Trackpad sensitivity - MacBook Pro

Hi. I just purchased a new MacBook Pro 13' and really like it. One issue, however, is that I find that the touchpad is not as sensitive to tapping as my former Powerbook G4 touchpad. I seem to have to tap more than once to get the pad to recognize my "tap." Are there any others who have experienced this problem?
Thanks,
Richard

  • Problem with Magic TrackPad and Macbook Pro

I just bought the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Magic TrackPad for my home desktop setup. I connect my Macbook Pro 13" (from august 2010) to a Dell U2410 screen.
Everything works perfectly for a while, but then the cursor starts jumping around on the screen when I use the Magic TrackPad. Now here comes the weird thing, if I open the lid on the Macbook just a few inches the jumping stops completely and the Magic TrackPad works perfectly again.
I have tried googling a bit and browsed these forums also - no luck finding a solution.
I have also tried connecting a USB mouse to the Macbook when the cursor started to jump around - no problem with the USB mouse. I have also tried a different Magic TrackPad that my friend also just have bought for his setup - same problem after a short time.
Everything is updated to the latest software and firmware.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I have the same problem with a Trackpad paired with a new Mac Mini just purchased in September. After a while, my trackpad also starts to exhibit behavior similar to those described by Hecro. The trackpad cursor feels frozen, or else it jumps around, often trying to stay away from or jump over any hyperlink in either text or graphic form on the page I am viewing.
I find that if I pick up the trackpad and hold it above my palm between my thumb on one side and my fingers on the other side — so there is no pressure on the clicking feet on the bottom of the trackpad — a "jumping" trackpad instantly becomes a "stable" trackpad. Put it back down on a surface and it starts jumping again.
Also, when it starts jumping or skipping, I also find that if I use one finger and bear down hard on the trackpad, it resumes being responsive.
I am filing a comment about this on Apple's feedback forum at www.apple.com/feedback at the advice of a Genius at the Apple Store at Cambridgeside in Cambridge, Massachusetts USA.

  • Keyboard and trackpad freeze-MacBook pro

Working along and trackpad and mouse just freeze. I thought the whole computer froze until I pressed the power button and the screen changed to confirm if I wanted to shutdown. At that point I plugged in a external USB mouse and I could now move my mouse pointer. Still no trackpad or keyboard. To recover I saved my work and restarted. Any ideas? I'm using a 13 inch mid 2010.

    Good Afternoon,
Yesterday afternoon, I turned on my MacBook Pro and a few seconds after bootup the trackpad became unresponsive, I then tried to perform a restart with the aid of the keyboard however, I then, noticed that my MBP keyboard also became unresponsive. I then tried to turn off the system through the power button and a dialog of OSX came up asking me to Restart, Sleep, and/or Shutdown the computer, meaning that the OS was somewhat responsive. Since I could not select any of the options via keyboard or trackpad I decided to close the lid of my MacBook Pro. Interestly, when I reopened the lid I has to push the power button and the computer went over a new start up sequence and the computer has behaved normally thereafter. However, I should note that this is the second time that my MBP freezes on me in the fashion. What should I do? Is this a common error in MacBook Pros?
    My MacBook Pro model is a 15" Core i5 2.53ghz Mid-2010 with 500GB HDD, 4GB of Ram, and a Nvidia 330m 256mb grapichs card.

  • Can't connect Apple Wireless Trackpad to MacBook Pro

I have a 15" MacBook Pro that is about 6 months old running Lion. I have a Magic Mouse and a Wireless Trackpad. I always use the track pad. I have the same setup at home as at work. Yesterday I worked from home, today I'm back at work, but now my Trackpad at work won't connect. My magic mouse connects just fine. I replaced the batteries and that didn't help. I got another wireless trackpad off of someone else's desk and it won't connect either. So it seems to be just an issue with the Trackpad as my Magic Mouse works fine. But I prefer the trackpad because the magic mouse flares up my RSI.

Nevermind. I fiddled & fiddled an it finally connecting. It seemed to work when I was in the wireless trackpad connection screen, while searching for the device I would hold the button on my trackpad until the light turned off, then pressed it once again. It then pulled up the name of my trackpad. I selected the name of the trackpad and while it was trying to connect I did the same thing - hold the button down until the light turned off, then clicked it once immediately after.
Now I see why they call it a magic trackpad. It requires magic to get it to connect.

  • Keyboard and trackpad in macbook pro doesn´t work

My keyboard and trackpad doesn´t work. I have a macbook pro 17" from 2008, and i upgraded the OS to Snow Leopard. I even tried with Lion, because i read somewhere that this could solve the problem, but so far, nothibg.
    Help!!

I do have a bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse...This means i can work.
But the problem is i need to work out of home, and i don´t want to carry all those things everytime i have to go out.
    And you´re right, i don´t have warranty...
I´m sure i didn´t drop liquids over it. And although it did dropped once when it was new, nearly 4 years ago, it worked just fine for 3 years. About 8 months ago, keyboard and trackpad started to fail, until they just died.
I tried cleaning it and reinstalling OS, but nothing so far.
    Help!

  • Using magic trackpad affect macbook pro retina's battery life?

Hi, I just got new macbook pro 15 with retina. I was not sure how much it affects on macbook's battery while using the Magic Trackpad or Magic mouse. If it affects indeed then how much...thanks...

You are using Bluetooth if you have got a Magic Trackpad, so it affects the battery. However, it's not a big difference respecting to using the built-in trackpad or a USB mouse, so I wouldn't worry

    Gracias

Try cleaning it very thoroughly.  Sometimes this will solve the problem.
The Macbook Pro battery resides under the trackpad.  Some times the battery will expand and interfere with the trackpad.  Open the Macbook and check the battery.
It could be that there is a mechanical problem with the trackpad.  Have it checked at a repair facility.
    Ciao.

For me, the keyboard and trackpad sometimes just don't work and when that happens, the bluetooth sign seems to be different (as attached here).
Does someone know how to solve it?

  • How much to cost for replace a hard drive and trackpad for MacBook Pro retina 15

I Am in Japan right now, and some how my laptop was broken. Is the price in Japan similar to United State?

Check the iFixit.com and Powerbookmedic.com web sites for trackpad parts and prices (plus instructions).  HDD prices can be found from web sites of numerous vendors.

  • Built-in Trackpad on MacBook Pro hard to press?

Trackpad has been harder and harder to press as time goes on, now its not even clickable at all. What could be the cause & what would be a viable solution? Please help.

If you have an older MBP it could be the battery that is underneath it.  Open the MBP and examine if the battery has expanded which they do occasionally.
You also might have dirt and debris embedded around the edges of the trackapd.
If there is no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.

  • Trackpad of MacBook Pro mid 2009 does not respond to the first click/tap

Have the following problem and wasn't able to find any sollution here somewhere
if I click on a link or choose a checkbox or do anything by clicking it does not work with the first click/tap and I have all settings right.
a PRAM reset had no effect on that problem.
so I still have to click/tap several times to access a menu, a safari-tab, or anything else…

    thank you.
still I am not sure if it really solved my problem, but it looks very good.
was a bit irritated in the beginning, because I got no feadback if I had done the SMC reset right.
If the problem will be back too soon, I will continue this discussion.

Well for me theres 2 types of click,
    1. one when u click and sounds (this one is pressing harder the trackpad)
    2. another is softer when just need to put ur finger over the trackpad.
i use more the second one, thats why i say i rarely use the first one.

  • Pen in a MacBook Pro

Anyone knows if exists a special pen (like pen Wacom tablets) capable runs over trackpad of MacBook Pro?
I'm very interested in a product of this type. I would like can use a level pressure pen with a track pad area.
If this not exists, I don't know if Apple is interesed in develop this device, or contact with Wacom or another manufacturer to develop this product solution.
What's yours opinion about to have a pen for use directly with multitouch trackpad of Macbooks?

    How would pressure sensitivity work?
    Maybe something like this?
