(not that size counts!) has anyone here tried this mouse and would mind leaving a quick review. THANKS!!!

i received it already and i am never going back to the unmighty mouse. i stupidly took awhile before i realized i had to go to logitech and download the ability to customize it. sometimes i am not too swift but now it works fine. i am already noticing less strain on my wrist. bigger IS better!

  • Logitech Marble Mouse - Control Center

    Hi,
I recently updated my OS to 10.4.7, and while I've had some recent activity with different mice, I went back to the Logitech Marble Mouse and Control Center, and found the Control Center stopped recognizing the unit. I've tried to remove it via the un-installer and no dice. I also installed SteerMouse, but that will end up costing me $20... I also tried USB Overdrive, and it doesn't seem to work.
Can Anyone recommend any steps to get Control Center back working? The Logitech form seems hard to find any relevant info.
    Thanks!

  • Logitech Marble Mouse and Xorg 1.8

With the update to xorg 1.8, fdi files in /etc/hal/fdi/policy are no longer being used.
I created a workaround for my Marble Mouse by creating a file named /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-marblemouse.conf
Then I added the following cote to it:
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "Marble Mouse"
    MatchProduct "Logitech USB Trackball"
    MatchIsPointer "on"
    MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
    Driver "evdev"
    Option "ButtonMapping" "1 9 3 4 5 6 7 8 2"
    Option "EmulateWheel" "true"
    Option "EmulateWheelButton" "8"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    Option "XAxisMapping" "6 7"
    Option "Emulate3Buttons" "false"
    EndSection
I know the xorg.conf.d directory should be left for .conf snippets from the distro maintainers.  I hope the above helps someone get their Marble Mouse working.
Now that I have it working as a snippet I'm going to try making the change to xorg.conf and see if that works.

Perhaps a bit off-topic though on the topic of trackballs... My Kensington Expert Mouse worked nicely in Xorg 1.8 without configuration. The only problem was that I prefer the two upper buttons reversed. Here is the xorg.conf section for configuring it:
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "Kensington Expert Mouse"
    Driver "evdev"
    MatchIsPointer "on"
    MatchProduct "Kensington Expert Mouse"
    MatchVendor "Kensington"
    MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
    Option "CorePointer"
    # Upper buttons: left=browser back, right=middle click
    Option "ButtonMapping" "1 8 3 4 5 6 7 2"
    EndSection

  • HOWTO: Get a logitech marble mouse to work w/scroll and more

This bit of information was taken from a post at the ubuntu forums. It worked for me, enjoy!
Modify your Xorg.conf/XF86Config file to have this in the mouse section:
    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "MarbleMouse"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "auto"
    Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
    Option "Buttons" "5"
    Option "ButtonMapping" "1 8 3 6 7"
    Option "EmulateWheel" "true"
    Option "EmulateWheelTimeout" "300" # msec
    Option "EmulateWheelButton" "6"
    Option "YAxisMapping" "4 5"
    EndSection
here is the exact post on the ubuntu forums.
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p= … stcount=21

Hotplugging now automatically sets up the small buttons as forward/back.  Put an fdi in /etc/hal/fdi/policy as the wiki states, but after restarting hal and xorg only the left and right mouse buttons work.  Tried replacing "Logitech USB Trackball" with "ImExPS/2 Logitech Explorer Mouse" for the hell of it, no change.  Any ideas?

There actually is a wiki entry that points to Delightfully's posts on his blog.  Honestly, I've never edited a wiki and I wasn't sure if I'd be stepping on someone else's wiki-toes (so to speak).  If there is interest in that, though, I'll learn to edit a wiki and add it.

  • Logitech Marble Mouse owners?

    Hello
1st thing are there any Logi Marble mouse owners? If so I could do with some help.
Hey there's some great custom functions on this and it's a MM beater no doubt but one thing I could do with the MM is when on a web page I could just scroll down with the centre button to the top/bottom and back up you get the idea ,anyway how do i do it with the Logi MM as the only way I can find is by grabbing the blue bar on the left and then scroll up/down .,anyway any other methods or is that it?\

  • Magic Trackpad and Logitech keyboard hangs with Mavericks

Since updating to Mavericks, both my Logitech keyboard (DiNovo) and Magic Trackpad hang when chaning from one window to the next. I've reinstalled the latest drivers from Logitech, but that did not have any affect on the problem. Am I alone?

I had the same problem.  I had the DiNovo and the Magic Mouse connected to my iMac.  After the upgrade to Maverics, both devices would hang frequently (both when I selected to a new window and otherwise).
I got fed up and installed a USB keyboard, decommissioning the DiNovo.  I would have put away the Magic Mouse too, but I couldn't find my USB mouse.
Funny thing is, after I removed the DiNovo, the Magic Mouse seems to be working fine.

  • Logitech Marble Mouse scrollwheel emulation

Before I open a Wiki account*, can anyone else confirm that it only works over USB?
I can't remember how long I've had this thing, and I even have a vague feeling I came up against this problem before I installed Arch, but I always assumed I must have a defective trackball. Or an early model that doesn't support it. Or something. Such as I was doing it wrong, which was by far the most likely, and in fact turned out to be the case.
Probably. Because it's just possible that I do have a defective PS/2 adaptor, so I'd like some corroboration.
*I know; eight years and I never got around to it.

  • Btnx and Logitech MX620 mouse not working

As the subject, I can't get it to work.
    * Running  sudo btnx-config runes fine and finds all my buttons etc, the only thing I can se in the terminal is this at startup:
Warning: invalid button index reported by buttons_check_index.
Warning: tree_buttons_empty_store could not get an iter.
Warning: invalid button index reported by buttons_check_index.

    Then I start btnx:

    No startup errors
And the terminal stands there without any further messages. Top doesn't display any btnx running, so I'm not certain if it starts at all
Anyway, no buttons I configured works, so any suggestions?

Could have something to do with what your xorg file. I am just guessing thogh. If you don't get a good response here the ubuntu forums have a huge btnx thread.

  • Decouple trackpad and mouse scrolling?

I am using a Magic Trackpad and Logitech LX7 on a MacPro 1,1 running Lion.
I have tried (using System Preferences for mouse and trackpad) to revert the scroll wheel action to scroll in the "old" direction but when I try that the trackpad scrolling direction also changes.
Is there a way to decouple the scrolling direction of the trackpad and mouse wheel?

I am with you both too. I like natural scrolling on my trackpad, but not on a scroll ball for a mouse. The only solution I can find is what someone else brought up in a different thread: there is an app called "Scroll Reverser" that lets you choose which input devices (mouse, trackpad, or tablet) are reversed. Be warned, it is quite confusing to get set up. At least it was for me. But It is working fine now and is just what I wanted.

p.s. if this solves your problem, don't forget to mark your problem as "Solved" so others can find the answer too.

  • MBP Mouse: Razer Orochi vs Logitech Performance Mouse MX

    Hello
It has been a week since I started to research a new gaming mouse for my MBP. After going through more reviews than I can remember, I boiled it up to the following 2: Razer Orochi and Logitech Performance Mouse MX.
Orochi keeps my precious USB ports free (Bluetooth) has a coolest design and better DPI, although the "sleep in 2sec + jerking" issue seems to be really annoying when gaming. The Performance Mouse MX has zero lag/jerking issues, great ergonomics and works on glass! The downside is the USB port sacrifice required by the 2.4GHZ receptor.
Before throwing the coin on this, I would like to know if anyone has MBP hands-on experience with these fellows. If so, your input would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I've swayed towards Razer Orochi. After 2 weeks of daily use (MacBook Pro with LEOPARD and "Boot Camp" WINXP), I have yet to find a flaw on this mouse. It delivered on all it's promises. Here's a breakdown of my thoughts on it:
    01 - AESTHETICS AND MISC
The sleek online pictures at Razer site don't make justice to this mouse. It looks much better in real-life! Couple it with the Razer Kabuto Mouse Mat and your desk will never look the same. The battery top lid is magnetically attached and the USB "Wired Mode" cable is long enough to comfortably circle around my MBP. In terms of ergonomics, Orochi feels great on my big hands. I've found it very comfortable to use with both "fingertip" and "palm" grips.
    02 - FIRMWARE AND DRIVERS
Let me preface this by saying that "out of the box", with ZERO drivers installed, all 7 buttons worked flawlessly with WINXP. Under LEOPARD, only the "forward and backward" left side buttons didn't work. It's worth underlining that the "Sensitivity Stage" right side buttons worked on both OSs. This means that you can cycle through the 5 preset "Sensitivity Stages" without having to install a single driver! That said, in order to tap into Orochi's full potential, it's imperative to install the latest firmware and drivers. Start by getting the latest v1.06 firmware updater (22/02/2010) from Razer's site (notice you'll need to run this under Windows). Next download and install the latest PC (v1.02, 22/10/2009) and MAC (v2.00, 03/05/2010) drivers. Besides custom macro creation, these drivers also enable full customization of every single button on the Orochi. Starting at v2.00, the MAC driver acquired the same "full features support" one finds in it's PC counterpart. Nonetheless, for reasons I'll explain below, you should avoid using the "Razer Orochi" MAC "Preference Pane".
03 - CONFIGURATION AND DISABLING ACCELERATION
Orochi's factory "buttons layout scheme" fitted my needs like a glove. I found no need to tinker with it, although the "Scroll Wheel button" could probably be put to better use. It's "Universal Scrolling" default assignment is uselessly redundant. It's not hard to envision several more productive assignments for it (copy/past, open/close tab, etc). The only 2 settings I ended up by changing were "Polling Rate: 1000 Hz (default 500 Hz)" and "Lightning->Scroll Wheel: ON (default OFF)". I opted not to delve into the "Profiles" and "Macros" sections, even though I'll probably revisit them in a near future. The possibility of creating "per application profile" and "custom macros" are 2 of the most powerful features of this mouse. A shrewd implementation of both will rise your productivity to unprecedented heights.
In order to take full advantage of Orochi's high-precision "4000DPI 3G Laser Sensor" one must disable mouse acceleration. This allows Orochi to handle all the gliding and pointing bits natively. Assuming the "Enable Acceleration" option on "Razer Orochi Configurator" is left unchecked, there's still the OS mouse acceleration layer to deal with. On the WINXP side, one simply needs to uncheck "Enhance pointer precision" to permanently disable mouse acceleration. Unfortunately things aren't as merry on LEOPARD's side. After hours of research, the solution was finally found in this "Armagetron Forums" thread. In order to roughly homogenize the tracking speed on both OSs, I also set the respective "speed knobs" to 50%. Here are the details for this:
    WINXP
    - Disable Acceleration: Control Panel->Mouse Properties->Pointer Options->Motion-> Enhance pointer precision: OFF
    - Tracking speed at 50%: Control Panel->Mouse Properties->Pointer Options->Motion->Select a pointer speed: 6th notch from "Slow" (11 total).
    LEOPARD
    - Disable Acceleration: Check out this "Armagetron Forums" thread.
    - Tracking speed at 50%: System Preferences->Keyboard & Mouse->Mouse->Tracking Speed: 5th notch from "Slow" (10 total).
Due to the different "knob sensitivities" of WINXP and LEOPARD, you won't get the same pixel-exact tracking speed on both OSs. Despite that, the "knob at 50%" strategy will get you pretty close. In my personal experience I've found the mouse response to be indistinguishable across WINXP and LEOPARD.
    04 - IN-GAME EXPERIENCE
Once all configurations were in place, I immediately jumped to a series of thorough in-game testing with "Quake 3" and "Unreal Tournament 2004". Diligently compared "Wired" and "Wireless mode". The former had a noticeable precision advantage. Nonetheless, "Sensitivities Stages" were the clear show-stopper! Switching to the lowest "500 DPI stage" markedly increased my aim in sniper mode. Never before did I got so many "headshots" in a row! Orochi is a literal "killer mouse"! Conversely, the higher sensitivities allowed for lightning fast responses in the heat of "close proximity" battle. This mouse really gives you that extra edge every gamer is looking for.
The "off the chart" smoothness, responsiveness and accuracy observed in-game was also noticeable during day-to-day usage. It suddenly became clear why some many designers/photographers go with Orochi.
Many reviews complained about the "sleep in 2sec + jerking" issue. You'll only find it if you actively look for it. It's simply to small of a jerk to be noticed. It will disappear the moment you stop thinking about it. This holds true for gaming and day-to-day usage.
05 - STAY AWAY FROM "RAZER OROCHI" PREFERENCE PANE
I've unearthed an uncanny behavior when accessing LEOPARD's "Razer Orochi" preference pane. The mere act of opening it caused the tracking speed to decrease dramatically! In fact, even escalating all the way up to 4000 DPI, the mouse still moved like it was at 1500 DPI! Thankfully, as long as you have access to a WINXP machine, there's a pretty straightforward way to tackle this: simply make sure to always use WINXP driver to configure Orochi. Since the "Synapse On-Board memory" allows one to port settings across OSs, there's really no reason to access LEOPARD's driver at all!
    06 - LOOSE NOTES
-> Configuration of the Razer Orochi can only be performed in "Wired Mode".
-> Both WINXP and LEOPARD drivers are capable of writing to Orochi's "Synapse On-Board memory".
-> The "Sensitivity Stages" work flawlessly on both WINXP and LEOPARD. It's worth to underline the OSD only appears in "Wired Mode".
-> In "Wireless Mode (bluetooth)": Pooling rate drops to 125ms (125Hz), although you can still cycle through the different "Sensitivity Stages", the OSD will no longer appear.
-> Clean the laser lens below the Razer Orochi once a month (use soft cloth or cotton swab).
    CONLUSION
Razer Orochi is simply the best bluetooth "high-precision mouse" out there. If you're are a serious gamer/designer it's a must. Totally worth the price. 5 stars all the way!

  • Macbook pro Late 2011 13.3 inch i7 keyboard and trackpad not working bluetooth showing a cross sign and no usb mouse is detected. Almost dead keyboard and mouse. Earlier same problem used to be solved by opening the lower cover and closing it.

My macbook pro 13.3 inch i7 late 2011 edition has previously encountered unresponsive trackpad and keyboard. To solve that, I used to open the back cover and then close it. It has been working fine since that. Yesterday, same thing happened, this time I noticed that bluetooth icon is showing a cross sign across it and keyboard and trackpad were unesponsive. After some time , everything worked fine and bluetooth sign was back to normal. Then , suddenly it went back to the problem. I shut it down by holding the power button. When I booted it again, I could not login because keyboard and trackpad were not working. I attached a HP mouse it didnt work. I opened the back cover disconnected the battery and then connected it again, didnt worked. Since then , I have tried many things and nothing has solved the problem.

    @sanjampet
As you suggested I reset the smc, in the first boot nothing worked. In the second boot, it all worked like a charm. I thought that my problem is resolved now. To test it, I shut it down properly. Next morning, I powered it on, all things i.e, keyboard, trackpad, bluetooth etc. worked and I thought that problem has been solved. When I was just going to visit apple forum to reply you,  the same problem reappeared. A sawtooth cross over bluetooth icon, keyboard not working, trackpad not working,no usb mouse working which worked well when it was fine. I reset smc so many times again and again but same problem continued. Isn't it a problem of the firmware?
Next time when it will work, I will update its firmware.
My macbook was bought in dec2011 so no warranty now.

  • Can't swipe back on websites any more..the page just freezes and i have to close it...this happens with both the trackpad and magic mouse. Also can't scroll down in iCal...any advice please?

While browsing online tonight my Wi-Fi failed and then after restarting I noticed that I can no longer swipe "back" on websites...when I swipe back to go to a previous page the browser just freezes – can’t click anything or navigate to another site – I have to close the browser and reopen it.
This happens in both Safari and Google Chrome with both Trackpad and Magic Mouse.
Also noticed that I can no longer scroll down in iCal… All the other gestures seem to be responding normally.
Anyone have advice as to how I can fix this?

Restart your computer and try again.
