Just started having this problem...whenever I download an app the icon will not move. I've held down the track pad (torch 9810) & nothing pops up. I've hit the menu button & nothing will come up, dida battery pull, deleted and reintalled apps, so can not move my apps into the folders I want them in...well I can't move them at all. Thank you for your help. I'm new here so if you have a solution you may have to break it down like I'm a 2 year old lol. Thanks again!!Hello,
Is there a reason you now have three separate threads on this identical topic? I realize you are new, so I will break it down for you.
Posting the exact same topic into multiple separate threads is considered rude. You see, look at what has now happened...I have read all of your threads on this redundant topic. Even though I have no idea how to resolve your issue, I have now wasted time reading all of the redundant stuff...which takes time away from other users that perhaps I could have helped. Now that time is gone, and can never be recovered.
Further, in your other threads, there are responses. While those may not have worked, anyone who comes across this thread will not see those responses...and will very likely give you the same advice, which will only frustrate you since you've already tried those things.
It is much better etiquette to have just one thread for your issue, putting all comments and replies into that one thread. That way, everyone can see the full progression of the issue along with all that has already gone on.
I suggest you choose one of your threads to be the "master". Mark the other threads as "solved" and work your issue in just that one place.
Good luck.

My Torch trackpad was working fine, and suddly has stopped working i have checked sensitivity i hav rebooted by using restart app i have pulled battry out left it for a few seconds and also for over a minute but still not working?
Please helpHello asift,
Some days ago I had the same problem with the same BB type : During the start of the problem, the trackpad worked again for some days (in the end some hours and finally no more) after a warm power shut down (take battery out during functioning of gsm).
Actually this solution does not work anymore.
I read on the Forum somewhere that pushing continuously the trackpad during cold start up (after battery move) gives sometimes result. No solution to mine BB Torck 9800 but maybe you can try it.
Anyway, I think that the BB Torck 9800 has an allover problem with its trackpad.
The Administrator (FozzyBear) proposed me to try the resolutions mentioned in article ID KB 29640 instruction (you will find it on the BB internet support, but none of these resolutions gave me a solution for the trackpad. Unfortunately!
Let me know if you find any solution.
Succes!

Torch 9800 Music player - Delete track while playing issue
Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can shed light on this issue: here's what i do
1. Open Music Player
2. start playing a track (in All Songs, shuffle mode)
3. If I wish to delete this track I then open the slider keyboard
4. Hit the [Del] key
5. Select [Yes] to delete the track
6. The track stops playing (obviously since it's deleted now)
7. the player then skips to the next track (as expected)
BUT....
8. The screen displays the incorrect song details for the track that is NOW playing (other random track in my collection) on screen until I hit stop and then play again to display the correct song details.
Anyone ANY ideas why this might be and whether it'll be fixed in any future updates... it's really frustrating
Thanks
StevenAlso, if you delete the track means available when playing another track - the name and picture of the current change to the name and image of the previous list, which should not be.

Is there a keylogger or tracker on my computer?
Hi, I have reason to belive there might be some sort of spying software/keylogger installed on my computer without my consent. I am 18 and the laptop I'm using was purchased for me by my mother about a year or two ago. She's one of those paranoid mothers who logged all my aim chats and stuff as a child and I'm afraid she is still set in those ways. I think, however, at 18 I deserve my privacy on my computer. Sometimes when I'm talking to her she likes to joke that she should go through my laptop and see what I'm drawing (I do alot of art on my laptop that I don't like to show people cause I'm self-concious about my work.) and when I tell her she couldn't get on if she tried she makes this mocking face like she knows something I don't. This has made me very paranoid as I really don't like the idea of her snooping through my files and stuff. Shes always boasting about how good she is with computers, but I once made up a bunch of computer gibberish non-sense and she tried to look like she knew what I was talking about...So maybe she is just bluffing? I was looking though /Library/LaunchDaemons and found the .plist file relating to the program Undercover which moniters your laptop in case it's stolen, sends screenshots and takes photos with the webcam. I never installed this program. I DID install the program PREY just in case someone ran off with my laptop in Starbucks or something. What I want to know is if there are any other keyloggers or trackers installed on my computer so I can get rid of them. I ran some commands in terminal and these were my results-

Does any of this look funny to you? Are there any other tests/programs/comands I can run to do a more thorough check? Sorry if this seems like a silly issue but my privacy matters to me. I don't do anything horrible on my computer but I also don't think I should be being watched 24/7 like a child.Hi Linc,
I had the same question as everyone else. Here is my output. Do you know if I have tracking software installed? Thank you so much for your time/help. Your expertise is much appreciated!

BlackBerry Torch 9800 V.S. iPhone 4G: which is better for playing DVD/Video
Though BlackBerry continue to be extremely popular, it's no secret that RIM needed to step up its game and really work on improving and advancing its operating system. And over the past few months, the company has given us previews of a refreshed OS. The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800 is the first device to ship running BlackBerry OS 6 and will be available starting August 12 for US$199.99 with a two-year contract. The slider phone--a first for RIM--brings together a touchscreen and physical keyboard into a solid, compact design. The new OS brings some much-needed and welcome additions, including a better browser, an enhanced multimedia experience, and improved user interface. Sure, in the grand scheme of things, none of this is new but at least it puts RIM back on track. So we thought it might be a good idea to compare BlackBerry Torch 9800 with the iPhone 4G to find out, which one is a better smartphone. In this article, we have compared some of the key features available on the new BlackBerry smartphone with Apple's iPhone 4G.
Go here to view the origional full post:
http://bestvideoconvertersoftware.blogspot.com/2010/08/blackberry-torch-9800-vs-iphone-4g.htmlWhich carrier did you use in India with the Blackberry 9800?? As Tmobile only work with GSM network.
Now you said you swtich from IPHONE back to the Blackberry 9800. Do you have a Blackberry DATA plan now on tmobile? No just the regular data plan. As regular data plan does not work with Blackberry. -
Morningstar mobile app on Torch 9810
After over a month of callikng Morningstar.com, they finally admit that they will NOT be attempting to fix their mobile app for the Torch 9810. They claim it's an OS 7 problem with RIM.
HELP! I'm a stockbroker, and rely heavily on that mobile app to track my clients' positions.
Problems: Can get market quote. Cannot log on. Get a "connection failed" message. If I can log on (rarely) I get one stock quote, then it freezes. Portfolios's columns do not line up with ticker symbols.
I have deleted, reinstalled, and rebooted 4 separate times, so please don't suggest that. Can anyone at RIM help, please?
Don't make me get an iPhone!Hi and Welcome to the Community!
First off -- to set your expectation re your question for help from RIM. This site has nothing to do with any formal support from, escalation to, nor communication with RIM for any purpose whatsoever. This site is a user-to-user community of volunteers who try and help each other out as best they can. So, the answer to that question is no -- not by virtue of posting here.
The responsibility for apps rests with the app developers...it is fascinating that Morningstar has chosen to blame OS7...sorry, but I sense an "excuse" rather than any rational reasons in that. There are tons of apps that have all been ported to OS7 just fine...
In any event, for your situation, your only option would I guess to be to fall back to an OS level that the app indeed is compatible. Before you pursue that, though, get Morningstar to tell you the EXACT OS levels (4 octets) that you need in order to ensure proper compatibility with their app. Then, you can seek those out and install them to your BB via this process:
Before you start, you may want to be sure you have a solid backup from which to restore (just in case)...refer to this:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/General-BlackBerry-Functions-and/Backup-the-data-on-your-Blac...
Also, if you are on BES, you will need to work with your BES admins for everything...they may or may not allow certain OS levels, and you need to ensure that your BB re-activates properly to BES.
Atthetopofeachdeviceforum, thereshouldbesome "sticky" threadsthatdiscusstheOSlevelsavailableformanymodels. Iftheyincludeyourmodel, thenpleaseusethoseasreferenceasyouproceed. Otherwise, youwillhavetodigthroughtheofficialdownloadportalforOSpackagesforyourmodel:
http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

Everything on my blackberry torch is wiped out
Everything on my blackberry torch is wiped out and gone back to its default settings and language which is not english. first how do i change it back to english.
secondly how do i get my contacts and messages back.
Please I need a reply ASAPTo get your language back on track, from your homescreen go to Options>Typing and Input>Language and make sure everything is set to English. Now press the menu key and select Save.
As for getting your contacts and messages back, if you didn't do a data backup via Desktop Manager, you can't retrieve them. Backing up your data on a regular basis is not only crucial, it's the only way to retrieve such information in a situation such as this.
- If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated. -
Hi, thinking of getting a new Blackberry but I'm a bit nervous of buying into a potentially buggy phone with all the rumours of RIM going belly up.
What have been the most typical issues with Torch, especially the newer models?
I know with my Curve, as much as I've loved it, it is only a year old and has had problems with randomly rejecting its SIM card (new SIM card = $$$ and pain in the butt to have to go visit the store etc.), track pad stops working at times, keyboard backlight stops working at times (usually when I'm in the dark of course), and now the display is hooped. So, maybe that extended warranty would have been worth it but since I still have to pay out the remainder of my contract on that phone before I can get new, I'm thinking that diving into another Blackberry adventure could be problematic even WITH extended warranty if support will no longer be available for it?
On the other hand, I DON'T like the layout of iphone, and I found Blackberry to be pretty intuitive to learn and use comfortably, plus the price is right on my phone plan at the moment. IF ongoing support is going to be available, I would prefer to stick it out with Blackberry.

The navigator keypad (I think that's what it is called) on my Torch...The thing that has the BB key, track pad, back button...is cracked....I can get a new one of those, no problem. What i need, though, are those clear plastic/rubber ' things that go under the keypad to allow contact with the button sensors. Somewhere I saw/heard that it is may be called a 'mylar layer'...not sure....Now, though, I only see a mylar layer for underneathe the keyboard, which I don't need.
The cracks are from having to really press down hard to get the buttons to works since i lost those little clear rubber/plastic things.
I appreciate any insight anyone has!!!Hi Clairey19,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
To rule out any possible software issue that may be causing your BlackBerry® Torch™ smartphone to switch off and the keyboard to not function, please try to back up and perform a clean reload of your BlackBerry® Device Software. For further instructions, please see the following KB articles.
For Windows®: "How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows" http://bbry.lv/GI9beY
For Mac: "Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer" http://bbry.lv/J0UN1U
Please test to make sure both issues have been resolved before restoring any data from your backup file.
Hope this helps.

Track pad problem! Read. Please answers if you know...
Hi,
Recently my dad gave me his old blackberry curve as he purchased the new blackberry torch. It worked fine for a week then the tracked stopped and I couldn't move around on my phenomenal the other buttons worked I could type BBM but the tracked didn't work, but shortly after, after I turned it off and on it started working again, so I thought it was just a glitch. Then it kept happening until on day about a week back it stopped and didn't move. So I got a new tracked fitted for £20 then it worked, I was really pleased. But then the next day it stopped. I figured out that if you push in the back it starts working again? It has been treated well. Is there any thought or was to fix this please....UPDATE: I have learned that my problem is related to a "resourse folder" which must go wherever the file goes in order for it to have sound. This is a bit inconvinient for me, as my client is computer illiterate. I really want to find a way to just embed the sound into a file that you can just open and play. To the best of my knowlege, SWF format is the only format that allows for the page turning animation. Does anyone know a way to embed the sound into the SWF file or am I SOL here?

Torch frozen on restore after software update
I updated my software wirelessly last night through software updates on the device. It went through the download process fine, but as soon as it went to "restoring your data" it froze at 37% overall progress(if im remembering correctly) it said at the time Brio Calorie Tracker 0%. So after several hours of it not changing from that % i did a hard reset as recomended in these forums. when going through the restore process again it froze at 2% overall progress and again 0% progress on Brio Calorie Tracker. Repeated hard resets have given me the same result. Last night I let it sit overnight for 8 hours and it did not budge or change in any capacity, still 0% Brio calorie tracker and 2% overall restore progress. I'm at the end of my rope here and have no idea what to do now. I've also tried connecting to blackberry desktop software, including while doing hard resets and it won't let me. It will just say on the device screen that I cant access anything on the device while a restore is in progress.
HELP please!Well, that's a little more than I wanted you to do, but it's still a good thing. I was going to have you simply remove the application file for that calorie counter app, but now we'll have to do an OS reload.
Just go through with the following instructions to reload the device software:
Disconnect your device.
Download the most current OS for your device, which you'll find in the link below. It's a German website, but the download link is readily apparent.
http://www.vodafone.de/business/blackberry-support/blackberry-torch-9800_158961.html
On your PC, navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\AppLoader. Delete the file at the bottom called vendor.xml.
Connect your device.
In that same folder as above, there's an executable file called Loader (has a little phone next to it). Double click on that and it will start loading your OS.
Oh, I'd recommend you NOT reload that application again.

Hello,
I plugged my Torch in overnight to charge. When I woke up in the morning, the phone would not turn on so I took the battery out a few times and tried to reset it. When I plugged it into the charger and tried to turn it on, I got the battery symbol with a red X through it.
Does anyone know how to fix this?? Thank you!1. Plug your charger into your BlackBerry and then into a power source (wall socket or car-charging socket, depending on your type of charger). If the screen does not immediately default to the full display clock or if the battery icon at the top left of your screen does not show the charging emblem, then the problem is with your charger. The connectors at the ends of the chargers will become loose after a period of use, and you may have to replace them. If your BlackBerry is charging just fine, proceed with the next step.
2. Unplug the charger from your phone.
3. Look at the battery icon at the upper left corner of your screen. If you see a red line across the icon, then the BlackBerry has detected that there is something wrong with the battery and you need to replace it. If there is no red line across the icon, proceed to the next step.
4. Time the charge. With the battery icon showing that you have a full charge, keep track of the time your battery lasts. If you are getting less then three hours of talk time, your battery is not working properly. If you are getting less than six hours of standby, again, your battery is not working. If you unplug the phone from the charger and it immediately turns off, your battery is completely dead and needs to be replaced.
Good luck!
