Trackpad gestures mountain lion

Hi
I've installed Mountain Lion, and am now finding that the trackpad gestures are working in the opposite direction to how they were previously!
Is anyone aware of this issue?
Any advice much appreciated.
thanks.

nah not in mountain lion its changed now. To get scrolling to invert untick the check box at the top with the description "When using gestures to scroll or navigate, move content in the direction of finger movement" under the trackpad settings.
They could've just described it simply as "Invert scroll direction" would've been much clearer

Hi. I also got the same problem but just learnt a way to resolve it. No need for 3rd party software.
If you don't care much about the Three finger drag gesture, and just want to swipe between pages in Finder and web browsers, please follow these:
System Preferences/Trackpad/More gestures/Swipe between pages/Scroll left or right with 2 fingers. This option works solely for web browsers.
In order to swipe between pages in Finder, web browsers and other apps as well, change the option to Swipe with two or three fingers. (3 for Finder and apps, 2 for web pages)
If you also want to use Three-finger drag to move windows and drag-select:
The problem occurs once you change to "Swipe with 2 or three fingers", Lion will automatically disable/uncheck the Three finger drag function in Trackpad/Point&Click. Or the other way around, you tick Three Finger drag, Swipe between pages automatically switches to Scroll with two fingers because these 2 functions are overlapped.
    My solution is:
stick with initial option Scroll with two fingers for navigating between web pages.
Re-tick Three finger drag in Point&Click.
Use combination: Option+Swipe 4 fingers for Finder and other apps (although it functions reversely, Swiping left to go backward, swipe right to go forward)
    My current gesture routine:
    - Swipe between web pages: Scroll with two fingers.
    - Swipe between pages in Finder and other apps: Combination Option+swipe 4 fingers
    - Swipe between full-screen apps (desktops): Swipe left or right with 4 fingers
    - Drag select and navigate windows: Three finger drag
    - Mission Control - Swipe up with 4 fingers. (avoid conflict with three finger drag)
    * You can actually use combination Option+Swipe 4 fingers for everything (apps, finder, web pages) but I personally prefer swipe 2 fingers for web browsing. It's just easier and quicker and avoid conflicts with other gestures.
    Hope this help.

whats happened to magic mouse gestures on mountain lion...i can't even scroll up or down a web page with my magic mouse now....

OK.  I found the fix for the problem!
You need to reset the PRAM and SMC...  I just did that and it completely fixed the problem.

  • Problem trackpad under Mountain Lion

Hi, since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I'm experiencing problems with the trackpad. Specifically with the 3 finger movement to switch between the screenfilling programs. When my imac goes to slumber and i wake him up, sometimes this movement doesn't work anymore.
    Is this problem known?

  • Trackpad gestures in Lion

I recently updated to Lion and desperately miss the ability to swipe sideways with 4 fingers on my trackpad to tab through all my open applications.  I know I can do it with command-tab, but it worked much better when I could do it with my right hand.  I know I can swipe upwards with 3 or 4 fingers to get to mission control but I don't really like that either.
I just want my ability to side swipe with 4 fingers to tab through my open apps back.
Can anyone help a poor grad student?

  • The trackpad/gestures is not working correctly on mountain lion

    Hello,
After I have downloaded Mountain Lion, my trackpad/gestures is not working correctly.  I cannot swipe with the three fingers, etc. and have to reboot and then it works, but will eventually not work over time.  Does anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

I am having the same problem now.
Was okay when first installed on date of Mountain Lion release.
Now I have lost function in Spaces.
Spaces would only work if I used Dock icon to move between Spaces.
Now just run everything in one Space.

  • Mountain Lion kills bluetooth, trackpad gestures

I have latest gen iMac.   After Mountain Lion upgrade.   No bluetooth is available though my keyboard and trackpad connect.   Keyboard acts generics with no top row keys working and trackpad has lost gestures.  Machine does see a trackpad in system prefs.
    Is this release garbage???

Okay, I just found another thread that solved it for me.
Go to this thread and on the second page near the bottom you'll find a thread by joe81tx. Even though my "Disable automatic login" box was already unchecked and I couldn't find anything about name and password, and I figured that it wasn't going to work ... it did.
I hope it works for you.

  • Mountain Lion trackpad help

Is there any Mountain Lion trackpad gesture that brings all open applications up to the front for easy quitting? On Snow Leopard I was able to swipe 4 fingers to the right or left and quit my applications easily by hitting "Command" Q. I know how to quit applications by right clicking on the application while on the dock, but is there an easy way to bring all open applications to the front?

Press command-tab, and continue holding down the command key.  You can cycle through the list that appears (all while keeping the command key held down) by pressing the tab key, or shift-tab to go backwards.  When a particular app is selected, press the Q key (remember, you're still holding down the command key!), and the app should quit.  Repeat until you have quit all the apps you want to quit.

  • Gestures in Mountain Lion

    Hello to everybody,
do you know if in mountain lion there is a way (without installing a third part software) to reintroduce the gestures with 4 fingers:
    slide 4 fingers up=show desktop
slide 4 finger horizontally= show all the open applications (the same than cmd+tab)
Gestures with the thumb are ok on the ipad but I find them quite unconfortable on the trackpad.
    Thank you in advance.

Yeah, it works for a day and then it stops working. I have to either restart the computer or uncheck and recheck every gesture. Apple needs to fix this glitch.

  • HT2490 Show Desktop" gesture query in Mountain Lion

Can I change "Show Desktop" gesture to "swipe down with four fingers" on Mountain Lion?
My muscle memory prefers swiping down when I'm designing and have a lot of programmes open but the Mountain Lion doesn't seem to allow me to edit this particular function. Is there away around this?
    Thanks
    Lyall

OMG I think this is a major oversight.
It was a major step up from Leopard that the four finger swipe brought up the heads-up screen and Desktop. Now the only way to see all apps open is command-Tab.
Agreed the thumb-three finger,  not only awkward  does not work 50% of the time,  making it much harder to get to the Desktop.  This is something you do all the time ! Back to fn-F11 or conveniently control-click missioncontrol icon on the Dock.
MissionControl ?  Not so useful if you can not access the open and hidden files, what where they thinking??? three finger, four finger, Dock icon why all those options at the expense of the most useful in a day today day work machine.
Hopefully they can modify the TrackPad preferences in a future update to bring these most functional gestures back!

  • Multi touch gestures not working in mountain lion?

Any one else having problems with their multi gesture trackpad not working when you wake your notebook from sleeping with Mountain Lion? If I restart it fixes it but once it falls asleep it stops working again.

I've been having the same problem.  When my MBP would wake from sleep any touch gestures that used more than two fingers would not work.  I also had the issue where the MBP would forget the wireless network when it woke from sleep.  I found this answer on another thread and it worked on both issues for me.

  • Mountain Lion OS X Trackpad issues

    UPDATE ISSUE RESOLVED:
I found there were extra settings. Apparently when installing mountain lion my three finger gestures were changed to four finger gestures.
I have downloaded and installed Mountain Lion today and have come across a very annoying issue.
My three finger swipes to move between full screen programs no longer works.
I have found several other users with this issue but their issue seems to have been resolved by disabling the two new gestures in "Trackpad" or disabling the "Screensaver". Neither of these temporary resoultions to the issue have fixed it for me.
And yes I restarted my mac after disabling the
    Tap to click
    Three finger drag
Magic Trackpad gestures and disabled screensaver.
I know that this is an issue for several users and Apple should mend this problem at some point, but are there any other temporary measures I can perform to get back the three finger swipe between programs as i use it all the time. (at the moment im using CMD + Tab to get between programs)
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Mt Lion IS the Operating System. It Is the system you are booting into. It is Not an App.
If you are talking about the Mt Lion installer that got downloaded from the internet then as mende1 pointed out it get Deleted after the install completes.
Stupid, YES but then we are dealing with Apple here.

  • Track pad gestures fail in Mountain Lion

I just installed Mountain Lion and I'm having occasional problems with the trackpad. Out of nowhere the gestures such as expose, all application screens, etc. fail to work. Even the hot corners don't work. I've typed "killall Dock" into the terminal, and that fixes it, but it's annoying to have to do that. Is there an update out yet? This is kind of a drag.

There is already a larger thread here about the same problem. If there is a fix, it should be posted here.

  • Tab View in Safari 6 on Mountain Lion is not activating with the Pinch Gesture.

The pinch gesture that activates Tab View in Safari 6 is not working. I have the latest MacBook Pro 17" with an updated Mountain Lion OS.
Everything else in Safari works fine, even the keyboard shortcut for Tab View works. Whether I pinch on my laptop trackpad or the standalone trackpad the pinch gesture doesn't activate the new Tab View feature.
    Anyone else have this issue?

Sorry but what is the keyboard shortcut to activate tab view? KineticBranding, you said, "Everything else in Safari works fine, even the keyboard shortcut for Tab View works. " I've been looking everywhere for a keyboard alternative to the pinch out gesture that activates tab view. I am aware of cmd+shft+arrow to got left or right a tab, but is there a shortcut to activate tab view?
    Thank you.
