Trackpad and Blue Screen under Bootcamp and XP (SP3)

I have this very annoying problem.
Whereas I run Windows XP in bootcamp and I use the multitouch trackpad the system "randomly" locks and I am presented with a blue screen of death. Other times the audio output is garbled with clicks as I press the pad...
The blue scree happens more frequently when the system is under load and is a VERY NASTY BUG of the trackpad driver that prevents to use the Macbook in mobility without a external mouse.
I am posting this since I didn't find other occourrences in the forum. For the more tech savy I'm running XP Home Sp3 and the Macbook is the first unibody. Also I'd been waiting since Jenuary for a update to this problems but nothins has come up yet - The "apple software update" is pushing just Safari 4 and I think this is hardly going to improve the situation.
Any hint?

Apple needs to update the Trackpad driver as well as their wireless driver. There was a very long thread going on about the Trackpad driver and BSOD.
The soulution was to disable some functionality, sorry, I don't remember what exactly.
Possibly not related: The Apple wireless (Broadcom) driver causes audio drop outs but can be fixed with an update located on Microsoft's site, the Trackpad driver will need to be updated by Apple.

  • Running resman results blue screen under MAX

Our old PC with NT4 came to end of the road, and we had to replace it with new one that came with windows XP. We use the PC for running Labview 5.1 (updated to 5.1f1) and TestStand 1.01. Our hardware is PCI-MXI-2 and VXI-MXI-2. In VXI chassis we one DIO-128 and one MIO-64E-1 card. We have also PCI-GBIP card installed. Because the old drivers that we had for old PC doesn't work with XP, we downloaded the latest drivers for XP and LV5.1 from NI support pages. We have now NI-DAQ 6.9.3 and NI-VXI 3.3.1 and with them there came VISA 3.2 and MAX 3.1.1
Now everything else seems to be in condition, but if we run Resman undex MAX, at the end of the run, Blue Screen enters and says something about "nidaq32k.sys". It goes away very quickly and PC reboots, so we don't have time to read it. If we run Resman without MAX, PC don't crash, but when we start TestStand, and try to run some test, it crashes again with same "nidaq32k.sys" Blue Screen when initialization begins. Also running Resman before starting MAX causes crashing, when we try to open the "Devices and interfaces" from MAX.
So, should those drivers work with our hardware with XP and LV5.1 or what kind of setup should we use?
Updating LV5.1 for LV7 or 8 is not an option, it causes incompatibility problems with our business partners.
    Regards,
    Ville

I don't understand why this thread is moved here, because I think I posted it under VXI and VME discussion. Anyway, we got rid of the crashing by installing everything again, but this time we installed 488.2 version 2.1 instead of 2.4 we installed earlier. Now it don't crash anymore, and MAX version is 2.2. We have still problems with our GBIP devices, they might need new drivers too.

  • S10 RAID configuration = AHCI = Blue Screen under Vista x64

I'm trying to setup a SATA RAID 1 configuration on my new S10 and it's really a nightmare...if I enable the Raid option in the BIOS it enables also the AHCI feature and my Vista x64 (pre-installed on the S10) don't boot, it just show me a blue screen that I don't even have the time to read. If I disable the AHCI option it's ok I can't boot again.
The question is simple, how can I achieve to install an updated AHCI driver for Vista x64 in order to boot and then use the RAID features of my S10 ?
I've tried do download the latest version of the IMSM from Intel (x64 vista version) but it does'nt want to install saying that I haven't the required configuration. My S10 uses an ICH 9 chipset, so I don't understant why I can't install this update.
Please what is the solution to have AHCI and RAID working on an S10 WITHOUT REINSTALLING Vista (I don't have any installation CD and don't wan't to) ???? Note that my system is up to date regarding the ThinkVantage drivers (and windows updates also)
Thanks by advance for your help
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I finally achieve to configure AHCI under Vista x64 on my S10 (but still a problem with RAID..), here's how I did :
    - Open registry, go to the Key \HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\msahci
    - Set the DWORD "Start" at 0 (it was 4 on my system)
    - Restart your computer then Enable immediatly the AHCI feature in the BIOS
    - Vista will start without BSOD using it's default SATA AHCI driver. Let it detect & install your AHCI periphals before going to the next step
    - Install the latest Lenovo IMSM update for S10 from here : http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-69984.html.
    - Restart the computer it should boot without any blue screen, go to the Vista device manager and check that your IDE ATA/ATAPI controller is "Intel(R) ICH9 SATA AHCI Controller".
AHCI is active now, but RAID still doesn't work...here's what I did :
    - I backup my main HDD with R&R (after having installed AHCI)
    - I restart and enable the SATA RAID in the BIOS
    - Restart again, CTRL+I to open IMSM and create my RAID 1 array (2x500GB) under the name "Volume0" (all parameters to default)
    - Ok, raid array created, I now boot from my R&R emergency CD and restore my backup
    - 3 hours later I reboot...and blue screen again just when Vista starts (seems to be the same BSOD than with AHCI)
    - if I disable the RAID option in BIOS the (but let AHCI enabled) Vista boots again and everything seems fine, and it seems that my raid array is still configured for Windows since I see a Volume0 drive in the device manager. But RAID is disabled in the BIOS so what ?
I am lost, I spent 2 full days on these AHCI/RAID problems and nothing seems to work correctly. Each test on RAID configuration needs 3 hours of restoration. I am very dissapointed to see how RAID is complicated to configure on the S10, it's is exactly to avoid this kind of problem that I bought a "workstation" and it's a nightmare.
Hope you can help me, thanks.

  • Hello i have a problem when i start woorksheet, my computer crash with blue screen sometimes.

hello i have a problem when i start woorksheet, my computer crash with blue screen.

I hve this problem sometimes and need to reebot my computer. This worksheet is used to generate 4 signals to output and have an acquisition tooin this 4 channels.
    The error is in the blue screen:0x00000076 (0x00000000 , 0x81358300, 0x000001c2, 0x00000000).
    Thanks for your help.

The DASYLab development team has read your message, and advises that there is insufficient information to be able to even start diagnosing the problem. We suggest that you send a note directly to [email protected], with your full contact information, DASYLab serial number, and the following technical information:
-The Help-->Report information - this will tell us more about the computer, video and installed memory
-Installed hardware - what DAQ devices are you using (exact models!)
-The worksheet that crashes - we need to see how the timing is configured in the worksheet
-What other programs are running at the same time?
-Does the worksheet crash every time?
-Does the NI-DAQ Test Panel work correctly for both inputs and outputs?
Sorry that we cannot be more help in this forum; we do not have much experience with blue screen under Windows 2000. This is very hard to do, and is almost always related to a hardware problem - either a resource conflict, or problems with one of the installed hardware devices (DAQ, Video, Memory...).

  • Bootcamp and Vista ultimate 32 bit blue screen

Hello all. I just purchased my Macbook Pro (late 2008) model last night and I also did a memory upgrade from 2Gb of DDR3 to 4Gb of DDR3. And its was working great..
So i've had a macbook before but never a macbook pro. So i ran the BOOTCAMP Assistant and went through the stages of partitioning and inserting my Windows Vista Ultimate Disc. It goes through the install process and once its finished installing, it restarts and I get to where Vista says "Now configuring your system, please wait....." or something of the sort.. Anyway then it flashes a blue screen (blue screen of death) and then it reboots my Macbook.
I'm lost. I removed the partition and tried again with different versions of Vista: HomePremium, Business, and Basic, still nothing. I also tried different size partitions, still nothing. Any help will sure be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I am sure that it could be done. However, the chances of problems are very high. Microsoft recommends at least 40 GB.

  • Fatal error and blue screen using iTune 6.05.20 under Window XP pro

I just downloaded and upgraded my iTune to 6.05.20 and having serious problems which I can't even play a song for more than 5 sec. If I click PLAY, my computer will hang and display a quick blue screen(too quick I can't get the exact error)then restarts. I can't find the older version I had anywhere, so any help please.
Im using Creative Audigy2 ZS pro. never had a problem with iTune untill this version.

we can also try using the following technique to slow down that flash of a blue screen, to try to get some more information from it:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • Lion OK so far, except Windows 7 under BootCamp blue screens within 10 sec of login.

Lion OK so far, except Windows 7 SP1 under BootCamp blue screens within 10 sec of login.  "Cache_Manager" stop: 0x00000034 is cited, suggesting driver issue, but maybe memory or HD corruption.  Memory (incl. 4 GB RAM) is fine and CheckDisk has been run on partition apparently fixing files hanging from multiple blue screens.  Blue screen not seen under Windows Safe Mode + Network.  Is there a Boot Camp driver issue with Lion?  Any suggestions?

And you attempted to fix any bad sectors, yes?
Did you download and use Boot Camp 4.0 drivers?
The 3.0 was known for some people due to AppleHFS.sys AppleMNT.sys - rename to disable or use 3rd party HFS+ driver would help. HFS filenames with special characters will trigger a 'green bar' in Explorer if you open a folder with such filenames.
As for drivers... you can try rolling back, restore point, uninstalling, even using 3.0 and upgrade to 3.2 until any issue with 4.0 is fixed and resolved (or bug acknowledged).
One person (Boot Camp forum) had trouble with 4.0, and downgraded. Also, the Windows Boot Camp OS Switcher (BC control panel) would not function.
It is always hard to rule out RAM. AHT (not sure how to run on Lion only but you have your OEM DVD), Memtest is more "nothing found" does not mean "no problem." Swapping out RAM is sometimes the only recourse. Windows DVD does have memtest included.
Disk drives: the manuf. own utility (WD Lifeguard etc) is best tool to find problems, map out bad sectors, restore a drive to health.
Have not seen any mention though.

  • My iPhone would just randomly give me a blue screen and then restart--did that a bunch of times between Tuesday and last night. As of last night, it WILL NOT come back on. iTunes says it's in recovery mode....what does all of this mean???

Tuesday night I was texting a friend and when I went to open her message, my screen went blue and restarted. I just wrote it off as weird and went on about my business. Later that night, I tried to turn on my phone and it would not turn on. I plugged it up, held down the power button, and pressed the home button all numerous times. I looked online and it said to do a "hard reset" by holding down the power and home button at the same time--my phone then came on. Throughout Wednesday, it would give me a blue screen and restart--nothing major just really annoying. I took it to the local Verizon store where I bought the phone from and he said that it was some type of hardware defect and I was still under my year warranty so I could get a new one for free--the free phone won't be here until tomorrow, Saturday. I took it home and it didn't give me any trouble for a couple of hours. The next day it was cooperating and then I left town for a little while and it acted up (blue screen and then restarting) a few times. When I got home, it acted up again and so I restarted the phone and it was working fine. A few minutes later, I tried to check my messages and the phone was off again. No matter what I do, my phone will not come back to life. It had at least 45% battery last time I looked at it. I decided to plug the phone up to my computer and see what it did--my computer recognizes that there is a phone hooked to it and it says that it's in "recovery mode". It also said that if I'm having issues with my phone, that I need to reset the phone via iTunes. I guess the questions that arise are
    1. Why is my phone doing this?
    2. If I reset my phone, will it go back to working again? I ask that because I don't want Verizon to charge me $300 when they send me the replacement phone and I won't need it (assuming that the phone decides to work once it's been reset).
    3. What type of hardware defect is this that is causing this issue, not only with my iPhone 5S but others as well?
    4. Shouldn't people be notifying Apple and letting them know that they need to fix this issue?
    5. Should I report this issue to Apple even though I didn't buy the phone directly from them, but through Verizon?
Any help that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated! This whole situation has me stressed out and seriously confused.

Try again with Vista 32bit, 64bit is highly unstable and only a few have it running stable.
I've been running Vista x64 for the past nine months, and now with my K9A2 P--and have had no problems.  I mean, none.  Have not had any occasion to even consider reinstalling Vista x32. Vista x64 has been stable as a rock for me consistently since I installed it.  Would not consider going back to XP under any circumstances.
There is a problem with Beard0's system that I would say boils down to device drivers or faulty hardware or some combination thereof.  His experience is dramatically different from my own, and the problems he's having are not indicative of my experience with Vista, whether x86 or x64.

  • My computer keeps showing a blue screen everytime i get online and says memory dumping error

what should i do when my cpu keeps turning off everytime i turn it on and go online. plus their will be a bunch of pop ups that just open up without my permision

    Hello gsxbilly750:
Welcome to HP's forum and malware / virus world oh what fun. First thing is to get your comperter in safe mode. Seeing it has start up issue already I dought if F-8 key will work. So we will do a fource shut down. Turn on your computer let it go to Windows screen then just disconect the power cord from power supply box. Whait until your computer is completely shut down. Now reconnect the power cord and turn on your computer. Use your arrow keys and select safe mode with net working. If this just started happening yesterday then open up Recovery Manager and Select Microsoft System Restore. Click yes in white box click next eventually  you will get to a date list choose a date before this happened click next. Let it complete system restore. This is will fix your issue some times. Depends on how much damage was done by malware or virus. If to much damage was done then you need to do a complete system restore. With blue screen of deaf you might have to. Follow the same steps above but select System Factory Restore.
If you prefer to try cleaning your computer with out doing systems restore. You first need to download Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/lp/malware_lp/?utm_source=adcenter&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=malwarebytes%... Ounce downloaded the trial verson. Type in services in All program search box and open services. Look for your Anti Virus software in list you need to change it from start to stop. Do not close out service window leave it opened. Now open up Malwarebytes and run the scan. Ounce scan is done click fix or delete effections. Then ounce that has been completed you need to uninstall Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes is unistalled. Go to Services window and find your Anti virus software and change it back to start. Close out services window now. Open your Internet Explorer Browser goto tools select Internet Options . Click on Advance tab. Click reset. Close out Internet Explorer and reopen it goto tools again select Internet Options now check mark box delete on exit . Click on Advance tab go down the list and check mark box under securty section Epmty Temporary Files when browser is closed.   click ok. Then click on tool and select Managed Add ons then enable your tool bars ones that you realy need. This now has fixed your Internet Explorer issue. Ounce you fixed these issues reboot your computer.

  • IPhone 5s died overnight while charging, blue screen and logo loop

I was charging my iPhone overnight and woke up to a dead phone. Tried restoring with iTunes a few times with no luck, it kept giving me the error code 40. Everything on my Mac is up to date and am having no trouble connecting to the iTunes servers even though I'm in Kathmandu, so I assume this is a hardware issue now.
Tried to put it into DFU mode without any success, the only thing that it did was give me the blue screen, Apple logo, yellowish screen loop before going off again. Requested a call w/ Apple (Case ID: 608858029), but unsure if they'll have any luck reaching me through my Google Voice number on my laptop since I'm in Kathmandu and my phone is now obviously not working.
Even though I got the phone in late September last year, according to Apple I'm already out of warranty? Thought they had a one year warranty? In addition I cracked my screen back in March, so does that automatically void my warranty even though this BSOD seems to be an unrelated issue? The phone was working fine with the cracked screen for over a month. If my warranty is void and I'm not going to be getting any help, I might open up my phone and disconnect my battery as mentioned in this thread.
All suggestions appreciated. Since I'm going to be in Nepal / Tibet for another month, I might pick up a cheap Android phone if all else fails.

Due to the crappy internet connection, had trouble answering the calls in time every time Apple tried calling so I ended up calling them and had a very pleasant discussion with the CSR for about 30 min.
Phone would've been replaced under warranty except since I cracked the screen, I have to pay the out of warranty cost which is about $269 + tax. Reasonable even though it's much more than the $50 I was going to pay for a replacement screen. But the whole BSOD put a dent in those plans.
They also directed me to Apple Care in China, the closest country with authorized Apple centers to Nepal. Gave me the number (864006272273) which was helpful. But since I'll be on the move for the next four weeks I have no idea how they were going to get the replacement phone to me... unless they send a porter with it and track me down somewhere on the trail in Amphu Labsta.
Guess I'll just hold onto the phone until I get back to NYC.

  • Blue Screen Errors on HP's And Some Dells

Microsoft recently released an official update that seems to cause some HP's to "bluescreen" on startup. The Dell update seems to be for the webcam
There's a VERY simple fix for this.
    HP's
Restart your computer(press and hold the power button for 5-10 seconds if you need to turn if off from the bluescreen)
While it is turning on tap the F8 key once a second until a text menu comes up
Arrow key down to Safe Mode with networking and press Enter
Windows will load, a bunch of files will scroll past, this is normal
After Windows loads, click Start > Accessories > System Restore
When the window pops up(it will take a few minutes sometimes); select "Different date" and choose the latest one that says Windows Update by it and click "next", and then confirm by clicking yes.
Your computer will then restart and undo the Windows update that caused the bluescreen.
If you're on an HP, that's all you have to do, Dells require a bit more work.
    Dells
(Note, you will need internet access on the computer affected, or your restore disc labeled Drivers/Applications or this will not work)
Restart your computer(press and hold the power button for 5-10 seconds if you need to turn if off from the bluescreen)
While it is turning on tap the F8 key once a second until a text menu comes up
Arrow key down to Safe Mode  with networking and press Enter
Windows will load, a bunch of files will scroll past, this is normal
Go to your Control Panel and select "System" and then click on the Hardware tab.
    Select Device Manager
In the list that comes up, click on Image, or Imaging Devices
Under that you should see something similar to "Integrated Webcam", right click and select "Uninstall"
Check the box that says Uninstall the software for this device and click OK
After it has finished, restart your computer normally.
Insert the Driver/Apps disc and go into the Dell Resource CD and find your webcam driver/install it
    -or-
Go to http://dell.com and enter your Dell Service Tag(usually on the bottom/back of your computer) and make your way to the Drivers page for your model and download/install the webcam software
This will take about 5-30 minutes depending on your computer.
Note : This plays tricks on your anti virus programs and they may say your "definitions" are corrupt/out of date. This is also a simple fix, all you have do is run your AV programs update option and everything should be fixed.
Double note : This may or may not fix your problem if you have other issues. If you have any trouble, post here and I'll do my best to help. If you purchased your HP from Best Buy, and are within your warranty/service plan, most stores(as far as I know) are offering to fix this for free as it was not caused by the user.
    Anything else, please ask

I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year 5 years ago. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

  • G4 has blue screen and I still can't get it to login...HELP!

I went to the store and when I returned I had a blue screen with my mouse pointer that could move. I read tons of post on here and tried everything such as resetting PRAM, bought a new battery because like threads said, I too would push the power button and it would flicker and not turn on. I would have to unplug the power cord just to be able to get another try. If I didn't, nothing happened. So then I borrowed my Aunt's Leopard CD she had from her iMac and tried booting off it (holding down the C button) and nothing. I get a message stating that I can't boot off of that disc? After letting it sit for a few hours I was finally able to get past the blue screen and access Disk Utility. I tried repairing the disc (i have 3 plus the backup drive) and I get past that. I then select Verify Disk Permissions and get a "FIRST AID FAILED" Message saying Disk Utility stopped repairing permissions on "HD" because the following error was encountered. The underlying task reported failure on exit. So then I run across a thread saying that it could possibly be a admin user or password problem. I remember just before the blue screen that I was indeed researching on how to lock a folder on my desktop as well as my back up drive. So I followed the instructions and powered it on while holding the apple key + S key and typed in mount -uw /
    rm /car/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -h now
Now when I turn it on it starts up just like its brand new. However, I can't get past the part where it ask if I want to transfer information from another computer or Hard Drive or do it later with Migration Assistant. I have tried starting it and holding down the C key and nothing happens - I get the gray Apple screen frozen. I have held down the Option Key and restarted and selected both the HD and Start Up Disk which both have a little blue X in the corner if that helps and same results. Before trying to start up using the disc i forgot to mention I tried restarting it pulling each of the RAM drives out and putting them in different locations and that did nothing. And FINALLY! The last restart prior to posting this I have a bunch of lines across the Purple Galaxy Screen that says:
System Failure: cup=0; code=00000001 (Corrupt Stack).
Latest crash info for cpu 0:
    Exception state (sv0x29d85280)
Backtrace terminated - frame not mapped or invalid:
    Any ideas from here?

Whoah boy, lots of things here and I have to make supper...
I'll choose a few at a time. "RAM drives"
RAM drives? Do you mean hard drives? Do you mean RAM chips?
If hard drives, did you put them back in the same order? Multiple hard drives in one machine often need to be jumpered correctly when you move them about.
If chips... It's too difficult at this stage to tell if it is hardware or software. If hardware it could be chips, and that error at the end had a vague chip ring to it. One way to test for chips if you have extra chips is to pull all but the minimum required to boot and see if it boots.
You mention a backup drive. This wouldn't happen to have a clone of the operating system on it would it?
    4 drives... All internal?
From all you've said it could be hardware or software. Blue screen could be software but failing hardware can corrupt a drive, messing up the software.
Boot discs. It sounds like you have no boot discs (CD. DVD) for this computer, right?
What computer are you using right now?

  • I've deleted Wheel in Macintosh HD permissions and now I receive a blue screen at Start up

    Details:
    Mac Book Pro
    Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.8
    Problem:
I was looking at Macintosh HD (ctrl-i) and saw "wheel" under permissions.
I foolishly deleted "Wheel" (command delete) from permissions.
I got the processing icon aka beach ball.
I may have clicked something in frustration because Color (Adobe?) popped up. This may be nothing.
I tried to force quit (command-option-esc), no luck.
I held power button down, computer shuts off, I wait, I turn on.
The apple and gray screen with loading symbol (gear) then blue screen with loading symbol followed by light blue screen.
    Blue then lightblue repeats.
    What I've tried:
I try loading in safe mode. (shift)
    Blue Screen.
    Restarting (command+p+r and other).
    Blue Screen.
Using 10.5.4 install disk > Disk Utility > Hard Drive permissions Check, Verify, Repair.
    Blue Screen.
Also Change password > reset ACLs etc. first Macintosh HD, then Root.
    Blue Screen.
I tried using a small external HD and booted from 10.5.4, tried updating to 10.6 but no.
I don't have Snow Lepord. No backups (2T external died).
Anyway to just replace the OS and keep my data without 10.6.X disk and not have to backup and install down to 10.5?
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
