Trackpad inadvertently resizes screen icon size

I'm noticing that often when I flip back to the Finder or have left the machine idle awhile and come back to the desktop that the very first gesture on the trackpad is shrinking the whole desktop. I thought maybe this was related to the Two Finger Screen Zoom option on the pad and turned that off, but it hasn't made any difference. It's easy enough to go in and resize everything, but it's getting a bit annoying to have to whenever I first "come back to" the laptop. Anyone have an idea how to block this little glitch?
Thanks,
gf

I have the same problem, which is why I came to the forum looking for threads with the same issue and found your post. Same as you, only happens when I come back to the machine after some time, 5-10 minutes, not very long. It happens when my cursor is over the desktop. Not sure if this is a software bug (10.6.7) or trackpad hardware issue. I recently got my MBP and downloaded 10.6.7, so I'm not sure if this was happening before the recent update.

  • 10.7.2 launchpad icon size is ridiculous huge :(((

    I updated to 10.7.2, everything is fine. The iCloud is great but the launchpad icon size is annoying me. They are ridiculously too big, maybe this is the first tim Apple disapointed me for their update. I've been searching for the solution to resize the icons' size. But probably there is none temporary. APPLE PLEASE BRING THE ICON SIZE BACK!!!!!

    How on earth did you figure that out?
    That worked fine for me on my macbook air, but I had to borrow the system file from my other computers time machine drive.
    I guess without a time machine backup, it can't be done.
    What is strange is, I actually like the 10.7.2 launchpad on my iMac, it looks much better,  the icons are well spaced, probably because it has a 27" screen, not a 13" one. It looks horrible for laptops!
    Apple Really really really need to add a preferences pane for launchpad.
    I'm glad my launchpad looks as great as it did before!
    Thanks for this amazing solution, if I have any issues with it I will post them here.
    So far so good though.
    Thanks!

  • Gnome3: change icon size of favorite bar

    hi,
    i want to resize the icon size of the favorite bar in the gnome-shell but cant find the right position in one of the css files... I'm currently using a workaround where i changed the following in /usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/dash.js:
    dash.js:        //let iconSizes = [ 16, 22, 24, 32, 48, 64 ];
    dash.js:        let iconSizes = [ 16, 22, 24, 32, 48 ];
    im pretty sure that there is a cleaner solution.
    regards hennesiv

    Thank you, the-edmeister, as that too is what I needed. The default icon size of F.F. 14.0, are just plain to small. This really helped. :-)

  • How to use the multi-touch trackpad to adjust icon size?

    After I upgrade my OS X 10.6 to 10.9.2, I lost.
    Everyday I search the forum to look for the "feeling" of using Mac OS (migrate from windows to OS X10.6). The OS X 10.6 is just great.
    Now the questions, how to use the multi-touch trackpad to adjust icon size with simple pinch open or close gesture?
    Thank you.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're users here and don't speak for "Apple Inc."
    Using the multi-touch trackpad to 'zoom' in or out is temporary.
    The best way to permanently change icon size on the Desktop is to Command+click on an empty place on the Desktop screen and select Icon Size from the Desktop preference pane:

  • Resizing screen and icons

    After downloading Google Chrome, screen shrank and icons blew up in size... How do i resize... tried various combinations clicking on display in SystemPref but that did not work.... thanks, ehzee

    Welcome to the Forums!
    It would be helpful if you could give us a little more detail about what things look like.
    The easiest way would be to take a screenshot by pressing shift-command-4 and then and then click-dragging a box around your screen.
    This will take a picture of your screen and save it to your desktop.
    Post that picture, and we will be able to see exactly what is happening.
    When you say that the icons "blew up in size" do you mean like icons on your desktop or in a Finder window?
    If so, press command-j and move the Icon Size slider.
    In the Displays pane of System Preferences, make sure that you have selected the last item on the Resolutions: list.
    Please post the screenshot and give us more details about what you are seeing.

  • I touch an app icon - it enlarges to full screen size as if loading but 1 second later shrinks back to normal icon size. This happens with every app - nothing loads - please help if you can, I'd be very grateful !  Paul

    I touch an app icon - it enlarges to full screen size as if loading but 1 second later it shrinks back to icon size. All the app icons do this - I can't load anything !  If anyone can help I'd be grateful - thanks - Paul

    Hi Paul, first you must check you multitaskbar from the phone. Press the Homebutton twice and you see a litte new bar. There you see all open apps. Hold your finger on one app until they shake and a red dot appear in the left corner of every app. Close all apps and restart your phone. If that won´t help make a reset from the iphone.
    Press sleep/wake and home button for 10 sek at the same time until a white apple comes up.
    If the issue still persist try to do a restore from your iphone

  • Trackpad resizing desktop icons

    I have a quirk with the trackpad and resizing the Desktop icons. (I have installed the December 08 firmware updates.)
    If I put two fingers on the trackpad, and swirl one finger, then the Desktop icons will get big or get small.
    I wonder if others have this same problem, and if so then whether they have discovered a solution? Is it just an oddity that I experience?

    Are you sure you didn't hit the control key when you did that since if you hit ctrl+two finger scroll, it'll zoom the whole desktop.

  • How do i reset my icon size?

    I'm just curious but now that i can resize my icons in Snow Leopard, is there anyway way to completely reset the all the icons in finder windows and on the desktop to the default size like the way the came when it was first installed?

    Step 1: To make the screen a bigger font size by default, i tried this and it worked for me: Tools, Options, Content Fonts and Colors: change your lower number to a larger number font size for example 20, click on advanced button to the right of the 20, change numbers in the three places to 20, click ok, click ok.
    Bonus Step 2: while you are playing with default screen font sizes, life will also become easier if you also add the plus and minus zoom buttons to your toolbar: View, Toolbars, Customize, and drag any toolbar buttons you like into the toolbar. By having the + and - buttons you can adjust for size readability of your browser view with just one mouse click or two.

    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;

    public class StateChanger {

            btn.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
                public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
                    int newstate = (f.getExtendedState() == JFrame.MAXIMIZED_BOTH)?
                        JFrame.NORMAL : JFrame.MAXIMIZED_BOTH;
                    f.setExtendedState(newstate);
            f.getContentPane().add(btn, BorderLayout.SOUTH);

  • Just want to ask about the full screen icon that used to be on the play bar but seems to have disappeared since upgrade to mountain lion, any way to get it back?

    Since upgrading to mountain lion I've noticed the full screen icon which used to be on the playback bar in quicktime has gone, I know you can go to the menus to make it full screen but if you're watching something online like with apple trailers I can't seem to make them fullscreen anymore, is it me or have they just taken this option away now?

    I've been playing the trailers in my browser and the full screen option has gone for me,
    As already stated, the icon was replaced by the "Share" pop-up menu icon in the same location.
    and the command-f keys don't work either when I'm playing in a browser and it's truly only been since I upgraded to mountain lion.
    Strange! It works for me. Here is a link to a screen recording of me wayching a trailer in Safari and later watching a trailer download. In both cases the trailer could be expsnded for full screen viewing and then reduced back to the size of the original 720p player display screen. If you can't do this then you may have a player problem also.

    Why did apple make these changes when they worked perfectly the old way, I mean if it ain't broke don't fix it!
    Only Apple whould know for sure but my guess would be that other users may have requested the "Share" pop-up more. Makes no difference to me because I normally use the key shortcuts anyway.

  • Change icon size in dock

    I upgraded to OS X 10.9 from Mountain Lion. The icons on my dock (which I have on the right hand side of my screen) all became smaller with the upgrade. When I move the slider bar in dock settings (in system preferences) from small to large the icons do not change size as they did in Mountain Lion. Is this a bug in Mavericks or do I need to do something besides moving the slider bar from small to large? Thanks.

  • Change icon size in Lion Finder

    In Lion, is there any way to increase the size of photos in the icon view in Finder?  There used to be a slider allowing you to make the icons large enough to guess what they might be.  I have not yet found any way to resize these icons--the pinch gesture does not work on them.

  • Icon size for audio file insert on a PDF page.

    Acrobate X V10.1.9 Windows 7.
    I wish to insert an audio file on a pdf page. I select "multimedia", "sound". Get the window to select the file. Once selected I then find that I cannot size the icon that appears on the page (click to play). The two fields are grayed out. If I click "OK" it results in a very large "click to play" icon. I cannot resize the icon on the page..
    Does this function require C++? Have been getting an error message on PC startup about something being in error. I click OK and all seems to be working ok.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    You can crop it, but the size will not change to letter. However, after cropping, you can print with expand to fit page selected. If you like you can expand this to a new PDF using print, though not generally the recommended approach. Do you have any idea how it was reduced in the first place? If so, have you tried the reverse process?

  • Icon size in Lion?

    In Snow Leopard and prior incarnations I recall that I could easily change icon size in any window by either using the scroll wheel on the mouse OR by a small slider that was in the bottom right corner of the foremost window. Now in Lion there is no "bar" at the bottom of a window and no "slider" there to adjust icon size.
    I know you can do it through the right click Show View Options menu, but I'm looking for something more immediate, for those times when I'm looking at a overfull folder and I want to increase or, more likely, decrease, the size of the icons to get more on screen.
    Has this capability been removed in Lion?
    Pier
    PS Please forgive me if I've mis-remembered the specific mechanism for changing the size. I remember be able to do it and that doing it was trivial, but I may be off on the precise mechanism.

    In Finder, go to the View menu and select Show Status Bar. This brings things back to the way you remember them.
