Trackpad help

New MacBook Pro user from PC and I'm lost.  Trackpad issues and nothing on YouTube is helping. Why cannot I not open anything??  My fingers aren't working.

If you have ignore accidental trackpad touch (or some such box) checked and you are still getting the problem then you have an overly sensitive trackpad.
I have the same issue and had two MBPs returned to the engineers (with additional problems).
The problem is where you are slightly touching the corners of the trackpad while typing. The four corners should be dead while typing but if you have this problem it means that they are not dead.
As far as I know there is NO fix but you could try taking your MBP in to have the trackpad replaced.
good luck,
frank

  • 9360 Trackpad Help

    Hello.
I really need help with my trackpad. There's a problem with the actual pad. Recently the old one messed up, it stopped working completely so I purchased a new one from a seller I bought all my parts off and installed it myself. The trackpad works sometimes, but only when the keyboard and trackpad backlight are off,  this happens every so often, and also when the phone is on charge it works perfectly even if the backlight is on. I think that there's not enough power getting to the trackpad, because the backlight is a lot brighter when on charge and then it works, and when the light is off there's more power going to the optics of it. If anyone has any idea's or any way to turn the light off please let me know
    Thanks

  • Magic Trackpad help, please

this is kinda driving me buggy, so I thought I'd turn to here for help. I have a Magic trackpad and although it generally works fine, it loses the connection pretty easily. I move it 3 inches to the left or right and ...."connection lost".  It seemed to work better with regular batteries, rather than the rechargeables that are in there now..but not a lot better. I thought Bluetooth was supposed to work up to 10 feet or so with no problem....
any help appreciated--I was told that an external BT dongle would help me, but I haven't been able to find one that's Mac compatible, at least not yet
    so thanks for any help

  • I need trackpad help!!

I recenlty had to replace my hard drive in my macbook pro and now my trackpad doesn't do the two finger right click thing...I've checked the settings repeatedly, restarted the computer and redownloaded software.  I am running Mac OS X version 10.7.5 (Lion).  Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

First step to take is to backup the computer.
Other than that computer should not be used at all.
Second step is to seek professional help and to make sure that no serious damage occurred.
You may see some other suggestions but they may not help that much in the long run.

  • MacBook Pro trackpad help - please?

    Hi!
I know there are some answers to this out there but I can't understand them. Can anyone tell me, in very simple terms how I can make the 2-finger scroll work on my trackpad? I bought the MacBook Pro about 4 months ago and migrated my things from my iBook which was about 4 years old. If you can literally give me step by step instructions, that would be amazing.
    Many thanks!

If you have done a migration assistant, some user library files could be messing some things up. Create a new user account on the computer (Apple logo at top left - system prefrences - users and groups - then click the plus at the bottom left.....if the plus is greyed out hit the padlock and enter your password) Create a new user account. Then have a look at the trackpad prefrences in there......are they normal?!

  • Mountain Lion trackpad help

Is there any Mountain Lion trackpad gesture that brings all open applications up to the front for easy quitting? On Snow Leopard I was able to swipe 4 fingers to the right or left and quit my applications easily by hitting "Command" Q. I know how to quit applications by right clicking on the application while on the dock, but is there an easy way to bring all open applications to the front?

Press command-tab, and continue holding down the command key.  You can cycle through the list that appears (all while keeping the command key held down) by pressing the tab key, or shift-tab to go backwards.  When a particular app is selected, press the Q key (remember, you're still holding down the command key!), and the app should quit.  Repeat until you have quit all the apps you want to quit.

  • Magic trackpad help

Hi just bought another imac 27 top of the line, and the trackpad is not working, I've looked at 10.7.4 i removed the bamboo driver (wacom) and the griffin powermate driver and prefs and still am not seeing the correct trackpad system prefs nor does the bluetooth say i'm connected yet the bluetooths says I am.
I don't get what could be wrong because last night I did see the correct and nothing had changed from then. I'm really frustrated since I wasted 3k on my macbook pro 17 which doesn't charge when the computer is running over 40% etc... and now to find the imac issues including the massive work to change the hard drive?
I just want their products to work and not be pretty for once.... sorry to rant but does anyone have a fix for the trackpad not working....
    Thanks

Have you run Software Update? Once you do it should locate and download the preferences for the Magic Trackpad. After the preferences are installed go to: System Preferences-Trackpad and then you can begin customizing your gestures.
    Regards,
    Roger

  • Macbook Pro Retina trackpad help.

Hi I just got my mbpr 15'' ( 2013 model) probably less than a month ago and I must say I love it. However lately the track pad has been erractic and jumping here and there, right clicking when you click the left side, sometimes left clicking when you hit the right side, and not moving in mid mouse swipe wh en your finger trails across it. I'm not sure if it's driver related. But I doubt it. Especially a problem when clicking left to grab a scroll ( like on the side of a webpage) to bring it up or down, it might right click on it's own.
I want to see if anybody else has ts issue or if there's a driver fix. I live an hour away from a Mac store and will go if I have to though.

@ Linc Davis can you please answer my question? https://discussions.apple.com/message/22007498#22007498

  • Using trackpad in windows

Cannot disable trackpad for Windows (in Bootcamp). No option provided to ignore accidental inputs when typing (despite the fact that Bootcamp control panel Trackpad Help indicates that there is).

This does nothing special. It is a click and when you release the command key it works like the windows button just like the left command key. This seems to be a pretty major oversight considering that no mac notebook has a right mousebutton and it's pretty inconvinient to tote around a windows mouse. There has to be some right click shortcut I am missing.

  • HELP! In middle of upgrade to windows 8 and keyboard/trackpad stopped working!

Hey all, new mac user here. Just bought a new macbook air 13" 2014 model. I succedded in installing windows 7 via bootcamp via a usb drive and was in the middle of installing a downloadable windows 8 upgrade (at a preferences page when they ask you to select your favorite color) when my macbook's keyboard/trackpad stopped functioning. I plugged in a usb mouse and that would not work either. I have absolutely no clue as to what to do next. If I had to install some driver or thing please tell me how to cancel the windows 8 install and return to windows 7. Thanks for all your help strangers

I was not able to find any drivers specifically for the web cam. I did find software to use the camera, but that was all I could find.
However, I do have a question about the Windows 8 upgrade process that was used.
Did you do an in-place upgrade or a clean install of Windows 8?
Go back to device manager. Is there anything here at all in an other category indicating it is having some type of an issue?
There are certain events that will need to happen.
Go to the start screen and search for uninstall a program. Select this option in the settings category.
This should take you to the Desktop app and show the familiar uninstall a program feature from Windows 7.
Select add/remove Windows Components on the left.
Is Framework 3.5 checked here? If not, enable this and install it.
Then, install the HP framework which is needed for some HP programs. This is a Windows 7 installation, but it should go through.
    http://goo.gl/jDI7X
Once that is finished, reboot the system.
    Let me know what happens.

  • Macbook Air Trackpad And Keyboard Unresponsive!! PLEASE HELP!

Hello everyone, a while ago (about 2 months) my Macbook air started having troubles with its trackpack and keyboard. At random times they would become unresponsive and just stop working. They would work for like 1 second when the computer turns on but then it would stop. A couple weeks ago the problem stopped occuring the keyboard and trackpad were working fine and dandy. Of course until last night, I open the computer and the trackpad and keyboard won't work.. The keyboard lights are on and the power button works but nothing else does it is extremely frustrating! I did an SMC reset which worked for like 5 minutes until it stopped working again. I have done a NVRAM reset nothing, I have done everything that I have seen but I need a fix for this! The mac is running OS X 10.9.3 and I am pretty sure that is the latest. Please help me guys I am really getting frustrated with this undying problem ;/

you don't need to disassemble your device.

maybe rust has already been created.
