everything in a stupid take folder and there's no way ( that I've found ) of turning it off. Take folders have their uses, but not for every application.
I can't believe that Apple have have built a loop recorder that'll let you build up multiple parts ( like you're suggesting ) into Mainstage yet they haven't built this into logic. Maybe they will in the future, who knows. I hope so.
So yeah Christian if you want to build up loops as a performance, it's all there in Mainstage. It's called loopback by the way
There's a demo of it here (under live performance)

  • Can I record two stereo tracks at once in Logic 9.1.1?

I've read many people's arguments as to why one may or may not want to do this, but I do - to replicate a specific effect. My only question (really) is: if it can be done, how?
In PT, I just press record enable on the two tracks, and I am recording as I'd like - in Logic 9.1.1 I have yet to discover if, or how.....
I've tried a number of arbitrary key commands when clicking on the second track's "record enable" button, but to no avail.
    Many thanks for your replies

    Joel DuBay wrote:
I want to record on two separate stereo tracks, from the same source at the same time.
Why? Copying afterwards would yield the +exact same result.+
However, you can record two files at once: Create two audio tracks, the first takes the actual input and has its output set to say *Bus 29,* the second track has Bus 29 as an input, now you can record both tracks.
You can also use bus 13, 17 or 23. Or any other not yet in use.

  • Setting up tracks for Stylus in Logic??

I used to do this in Logic 6, but can't seem to remember how now that I'm in Logic 8.
I'm running Spectrasonics Stylus. I want to set up 8 tracks in Logic (arrange) that correspond\slave to 8 tracks of Stylus. Where would I look in the manual to get instructions how to do this?
    All ears, thank you...
    Ben

It´s really easy to do this nowadays. Simply click on the plus button in the Arrange window to create an new track; choose software instrument. Next to the square where you choose the number of new tracks, check "multi-timbral" and you´re nearly done!
In Arrange you can now see several tracks with the same instrument. Insert Stylus on one of these tracks. Every track is controlled by its own midi channel. So now you can control the different tracks in Stylus independently!
