Tracking Material Shortage

Our Maintenance Manager wants to track material shortages in the storeroom for unplanned maintenance orders.  If a maintenance craftsman goes to get a part from the storeroom for an unplanned order, and that material is out of stock, how do you track that?  They currently track this using an Excel spreadsheet.
He wants to run a report that shows Material; # needed, # in stock; # out of stock, date, etc
This will enable the storeroom to adjust re-order points in the future.

Hi,
If you have your material availability turn on on the work order you can display a system status "MSPT"  Material shortage
On material management you can review all your requirements per materials on transaction MMBE or when the MRP has been executed you will see your total requirements on transaction MD04
You can use multiple transaction and reports but all of them are on MM module

  • Material shortage ( soft or hard error ) while releasing production order?

    Hi Guys
I  am a SAP tech guy wrote a BDC program to release production order. It worked fine in one enviroment but not working another enviroment saying ..Material shortage.
My BDC program can't afford any hard errors in the process. The execution stop abruptly for any hard error.
How to change that Material shortage from hard error to soft error or any info message.
Any ideas? any thing to do with material master or spro?
    Thanks
    Hari

    Hi
You can make settings in SPRO, so that the material availability check will not restrict you to go further...
    follow the path:
    SPRO>Production->Shop floor control>Operations->Availability Check-->Scope of check
There you will find the settings for order creation and release (1 & 2)..
You have remove the restriction there.

  • Material-shortage list

    hi
our client business process is Variant configuration with MTO, it is an power management company they having one soft wire called maarsman in that they are not able to get Material-shortage list , please follws their problem and give me suggestion that  how i can get solution from SAP to convience my client
1.Material-shortage list is a major problem , whenever work order placed, Material-shortage list is not generated according work order, they are doing manually, so they need it should be arising automatically according to particular work order it has to be systemised through SAP
    with regards
    laxmipathi

    Hi,
    1. first define a checking group and assign this in material master.(ovz2)
2.define a checking rule 01 for created orders and 02 for released orders.(spro)
3.define the scope of check .(opjj)
    4.define the checking control.(opjk)
when you define all these the system will automatically checks the material availability during production order creation or release.
you can also do it in co24 by entering order number or material number.
    Regards,
    nandha
    you can do

  • Is it possible to release Process Order  with Material Shortage

    Hi All,
We are using PP-PI & still wants to have behavior of the PP prod order
i.e. Release Process Order with Material shortage.
    Is it Possible.
    Regards,
    Jatin

    Hi Jatin,
Go to Transaction OPJK. Select your Plant, order type and Business function as 2-Check availability during order release.
Under Material Availability tab, maintain '1- User decides on release if parts are missing' if user wants to decide for release of Process order or '2-Release permitted despite missing parts' if you want directly the Process order should be released despite of shortage in Release material field.
These settings are similar to PP.
    Please check and revert.

  • Mant. orders, Capacity load and material shortage messages on IP10 and IP30

    Hi Experts,
In customizing, If we have marked on capacity and material checks for planned work orders (Order type PM02) and maintained the finite scheduling check in work center then system only shows capacity overload message while scheduling on IP10, doesn't show any message for material shortage and finally system show both messages on work order level when we try to release that order.
On other end system doesn't show any message (capacity overload and material shortage messages) while scheduling by IP30 (Deadline monitoring) and show the same behavior as discussed above upon release.
Can anybody tell me how would I show the above missing messages on IP10 and IP30?
After creation of maintenance orders system maintaining the system status NTUP (dates are not updated) what does it meant?
    Regards,

Have a look at OIOI transaction for "order create" status and make sure to select the "check material on save" check-box for Material availability to be triggered on save.
NTUP means that the dates haven't been updated (Scheduling hasn't been done for the order).Make sure to select Automatic scheduling check box for the plant and order type in transaction OPU7 if you would like scheduling to be performed automatically on Save of the order.

  • Raw material shortage

    Hi
    Experts
I am having problem in Production order. Raw material shortage
We create Production order manually no MRP.
    Process is
(Raw material in KG converted to EA)
Cutting Order(EA), Forging Order(EA), Heat treatment order(EA), Machining order (Finish) (EA)all codes are different.
We have one raw material which is used in 5 different Products
Is there any code to find where it is used
    Thanks & Regards
    Pert

    Dear Mr Kumar
    Both the Orders are diff
    1) Cutting order material is in Kg cut in to pieces say 100 kg rod conveted to 500 pieces
then we create Production order for Forging this 500 pieces
    2) but our sap MMBE system shows Forging semifinish stock is of 900 pieces (physsically not present)
    3) Our store people say they issued material for the new order ie current which we have shortage of raw material.
    4) My issue is solved when i get back this Forging semifinish stock of 900 pieces revert to store
but my problem is i am not able to trace out the production order of which this 900 pieces are?
if i revert both forging and cutting order then automatically sap system shows the raw material
    So how to do it?
    Thanks & Regards

  • Material Shortage Calculation

    Hi All,
We want to generate a report for calculating material shortage for the material types FERT and having BOMs. Can any one suggest me how to generate the report?. What need to be considered for Demand and what need to be considered for supplies and what tcode we use to see the demand and supplies.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Anupam,Viswa
Thanks for ur reply. MD09 gives only the pegged requirements with respect to a planned order or order etc. C024 gives the missing parts information.
I am looking for generating a Shortage Report for a given material or material group in a specific plant. I am looking for logic to generate this report considering what is the demand for this material and what is the stock available for this materials.
Can u please suggest how to generate this report, what are the possible ways to create a demand for a materials, what are the possible in which stock can be generated etc.
    Thanks

  • MATERIAL SHORTAGE

When i am releasing a production order it is showing a message -material shortage.
What is the reason behind it?What should be done to solve this problem?

    Hi,
    The reason is that ,
system is carrying out an availablity check during the order release (based on OPJK setting ) during which it finds that the required qty of the components for this header material are not available in stock  and sets the status MSPT.
It will be a warning message and still you can proceed and save the order.
If you dont want the availability check to happen during order release , remove the setting in OPJK .
or If  you want to correct , post the stock and check the availablity again in the order ,  the message will not appear.
    Regards,
    Sheik

  • How to track material consumption before closing of Production Order

    Hi all,
My customer needs to track online material consumption in Profit & Loss statment.
Now when we take trials, we found that if we do not close a production order then Change in stock a GL under Expenditure drawer is not updated, and also the cost of good sold is only updated when we post sales delivery transaction.
Now the issue is that my customer wants to track online material consumption, meaning once material is issued for a production order then it should appear in P & L  under expenditure.
We are using default valuation method as Standard for the Finished Good Item group, due to which WIP Inventory variance GL (we are using Change in Stock under Expenditure drawer of COA) gets updated on closing of work order. Second GL Cost of Goods Sold gets update on posting Sales Delivery. The difference of these two GL shows correct Material consumption, but for this we need to post Production Order close and Sales Delivery transactions.
    I wish  to know that
1.Is it possible to track online material consumption in SAP B1 ?
(Here online meaning if we post only material issue transaction, and we do not have posted production order close and sales delivery transactions )
2.If yes, how to achive it?
    Best regards,

Is your BOM's set to backflush? Yes
Have you specified seperate WIP accounts for each item group? Yes
Answer to your both question is Yes.
Thanks for your interest in the message.

  • Tracking Material Delivery post Goods Issue

    Hi Friends -
My client has a requirement to track the materials post goods issue to the user departments for consumption.
Typical scenario - the materials reservations are raised from the user departments. The reservations are processed by the warehouse team. Then materials are issued to the user departments against the reservations.
The user departments and warehouses are far apart from one another. The materials are transported and sent to the user departments periodically once a week or twice a week.
We want to track the different stages of the delivery post goods issue.
    The different stages are
    1. Post Goods Issue against the Reservation
    2. Staging the materials
    3. Packing the materials
    4. Loading on the Transport Vehicle
    5. Delivery (in transit)
    6. Delivery Confirmation (post material delivery to user department)
Can you pls provide me details how we can map this on WM?
    Thanks and warm regards
    Purnendu

    Hi Frenchy,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
We are at the Design phase and proposing SAP - MM - Inventory Management as a proposed solution.
The client uses part of the warehouse management functionality. We are exploring the feasibility of using SAP -WM Lean Warehouse management functionality.
Can you pls advise us whether Lean Warehouse Management will be able to provide the required functionality?
The requirement is to track the internal movement of materials from Warehouse to User department for consumption/use.
    Typical Scenario -
    1. Materials are issued against Reservations from Store -
Different stages such as Picking, Packing, Staging, delivery and delivery confirmation has to be tracked.
    2. Direct Purchase of materials - Goods are received against acount assigned purchase Orders. The materials are received in store and kept in a staging area for delivery. The Materials are treated as consumed at goods receipt.
Now these materials will be transferred to the User departments. The different stages of delivery has to be tracked in system.
Ps provide input on the above. Let me know if you need any clarification.
I will really appreciate your prompt reply on the same.
    Thanks and warm regards

Now I want to track this changes. Is there any way out Plz help

    Hi,
Check whether you have activate the OCM ( Change Management for Production Order ) in your system (In tocde : OPL9 and OPL7), if it is activated then only you can see the changes carried out in an order other wise you can only check the High level like when the last change was carried out and by whom.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Material shortage for Planned Order (Discrete Job) in PWB

Client has planned orders on planner workbench (PWB) ready to release as Discrete Jobs but, because they have frequent revisions, they waits till all components (required to build job) are onhand before releasing from PWB.
They would like an easy way to either check or be notified when the last component required for job is received into inventory so they can release from PWB. They cannot use the standard "Discrete Job Shortage Report" as the job is not created yet. And they don't want to release from PWB till ALL material is onhand
Could we create a custom report perhaps (using same logic as "WIP Mass Load" to determine all component required versus onhand), but does anyone have a better solution how we can solve this?
    Regards,
    Hugh

    1) Why would you check for components of subassemblies? e.g. Say your BOM looks like this.
FG1 is made up of SA1 and SA2 and COMP1.
SA1 is made up of COMP2 and COMP3.
Say you are releasing planned order for FG1. As long as the planned order is pegged to onhand for SA1, SA2 and COMP1, you are good. Right?
    2) If you have to add custom logic, I would do it using a when-validate-record personalization on the PWB. The personalization will call a function that accepts order number ; does all pegging checks and returns true or false. If it returns false, then the personalization returns error and does not allow release of the planned order. The function will have to be an interative program that traverses the pegging loop to ensure that all lowest level demands are pegged to onhand.
    Hope this helps

  • Report to inform potential material shortages for shipment

    Hi Everyone:
I need some suggestions from you with regards to a report which i am going to develop. The report consist of the following fields:
    1. Material #
    2. Material Description
    3. PO #
    4. PO Quantity open
    5. Related vendor with which the PO is associated.
    6. Due date
    7. Inventory (Excluding QC hold inventory) - safety stock - firm released requirement accelarated by 5 working days(Not planned reqt)
    8. sort by plant, purc group.
We need only the negative values (below zero qty) to be displayed in the report as a positive value.
The basic purpose of the report is to inform the user that they are falling short of this amount of material for a due date.
I guess we need to use IM/MM/PP areas to fetch the reqd result. Or is there any std report wich suits this reqt. I would be glad if you experts can guide with this regard. You will be awared with points.
    Thanks
    kalyan

    Hi
There are no direct reports which is fulfilling your criteria
But there are two reports which fulfills your requirement mostly.
    The first report is RM06EW00
Execute the report in SE38. You will get all the details about material, mater desc, vendor, PO, due date everthing
This report is MM report with more impetus on Purchasing documents
One more report is RMMMBEST. This is IM report
When you execute this report you will get Stock details under different heads on any day chosen
You can go through this reports to find the best suited one for you or you can merge them to form a new report to fulfill your requirement
    Assign points if useful
