Tracking captivate interaction within AW

I been working on this project for a very long time and I've
hit just about every snag possible (I'm sure we all have at some
point). Most of the time I can figure it out and fix it. This time
I just can't seem to get it right. I use the Captivate KO in
authorware with a test I developed in Captivate. I just use AW in
this case to track all ineteractions and track whether the student
got each each question right or wrong. The problem is that it never
tracks every interaction. The score is always right, but sometimes
it leaves out a couple of "c"s or "w"s. I desparately need
assistance. Maybe there is another way to output the results of
each interaction (anyway besides email). I also have access to
Moodle. I can use that to get the scores but not sure how to get
each interaction. I have Access but no cold fusion
experience.

Dragging tracks into playlists/ within playlists suddenly a problem (itunes version 12.1.2)

I updated to 12.1.2 april 15 (its may 4 today) and literally all of a sudden this morning I cannot drag and drop any tracks into playlists, within playlists, or to devices. I can add with the right click menu option but cannot drag. I have OS X 10.10.3 and I have not made any changes to the operating system or computer. I searched google and the itunes forum and can't find any explanation that applies to my situation. Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it as quickly as possible?

i don't know... its about the most frustrating random itunes problem i've ever experienced. i still have no idea why it spontaneously started malfunctioning but i managed to "fix" it by restarting my computer... i have no idea why that seems to have worked. i saw it on a similar but not necessarily applicable thread and thought it was worth a shot before spending the next hour or so troubleshooting with apple. just looking at all the boards today trying to figure out how to fix this particular issue, there are literally so many different similar cases of so many problems with itunes that its become clear they need to start fresh... anyway, maybe see if a restart helps resolve the click and drag issue for you. good luck.

Captivate interactivity in AVI.

A customer who provided internal training using Captive 4 and SWFs asked me a question about Captivate 5 and switching to AVIs that seemed so ridiculous that I had to ask about it.
Is it true to say that you can't have Captivate interactivity in AVI, such as the control bar and quizzes, and LMS interaction ... that the AVI just a movie, period, and you get whatever controller provided by the player?
To me, that is the case. But the reason I asked is because they spent a boatload of money on this new delivery platform that to think that in all of the meetings they must have had (which I was not a part of) to prepare for it, that this matter never came up. In other words, it astounds me to think that no one asked, that I must be the one who is wrong.

SCORM 1.2 tracking Captivate 3 lesson_location

I have a client who is using Captivate 3 to author a SCORM 1.2 course. When deployed to the LMS we have experienced problems with bookmarking, in that it does not appear to work all of the time.
On investigating this further using ADL Testsuite to track the data being passed between content and LMS, I was able to establish that a "lesson_location" vary rarely written back to the LMS, even upon Save and Exit. There were a couple of slides and button interactions that trigerred data to be written to the LMS, but upon looking at the author file, there was nothing to suggest why these slides or button clicks should send back data.
I have 2 questions.
1: Is it possible to manipulate when data is being written back to the LMS, ie, can I choose when a lesson_location is saved? The solution I am looking for would be one that is native to Captivate 3 and not a custom JavaScript solution as I need to provide it to a non developer a non developer.
2: What would be the likely cause of the lesson_location being sent to the LMS on the slides and button clicks that it did happen. Understanding this, I hope will help me manipulate it.

Print button - captivate swf within falsh swf

Hi I have a nice problem and I hope someone might have an
answer for me.
I am making an interactive tool book. The design,
backgrounds, button etc are all in flash. I have also done a quiz
in captivate which has a bank of 50 questions but only 20 random
ones appear each time you do the quiz.
As you cannot import a random quiz captivate file into flash
I have made a movie clip titled container that the captivate quiz
swf. file loads into. This all works without a problem. However I
have to make a print button also in flash so the user can print
their result page (the result page is apart of the captivate file).
I have tried every print Action script I can think of;
however, none of them print the results. The page prints with all
the flash created objects (background, buttons etc) but it will not
print the end results page that appears in the movie clip titled:
container, which is located in the middle of the flash stage.
Although if I click print in the flash player file menu it
does......
Can anyone help me or have I confused you all??

Why won't linking to other captivate slides within the same project work?

I have created a Captivate 7 project which needs internal hyperlinking, (ie. the ability to move to particular slides when clicking a hyperlink or hyperlinked object) but the links don't work when I preview them using the preview next 5 slides function. I have tried everything. I even published a test project with various hyperlinks to see if it was just the previewer and they didn't work in the final, published piece (although this was a zipped file, not sure if this is interactive.)
I need a linked doc and am desperate at this point. Any thoughts?

Publish completely to a folder on your hard drive.
Make sure that folder is set up as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings:

If the linking still does not work, check quiz settings in your project to see if you have backard movement allowed and set Quiz > Settings > Required drop down to Optional. Sometimes internal jump links don't work because navigation options are limited by these settings.

Adobe SpeedGrade CC - Mask follows tracking, but effects within mask do not

I'm color grading a project from Adobe Premiere Pro CC using the direct link to Adobe SpeedGrade CC, current versions.
I have applied a primary and second layer, and within the secondary layer, I've created a mask to isolate color grading to a specific area of a person's face. Once the mask is shaped, I use the automatic 'track object' function, verify correctness, then I begin grading.
Upon finishing the grade, I have noticed that the mask itself tracks the clip correctly, but the effects that exist within the mask never move. They stay in the same location as they began in the first frame.
Is this a bug, or could someone let me know how to 'tether' the effects from within the mask to follow the boundaries of the mask?

Hey Joost I've experienced that issue before but this is a separate issue (nice to know that work around though!).
The video has not been transformed or scaled. This issue is that when you change the shape of a mask by tracking the actual mask area does not change.

Loading time of Captivate movies within LMS

Hello everyone.
My group created Captivate training modules, published them
as flash files with SCORM tagging, and are working with our LMS
team to view how the modules play within the LMS. Unfortunately we
are running into loading time issues with our movies. In my office
I have a T1 line and I still have to wait several minutes before
our movies begin to play.
Once the moduleas are loaded they play fine. It's just the
load time that I'm concerned about.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what my group can
attempt to bring down these loading times? As of now all we have
are our modules published as swf files loaded into the LMS.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

Captivate has a built-in limit of 60% loaded before it starts
playing. I
don't think that can be customized but I could certainly be
wrong.
So things you can do:
1. look to see if you can adjust the amount of the file that
can be
downloaded before the file will play. Perhaps it's just a
matter of not
including a preloading image?
2. Reduce the size of your movies so they download quicker.

Tracking Learning Interactions

Hello.
I want to be able to track if the users are completing the learning interactions. Is there a way to track these, like adding them to a quiz or tracking their clicks like buttons?

That is a screenshot of all interactions... I know there is almost no documentation about the interactions. I have been presenting about them on conferences and have created a table where I put them in categories. Maybe I should once compile all the references tables and sell them.
Like the widgets there could be normally three types of interactions, but for the moment there are only two of them: static interactions and interactive interactions. With the widget panel in former versions this was a very clear difference, you could even filter on type but that is (sadly) no longer the case for the interactions. Some interactions have associated variables, others do not.
A static interaction can be compared with a static object like an image, text container: they do not have the possibility to be scored at all. They will not appear as a scored object in the Advanced Interactions panel (F9).
An interactive interaction can be compared with an interactive object like a button, a TEB, a shape button, a click box. They can have a score and will then appear in the Advanced Interactions panel. Score can be added to the Total score of a quiz and will then be included in quiz system variables.
The game category has interactive interactions: Jeopardy, Millionaire... but not WordSearch which is a static interaction. They can be included in the Quiz score, can be tracked but beware: the score for the moment will only be a fixed number that is attributed when the game has been played, has nothing to do with the result of the game.
Most other interactions are static: dropdown, Scrolling Text, Tabs, Timeline are some examples. Some of them have a variable associated and with some advanced actions and real interactive objects you could create a score. Enough free teaching for today.

Is there a way to track the time within the clip (not sequence) that you're in?

Let me try to explain this as best I can and make sense.
I watched a video clip and I liked everything from, let's say the :30 mark to the minute mark. So, I import it into Premiere.
However, when I put it at the end of the next clip, it shows the time for the whole sequence. Now, I know that I can do the math, but is there a way to show where the 30 second mark (in this example) is by avoiding doing the calculation? It's do-able, but seems a little tedious.
Would like to "reset the clock" so to speak when working on individual clips within the timeline.

Choose the edit points in the Source Monitor before inserting to the Sequence.

Allow desktop interaction within Azure Cloud Service with third-party desktop app (automated via code)

I am developing a wrapper service as Worker Role which will take request from Service Bus and automate a third-party desktop app to produce an output file and then upload result back to our web server. The automation is accomplished with the app's
built-in .Net remoting based API. This all works on my local development machine. I am using code as below to start the desktop app. In Azure:
If I am not logged on to RDP and run the app as SYSTEM (or whatever the default WorkerRole account is), it waits forever for the MainWindowHandle.
if I start the app manually in the RDP and try to get a reference to the running process (again as SYSTEM), I get Access Denied from WaitForInputIdle.
if I start the app from code as the RDP user (ProcessStartInfo assign user/pass), I get InvalidOperationException - the app might not have a graphical interface from the WaitForInputIdle.
Could anyone suggest the proper strategy for starting processes in a Worker Role that must create a window?
For reference, I only care about the window to the extent that I need to make sure it's there. All other interaction with the process is via the .Net Remoting API.

I'd keep the app with the UI and the queue reader in the same process and account - not a worker role. On start up you launch the desktop application and the queue reader in the same account, one after another.
From what I've experienced, two users don't have the same
Window Stations, so you can't pass a window handle in a different logged-in account across that boundary. Read the Window Station documentation - you may find something that helps.
You could use other techniques like sockets to communicate cross-process and cross-window station, too.

Is there a way to preserve interactivity within a table so that users of an iBook can enter new values in selected cells and have formulas recalculated with that input?

I would like to include interactive tables that would recalculate using formulas I have written and values that the reader/user has entered into selected cells. The tables I've made in iBooks Author do contain formulas that work as expected...until exported to an iPad, then they look and act just like a static table. I am not looking for serious number crunching or high-end mathematics, although others might find great value in such capability.
To work without a reader/user accidentally (or otherwise) altering formulas or formatting it would be necessary to lock some or most cells of the table. At present all cells are locked after export. Apple doesn't seem to envision or value the functionality of such a feature; it appears to me missing from Numbers as well.

Should be near trivial to execute on with an app...
As welll, I wouldn't be surprised if a dashcode widget would fit the bill.

Deleting tracks from library within smart playlists

I use iTunes 10.6.1 (7) on Mac.
I spend some time googling and searching for solutions for my problem, but everything is either outdated or simply doesn't work.
I have a smart playlist with all songs that are matched on iTunes Match, but which are below 256k bitrate. I want to delete them from the library, so I can download new 256k versions of them.
This is supposedly possible by using Option + Delete, but that doesn't work for me. I also tried all kinds of other combinations like SHIFT + Option + Delete or CRTL + Option + Delete and none of them work.
What am I doing wrong?

I should add that I have come up with one workaround, although its very clunky.
I add a comment to all tracks in that SPL, which marks them for deletion. I then go into the main music library and filter by that comment (after adding the comment column). This now has allowed me to delete and redownload the tracks.
However I will have to do this step again every time and ofc I need to remove the comment after it is all downloaded now.
I still don't get why Option + Delete isn't working for me, as all posts that I come across state that as the "solution"

Button interactions within Scroll Panel/Content

I am creating a portfolio website using Flash Catalyst. On my Portfolio page I have a vertical scroll panel and within that panel I have little thumbnails of my artwork converted to a button component. So when the user click on the thumbnail I want the larger image to appear nearby. I make new states for the larger images within the scrolling content, but whenever I use the scroll thumb it also scroll the larger images that i want it to be in a fixed position. So is there anyway I can lock the larger image while user is able to scroll through the thumbnails. If not possible, is there anyway i can duplicate the events on the timeline from one page/state to another similar one?
If there is a better way to accomplish this please let me know too, I am all ears. If you need clarification on my issue, I will try my best to explain it through texts.

Here's a quick wireframe to illustrate the thumbnail separate from the detail image. The large images could be in their own custom component or in different states in the main timeline (per this example).
The scroll bar needs be edited to look nicer.
