Trackpad click disabled

THe right and left clicks on my bluetooth mouse stopped working, tho cursor movement ok. I messed around in preferences, using the trackpad, and clicked on some box having to do with disabling trackpad when bluetooth mouse is present, and now i have no way of selecting anything! I am running yosemite. Thank you, Bill

If it is old you may have to take it in and they may be able to repair it but otherwise you may have to purchase a new trackpad. I would suggest calling up and asking if it would be worth coming in for them to have a look at because it may just be faulty and sometimes it just gets stucks. Hope this helps.

simple--trackpad/clicker has gone wild. clicks when it shouldnt and does when it shouldnt. works fine with safari 5.0.6 i have deleted, highlighted, dragged, downloaded, and just plain screwed up to hell and back 50 times a day for untold weeks plus reset every preference over and over till im ready to never get near ff again. if someone at ff had just been a little clearer about the extent of the trackpad issues...

Define "access the cloud". I can access my iCloud.com account on my 5 year old iMac at work running OS X 10.4.11 Tiger. I can download and upload Word documents and Pages documents in the iWorks section of my iCloud.com account.
What do you want to access in "the cloud"?
Snow Leopard would be your next system upgrade and you should be OK with the CS3 applications, and Office 2008. I cannot confirm that the other applications will work.
This is quite old, but take a look or Google the other applications to see if they are compatible with SL.

  • MBP 2008 Click disabled on trackpad, left click not working on mightymouse & wacom pen tablet.

    Hello,
    i have a problem with a Macbook pro 2008.
The trackpad click button is not working anymore
(i've already tried to remove the battery underneath and push the wire that's connected to the pad,
    nothing changed).
I've managed to sync a mightymouse, left click is disabled as well
    (but not right click).
Then i've tried with a wacom tablet. Right click works, but not left.
(also tested switching buttons, yet no left click).
    In conclusion :
left click is not functionning with any of the peripherals,
left & right click  are disabled on the trackpad.
I've also tried "tap to click" without success.
Does someone have any idea of what is happening?
And how could a have the left click back?
    Regards
    F

Since you have a 2014 MBP, by definition it is in the 1 year warranty period.  Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have the technicians sort the unit out for you.
    Ciao.

  • Problem with trackpad - clicking by touch

Since upgraded to ML, trackpad clicks by touch every time I rest my fingers on it for more than 2 or 3 seconds. With Lion, I need to PRESS and physical click the trackpad. This is very very irritating since I need to move the fingers away from the trackpad all the time.
Is this a normal behavior? Can I disable it?

That's the point. Tap to click is disable. The difference is if I tap nothing happens, but If I leave the fingers touching the trackpad for more than 3 seconds aprox the click action is executed.

  • Trackpad "buttons" disabled while holding down key on keyboard

    Hello,
ben having the following issue with the trackpad on this laptop:
when playing games and holding down the W-key for example, the click functionality on the trackpad seems to be disabled. Neither tapping the trackpad nor clicking the lower left side works, untill i release the said keyboard key.
the most usual issue, the entire trackpad beign disabled while typing is already "fixed" by turning the palm check off entirely. But dont seem to find option that enables the mouse button presses.

  • Trackpad Click / Mouse Click

After installing Leopard...if i try to use the trackpad click it will not work and it stops mouse click from working. Powerbood G4. The mouse click works until I try to use the trackpad click.

I'm having a similar issue with my MacBook 2GHz. I installed Leopard a couple of weeks ago, been working fine and just this morning, when using Mail, I clicked on a mailbox and it seemed to lock on it as if I was trying to move the mailbox but I couldn't drop it anywhere. I couldn't click on anything else, had to use the keyboard to save work in a few applications before restarting. Since restarting, my wireless mighty mouse works fine but if I ever tap or click the trackpad, mouse clicks become disabled on the trackpad and on the bluetooth mouse as well, forcing me to restart again. All is well as long as I don't tap or click the trackpad. Any ideas?

  • MacBook Pro and lapses in trackpad/click response

Ever since I got my reconditioned MBP 15" direct from Apple, I've had the following trackpad/click problem: for seconds at a time (sometimes up to 10-15 seconds), the trackpad will not respond to taps or clicks; this occurs in all programs and sometime seems to be remedied by clicking in a different part of the screen and then going back to the desired spot to click (not sure, though, whether simply time passing is what makes function return).
At the suggestion of tech support, I took this issue to a Genius. We booted via a different OS and the problem seemed to disappear, so we determined that it likely was not a hardware issue. He recommended an Archive and Install, which I performed but to no avail...still having the problem!
Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions?

just a thought, your genius probably already looked into it, but is the ignore accidental input checked. and also sometimes if I get a piece of dirt or something on my track pad it wont respond correctly
don't know if that helps but something is better than nothing, good luck

  • Is there a right click disabler ENABLER for Mac?

This is not a question on how to enable right clicking on the Mac.
Here's the question: is there a download or a way with the Mac to re-enable right clicking when there's a php script disabling right clicking on certain websites?

you could use the activity window in safari. (menu bar, window menu, activity) With this up, even if they disable right click, or they embed elements into the back ground the URL for the item is visible and access-able by double click.
another option is command + shift + 4; witch lets you take a screen shot of a specific area of the screen.
often right click disable is done through java.
if you enable the developer menu, you can do things like disable java on a specific page.
to enable the developer menu. Menu bar, safari menu, preferences, advanced tab, check "enable developer menu"

  • Trackpad click bar not working correctly after getting a keyboard replacement.

I just got my whole keyboard replaced two days ago due to a sticking "m" problem on my 2008 macbook pro.  They didn't replace my trackpad, but now, it seems that my trackpad clicker will only respond if I apply a lot of pressure to the middle of the upper edge of the bar.  If I click anywhere else on the bar, the bar is completely unresponsive.  It makes clicking and dragging nearly impossible. I once had this problem when I had a bulging battery, but the battery is fine now.  Could something have happened when they replaced the keyboard? It can't be coincidence...  Is there a home remedy?  I know they will want to replace it if I take it in, and my old maching has been off warranty for a while now.

Either a misalignment or a cable is not properly connected.
Since they just "fixed" the keyboard I'd say take it back as they most likely caused this problem.
If you want to do it yourself, iFixit could be particularly useful:

  • My trackpad click is not working correctly

    Hello
My trackpad click not working very well. the click only work when press in the centre area of the trackpad which make it difficult to click so now I enable tap touch to make click. I got used to touch tap but if you want to drag something it is annoying.
anyway, is my trackpad is damaged or software problems ?
how can I fix it ?
I don't have Apple insurance Can I bring it to the Apple store ? Can I buy AppleCare now ?
    I got the latest MacBook

If your MacBook was bought less than 12 months ago it's still under the 1 year warranty. You can only buy the AppleCare warranty extension before the original warranty runs out.

  • Trackpad click not as sensitive after service

Hi there, just had the logic board replaced in my mid-2010 MBP, and I find now that the trackpad click is not as sensitive, it works about 90% of the time, but the 10% is quite frustrating. Even with the audible click, sometimes it doesn't register, and I need to hold it with more pressure. Is this something that they could have modified accidentally during re-construction of the mac body after logic board replacement?

There are times when I can play with my 3gs for long periods of time without a problem.  Other times, it only takes a few seconds for the screen to stop responding.  Pressing the sleep (?) button on the top right a couple of times (on, off) brings it back on...  but only for a few seconds.  I'm wondering if iCloud has anything to do with this....  and/or the network connection.  I was thinking perhaps it fails when I'm no edge and not WiFi.

  • IBook trackpad clicker is messed up... How can I fix it???

Sometime between the time I received my iBook G4 and now, the trackpad clicker got messed up. I have to press down on it really hard to get it to click, instead of just pressing gently on it. Anybody know how I can fix it?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Assuming you have not been eating or drinking around it, check your Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse settings for the Trackpad to make sure the clicking speed is set the way you want it.
Adding a third party mouse could affect the responsiveness of the trackpad.
If you have been eating or drinking around it, or it has been a bag not clear of lint, something might have gotten between the trackpad cracks and caused a short. You can always add a mouse or external trackpad if you suspect this has happened. I would not open the case yourself, however, if you want an authorized service technician to take a look to see nothing is loose or causing a problem inside, they might be able to help you out. As long as the machine is under a year old, if you haven't purchased AppleCare, I recommend you do, which you still can.

  • Trackpad click not working properly

Hey, I've had my Macbook 1.83ghz for like 6 or 7 months now and I haven't had any major problems up until now.
The Trackpad clicker has recently began to 'stick', it's hard to explain but it doesn't respond as it used to and it takes quite a heavy push now for it to respond, so it's pretty much impossible for me to drag files and work in Photoshop.
I did quite a bit of Googling to try and find similar problems but I only found this solution of using paper to fix it, which didn't work for me.
I noticed a recent post here concerning the recent Battery Update, I thought that might have been the problem I had but it seems it's not as I've just taken on the battery whilst running through the cable. Still getting the problem.
    Thanks

    Hi,
The best way is to phone AppleCare and ask (UK tel. 0870-876-0753), but otherwise, take it in to any authorised Apple repair centre.
Here's the UK retail store details. Try a search for Apple authorised re-sellers throughout the UK too, assuming that's where you are. All the official Apple retail stores, and all the officially authorised re-sellers (I think) can do the repair for you under warranty.
If you're outside the UK, search the Apple site for info for your area.
    Cheers,
    Rhys

  • My trackpad click doesn't register.

    Hi there,
I have a 13" MacBook Pro, and it's trackpad click doesn't seem to be registering. Whenever I try to click on something, nothing happens. But I don't think it's a hardware problem, because as I have tap to click enabled, I would expect this to still register, which it doesn't. Also whenever I hover over something that should return something else on hover, say an item in the dock, nothing happens. I've tried restarting, and resetting the SMC to no avail. I am running 10.8.2. Has anyone else heard of this issue, or better yet, know how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Sam

    Is it actually.... CLICKING?
A known issue with these buttonless trackpads that are actually a huge button is that debris gets trapped in the minuscule gap between the pad and the aluminum chassis or topcase. Hence, the pad goes down, gets stuck and never comes back up. Then comes the nightmare of trying to locate and remove the obstruction without demolishing the device, lest you end up having to repair it The Apple Way: by replacing the whole topcase to the tune of lots of money.
    So, is this your case?

  • Trackpad Click in Boot Camp

Just installed Leopard on MPB 2.2 Santa Rosa. Trackpad Click does not work (tapping on the trackpad to select). Anyone know a fix? Thanks.

Yeah this really urks me that the tap-click doesn't work. I've got WinXP SP2 running on my Macbook Pro. It's really frustrating that they don't enable this, but maybe I don't know the whole story.
Also, another feature not enabled in Windows is to ignore accidental trackpad touching. In Mac OS X, there is an option in the trackpad preferences to ignore accidental input. Basically it tries to eliminate any unintended trackpad touches e.g. your palms tapping it while you type. In boot camp, this doesn't work. Which is a HUGE problem in Windows for me because that's pretty much all I do is type.
Is anyone else having this problem?
