Trackpad hard to click even after replacing battery

Hello,
I have a MacBook pro 2011 and I came to the point where I needed to change the battery because it was no longer holding its charge and it was pushing up on the trackpad making it hard to click. (The clicking worked/works, it is just moderately hard to click on it.) I replaced the battery and now the battery works fine just the trackpad still doesn't click properly or as easily as it should. Any sudgestions to what i should do to make it be easier to click? Any help would be great thanks!!

From what I gather pressing the button twice or holding on the button more that a couple seconds can crash the circuits. You may have to reset the logic board. Getting into a big hurry can be a disaster here. See below from the service manual.
<hr width="200">
Many system problems can be resolved by resetting the Cuda chip (see the Symptom/Cure tables for examples). Press the Cuda reset button on the logic board to reset the Cuda chip. (The Cuda reset button is located on the back edge of the logic board between the modem port and the processor module. Refer to the Logic Board Diagram in the Basics chapter for location information.) If you continue to experience system problems, refer to “Resetting the Logic Board” later in this chapter.

Resetting the logic board can resolve many system problems (see the Symptom/Cure tables for examples). Whenever you have a unit that fails to power up, you should follow this procedure before replacing any modules.
1. Unplug the computer.
2. Disconnect the cable that runs from the power supply to the power filter board on the bottom side of the logic board/mass storage chassis.
3. Press the Power On button on the front of the unit.
4. Remove the logic board/mass storage chassis from the unit.
5. Remove the battery from the logic board.
6. Wait at least 10 minutes before replacing the battery.
7. Make sure the battery is installed in the correct +/- direction.
8. Reassemble the computer and test the unit.
Note: This procedure resets the computer’s PRAM. Be sure to check the computer’s time/date and other system parameter settings afterwards.

The above instructions may get you going.

  • Macbook not charging even after replacing battery

I have a 13" unibody that was having problems charging, and eventually died and would not run off of battery or the power cord. When I took off the bottom of the computer and disconnected the battery the computer would work fine as long as it was hooked up to the power cord. I bought a new battery and instaleld it and the computer worked flawlessly. I decided to recalibrate the battery per the instructions on the apples website and now when I plug the power cord into the computer for normal charging I get the "Not Charging" icon on the top. If I pull the plug it wont shut down it shows that it has a little battery left. The condition shows as normal and coconut battery shows the current charge @ 2%. Everything worked fine 6 hours ago.
    Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: Resetting PRAM did not change anything.
The Magsafe LED is black, no color.

    Thank you for the reply.
I have a new charger coming in the mail so I will see if using that solves the problem. Right now there are 2 macbooks in the family with only one charger as my puppy chewed through he cord on the other one. I tried swapping the magsafe but keeping the same cord (magsafe to computer), but still didn't have any luck.
I think it's weird that I originally could not even power the Macbook on unless I removed the bottom, disconnected the battery and plugged in the power supply. Then when I installed a new battery it worked perfectly with or without the power adapter until I tried to recalibrate the battery.

  • Getting "replace hard disk error (#10008)" even after replacing hard disk

    Hi!
My laptop- HP Pavillion dv 6502- is 4 years old.
Recently, the hard disk supposedly crashed as I was not able to get anything other than a blank screen. I checked with BIOS diagnostics, and it showed error #10008- Replace Hard disk.
So, I went to an hp service centre and got the hard disk replaced.
My earlier hard drive was a Seagate 160 gb momentus 5400.3 disk.
New one is the Seagate 250 gb disk.
The laptop was working properly the day the hard disk was replaced. BIOS diagnostic status for the disk was "Passed"
But, the very next day when i tried starting the system, I got a blank screen again. I again went to BIOS and ran the diagnostic test. I performed the test twice. It took a lot of time to finish- jumping from Reaching till '80% complete', then jumping back to '10% complete', then '90% complete', then '10% complete', and so on.. finally showing '100% complete' and status : #10008 - Replace hard disk - both the times.
Then, I had to go out of station and so, I didn't touch my laptop for 2 days. When i came back, the computer was working fine and the BIOS test status said "Passed" for the disk
What could be the problem due to which my problem wasn't starting earlier- even after replacement of disk? Is it possible that the disk was not the problem in the first place?

    Hi!
Turned out the second new Hard disk was also not fine. I went back to the service centre and got the hard disk replaced again. This time the laptop has been working fine.

You might try a "hard reset" where you remove battery and AC charger, hold down power button 20-30 seconds and then reassemble and turn on. Reset BIOS (F10) to default settings, too.

  • Trackpad Not Working Even After Replacement

About 3 months ago, I spilled water all over my T510.  Everything worked afterwards, except for the trackpad and fingerprint reader.  The trackpad was not even seen in BIOS.  The fingerprint reader lit up, and I could turn on the laptop by sliding my finger over it, but it would not log me in, and was not detected in the OS.  I removed the pamlrest, and the wires going to the motherboard had been corroded when I spilled the water.
Yesterday, I got my replacement palmrest, with trackpad and FPR included.  I replaced the old one with the new one, and I checked in the bios.  The trackpad was shown, along with the TrackPoint.  Both were set to "Automatic".  When I booted into Debian, neither the trackpad nor the trackpoint worked.  I tried Windows, and it was the same. Here is what I've tried:
    Palmrest Disconnected:
    Trackpoint: works
    Trackpad: does not work (duh)
Palmrest Connected, Trackpad Disabled in BIOS, Trackpoint Enabled:
    Trackpoint: Works
Trackpad: does not work (duh again)
Palmrest Connected, Trackpad Enabled in BIOS, Trackpoint Disabled:
    Trackpoint: Does not work
    Trackpad: Does not work
Palmrest Connected, Trackpoint and Trackpad Enabled in BIOS:
    Trackpoint: Does not work
    Trackpad: Does not work
Palmrest Connected, Trackpoint and Trackpad Disabled in BIOS (I don't know why I included this):
    Trackpoint: Does not work
    Trackpad: Does not work
Does anybody know what is wrong?  I really hope it isn't my motherboard.

It is hard to diagnose from 3000 miles away, but my guess is that if the cable got wet, so did the connector on the motherboard and/or the traces to it. If it was just water and only a drop got on the motherboard, it is possible that there is a small short at the connector (either on the outside or the inside) If that is the case, maybe cleaning it with electronics cleaner (best) or denatured alcohol will help.

  • "No batteries available" even after new battery, software update = WRONG!!1

I see this question posted 5 times a day, but there's no definitive answer. +"Why won't my Macbook battery charge?"+ and the replies usually goes like this:
    1 Download the Battery Update
    *-Didn't work*
    2. Reset the SMC
    *-Still didn't work*
    3. Replace battery
    *"No batteries available"*
Ahh, but there are batteries available. I ran to the internet cafe and borrowed a strangers fully charged Macbook battery, but my Mac wouldn't run off it.
    ================================================================================ ====
Okay, these batteries work just fine so the problem is obviously with the computer. So what's the problem?
    "Replace the logic board"
*-Of course! I've got $500 to spare. (After all, I bought a Mac.)*
All sarcasm aside. Before one commits to Logic Board Repair/Replacement/Apple Store, what kind of repair are we looking at? Some of us here are techs and I for one would really like to know where the signal is lost. After all, the machine still runs off the adapter. Maybe I could use that old soldering gun and multi-meter. Remember those? (Sounds like caveman times.)

*ALL IN ALL, THIS ISSUE IS NOT UNCOMMON.*
*SO WHAT'S THE FIRST THING TO GO?*

My MacBook was working fine since November 2007 until a couple of months ago it started to say it was not charging the battery. I unpluged and pluged again and it worked fine. One day, I was using the computer and it suddenly shut down. I tried to turn it on but it didn't work. The nightmare began. Now I can only use my MacBook pluged in to the AC adapter and when I ran hte Hardware Test, it said there was the following error:
    4SNS/1/40000000: TBOT
Also, when I use the Disck Utility, it says my hard disk is damaged and needs a replacement. However, it is working good. I bought this computer in Boston but right now I'm in the Caribbean, with no plans of traveling to the US before the guarrantee expires. I find no answers to this problems, would somebody give US ALL a hand?

  • My remote wont turn the appletv on even after changing battery and unplugging everything and plugging it back in

my remote wont turn my appletv on even after changing the battery

Nothing, the light didn't flash at all? If so you either have a dead remote or a dead Apple TV.
If you have a Mac you can try pairing the remote with it to test. Go to System Preferences->Security & Privacy and unlock the panel. Click the Advanced button and look for the Disable Remote Control Infrared   Receiver checkbox. Clear it and click the Pair button. If the remote is ok you should be able to pair it to the Mac.
If you can't pair the remote it most likely pints to a bad remote. If the Apple TV still won;t respond then you need to get the Apple TV looked at.
    Good luck

  • Black spots IMac 27 even after replacing screen

    Hi,
I am really disappointed from Apple and my IMac 27.
I have purchased a brand new IMac 27’ 6 months ago.
After several weeks of use I have noticed dark spots appeared all over my screen.
After searching the web about it, I have realized it is a common problem shared by many IMac 27 users.
I have taken the IMac to IDigital labs (Israel’s Apple premium reseller) – and they agreed that the screen is defected and needed to be replaced.
I was so disappointed; buying what should be elite model of computers turned out bad only after few months of use.
Also, during my search in the internet I have discovered that this problem reproduces even after the LCD panel was replaced.
After being in IDigital labs for more than 2 weeks, I got my IMac only to find out that the screen is still defected and has even bigger dark spots in it.
IDigital now says that the new screen is also defected and that sometimes Apple ships damaged repair parts. Now, I have to wait for 2 more weeks until the new screen arrives.
I would like to replace my IMac with a new one.
I don’t think I should have a refurbished product only after several months of use.
    Regards,
    Eran.

I am pretty sure I am having the exact same problem as you. Random small black dots placed in different spots all over the screen?

I've done the reset by turning off the computer, removing the battery, unplugging the power cord then holding down the power button for 5 seconds.. its not working and I'm very frustrated

Does the unit turn on even with the battery installed? What about not installed? If it does go to Apple Menu > About this Mac> System Profiler. Click on the "Power" button on the left list and copy paste it into here. Mine looks like this.

  • IPhone 3gs Battery Heating, iPhone does not start even after the battery replaced

    Hello
Last night my phone was plugged into the car charger and suddenly it went blank and turnned off itself. I Tried DFU'in it but nothing worked. I charged it but all it does is heats up. Today I replaced the battery and it sill wouldnt work. I cant turn it on at all!
Can some one please help me.
    URGENT!!
    Thanks

Extremely doubtful. Without being able to get the phone up and running, it's impossible to say for sure, but I'm guessing any data that was on the phone is long gone.
As for what could be the issue... at this stage, I'll have to go with an all encompassing "it's broke". You're probably going to either have to find a professional repair shop or just buy a new phone. Apple won't touch it at this stage since you opened it yourself.

  • Problem - cannot format hard drive even after replacement

Dead hard drive. I was able to recover part of the data in firewire mode.
Rebooting from OSX disk hangs with a circle slash. Same if I try to reboot with Diskwarrior CD or TTPro. Removing the hard drive has the same result.
Booting from an external firewire utility drive is successful, however I'm unable to successfully reformat the hard drive. Disk Utility sees the drive, and begins to reformat, but hangs at about 10%, and it instantly shows more than 10 partitions but none of them successfully are created. Drive Genius just fails to initialize.
I tried a different hard drive, same result.
Apple Hardware Test and TTpro all show that hardware is OK.
    Any ideas?

    Hi James,
I'm not clear on some things:
"Rebooting from OSX disk hangs with a circle slash.
Same if I try to reboot with Diskwarrior CD or TTPro.
Removing the hard drive has the same result.
Correct. I cannot boot from ANY bootable CD except AHT, not even with the internal drive completely disconnected.
Booting from an external firewire utility drive is
successful, however I'm unable to successfully

First you say you can't boot with DW or TTP, then you
say AHT and TTP show hardware is OK. So you
can boot with DW and TTP?
I cannot boot from ANY CD. But I CAN boot from an external firewire drive. My iPod is a diagnostic drive, which includes TTP and AHT. Oh, and I CAN boot from an AHT CD but only into AHT, not beyond AHT into the finder.
Are you running an OS on the external HD that's at
least as new as the one that originally shipped on
    the PB?
Yes. It's the brand new version of Protogo that just came out in Jan 07. I've also tried CD's from 9.1 to 10.4.
Have you reseated your RAM? Tried with just one
module? Switched that module to the other slot?
Repeated same process with other module?
Yes, that was actually the first thing I tried.
If still no luck, try removing the bottom cover,
gently snugging up all the screws you can find,
flipping the keyboard up and doing the same, then try
    booting (with bottom cover off).
If still no luck, I would try the
    href="http://www.posner.net/marc/projects/TiBook/TiBoo
    k.html">Orange Ribbon Cable Fix.
If still no luck, sounds like a logic board issue, or
possible the display cables in the hinges.
    Tried that too...no change.

  • Extremely slow computer even after replacing hard drive. Please help.

The problem started when I upgraded to lion (I think). I also run VMware fusion with windows 7 so maybe a virus? I ran disk utilities, followed suggestions on these communities to no avail. Our IT person and then apple support told me I should replace the hard drive. So I did. I played around a little bit and everything seemed good. Then I did a full restore from time capsule and everything is going downhill again. Any suggestions on a next step?

  • Blinking folder even after replacing hard drive

I Was skyping with a friend went to do something came back i was sighnd out of skype and my computer froze i restarted then it gave me a blinking file witch means failing hard drive so i put in my old hard drive that i knew works and still gives me a blinking file macbook pro 08 running on mavricks osx and somthing been running down ram for awhile to where it was not usable i had to keep running memory clean

a blinking file witch means failing hard drive
A blinking folder, possibly alternating with a question mark, says your Mac could not find the drive in the last-specified location. Although this COULD be caused by a failed drive, it could also be caused by your Mac simply forgetting the drive you specified in System preferences > Startup Disk.
If unsure what drives are available, hold down Alt/Option at startup, and a ROM routine will slowly draw an Icon for each potentially-bootable Volume it can find. Select the one you want and proceed, but be sure to quickly re-specify the Startup Disk.
