Trackpad/Mouse not working on lower part of screen

I just got a refurbished Macbook Pro in the mail from Apple. It's the 17" 2.3ghz bad boy. Well right above the dock i can't click on anything. For example, if i have my apps folder open I can't click on the bottom row of apps. Only if i move the folder a tad up can I open the folder - I've attached a pic. I know this is very strange but true. I also can't click on any part of a web page, links, etc. if it is in this area. ***?!?!??!?!?! Someone please help! (note that in the pic VLC  is selected but I selected it before moving the folder down just to show exactly where this problem is occuring)

Wow. acidking. That's sort of working. Positioned on the left it seems like everything is clicking fine. What's that about?!?! I just got back to the apple store and they didn't know what it was and couldn't offer advice until lion is actually released (no developer releases).....acidking - if you have more input that'd be great. and I made the dock, it's not part of lion.

  • Touch Pad, mouse not working on lower 25% of screen

Have not seen this question, yet.   When on a web page, my double tap/left click does not work on about the lower 25% of the page.  The scroll arows work, but cannot click or type on the page if in the lower portion of the page.  After scrolling up to the middle of the page, then I can click a box or type info with no problem.  My drivers are up to date.   For example could not click on POST unless I scroll the box up an inch or so.
Using windows 7 and have all service packs & updated.

    Hi Rwischmann,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read that your HP Notebook and the touchscreen not working correctly. Here is a fix from Microsoft to resolve the Touchscreen.
he touchscreen shouldn't need recalibration, but if you or another user has recalibrate it, it may affect the performance of the touchscreen.
Here’s how to check or restore the factory default calibration using a keyboard or mouse:
Step 1: Press the Windows logo key Windows logo key + S to open Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search Search charm.)
Step 2:Type Control Panel, then use the arrow keys to highlight Control Panel, and press Enter.
    (Or, click Control Panel.)
Step 3:In Control Panel, use the arrow keys to highlight Hardware and Sound and press Enter.
    (Or, click Hardware and Sound.)
Step 4:Under Tablet PC Settings use the arrow keys to highlight Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input, and press Enter.
(Or, click Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.)
Step 5:Use the Tab key to select the Reset button, and press Enter.
    (Or, click Reset.)
If the Reset button is grayed out, your Surface touch calibration is still at factory settings and you can move to Solution 3.
Step 6:Use the Tab key to select Yes, press Enter, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
(Or, click Yes, and then follow the instructions on the screen.)
Step 7:After Surface removes recalibration data, test touch input again.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • My mac fall and now the trackpad is not working?

So today my macbook fall and the bottom left part of the trackpad is not working . I can still move the cursor, but if I click on the bottom left corner of the trackpad, I cannot tap the other trackpad part, it will not respond. To make it respond again, I need to click on the bottom right corner of the trackpad,  so I can tap the other trackpad parts. In short, I must TAP to click, I can't click on the bottom left corner. The secondary click (bottom right corner or two fingers tap) works fine.
There's no Apple Store in my city (or even country, I live in Indonesia), I just have an Apple Reseller on my city. What do I need to do?

I have no idea what the "freezer fix" is, nor why anyone would think temporary exposure to cold will somehow fix a hardware issue with a 100% solid state device.  Also, actually freezing your iPhone may very well itself cause damage.
If you dropped it and wifi immediately failed to work, the odds are you inflicted physical damage to it - perhaps the antennae connection internally.  You could try a simple reset and see if that helps, but if not, you need to take it into Apple for an evaluation and diagnosis.
If it has internal damage, since you dropped it, your warranty no longer applies.  Apple does not repair iOS devices, the merely swap them for factory refurbished units (and send your damaged one back to the manufacturer in China for refurbishment or recycling).  You would ahve to pay the out of warranty replacement fee (look on your country's Apple web site, under support for the iPhone for fees).

  • My trackpad is not working. Any help?

This morning my iMac alerted me to change my batteries, which I have done. However, the Trackpad is not working. It is not a problem with the Bluetooth because my keyboard is working just fine. After restarting the computer, I tried turning on the trackpad. The green light did not flash. The Bluetooth Assistance did turn on, however. I cannot access it for obvious reasons. Is there anyway I can set up the Bluetooth using my keyboard?
I have an old wireless mouse that i used on a computer I owned about four years ago. Will that work?

Use the tab key to navigate around the Bluetooth Assistance screen and the spacebar to enter/select.
If the tab key doesn't move to all controls then press Control FN F7   one times and try the tab key again.

  • Multi-touch trackpad is not working correctly anymore

My multi-touch trackpad is not working - it stops working after the first 10 seconds.
    It is since today.
After reboot it works for the first 10 seconds - then it is like it needs to have a few seconds for reaction.
Any idea for the permanent blocking of the cursor?

That's really bizarre! I've been experiencing the same problems. Today my three/four finger multitouch gestures stopped working altogether! Nothing seemed to resolve the problem (restart, shut down, etc).I did however follow your advice of creating a new user account and logging in to see if multitouch works...low and behold, it worked! I then logged off and signed back into my primary user account and multitouch continued to work! This must be a software issue (I'm guessing). I just deleted the temporary user account and everything seems to be working fine. I set up a Genius Bar appointment for tomorrow - I'll see if they have any further suggestions.
    Thanks!

  • Trackpad/point not working after keyboard removal

Earlier today I opened up my T510 for maintanence. In doing so, I removed the keyboard. After putting everything back together, the trackpoint/trackpad did not work. That includes the the **bleep**-mouse, trackpad, and all mouse buttons. The trackpad wasn't even removed, but I guess the data connection for that goes through the rest of the keyboard (?).
I took the keyboard out several times to make sure the connection was secure and inspect for physical damage. There was nothing.
The obvious thing to do here is replace the keyboard and desperately hope that the problem is not with the mobo connector, but the problem is sufficently strange (keyboard working but not mouse) thatI figured it would be worth posting here to see if anyone has any insight.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Solved.
As I mentioned in the last post, the trackpad connects to the mobo through the cable labled as a speaker wire in the manual (this can be easily seen after removing the keyboard bezel/trackpad from the machine). There is a small latch to hold this cable in place on the mobo end. I had mixed up the secured and unsecured states for this latch, which apparently broke the connection. Fixed that now and everything works.
It's probably worth explicitly pointing out that the **bleep**-mouse and mouse buttons on the keyboard do seem to be depenent on the trackpad being properly plugged in, despite having a seperate connection to the mobo.

  • Keyboard and trackpad are not working, Keyboard and trackpad are not working

I'm using MBP 15" late 2008 with Maverick OS. A couple of days ago, the internal keyboard and trackpad are not working at all. I did all the troubleshooting. I even reformat it; installing the snow leopard and re-installing the maverick but no good result. I believe there's no problem with my keyboard because i can still do PRAM on my lappy. Everytime i'm booting up my MBP, it always looking for bluetooth trackpad and keyboard. I have not used those bluetooth peripherals from day 1 i've started using MBP. I just read on the internet about the same problem has happened on MBP 13" retina and APPLE fixed it by updating the software. I wish Apple will also do something for the old MBP to fix the intermal keyboard and trackpad problem.

  • Macbook Air Late 2010 model, 10.6.7, 2.13 4g ram. Trackpad is not working properly and in sometimes not at all.

Macbook Air Late 2010 model, 10.6.7, 2.13 4g ram. Trackpad is not working properly and in sometimes not at all. Need suggestions to resolve this issue?  I have applied all Mac updates and still having problems with the trackpad.

The machine has a 1 year warranty, book an appointment with your local Apple Store or AASP to have it looked at.
You can try doing a SMC reset however I don't think that is the solution.
    SMC RESET
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
    • On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-• Option keys and the power button at the same time.
    • Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    • Release the keys.

  • My trackpad is not working in bootcamp 4.0 with windows 7

I just purchased an iMac and upgraded to Lion.  I then created a bootcamp partician and installed Windows 7 Professional.  Everything went smoothly until the trackpad driver was installed.  It failed.  The trackpad will not work.  I have tried to add it through the Bluetooth interface, but I get the eternal circle of **** from Microsoft...Not much of an improvement on the old hourglass of ****.  Anyway, please help get this driver updated for bootcamp so I can use my trackpad.

I think that has always been a problem at times. though surprised.
I would assume disabling and then reinstalling or along those lines.
Uninstall the driver Apple has or see if you can "rollback" in Device Manager.
Startup items from msconfig would be one place.
I assume you can do a safe boot / boot from Windows DVD and restore to point prior to this / if you have Snow Leopard use 3.0 thru 3.2 drivers instead

  • Magic mouse not working in mountain lion

magic mouse not working in mountain lion....What can I do?

Have you tried a fresh set of Alkaline Batteries?
Was  it ever paired to another divice?

  • Mouse not working in open applications

Mouse not working properly on menu bar in certain applications: Text Edit, Calendar, Notes.  You can hover over the  red X but it will not close the application.  Also unable to click on a text form and drop the cursor in to edit or copy text.  Can open preference box but uanable to navigate because mouse will not click.  Have to now use keyboard to open and close most applications.  Virus?  Setting that got magically turned on?  Have powered down, checked batteries, etc.

This is not due to a virus, or any other kind of malware.
First, is this a wired mouse or a Bluetooth mouse? If it's a Bluetooth mouse, try changing the batteries, even if they should be fully charged.
Have you tried a different mouse? If not, try that. Borrow one from a friend or buy a cheap wired mouse and see if that makes a difference.
If the problem affects all mice, try restarting in safe mode. Does the problem happen while in that mode? If not, and if it comes back when you restart normally, then you have some kind of third-party software that is causing the problem. The trick will be figuring out what it is.
