Trackpad not registering hard clicks since 10.6.4 update

My trackpad cannot register "hard" clicks now after the 10.6.4 update. I can use the touch-sensitive trackpad functions without depressing the pad, but that limits my usage. For some apps, I want to press down the pad, instead of tapping it lightly. I have to press it down several times just to get it to respond. I think the culprit here is the 10.6.4 update or the update to the trackpad.
I recently erased my hard drive and installed 10.6.1. With 10.6.1, it was still working fine. The problem with the trackpad started when I updated to 10.6.4.
Any help out there?

Trackpad not registering my clicks

When I turn the computer on, the cursor will move around when I use my trackpad, but it won't click on anything. Sometimes, it's 'stuck' mid-action; for example, I turn it on and the pull-down menu under Finder on the menu bar is pulled down. As I move the cursor over the other menu items (without clicking), it pulls down the menus as I go over them, but won't let me click on anything. Sometimes, it's in drag and highlight mode. Moving the cursor over the icons on the dock, they don't magnify, and again, aren't clickable. I have to use the power button to turn it off, and I get the window that asks if I really want to shut down; I can't click on the 'shut down' button, but I can enter to select it and it then shuts down. I usually have to turn it on and then shut down this way 2-3 times, and then it finally works fine. And this doesn't happen every time I turn it on.
Took it to the Genius Bar, they couldn't recreate the problem, but they took the trackpad apart, "re-seated" it, however, it's still happening on an intermittent basis.
I've seen the past discussions regarding this issue that were posted in 2009 and 2010 and didn't see a resolution. Mine is the 2011 13" MacBook Pro that came out in March of 2011 - I bought it on the day the came out with it.
Any help is appreciated! This computer is only 4 months old, and has been treated very well, and I immediately update everytime I get an system or software update notification.

Just a little more information: I reset PRAM yesterday to see how long it would take for the "lost click" problem to recur. The reset cleared up the problem, but the issue recurred within a couple of hours of very intermittent use (that is, a few minutes of use, sleep, wake, a few minutes of use, repeat).

iPhone 5 will not pair with Uconnect since 8.1.1 update. How can I fix this?

Apple would "not" replace my Iphone 5 till went to dealer and had my bluetooth on u connect system updated. Advisor acted like I just come from the planet Mars when I told him what I needed. So a tech advisor went with to my vehicle and connect his 4S then went and about a minute flat "paired" my iphone 5! I seen him go through a step that even the manufacter's manual did not even mention to "pair" an iphone using bluetooth! I then asked what he had done and so he showed me to successfully start the "pairing" process the four digit code he used for the u connect and on the iphone screen came up displaying u connect and just to the right it says "not" paired. I had been there around twenty times myself! He then pressed the "not paired" display and when he did the keypad popped up and the advisor put in the "same" four didgit code that he originally had used to start the pairing in uconnect and then press the "complete or done" button on the iphone keypad after doing this the u connect displays "pairing process has begun" and less than a minute it did! All the phones including my 4GS I "never" had to do that and I had "never" had a pairing problem before so to me it must the new IOS 6 system!

Left and right side of screen does not register mouse clicks.

The left and right side of my screen (when maximized) does not register a mouse click. I would estimate about 10 to 15 pixels in (top to bottom) before a button will register a click.
If I work with in firefox not maximized everything works fine. As it stands I have had to add buttons to the left and right side of my Firefox navigation area to utilize the back and home button. I am also not able to use my scroll bar do to this situation with out connecting an external mouse.
Operating system: Windows 7 Professional (64bit)
Resolution 1280x800
Computer: HP TouchSmart tm2 (1070us series)
This laptop does have the touchpad type mouse, I do not think this is the problem though as it will work if firefox is not maximized.
Assistance with this would be appreciated. I Love firefox but this is to much of an annoyance to deal with continually.

Not sure if its ever overheated... I've never left it in a hot car if thats what you mean. Sometimes it gets very hot if I'm using EDGE for a while. I don't push hard which is why I don't think I caused it...
I will bring it in this weekend and see what they say.
I also think that the speakerphone sounds fuzzy and muffled a lot more than it did when I first bought it. So just another reason to bring it in.

I am trying to update my macbookpro which shows as needing 15 upgrades. when process is completed it asks to for a restart which takes place. once restarted it does not register any of the updates and repeats the process. Has anyone encountered this issue?

The 10.6.8 is listed in the list of updates that need to be installed, but the same issue keeps re-occuring - I click to do the updates, restart the computer as directed, but the update doesn't take place and it's still listed when I go to show the software updates! Am I doing something wrong?

Vibration not working at all since the 2.2 update

So is anyone else experiencing this here? I've read about it on other forums but didn't see a whole lot about it here. My phone won't vibrate at all since I performed the update. I've seen where other people are having the problem of their phone only vibrating and not ringing, but mine only rings and then does nothing when the ringer is off. I read what causes the vibration only, which makes me wonder if my problem could be related to this as well.

Hello BDawg866. I have read your post and understand your frustration for your device not vibrating after you received the 2.2 update. On your phone go to Settings > Sound > make sure Vibrate isn't on Never. You can also try to reset your device.
1. Hold Home Button and press power (continue to hold until you see the triangle with an asterisk like in step 2)
2. Screen will show a Android with a triangle with asterisk
3. Let Go of Home Button and Power
4. Select "reboot Phone"
5. Allow the reboot process to complete until phone completely powers up
***Performing a hard reset will remove ALLdata including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications. Only perform this reset if absolutely necessary.***

9. Sometimes phone hangs after reboot and will take a while but if no response after 5 - 10 minutes, pull the battery and reinsert. (Device usually starts fine after this)

Why have I lost all my audiobooks which were in my library but not on my iPad since the last iTunes update?

I Have recently allowed iTunes to update itself, and have only just gone into it, only to find that all the books and audiobooks that I hade in my library have disappeared !!!!! Including books and audiobooks I had purchased, both from iTunes and other sources.
Why has this happened? And how do I get them back?

Audiobooks are not avaiable for redownload from iTunes, though I suspect you may find they are still on your computer even if not currently listed in your library. This may help...
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Would you mind telling me which anti-virus package you use? It may be that it is disturbing iTunes when it tries to write out the fresh database, as it does after almost any activity with your library. I'm noticing more of this type of problem than usual and trying to see if there is any pattern. It may help to prevent a repeat of the problem if you look at the advanced options for your AV package and see if you can find a way to exclude the iTunes folder from any real-time scanning process.

MB467 Trackpad not registering clicks via press but touch only

Recently I discover that my trackpad is not working as it normally does.
The buttonless trackpad is now registering clicks badly. For 10 times I press on the glass, it register around 6. Touching to click is just fine.
This is embarrassing, when I try to drag, it stop halfway or doesn't register at all!
Anybody?

The trackpad physically moves, so it could be a faulty connection inside the machine. Certainly sounds like it. It's unlikely to be a software issue.
Your best step is to contact Apple to have the machine serviced, or take it into an Apple Store if you can.

Trackpad not responding to clicks

hi, i am using a macbook 13" alluminium. Lately( especially after lepoard 10.5.6 update ) the trackpad stops responding to tapping clicks( both single and multi touch ). I can't find any specific scenario for this. Most often it just stops responding after the left trackpad button is pressed. Sometimes though it just stops for no reason. The interesting thing is that this is not present in my windows OS(vista). Any help will b gr8ly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure that causes issues for some people but I know it's not the issue in my case. I have used this computer for months and only within the last week or two it starts happening. Also, even when placing my index finger flat at the bottom of the trackpad and deliberately clicking, it doesn't register. I can hear and feel the trackpad click, but nothing happens. Also note that I am temporarily hopefully using the tap to click option while I wait for a solution and it recognizes every click.

Mouse button not register all clicks

I have a problem with my mouse, sometimes when I click, it doesn't click. This usually happens in the dock, when I open up 2 programs, I have to click out of the dock before I can open another program, otherwise it won't recognize the click. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes! I just started having the same problem. The same thing happens in other places too - I have to click out of a program or window then click back in so it will register. Also, sometimes it seems to think I'm double-clicking when I'm not. At first I thought it was my mouse so I plugged in another one but it still happens. I haven't changed any of the mouse settings. I hope someone out there can help us, it can get pretty annoying and slow down a lot of tasks.

Iphone and 3 ipods not registering with iTunes since upgrading to version 10.4!

Good day and thanks for your help. AppleCare has been unable to solve or identify my problem. Since upgrading to version 10.4 I am unable to have my iphone or ipods be recognized in iTunes. I have deleted and reloaded iTunes four times, as instructed by my AppleCare tech. I still cannot see any devices in iTunes. I am running a Dell Latitude D620 with XP, Service Pack 3. My device manager shows all USB ports are active and working properly. I have tried multiple Apple sync cables. My phone and cable work fine on my wife's laptop, so I do not believe it is a hardware issue with the cable or phone.
I heard a rumor that I need USB 2.0 ports for version 10.4. I believe my ports are version 1. Is this true? If so, how can I find and reinstall iTunes version 10.3.

IPhone 4S not receiving some SMS since 5.0.1 update

Hello,
I've bought an iPhone 4S from Telus back in October. At the beginning, I was having a lot of trouble receiving SMS but after a while the problem disappeared. However, since I updated the phone to 5.0.1, the problem is back. I can have a conversation without any problems and then it will just stop for hours because I never received an answer, when the person actually sent the message seconds after my last one.
Any ideas? Do you believe the problem is related to Telus or the iPhone?

Let's do a little recap:
- Do not detect in iTunes/XCode on my iMac Mid-2010 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (Both 4 and 4S)
- Do not charge when plugged-in on my iMac Mid-2010 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (Both 4 and 4S)
- Soft Reset from the phone does not work (Only tried on iPhone 4)
- Hard-Reset from the phone does not work (Only tried on iPhone 4)
- DFU Mode will not trigger the iTunes. (Only tried on iPhone 4)
Perhaps it is not widespread, but it is annoying. Especially when the iPhone 4 is my work phone and I need it to deploy/test my App before submitting to the App Store!

Adobe PDF Printer not working in Illustrator since 9.3.2 update.

Greetings all,
Since updating Acrobat Pro to 9.3.2 I've not been able to print to PDF from Illustrator using the Adobe PDF Printer (Adobe PDF 9.0 in my printer list).
I've tried several restarts and have also removed the printer and run the Repair Acrobat Installation from the Help menu of Acrobat to reinstall the printer, but problem remains.
I've also tried printing from other programs (namely Thunderbird, Firefox and Photoshop) and the printer has worked fine so I suspect this my be isolated to Illustrator.
No error messages are given and the Illustrator print jobs are listed as Completed in the printer job list but no files are created.
I've got a work-around, printing to Postscript file then converting to PDF in Distiller and it seems to be working fine, but not my ideal solution.
I've checked for updates in Illustrator but none are available.
System details:
OS X 10.5.8 (MacBook Pro 15", around 2.5yrs old)
Adobe Creative Suite CS 3, Acrobat Pro 9.3.2, Illustrator 13.0.2
Any ideas?

I've never liked the Save As PDF option in Illustrator. Though the quality is excellent, in my experience it creates bloated PDFs that are often too big to email.
Take for example the file that prompted my original post. If I print to PDF (or in this case use my workaround, creating a PS file, then converting to PDF in Distiller) using my Hi Rez preset, the final PDF is 648K. If I Save As PDF using the same preset, the final file is 5.5Mb! A ridiculous size for a CMYK flyer measuring just 134x70mm.
The reason for the size increase is obvious when the big pdf is opened in Illustrator: all the bits and pieces outside the artboard and on hidden layers are all preserved. In reality, it's just the same as the original Illustrator file seeing as Illustrator's native AI format is pretty much a pdf in all but name only.
Do you know of a way to use the Save As PDF command that eliminates the unwanted material and gets the file size down? That would really make my day!
What I wish for is an Export To PDF command as found in InDesign. That seems to give the best of both worlds.

I've noticed a problem since updating from 4.2.1 to 4.3.2 and subsequently 4.3.3, initially I thought it was a network related issue, but have now had confirmed by my provider (Vodafone UK) that they do not know of any problems ...
I travel a lot, often on a train for 3-4 hours a day, often the same routes. Previously I used to be able to maintain a connection for *most* of the journey, the signal would obviously fluctuate between very good and quite poor as I was passed from cell to cell, but would typically go from good, to ok, to poor, I'd then be handed over to the next cell, and go from poor, to ok, to good again as I got closer to the transmitter, I'd usually be able to hold a telephone call seamlessly during this process.
Now the phone seems to try to hold on to the current cell for as long as possible, so I go from good, to ok, to poor, to very poor, to no signal at all (at which point any call I'm on obviously drops out), then *bamn* only now do I get handed to the next cell (which I'm obviously now much closer to that I used to get handed to it) where I suddenly get a good signal again.
Basically instead of signal strength going 4, 3, 2, 2, 3, 4 it now goes 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, 4
I had a very similar issue with an old Nokia phone I had a few years back and after several replacements from Nokia UK, they finally admitted it was a fundemental hardware design problem and replaced my phone with a completely different model. Obviously it is not a hardware issue on my iPhone 4, as I didn't have any issues on previous software versions.
I've tried asking in a local Apple Store, but the replies I get prove that the guys in there obviously know how to add music and which apps are 'cool', but very little about the fundemental working of cellular telecomms, and they keep insisting that IOS version 4.3.3 must be better than 4.2.1 at everything because it is newer?!
