Trackpad failure after upgrading to X

After upgrading my 13" macpro, the trackpad would randomly fail when I was doing commands like switching desktops, mission control, or dashboard. Not always, but randomly, like it was going fine, but after I woke it up from sleep, it just didn't work out. Other trackpad gestures in a single desktop were fine however.

You and me both.  No trouble with a trackpad after three plus years with Leopard, Snow Leopard, and Lion.  Mountain Lion breaks my trackpad to the point where I can only hold the power button and press enter to shutdown.  I cannot select or click anything with the left or right side of the trackpad.  Neither the "tap tp click" nor the "full physical push works with either on my mid-2009 Macbook Pro, aka MacBookPro5,2.  Happens after every wake from sleep.
Frustrating and disappointing.  Is there a KB article regarding this?  It happened immediately after the Mountain Lion upgrade and was not expereienced before.
Ran repair permissions after upgrade.  Advice?  SMC (PRAM) reset?
Thanks,
fellow

The issue occurred after upgrading from xf86-video-intel-v2.99.912-1 to v2.99.914+ and xorg-server-1.15.2-1 to 1.16.0-6 (and -devel).
    same issue if:

    - Adding    Option "DRI" "False"
    Digged a bit:

    - same modules errors but X starts up without problems http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … 175511372/
makes me doubt if this issue is related to the modules not found. Which is the single indication I found so far x-/
Any light on where can the issue comes from? hardware is pretty much standard even if getting a bit old. Never had Xorg related issue so far on this pancake.

  • Safari Plug-In Failure after upgrading Flash Player

I've got OS X 10.9.2, Maverick, running on my iMac, and Safari 7.0.3.
Today I upgraded Flash Player to 13.0.0.182 version.
After upgrading I starting receiving the error message "Plug-in Failure" in every page I opened with video broadcasting, such as Youtube for instances, and no videos would be displayed anymore.
I already reinstalled Flash Player, rebooted my machine, have all plug-ins enabled in Safari Preferences, but no success whatsoever.
Think the solution could be downgrading to the early version of Flash Player, but have no idea how to do that now, since the Adobe site only allows me to UPgrade and not DOWNgrade.
Could anyone help me with this?
    Many Thanks...

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
From the Safari menu bar, select

  • [Solved] Boot failure after upgrade to udev 0.84

After upgrading my system it no longer boot properly.
The kernel boots fine. Initrd executes and the normal init starts.
First of is the start of udev. This starts and immediately complains that nss_ldap is unable to contact the ldap server. Not very strange when networking isn't started yet.
After a little while and a few repetitions of the nss_ldap error message udev says its done.
After this activating swap fails but mounting Root readonly succeds. After this init proceeds with "Checking file system". This fails miserably saying "no such file or directory /dev/sda3" which is the previously mounted root filesystem.
It seems like udev gets busy when not able to connect to the ldap server and hence doesn't create the device nodes for my harddrive in time.
Because the check of the filesystem fails i end up on a rescue prompt. And when logging in to that and check /dev the sda* nodes are there.
Does anyone have a clue on how udev depends on nss_ldap? Any other thought on whats going on?

Ok, after some investigation it turns out that it seems like udev starts a few /sbin/vol_id on the disks/partitions attached. These processes in turn triggered nss_ldap which couldnt connect to the remote ldap server due to network not being up.
I have a less than beautiful solution to the problem. Altering nss_ldap to do soft binds instead of the default that is hard binding. When using hard bind and connect fails it uses an exponential backoff and tries again a little later. Changing to soft bind makes nss_ldap returning immediately when failing.
To  change this edit  /etc/nss_ldap.conf and change the line saying something like
    #bind_policy hard
    to
    bind_policy soft
This at least helped me getting a system that boots again.

  • Logon failure after upgrade Windows 2003 domain functional level and schema

    Before upgrade:
Windows 2003 Std server: Domain functional level 2000, Schema verion 30
Crystal Report XI R2: Authentication: Windows AD
    Logon OK.
    After Upgrade:
Windows 2003 Std + Windows 2008: Domain functional level 2003, Schema verion 44
Crystal Report XI R2: Authentication: Windows AD
Logon Error: An error has occurred: java.lan.NullPointerException
Is it a Tomcat problem?  OR Java runtime problem?  OR XI R2 problem?
Anyone can help to fix it!?  Thanks!!

OK, I try again in the testing lab and simplify the combination.  We only consider Windows 2003 ONLY.
    Before AD upgrade:
AD/Domain Controller: Windows 2003 Std server: Domain functional level 2000, Schema verion 30
Crystal Report XI R2: run on Windows 2003 memeber server
Operating OS: Windows XP/Vista/7: Authentication: Windows AD
    Logon OK.
    Upgrade cmbination 1
    Step 1:
Upgrade Domain controller: Windows 2003 to Windows 2003 R2 (Domain functional level 2000, Schema verion 31 )
Crystal Report XI R2: run on Windows 2003 memeber server
Operating OS: Windows XP/Vista/7: Authentication: Windows AD
    Logon OK.
    Step 2:
Upgrade Domain Functional Level: Windows 2003 R2 (Domain functional level 2003, Schema verion 31)
Crystal Report XI R2: run on Windows 2003 memeber server
Operating OS: Windows XP/Vista/7: Authentication: Windows AD
    Logon Fail
Logon Error: An error has occurred: java.lan.NullPointerException
    Upgrade combination 2
Direct upgrade Domain Functional Level: Windows 2003 (Domain functional level 2003, Schema verion 30)
Crystal Report XI R2: run on Windows 2003 memeber server
Operating OS: Windows XP/Vista/7: Authentication: Windows AD
    Logon Fail
Logon Error: An error has occurred: java.lan.NullPointerException
In this testing, we can conclude that the Domain Functional Level upgrade from 2000 to 2003. The MI logon will fail.
Q1. Crystal Report XI R2 cannot run on Windows 2003 server (Domain Functional Level: 2003)?
Q2. If Crystal Report XI R2 can run on Domain Functional Leve: 2003, how to fix our problem?
Do you have any idea to help us?  Thanks!

  • Visual voicemail failure after upgrading to ios 7

I see MANY people having trouble with visual voicemail failing after upgrading to iOS 7.  It appears across many carriers.  In my case, my wife and I have the same phone model and carrier.  I upgraded to iOS7 and VVM stopped working.  My wife did not and hers still works.  VVM is a nice feature so I don't have to manual call and do the keypad stuff.  It is also nice that I get the visual indication when there is a new VM.
After trying a few things from various forums, I stopped by the ocal Apple Store and got help at the Genius Bar.  We tried a number more things without success - hardware diagnostics, various resets, changed VM password, etc.  The next step was to do a Reset->Erase all content and settings.  However, it so happened another customer was in with the same issue being helped by another tech.  This customer was on a different carrier.  So I left with the agreement from my tech he would contact me with the results so I did not needlessly wipe my phone.  Have not heard back.
This seems pretty clearly an iOS 7 issue.  I wonder if anyone has gotten a clear answer on whether this is a known defect being worked.
    Thanks

If you have performed all of those troubleshooting steps, I would next call the carrier and ask them to reset your voicemail and reset your password. This should take care of it on the phone.

  • Synchronization failure after upgrade to Desktop Software v.7.0

When trying to synchronize with Outlook after upgrade to Desktop Software v.7.0 got a message "CRADSDatabase ERROR (5211): There is an error converting Unicode string to or from code page string". The other options like device backup, synchronization of images and videos, file transfer, work fine. I am on BB Bold9700 (v.6.0, 2949) and Sony Vaio with Windows 7. The direction of synchronization does not matter and the same error pops up when e.g. only Tasks are attempted to synchronize.  There were no problems with Desktop Software v.6.

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.

  • Trackpad problems after upgrade

    Hi,
I replaced a dented bottom casing on my Powerbook G4 12 inch 1.5 Ghz and at the same time upgraded the internal hard drive from 80 GB to the maximum 250 GB as suggested by the apple dealers (and apple themselves though they were not allowed to install it). Now my track pad has intermittent problems. Sometimes it freezes, sometimes the mouse indicator on screen disappears completely. The only thing I am able to do is turn off the computer and re-boot. Then all works again. Have run disk warrior and this still happens. This machine has worked without one single problem for five years so I assume the upgrade is responsible. What do I do now?

    lookandsee:
Go back in and make sure that the trackpad cable is securely connected to the logic board, and if it is secured with tape, put a fresh piece of tape on it.

  • Authentication failure after upgrade to 10.4 Server

I have upgraded Xserve from 10.2 server to Tiger 10.4. The server does not log on after installation.

I'm having similar problems and hoping someone has found a solution.
I'm on Leopard now (10.5.1) and have recently configured SNMP so that I can monitor a server (MacPro tower). It appears that SNMP is working fine at the command line. For example, I can run a status easily enough:
    ra:~ administrator$ snmpstatus -c public localhost
    [UDP: [127.0.0.1]:161]=>[Darwin ra.local 9.1.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Wed Oct 31 17:46:22 PDT 2007; root:xnu-1228.0.2~1/RELEASE_I386 i386] Up: 0:24:37.39
    Interfaces: 6, Recv/Trans packets: 43993/43404 | IP: 44772/42918
    2 interfaces are down!
However, Server Monitor simply keeps giving me this:
1/27/08 12:42:48 PM: Failed to contact server
1/27/08 12:43:00 PM: Failed to contact server
1/27/08 12:43:12 PM: Failed to contact server
I've also noticed a problem with hwmon, apparently:
    ra:~ administrator$ sudo /usr/sbin/hwmond
hwmond will NOT run on this platform.
Huh. Very peculiar. So, from what I can tell, it seems like SNMP is running and should be (probably is) responding, but Server Monitor is not getting in. I'm not familiar with Server Monitor, but one thing I noticed is that if I try to run an SNMP status without specifying an appropriate community, I get a similar result as Server Monitor:
    ra:~ administrator$ snmpstatus -c notARealCommunity localhost
    Timeout: No Response from localhost
So, what community does Server Monitor use? Is there a way to change it? Is there somewhere that I can get a default SNMP configuration file that would work with Server Monitor?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • ATV2 Home Sharing Failure after Upgrade to 4.2.1

I have 3 ATV2s in my house. All 3 were working fine and able to stream from either my MBPro or iMac with no difficulties. Since upgrading one of my ATV2s to the newest software/firmware version 4.2.1, it is no longer able to log into my iMac library to stream. However, It still works with my MBPro. The other 2 ATV2s, which I did not upgrade (fortunately) to the latest ATV2 software version, continue to work flawlessly as they have all along logging into either library. When the upgraded ATV2 tries to log into my iMac library, it fails and generates a screen that says it is unable to do so and asks to verify that iTunes is open and it is on the same network.
Any ideas regarding what has caused this and how it can/will be corrected? Apple needs to take a close look at this.

I have the same problem. the unique solution is to put Poweroff to make a reboot in force of the appleTv.
i lost my homesharing after a inactivity.
if you shutdown tour computer, the homesharing don t apparears.
the home sharing is visible betweteen computers.
i am sur that it s a bug important of the network connexion. AppleTv think that the port was open, but I was closed.
I was a problem of Tcp/Ip connect. AppleTv don t work well the interconnectivity client and server. i hope that bug was resolve in a short Time by apple.

  • Trackpad reversed after upgrading to OS lion

Since downloading the newest version of OS Lion (currently using version 10.7.3) when I use the trackpad on my MacBook Pro if I use two fingers and drag down that now makes the screen image scroll up and vice versa.  Does anyone else have this problem? It feels backwards to me and is the opposite of how I used to use two fingers to scroll upd/down before upgrading this afternoon.
    Any suggestions appreciated!

That shouldn't be one of the options that is missing, though.  Older trackpads didn't have the same multitouch sensitivity, and thus could not recognize all the gestures that newer ones can.  But the scroll direction isn't the same thing.  You're sure you were looking in the right place?  Did you try other tabs?  Perhaps it's in a different place on older MBPs.
If it's really not there, you can at least comfort yourself with the fact that it's not as hard to learn as it will initially seem.  It helps if you envision that the page is a sheet of paper, and that you are putting your fingers on it and pushing it around.  IMHO, that's a lot more intuitive and sensible than dragging down to make the page move up, and your brain (if it's anything like mine) will soon breathe a sigh of relief at being able to leave that stale old method behind.
...until you have to use someone else's computer, that is!  ;)

  • Windows 10 upgrade failure - after upgrade at login no matter what password I try they all fail

After allowing the Windows 10 upgrade to run I am unable to login to the PC. It will not accept my previous PIN, or passwords. I went to the change password website and changed my Microsoft password but that doesn't work either. Then Microsoft tech support told me to contact HP for recovery tools. The upgrade on my laptop removed the recovery partition I thought I could fall back on if the upgrade did not work. Can anyone help?

I'm also having the same problem. Microsoft Tech were absolutely useless, I think they are getting frazzled by all the incoming problems.
Hopefully HP can sort this for all of us.
Not only is my old and new password not being accepted
I am also being told I am offline, so plug directly into NBN modem and still the same
Plus my icon to do restart, power off or sleep has now gone
Stuck with a useless Windows 10 log in screen, all my work is locked and I'm starting to panick now
One last thing, Microsoft got me to download MediaCreations so I could reboot to fix problem, but again didn't work for me, might work for someone else

  • Outlook Calendar sync failure after upgrade to DM 5.0

I just updated the Desktop Manager to 5.0 (from 4.3 I think). After updating DM it wanted to upgrade the Blackberry software to 4.5 which I agreed to.
Now when I sync I get no errors but items from the Blackberry are not being added to Outlook. I tried going back to DM 4.7, and the backup of the Blackberry made before the installs but it has not helped. I’ve cleared the folder in appdata\research in motion several times and tried syncing again. I also tried doing a one-way sync from device to Outlook. This resulted in a test event (only in Outlook) being deleted from Outlook but still no new events from the Blackberry being added to Outlook.
    Any help would be appreciated

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I suggest the following steps to completely start over cleanly (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!
