Tracking user time spent on site.......

Hello Friends,
I want to track total time spent by user on my site, after he logs in.
User session time out time is 15 minutes. How can i trace how much time he has spent in total on the site?
Can anyone help me in this?
Thanks in advance.
regards,
Kalpesh

All you can know is what time the user accessed the pages and servlets on your site. Page accesses are logged by the web server and servlet accesses can be logged by code in the servlets. Once the page is downloaded to the user's browser, you can't tell if the user looked at it for 5 minutes or looked at it for 10 seconds and then left the room.

  • CS5 keeping track of time spent with a project

    I am not sure, if this would qualify as a feature request, or if there is a feture i have just not found yet.
    Also i am not sure, if this is or is not a technical question.
    Often i would like to know, how many hours i have already spent with one project. So is there any possibility in Premiere / and or After Effects, to see that sort of stats?
    Maybe i should find the consistency to keep a book, a pen and a watch on my desk, but i find that hard at times...

    Yeah, Bill that sounds interesting, a third party tool that keeps track, when a file (in this case pproj) is open / being used.
    (so much for on topic...)
    Rod:
    Too bad, megaplayground has no homepage up (but who am i to judge, i am not a webdesigner, so it takes me quite a while to get my portfolio reworked and by the time it is finally finished, i don't like it anymore, then i start again and the dog bites it's own tail.)
    I am sorry, but i'm not sure, what exactly you want to know from me there.
    I suppose, you ask about stuff that interests you...
    Are they working on AVID, FCP, Pr, Media100 ?
    I am quite familiar with AVID in larger companies, have only very basic knowledge of FCP, learned the job on Media100, but that was a couple of years ago and i would say my experiences with Pr are somewhere in the middle.
    So i don't feel like i could tell you any smart questions to ask...
    Make sure to ask them, if they need someone for editing and Motion Graphics, i would love a trip to nyc for a few months
    If you're just getting into this stuff, why don't you just enjoy the tour, chat up the hot girl at the front desk (don't know why, but they always seem to be singles) and check out the coffe?
    and there are no dumb questions within or beyond the basics, dumb questions don't exist, the term "dumb question" is only used by people that are not willing or unable to help but at the same time want to make sure, they're seen as a smarter guy than the inquirer...
    So happy that's something that is not happening inside this forum as far as i have experienced... there are others, and that's also why i am here.
    (was all of that english? it's way past beer fourtyfive and i'm not a native speaker)
    aaanyway, have a fun tour and if they run avid, ask them, why their unity writes much bigger files and needs huge raids in comparison to single workstation setups
    i think, i am overdoing it a bit with the winking smileys, i hate them and am thinking of a splatter movie involving some guys with faces like these...
    What was the OPs topic again? [no, i will not use this smileyfunction now! i am strong, i can resist this childish urge! they will not have my soul! damn.]

  • Keeping track of time spent on mac

    Hi,
    I have 3 kids and I'd like to keep tabs on how much time they spent on the computer. I know I can check login times through terminal but is there another cheap or free program that lets me do that with an easier interface? I also have a PC networked to the Mac and would like to keep track of that one as well.

  • Tracking the average time spent by the user

    Hi everyone
    I'm working on a system that will track the time spent in my application by each user, The only Idea I found is:
    Log every session start time and sessionID and then update it when the session is closed. This approach won't give me an accurate results
    Anyone have a better idea ?
    Thanks

    A realistic approach would be to send the 'time this page was generated' as a hidden-field in the forms.  When the data comes back, examine the
    value and, if it is reasonable, use it to calculate your elapsed-time.
    For an inward-facing (intranet) application, this strategy is pretty reasonable and robust.  It's not the only way (you could use Session variables, for instance), but it ought to work pretty well.  It certainly has the compelling advantage of being quite easy to do . . .

  • Best program to monitor time spent on FCP, Motion, Soundtrack Pro?

    I run a small company as a free lance doc-film maker and was wondering if anyone could recommend the best program for keeping track of time spent working on Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Soundtrack Pro projects for my clients.
    I'd like a program that tracks how long I spend on each Final Cut Studio application, like that I can itemize my billing to clients...so many hours spent editing in FCP, doing effects in Motion, even internet research on Safari when looking for photographic/film archives.
    Thanks very much in advance to anyone who can help me,
    - Nicholas

    In general I'd say a spreadsheet or text document and your own diligence are close enough to get an idea, as charging for the time spent in software isn't going to make you a lot of money.

  • I have an iPhone 4S, iPad and MacBook Air.  I'm looking for an app or program where I can track time spent of specific projects each day and also document details of each project.  Is there anything available that is synced through iCloud?

    I have an iPhone 4S, iPad and MacBook Air.  I'm looking for a program or app that I can sync though iCloud that will allow me to us all of these devices to track time spent on projects each day along with the ability to add specific information about each project.  Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!

    I recommend you consider Omnifocus.  It is a task management program which runs on the Mac, Iphone & Ipad. I use it for task management and project management.  It let's you store additional information as well.   I sync all three devices through a Mobile Me account and I can enter data on any device and it is available on all devices.  I believe you can also sync through Dropbox.  I'm not sure that you can sync through iCloud yet.  The link to their website is:  www.omnigroup.com.  There may be less expensive alternatives, but this one meets my needs and syncs very well across all devices.

  • Time Spent by the user in the system and No. of transactions executed

    Hi,
                Can anyone tell, if there exists any tranaction/report to get the details of the Time Spent by the User in the system and No. of transasction run by User in a given period of time?
    If I get the names of tables where SAP stores this information in, then that also will be helpful.
                Thank you!!!

    Hello Pranali,
    the time spent by a user (which is the difference between login and logout) is <b>not</b> stored anywhere.
    STAD and/or ST03 will not help here as only the time of the login could be determined from the workload statistics. The time of the logout cannot be retrieved from the workload data (as this action doesn't contain any "logout specific" information).
    As a workaround you can use the Security Audit Log (sm19) to protocol the logon and logoff of the users. Based on this information you should be able to calculate the time a user was logged on.
    About the number of transactions:
    the workload analysis only uses dialog steps. As the number how often a transaction was called doesn't contain any useful information this information is <b>not</b> collected.
    E.g. you can call su01 to create 100 user accounts or call ten times su01 to create one user. The workload creating 100 users will be higher than the workload of the remaining ten transactions...
    So the figures 1 transaction vs. 10 transactions doesn't provide any useful information.

    Like we have OOTB portlet for logins, page trtaffic and all. Is there any OOTB portlet available for the above requirement ?
    If not is there any table in activities schema which will give me this information ?

  • Tracking users in the Application.cfc, please help

    Hello;
    I wrote a small tracking system for my web site. I am trying
    to upfrade it to work in CF 8. Here is what I am doing.
    I had this code on the index.cfm page of my site. I am
    attempting to move it to the Application.cfc file. When I do, it
    registers in the DB every time the user hits a page or clicks a
    link. I don't want it to do that. I do want it to tell me when they
    hit the site, and if I can what page they came in on.
    Here is my code:
    <cfquery name="tracking" datasource="my-DB"
    dbtype="ODBC">
    INSERT INTO tracking (REMOTE_ADDR, HTTP_USER_AGENT,
    TRACK_DATE, PageID)
    VALUES('#REMOTE_ADDR#', '#HTTP_USER_AGENT#',
    #CreateOdbcDateTime(now())#)
    </cfquery>
    My pageID is where I want the information on what page the
    user came in on to go.
    I placed teh query inside a session function code, but it
    doesn't work at all right now, I need to limit the hits counted by
    the Application.cfm, if I place it inside the area of the app that
    is for global variables, it adds info to the DB everytime they
    click a link and I don't want that. As for the entry page of the
    user, I am trying to make it so if someone enters the site lets say
    on the about.cfm page, that is added to the db and so on. Is this
    possible? If so how would I do that?
    Here is my application.cfc code so far:
    <cfcomponent output="false">
    <cfset THIS.name = "my-web">
    <cfset this.sessionManagement="yes">
    <cfset this.clientManagement=true>
    <cffunction name="onApplicationStart" returntype="boolean"
    output="false">
    <cfset APPLICATION.appStarted = now()>
    <cfreturn true>
    </cffunction>
    <cffunction name="onApplicationEnd" returntype="void"
    output="false">
    <cfargument name="appScope" required="True">
    <cflog file="#THIS.name#" text="App ended after
    #dateDiff('n' , ARGUMENTS.appscope.appStarted,now())# minutes.">
    </cffunction>
    <cffunction name="onSessionStart" returntype="query"
    output="true">
    <cfquery name="tracking" datasource="creative"
    dbtype="ODBC">
    INSERT INTO tracking (REMOTE_ADDR, HTTP_USER_AGENT,
    TRACK_DATE)
    VALUES('#REMOTE_ADDR#', '#HTTP_USER_AGENT#',
    #CreateOdbcDateTime(now())#)
    </cfquery>
    </cffunction>
    <cffunction name="onRequestStart" returntype="boolean"
    output="true">
    <cfset request.datasource = "my-db">
    <cfset sitePath = "
    http://www.myweb">
    <!--- this is where I was putting the tracking code and it
    added to the DB everytime someone clicked a link. not what I want
    --->
    <!--- Start True Url Variables --->
    <cfloop
    list="#removeChars(cgi.path_info,1,len(cgi.script_name))#"
    delimiters="/" index="variableSet">
    <cfscript>
    variableName = "url." & listGetAt(variableSet,1,'.');
    expression = listGetAt(variableSet,2,'.');
    </cfscript>
    <cfparam name="#variableName#" default="#expression#">
    </cfloop>
    <!--- Finish True Url Variables --->
    <cfreturn true>
    </cffunction>
    </cfcomponent>
    Thank you.
    Phoenix

    I did a dump and got it to error out, so it is recognizing
    the session, but it doesn't add any info to the DB. I also had to
    change it, I had it like this:
    <cffunction name="onSessionStart" returntype="query"
    output="true">
    <cfquery name="tracking" datasource="my-db"
    dbtype="ODBC">
    INSERT INTO tracking (REMOTE_ADDR, HTTP_USER_AGENT,
    TRACK_DATE)
    VALUES('#REMOTE_ADDR#', '#HTTP_USER_AGENT#',
    #CreateOdbcDateTime(now())#)
    </cfquery>
    </cffunction>
    Changed it to this:
    <cffunction name="onSessionStart" returntype="any"
    output="true">
    <cfquery name="tracking" datasource="creative"
    dbtype="ODBC">
    INSERT INTO tracking (REMOTE_ADDR, HTTP_USER_AGENT,
    TRACK_DATE)
    VALUES('#REMOTE_ADDR#', '#HTTP_USER_AGENT#',
    #CreateOdbcDateTime(now())#)
    </cfquery>
    </cffunction>
    it was erroring on the query attribute before in the session
    function. Even that change didn't get it to work properly.

  • Tutorial - how to track user progress in a Captivate movie

    I wanted to start working with the new scripting capabilities
    in Captivate 4 and thought a good first project would be to create
    a set of variables and custom actions and execute the actions based
    on the state of the variables. I wrote up a description/walkthrough
    with screenshots and the source .cp is downloadable here:
    http://elearninglive.com/wordpress/2009/01/tracking-user-progress-in-captivate-4-using-var iables-and-actions/
    Hopefully it proves useful to others!
    A couple of things I mention at the bottom of the post in
    regards to the new features in CP4:
    1. The actions window is amazingly slow once you add more
    than a handful of actions. Perhaps it's just my machine? I have a
    very fast machine with lots of ram, but perhaps it's something
    unique to my environment?
    2. You can't 'chain' actions. In other words, you cannot use
    'execute multiple actions' setting to execute user-created actions,
    just the built-in ones, which seems to me a pretty big limitation.
    I had to work around it.
    3. As an add-on to #1 above - there is no way to
    import/export code. Since the actions window is so slow it would be
    ideal if we could just import code written in a text file, or
    better yet, have a simple code editor (like the actions panel in
    Flash).
    My 2 cents, fwtw, as a new CP4 user....

    The biggest problem Authorware had was poor marketing. Second
    was it had no
    way to natively create the eye-candy that Flash was wowing
    the world with.
    Third, there was no attempt by Macromedia modernise
    Authorware with a lot of
    very basic things that would have made a huge difference to
    everyone's
    perception of the tool
    Fourth, Marketing kept telling people Authorware was dead,
    from about
    Authorware 5. I think the Flash team was on a bonus for
    converting people

    I think it is clear to those of us that have had to move to
    Captivate from
    Authorware that Captivate is *very* lacking in specific
    advanced features
    and functionality that old hands are used to. As with any
    product, users are
    bombarding adobe with requests that boost the power and scope
    of Captivate.
    It's a natural progression.

  • How to Find Actual Time Spent on a TASK in TFS 2013 by using the scrum template

    Hi! Currently we are using the TFS 2013 version with Scrum template this template contains only Remaining work measure for Task item and there is no
    other option for getting the Actual time spent on particular Task and Bug having the option called Effort. How to find the Actual Time spent or Actual effort hours on particular TASK is it possible? In the similar way the Agile Template having the These options
    like
    1 Original Estimate
    2 Completed Work
    3 Remaining Work
    Can i use these 3 for Scrum Templete also?
    We require the feature similarly like Atlasian JIRA product (JIRA consist the Actual time, Estimation Time and Log).

    The Scrum template doesn't have these fields, tracking "spent time" is not really in line the philosophy of Scrum. it's tracking data that is not really useful anyway, unless you have to do some form of reporting. In which case you probably already
    have a system to track time in at a higher level.
    The way TFS tracks time is very hard to use when you have a highly collaborative team, it would require you to create tasks for each person contributing to a task or constant re-asssigning of tasks to track the correct time spent. How else would you track
    two peopleworking together? Pair programming, for example is a practice we at scrum.org highly promote. As well as pairing a tester and a developer up on applying ATDD when working on a story together. When a story is taking "too long" to move off
    the board a technique called swarming is often applied, in which all team members help out to move the story along at a higher pace or to get it unstuck. These ways of workign are very, very, very hard to capture in TFS. But we think the threshold to use these
    techniques should be very low. People should default to these ways of working and not be punished by bad functioning tooling.
    As mentioned by Alexandr, you can extend the Scrum template with the same fields the MSF templates use, but I would not recommend it. Instead, if you need to track time, first consider doing it in different tool and at a different level than task. Maybe
    feature, activity or product backlog item.
    If you still want to track time, then a tool like
    Imaginet Time Sheet can extend TFS in ways that make it a lot easier to track time against any work item.
    As a last resort, consider
    adding the fields from the MSF template, but I beg you to reconsider.

  • I'm in need of a variable that I can use to display total time spent in a course.

    I'm attempting to create a custom certificate of completion that a learner can print at the end of a course.
    I'd like to have the total time spent in the course displayed on it but am not sure about the variable to use.

    Thanks for the quick reply!
    I was hoping for a quick solution to have the elapsed time appear only on a printable certificate of completion.
    Unfortunately, this goes beyond my limited knowledge and experience in using variables. (Admittedly, I'm not a frequent Captivate user)
    Thanks again!

  • A report for time spent on website?

    Is there a report within SawMill that I can pull that would show the amount of time that an authenticated user is spending on a website?
    Currently using S650 with 5.5.2-036 for Web

    Joell,
    There is a report by default:
    Resource -> Time by User Name
    This should provide the data that you are looking for. However, please be advised that this is NOT an accurate science.
    Sawmill can only see when a request for a website is made. It cannot actually know how much time a user has spent looking at the website (eyeball time).
    Sawmill makes a best guess using it's own algorithm and metrics to be as accurate as it can be, which depending on the situation, may not actually be accurate.
    For example, if a user goes to a website once and then never goes again, how do you gauge how long they spent browsing it?
    According to the logs, the requests took 1 second to load. Sawmill may assume that a single request with no subsequent requests is equal to 5 minutes of browsing.
    The user might have spent 30 seconds and then closed the browser. Or the user could have downloaded the entire script to Macbeth and read it all day long.
    I cannot provide more specifics on the actually algorithm used by Sawmill, but I did want to make you aware of the caveats on assumed time based reports.

  • User missing from all site collections but present in User Profile (Central Admin)

    I have a user who does not show up in "People and Groups" (or if I search for this user) in any of the site collections but does show up when I look up his user profile on Central Admin. I've tried to add this user to the site collection using
    the following command, but I get an error: " The specified user domain\accountname could not be found."
    Get-SPWeb 'http://site' | New-SPUser -UserAlias 'domain\accountname'
    Idk if this is related, but on this user's profile, "Personal Site" field shows up as "SPSSITEERROR".
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I recommend to check if the user exists in Active Directory firstly.
    If yes, then the error will occur. And for the user profile of the user, it may due to the user profiles have not been synced with Active Directory yet.
    That "Personal Site" field shows up as "SPSSITEERROR" means that the MySite of that user has not been created successfully.
    I recommend to run User Profile Synchronization timer job and then check the results.
    Thanks,
