Trackpad and text issue

The text for some reason choses not to open when I receive messages.
and the track pad seems to have a mind of its own going up and down when I dont even touch it.

Trackpad and Mouse Issue

Periodically my trackpad will not work. It starts off as being a bit sluggish (i.e. not responsive to swipes) and it gets progressively worse until it ceases to function. I then plug in a mouse which seems to work for a bit. However, the same problem that occurred w. the trackpad starts to happen w. the mouse. In addition sometimes my cursor seems to have a mind of its own and starts to make its way across the screen in small little back & forth motions until it reaches the right hand side and then makes its way back across (repeat).
I have contacted Apple Support a few times w. this issue and their standard response is to restart and reset the OS and RAM. The problem continues to persist and I am at the point where what I am left with a machine that is pretty much unusable.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried reinstalling the OS? That would be my first port of call... unless you're sure it's a hardware issue.

Trackpad and USB issues

I am experiencing two issues with USB on my MBP.
1. Just since yesterday, my trackpad seems to not always be responding right. Sometimes my cursor will not move in complete response to my single finger motion. It sticks, moves in one direction or even causes a scroll. It is as though the trackpad thinks another finger is resting on it. The Apple site just recommends wiping the trackpad with a clean cloth, but that doesn't help. Has anybody else experienced this? Any suggestions? Note this happens even if no USB devices are connected and doesn't happen all the time.
2. In a completely unrelated issue, it seems that oftentimes when I plugin my Logitech USB headset that the MBP seems to freeze (not even cursor motion) for sometimes several minutes. Then it starts up again where it left off. Any ideas about this one?

Well, Apple did fix my trackpad. They think it had to do with capacitors underneath. And they replaced my keyboard at the same time, since the S and L keys were worn and they said that was under guarantee as well.
It was not an altogether pleasant experience though. Even though I was promised same day drop-it-off-pick-it-up service a really nasty "genius bar" person said it was impossible to do the same day and that the other person shouldn't have promised that and it was getting really ugly. I had to go into native-New-Yorker mode (which I hate doing) and said I wasn't leaving until they kept their promise.
Eventually they called a manager who made sure they would keep to their word and they ended up doing a very good job, even replacing my "marware" protective pad.
So all's well that ends well, and I got good service in the end. But I always strongly dislike having to "fight for service". It should just be something that is a matter of course with Apple.
I hope they get rid of that one particular genius bar person though. He is bad news.

Q10 speed-dial and texting issues

Hi there,
I am setting up a q10 for my wife, and i also have one.
I cannot do speed dial on my q10. I have two brand new identical devices and one can do speed dials, and one cant.. I can set up the speed dials, but it doesnt activate when i do a longpress.
Also when i longpress a number in my call log it doesnt give me the option of sending a text, whereas my other devices does.
Also when i play a song it deosnt give me the choice to add that song as a ringtone whereas it gives me that choice and other choices on my other device.
My questions are:
Is there a way i can restore some defaults to have these features, or change options so i can have these same features that i have on my idetical device.
or is the second devices faulty> Seems odd that it would be as its brand new.

Color profile problems and text issues

hello all!
recently, after installing the java update i ran across some permissions problems when doing a permissions repair.
these java permissions seem to be the result of database updates and are fairly innocuous.
however, since then, my color profiles are screwed up. things look horrible. some pictures are fine, some bad. at first i thought it was just safari, but it's system wide. i've tried repairing permissions again but to no effect. i've downloaded the profiles from adobe and copied them into the profiles directory in library. no effect.
some profiles show up twice on the list. when i select, for instance, the second listing, the selection moves to the first listing. do you follow?
when i run the profile first aid this is what i get:

okay, a boot up into safe mode and everything looks great, the way it should. everything looks awesome in another user account too.
so, it user specific. i've discovered these issues affect safari and not firefox. images in ff look fine.
if there are font or profile issues, how do i go about finding what might be broken in my main user account?
can i just transfer everything to a new user account? what are the steps involved?

Picasa and Text issue

I'm really missing the ability to connect to Picasa (and Dropbox). I have almost all my pictures on Picasa, so it would make a big difference!
and then I have a small nuisance on the text part. I can change the size and position subsequently, but unfortunately it seems that I can not change the text. very annoying to have to change to a small patch.
it would also be really great with the possibility of being able to bend the text.
Hoping you will correct this.

You can work with Dropbox; you just have to use Dropbox's app to download the projects to your tablet before working on them in PS Touch. A bit cumbersome, but doable.

Trackpad and Wakeup Issues

I have been having a couple of problems...I figured this was the correct forum due to the fact that befre Tiger came out I didn't have these problems.
1. My trackpad is always "freezing up." What will happen is the pointer will be almost impossible to move across the display and sometimes a single finger will scroll. These problems happen at the same time and can be fixed after a trackpad reset. Sometimes it happens a half a dozen times a day and sometimes is flawless.
2. This one only happens every now and then but when waking up from sleep my login screen will appear for a second, then go to the blue screen that usually displays at initial startup and back to the login screen, I will proceed to login and will flash my desktop for a second and bring me back to login. After this second login it always works fine.
Anyone having these same problems?

I was just on here searching for a discussion about your trackpad problem. I've got the exact same thing going on (#1) since upgrading to Tiger. I just called Apple care and they had me reset the Pram (if you don't know what that is search and you'll find it explained on the forums..I'd explain it but I really don't know what I'm talking about) and gave me a case number to refer to if I have problems again. So far so good but its only been a few minutes.
As far as #2 goes...ya, that has happened to me too. It's not a new thing with Tiger, though, and it doesn't happen often.

I am trying to output a 720p24 file using compressor. The file has lots of text overlays, and compressor seems to have a problem with this.
The text comes out squished vertically, to the extent that if two text elements are close enough on the screen verically, it renders as overlapping text.
This is using any of the default H264 web streaming codecs, entering in a 16x9 size manually, and checking the 16x9 box.
The problem even happens if I export it using a 720p24 codec via compressor! If I do not select the 16x9 box in the geometry section it gives me a 960x720 image, but the text is rendered properly. If I select 16x9, the image looks great (circles are circles and not ovals) but again the text is squishy.
Note: if I output the SAME timeline as a quicktime conversion 720p24(16x9) option everything works fine. Whats up with compressor?

BB Tour and texting issues

I have a BB tour, why is it now when I try to send a text, I get a RED X so I hit re-send and it goes thru??? I know the small d with the check mark means delivered, then I also get an envelope as well on some text's I send, but this RED X is driving me nuts!!! (no errors show up either, just the red x)

Slideshow and Text Issue

This is a strange one.. When creating custom text in Aperture 3, it won't let me type a lower case s, it will let me type an upper case S. 2nd, in order to do a space or return, I must use the shift key.
Any suggestions?

IPhone 4s and texting

How do I text people using the 4s? iMessage only works between apple devices and not all of my friends have apple products.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings may resolve your call and texting issue... start there.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these steps in order until the issue is resolved.
Also, try simply reseating the SIM card as that may resolve your connectivity issues.
The charging issue could simply be a dirty dock connector.. try cleaning with a soft, dry brush. It could also be a cable issue... try a different cable.

MBP a1226 has been acting odd on startup. (and other issues)

Today, every time I've powered the machine on, the fans run at max speed and iStat reports my avg temp at nearly 82C, which is sorta hot and unusual for my almost three year old MBP.
This is the latest in a series of problems I've been experiencing lately that may or not be relevant. First, I'm having that trackpad and keyboard issue detailed in that big topic. As of now, pressing down on that ribbon fixes it. Second, I started up my computer one time to find that OS X was reporting a battery issue. The message was something like "Service battery." I just purchased the battery brand new, from an Apple Store, last September or so. After a reboot, the message went away and hasn't come back since.
So as far as questions, is the initial issue something to worry about? Also, should I consider talking to Apple about my battery?

You might want to open Activity Monitor and see if there is some hung up process running in the background which is hogging the CPU and causing the heat and fan noise. Be sure to select "All Processes" at the top.
It wouldn't hurt to have Apple evaluate your battery--I believe that here is a stress test they can run for you to be sure the battery is functioning properly.

Is there an outage in the Cleveland, Ohio area (zip codes 44129, 44134, 44137) or anything else I can do to resolve this issue?

Not that I'm a Verizon employee, but I have experience in the field. An LTE tower will only extend up to, on a perfect day, with no elevation, 6-7 miles. On a typical day, you will be lucky at four (4) miles. The three ZIP codes you've given are all within about a 12 mile radius. That would mean that 2-3 towers are currently down at the same time, and Verizon would know about it within the hour. Being it's Cleveland, I'm sure they would receive numerous calls regarding an outage of that size.
My point is that if you're having issues in all three ZIP codes, chances are it's a phone issue. If you're handset is simply not receiving LTE, but still receiving 3G, that would signify a SIM card issue. You need to get your SIM card replaced.

File upload component and text area issue

Hi guys,
I have static text, text area and button on the same page. Text area binded to session bean value and all works fine (I can input text into text area and press button to save changes).
After adding file upload component to the same page I have got a problem - now after page refreshing the non english characters inside text gets trashed.
Other non english characters - inside static text components remains the same - the problem relates only to text area.
It looks like file upload component code has an encoding related bug. Is that a known issue?
And may be somebody have a workaround?

I did some checking and this issue is currently logged as: 6442528. It is scheduled to be available in the next patch release. I'm sorry I don't have a time frame for the patch since it is still waiting for other fixes.
