Trackpad moving to bottom left

Just got my 13 inch midline rMBP tonight and everythings amazing so far except this one thing.. In the few short hours I've been using it, I've noticed the cursor will jerk to the bottom left of the screen whenever I close a window. This has happened a couple times already and it is kind of annoying. Any of yall had this happen?

You are still under warranty.  Call Apple Care. Make sure you get a case number as all repairs have an additional 90 days of warranty.
#1 - You have 14 days from the date of purchase to return your computer with no questions asked.
#2 - You have 90 days of FREE phone tech support.
#3 - You have the standard one year Apple warranty.
#4 - If you've purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan, your warranty last for 3 years.   You can obtain AppleCare anytime up to the first year of the purchase of your computer.
Take FULL advantage of your warranty.  Posting on a message board should be done as a last resort and if you are out of warranty or Apple Care has expired.

  • New Macbook Pro w/ Retina: Random definitions pop-up from the bottom left of my screen when dictionary isn't even open

My OS is 10.9.3 and I've only had it for a month or so.
I'll be on Firefox or the desktop and without touching the mouse or keyboard or anything 'var' appears highlighted in yellow at the bottom left corner of my screen and a speech bubble will define it. The definition matches the one for 'var' in the built-in dictionary but I very rarely use it and have not had it open while this has happened.
It happens about once a week and the word defined has been different 1 or 2 times but mostly its just 'var'. I haven't seen anyone else with this problem and it seems very strange to me. The Macbook also freezes occasionally or has periods of very slow loading; something which never happened with my old Mac White. Do I have a virus or something? What can I do about this?
Any help would be much appreciated.

    This is not a virus.
I assume you're seeing something like this?
Is it appearing over the word "var" appearing in text that is on the screen, or is it floating around somewhere totally inappropriate, almost as if someone had grabbed it and moved it somewhere?
If it's actually appearing over real text, you may be accidentally triggering it. If you tap the trackpad with three fingers with the cursor over a word, that causes this dictionary pop-up to appear.
On the other hand, if it's appearing randomly in weird places, it may simply be a glitch in your system. Try restarting the computer. If it keeps coming back, it's probably caused by some third-party software installed on your system.

  • The footer is moving to the left and no longer centered. It is like it is no longer in the container

The footer is moving to the left and no longer centered. It is like it is no longer in the container. I don't see the container outline any longer. This same thing is happening in two different websites. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

  • Mobile site - content moved to the left

    Hello everyone!
I recently completed a site: www.threesistersgarden.org and i'm having a few issues when the site is being viewed on mobile. The first two pictures below are using Google Chrome browser (most recent 37.0.2062.117). As you can see by the right edge, all the content with the exception of the header is actually moved to the left. I'm not sure why this as the case as there is nothing there on the master or the actual page itself that should force all the content over. The background image at the top is not full screen nor is the image stretched to the edges. Please help!
I know the site address up here says tssite.gor..etc but that was just where i took the screenshot. Even if you visit www.threesistersgarden.org the issue is still there.
This screenshot was taken using the built in browser on my Galaxy S3. I have the most up to date firmware version. As you can see here, the header and footer is move over to the left.
This same screenshot was taken when i tried to reload the page again. This time the header and footer don't move but you can see part of the logo and navigation menu is cut off. The links can only be selected by clicking the very bottom (ex the orange area shown).
Thanks for your help everyone! If you need more information, please don't hesitate to ask!

    Hey Gaurav,
Yes the site is published. I believe I've figured it out and it had to do with the width of the page image extending beyond the blue lined border on the page.
    View this on mobile:
On this link, i've shrunk the image and fit it within the blue lined border. The footer shows up correctly on the mobile site and nothing is pushed to the left http://tssite.gorillaboston.com/the-farm.html
This is the live page where the image extends beyond the blue lined border in the muse file but not beyond the white border http://www.threesistersgarden.org/the-farm.html
I don't understand though why its moving all the content over to the left.

  • I have the computer on but it froze and in the bottom left corner is a circle type thing. Help

My computer is on, but is not moving from the beginning stage.  The bottom left corner has a square with a circle in it and a dotted logo in it.  How do I get it to unfreeze?  Thanks

Hello apottesmen: Do a hard start up. Just unplug the computer. Ounce it is off plug it back in and turn it back on. Computer will start up in safe mode option. Move arrow key to safe mode press enter. Run your anti virus scan while that is running go into c drive and find and remove(delete) any files that were installed with todays date. Usaully I found that a bad malware causes this issue. If you do not want to go through all your files then do a back date recovery to an earler time using recovery manager. After your scan has completed. You should be alright.

  • Random sound/noise coming from bottom left of thunderbolt display?

    Hey everyone,
I bought my Thunderbolt display in September 2012 and it worked well until a month ago. The screen started turning off, and USB and Ethernport ports would stop working from time to time. I took it into Apple and they gave me a new display after being unable to fix the problem.
But now I have a new issue. There is a sound that comes from the display at random times. It sounds close to, but not exactly, like the sound a Mac makes when moving an item to the trash can. It appears to be comming from the bottom left side of the display.
I've tried raising and lowering the volume, but that didn't have any effect (sounds the same no mater where the volume is). Even when the display volume is muted, or even sound output is sent to my USB DAC, the display still makes this noise. It can happen once every 30 seconds, or once every 30 minutes. There's no consistancy as to when it ocures.
I tried connecting my Fiance's MacBook air to my display thinking it may be my Macbook Pro, but the noise still occured.
I've tried connecting the display power to different outlets and different surge protectors, including a Sine Wave UPS, but neither helped.
This has been an issue with 2 brand new displays Apple gave me. I'm still using the second display but getting ready to return it for a third. But before I do, I wanted to post a question to see if someone had any other idea on what it could be and to see if this is something I could fix myself.
It appears to be hardware related, and from my testing it seems to be an issue with the current new Thunderbolt Displays.
    Anyone have any thoughts?

I have a similar issue. Both output and input sounds are setup to come out of a USB speaker system I have attched to the display USB ports. However when emptying the trash, the sound Macs make when doing so comes out of the display speakers. No options for that sound are available. Very odd. There does not seem to be a relation between the volume control either and the volume of the display, the display is loud, even when my mac system voulme is low.

  • Raised MacBook Pro Touchpad - Bottom Left

    Hello there!
So I returned from my month holiday in Thailand to open my macbook to see that the bottom left corner is raised and is stiff and doesn't respond to clicks, see picture here: http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/66538_10151248776229841_64962021_n .jpg
This is a mid2010 MacBook Pro, 15", I bought it 2 months ago second hand.
    What can I do?
    thanks, Alex!

    Hi HerbRoller420,
i would just liked to know how you fixed this issue , cause i seem to be in the exact situation.
I just came back from a 6 week Holiday today and when i got back, the trackpad was uneven, and raised at the bottom left corner. It looks exactly like the picture you posted. It's an early 2011 Macbook Pro , 13inches. And i bought it second-hand, mid last year (2013).
Please tell me how you solved your problem, cause i seem to be in a very very similar situation.
    Thanks, Imesha

  • Why does my cursor suddenly jump to the bottom left of my screen?

Using a Magic Trackpad with a Macbook 5.1 running Snow Leopard.
Occassionally I'll click and the cursor will suddenly jump to the bottom left of the screen. (Sometimes opening the App Store or flicking to Finder!)
    Anyone got any ideas?

I've had this problem since I bought it. I use a Mac Pro and the Magic Track Pad has become an $80 coaster. It's erratic and impossible to use for more than a few minutes. Good luck getting an answer, I've been looking for some time and then gave up.

  • Faint Sounds emanating from the bottom left of iMac

Any ideas?I went to the Mac store on Monday because there are some faint sounds emanating from the bottom left corner of the computer when I am moving about on the web - they suggested I bring the computer in for them to check - firstly, the sounds are not a big issue, secondly I am definitely keeping the new Mac and thirdly I have Applecare, so I won't need to be rushing to see them.

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that since you have AppleCare's protection plan and if you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

  • My Green iPhone 5c "creaks" in the bottom left hand corner, would this be up to get a replacement? And if so, would I be able to get that replacement without AppleCare?

Recently I have noticed that my green iPhone 5c makes a creaking noise when I press in the bottom left hand corner, or sometimes when I press the home button. I was wondering if this would be up for replacement, since I got this around Christmas of 2013. I do not have AppleCare either, so I was wondering if I would be able to get replacement without it as well.

None of us users here can tell you what Apple will do.  Apple will examine your phone and if a hardware defect is determined, your phone will be replaced free under warranty.

  • Why is there a slightly dark spot on the bottom left hand corner on my iPod Touch 3rd Gen after I cleaned it?

I was cleaning it and when I turn it on again there's this dark spot in the bottom left hand corner and I was like what? So I rebooted my device and it was still there. It still works but I'm afraid it might break. I've cleaned this many times before and this never happened! Please Help! *sobs*

Weird things happen at factories. After onboxing my new phone I took the plastic off and it had a small fingerprint on the side. I didn't even touch the phone.

  • When i select a pdf file for download in a webpage instead of automatically downloading the file and opening it using adobe acrobat I get a new blank window in the browser and it says done in the bottom left corner

when I select a pdf file within a webpage and click to download instead of getting the "download" window and the file automatically opening after download using adobe reader I get a blank webpage (in the same tab) and in the bottom left corner it says"done". No file is downloaded and if I click "back" I just return to the webpage containing the link.

Aha!  The properties for the plugin file nppdf32.dll for Adobe Reader indicate the file is for Adobe Acrobat.  This misidentification is then used by SeaMonkey as a label in the helper application list.
Adobe Reader 11.0.3.37:  nppdf32.dll has version 11.0.3.37.  This is the version in SeaMonkey's plugins folder.
    Adobe Acrobat 7.0.8.218:  nppdf32.dll has version 7.0.9.50.
As for having both Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat on the same PC, this generally works providing Reader is installed AFTER Acrobat.  Reader is freeware, and I want to keep it current.  Acrobat is purchaseware, and I cannot afford to keep buying  upgrades or newer versions.

When double-clicking on the thumbnail image of an iPhoto album, the full size image will often spontaneously zoom to only display the bottom left quarter of the entire photo when it displays in full size. I can easily work around this by clicking on the right arrow to go to the next full size image (which will display properly) and then click on the left arrow to go back to the initial affected image (which will also then display properly). It does not do this when full-sizing all images from their thumbnails - probably less than 10% of the time; but still often enough to be a pian. I cannot find anything in the preferences which would appear to cause or correct it.
It is a recent problem. I have been using iPhoto extensively for many years without any problems. I cannot recall for sure, but it may have started after my update to version 9.4.2.
Using an iMac with plenty of RAM, latest version of iPhoto 11 and Mountain Lion version 10.8.2.

What is the format of the PS photos and are there any alpha channels in them? You might try to re-edit them with PS, making some insignificant change and then saving.  See if the new edit will display properly.  Are you saving as jpgs with the Baseline format?
I may be preaching to the choir here but this may be of interest:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • I am trying to click on a 'zoom' button to enlarge a table or photo but nothing happens other than "javascript:void(null)" appearing in bottom left corner of Firefox window. How can I correct this?

There are a few tables and photos on the left that I need to zoom into but nothing happens. All I get is the text "javascript:void(null)" in the bottom left corner of my Firefox window.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

How do I get "Now Playing" Cover Artwork to show in bottom/left of screen?
This has mysteriously disappeared.  Thank you!

Click on the box symbol with an arrowhead at the bottom left of the iTunes window (it's the fourth symbol from the left) to show or hide the artwork window.  Click on the title bar of the artwork window to toggle between "Now playing" and "Selected item".
