Tracking and VOL numbers

Hi,
Some time ago I signed up for BT Broadband via topcashback. Unfortunately my system is set NOT to allow third party cookies - so the transaction did not register. In order to claim the cashback I need to be able to quote a VOL number which, I am told, is available in my confirmation of order email.
NOPE.
NOT THERE.
I have a BT reference number but no VOL.
Trying to track a transaction which has long since been completed does not work either. How do I find out what the VOL number was, please?

In the meantime two phone calls and a mere hour of my time wading through the nineteen level automated telephone system, and only getting cut off once, finally got me through to a department that could help. Not a direct option for such a request - I had to pick what I thought might be the most appropriate, best guess, "please press....". There was no "If your query does not fit any of these options please press x and wait for an operator/advisor/CS body". VOL numbers do NOT (as is stated) show in confirmation emails, (nor the dispatch advisory, nor the invoice). They ARE on the address label - which is no help if you are not aware that you might need them and so have binned the packaging; as is what happened in my case. The on-line system which presumably is meant to look up a VOL number if I can quote a BTxxxxxx order number DOESN'T. While I'm sure that your system is very efficient for queries that FIT... (at least, efficient for YOUR purposes)... they do not cover all possibilities. Adding more levels of "Please press..." is an option to be avoided because it's deep enough already - but you do NEED catch all options for everything that is not scripted. Both in the on-line "help" files, and the telephone automated system.

    2. In iMovie, similar thing ... when I go to add photos or music to a movie the iTunes files aren't present and the iPhoto photos are missing with similar messages as in #1.
    3. In iPhoto, similar thing ... when I go to add music to a slideshow it says to "Open iTunes to populate this list".
    It is shocking to me that Apple would let something as simple as a pathway link to associated library files get this messed up on an upgrade, but what's even more surprising is that with the number of people who seem to be having this particular issue (and I can tell from all the research that I've done for weeks online that there are a lot of them) that there doesn't seem to be a single clear answer to fixing it anywhere on these community support forums.  Most of what I've seen is rehashed advice from outdated issues.  What I need is a simple answer to how do we get these programs to look for the correct location of the photo and music files because I sure can't seem to find any logical place to do that through the programs' preferences files or the system preferences window?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have the same problem on a new MacBook Pro. I have not been able to access the iTunes library from iPhoto since I got this computer. I looked in the Preferences file and deleted the com.apple.iApps.plist but there was no com.apple.iApps.lockfile so I just deleted the iAPPs.plist and rebooted the computer.  Still no iTunes available in iPhoto.
    All my music is in iTunes and plays. After reading the above I brought up Pages and I was able to access music and insert a track into a document.
    Do you have any suggestions.

  • How to edit tracks and disc number?

    I have the iPod Classic 160GB, and I have a Windows 7 desktop PC which has the latest version of iTunes. I am not sure what is the latest, but I always have it up to date.
    I have a lot of playlists for my iPod, and I have it labeled by the albums, so in that particular playlist are my songs. Some are multi disc meaning some are two, or more, or some are a complete box set. I know for a fact I'm not doing this right. In my playlist, I drag over every disc of that album, and track numbers, and disc numbers are one big line of songs. Pretty much I would like to group my disc 1 together, and when all tracks play of disc 1 then it plays the next disc, and so on. Could someone please explain how in steps?

    I have to sleep... I live in the UK. Your last two posts were at 02:16 and 05:59 respectively. Like anyone else helping out here I'm doing so in my spare time. And you should have all the information by now... For a multi-disc CD give each disc the correct disc number, then give each disc the same album name. If you choose the right column to sort on (Album) the CDs are listed in order with the tracks listed in order within each CD.
    In the screenshot you posted you should enable the Track # and Album Artist columns so you can see clearly what is going on.
    In fact for a fuller picture, turn on the columns for Track #, Disk #, Album, Sort Album, Artist, Sort Artist, Album Artist and Sort Album Artist so you can see all the factors influencing the sort.
    If you sort on the Album column, set to read Album by Artist, then sorting is controlled by the first non-empty value from the following fields: Sort Album Artist, Album Artist, Sort Artist, Artist, then by Sort Album or Album, then Disk #, then Track #.

    I have 4 different projects in Logic 8 and I want to combine them all together into one big project including the tracks and automation data. Is this possible?. I have tried OMF/AAF and all the imoprt options but with only limited success(ie vol automation is copied but not pan and stereo files are force split).

    I had the same question awhile back and the answer I got .... of course in a round about way.... was no. Everyone was saying to bounce the file and then import that into the session. I mean that works but its not ideal. Its things like this that really split me on Pro Tools and Logic.

    I love logic!...but some of the terminology is so obviously confusing it boggles me. Can someone please clarify...and I do mean clarify some of this confusion.
    Arrange tracks...are not the same as channel tracks?...Arrange tracks have a channel setting which selects a "track"...The arrange track # and channel track# have nothing to do with each other.Tracks are associated...or should I say...can be linked to(but dont have to be) with audi objects.
    How do these elements fit together? I've read every book and manual and nobody has made it clear..NOBODY! Does an audio object need to be assigned to a "track". Are they essentially the same thing. or can you have a track that has no assignment to an audio object in which case it just doesn't play? If I select a track in the channel perameter box...am I essentially selecting an audio object? Or is a track a virtual pathway of sorts.
    This confusion is so blatanly obvious I cant believe it. Just draw me a flow chart for gods sake..it cant be that convoluted. Any clarification would be most gratefully accepted. THANKS

    I am not going to open up my manual and look up every term used but the 'confusion' would stem from the fact that Logic (and all DAWs) are both the mixer and media (aka the Tape). In traditional multitrack recordings that went from mixer to tape (Tracking) and then back from tape to mixer (to 2 track- tape again during Mixdown) a Channel was on the mixing board and a Track was on the tape deck. Many times you could mix the two and people would still know what you were talking about if the statement was obvious, but that is where we get those two terms.
    Since Logic is BOTH, the meanings get a little blurred. However, some of the confusion is taken away as if you record onto "Track 1" you would have to do so via Channel 1 (although not necessarily through Input 1). On split mixing desks you could track the vocal through channel 8, record it onto tape track 10 and mix it down through channel 16. DAWs don't really give you that option and you can actually see what is recorded on what channel/track etc.
    If you think that a Channel (strip) is the mixer part with the fader and inserts, etc and the space on the arrange window where the objects are layed out is the Track, that is all you need to know. HOWEVER, Logic numbers ALL TRACKS in the arrange window from 1 - xxx. You can ignore that number as it is just a numerical listing and doesn't represent any thing tangible.

    Yes you can. You can use it for a variety of uses but whatever objects are on it won't play. It is called NO OUTPUT

    Yes.You are just changing that parameter's assignment. You can have many Channels that point to the same 'track' and will read the same data etc.

    DURIM - Okay.  I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
    If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]?  We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
    Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro?  If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
    I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested.     Thanks but that doesn't give me the information I need.  I am putting an email on my ipod for people to contact me for iMessage and FaceTime but when I put the email in, it gives me an error saying that the email cannot be veirified because it is already in use.  My Apple ID can be varified, just not the email that they will contact me with.

    I want to play a single song in iTunes on my ipad and have the track stop when the song finishes, rather than itunes playing the next track.  I play guitar with the track and need iTunes to stop at the end of the song.
    I have worked around this issue by creating a separate play list for each song, then inserting the song into the play list.  I would like to find a more straight forward solution that would eliminate this extra step.  On my PC, I use QuickTime to bring up an individual song and then can play one track at a time.

    On the IPod if the shuffle icon is colored blue it is ON, if it is colored white it is OFF. This control is global, if it is ON any album or list will be shuffled.

    For what its worth to any readers that work in education and would like this play once and stop 'feature'
    I had great success in homeshareing a iTunes library of teaching material and creating topic specific playlist and used apple remote app to control an appletv connected to that homeshared library. As TXMark suggests, uncheck the songs in iTunes and the media will not automatically play the tracks in sequence.
    note: if you have video media that you would like to have in the playlist, be sure its listed as a music video in the options of get info of track. otherwise the apple tv will not see the media in the playlist and will put it in the movies section of the library.

    The only way to stop after a song is to create a playlist consisting of only that song.

    When the greyed columns are hidden and the checkbox in the Reorganize pane is checked, the two tables will appear as shown below:
    Close the reorganize pane, and the 'data entry form' is ready to use.
    To use, enter the age first, then check one of the boxes.
    As soon as one box is checked, the row will be hidden, and the next (unused) row will be shown.

    The earlier formula will give erroneous results as it subtracts only the count directly above it from its count of persons in the age range 0-n.
    In E2 of that table, replace "-E1" with "-SUM(E1:E$1)
    Fill down to E8.
    Ignore the instructions (in that post) following "Fill down to E8."

  • When I unplug my headphones my music pauses. But when I plug them back in the controls won't restart the music and I must go to the list of tracks and select a new one to start again

    I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.04
    If I am listening to music using my Apple earphones when I pull the earphones out the music pauses as expected. However, when I go back and plug the earphones in and try to play on with the music nothing happens and I have to go back to the list of tracks and select a new one from the start.
    This also is impacting my listening to music from my iPhone on my motorcuycle audio system. The iPhone is plugged into a USB port on the bike and prior to iOS7 always resumed playing music from wherever it was in a track and displayed the music track name on the bike info panel.
    Since upgrading now the music won't start and again I have to pull the iphone out of the glovebox and go back to the list of tracks and select a new track. But the moment the power interrupts or the nav audio cuts in and switches from iPod the music pauses and doen't restart as it always did.
    Apple, what have you done?? You have basically taken the very first App that made the iPod exist and stop it functioning properly. When are you going to fix this or is there already some obscure setting that needs to be changed but that is not prominently displayed in settings anywhere? How can I make my iPhone function as an iPod properly again for my music needs?

    Nothing wrong, no panic. Some general remarks:
    a. the battery will not be charged when over 95% full; a full battery is not charged
    b. it is good for the battery to have it go down to about 50% before recharging, say once a week at least.
    c. never let the battery go down completely, so that it shuts off on its own: that is very bad for a modern smart Li battery.
    d. sometimes the old "battery calibration" procedure is advised, you should not do that.
    trick: when you click the little battery icon in the top menu bar, you also see if there is a heavy energy user running.

    I had the same problem because there are so many iPod models.  There is a great article in Wikileaks that explains it all and also has pictures.  I'm confident this answer your question.

  • Problems with Refresh / Deleting Tracks and Album ...

    There are times when refreshing the Music Player library either won't complete (eg: after you've dropped the phone popping out the battery in the middle of a refresh .. or is that just me?) or deleted tracks and album art won't disappear from the Music library after a refresh.
    These problems are often down to corruption of the library and  the only thing to do is to delete the library files and start over.  Even a hard reset of the phone won't fix this as the files are stored on the card / mass memory.
    To delete the library files:
    - Ensure you can see hidden files in Windows Explorer:
    Windows Explorer .. Tools .. Folder Options .. View
    Select "Show hidden files and folders"
    - Connect the phone to your PC using the USB cable in "Data transfer" mode
    - Find and rename (or delete if you're really brave) files with names like:
    E:\private\101FFC31\mpxv1.mpd
    E:\private\101FFC31\pcv5.mpd
    E:\private\101ffca9\harvesterdb.dat
    (assuming the phone's mass memory / card has been connected as E
    Note that the folder names may be different and the files may have prefixes - eg: mpxv1.mpd could be called abcmpxv1.mpd.  Basically, you need to search under the Private folder for any files that look similar.
    If you rename files - eg: by adding a ".o" to the end of the name - instead of deleting them, you can always just change the name back if you find you need those files back.
    - Refresh the Music Player library
    This will take longer than normal as it's a complete refresh, but it should now work.

    What version of Workspace Manager are you using ? I tested this with 9.2.0.4 and everything worked as expected. I was unable to update the row from the WK2 workspace after refreshing it.
    Please note that after removing WK1, all locks that had been held by the WK1 workspace are dropped. So, when you update the row for a second time, you are actually locking the row that had been merged(which is contained in the TOP workspace) and not the row from the LIVE workspace. So any workspace that references the row from the LIVE workspace, and not the one from the TOP workspace, would be able to update the row.
    This is the case that exists before refreshing WK2. However, after refreshing WK2, it will then use the row from the TOP workspace. Since this row is locked it would be unable update the row.
