Trackpad trouble since 10.9.3

I'm experiencing a very unreliable trackpad since upgrading to 10.9.3. Especially a 3-finger swipe to get from one desktop to another will immediately hang the whole trackpad, it will become completely unresponsive. When I use a USB mouse to be able to move again, at some point it will work again, but there is no message or so (connected/reconnected/disconnected)
Do other people experience this?

I am having a similar problem. My 3-finger swipe used to go back to the previous page in my web browser. It no longer does. Very frustrating.

I don't think that is normal behavior. The long press is possibly causing the system to force power down, which would then allow it to power back up.
Just to make sure, all drivers are up-to-date? Are there pending BIOS updates? If so, you'll want to make sure it can restart properly before applying the BIOS update
Try an Ubuntu LiveUSB or LiveCD to rule out software issues.
If that doesn't work, try taking out the battery and AC, pressing the power button ten times, then holding it for ten. This is usually the remedy for another issue, but try it anyway.
If that doesn't work, then try resetting the BIOS settings. Then try unplugging the CMOS battery overnight. Otherwise, might have to call for warranty.

I downloaded firefox update had nothing but troubles since comp crashing how do i send my bookmarks from firefox to ie on this system

i downloaded firefox update, had nothing but troubles since, computer crashing when i try to open, or cursor lag for a long time ie. i try to move to do something it has to think about for 30 seconds to having to pushing reset to get anthing hapening
but still freezes up i put my comp into a very good repair store cost me $119 to only to find no problem with computer, they had it running ,burning , doing everything properly, but they were using ie, as soon as i stoped that and went to firefox, back to lag etc. com bluescreen then crashing when i got home twice so far tried using previous version in system same problem, how do i send my bookmarks from firefox to ie on this system, so i can completely uninstall then reistall a fresh earlier version

I have to agree, fixing something that was working fine and replacing it with the new crap has led me to switch browsers.BIG FAIL MOZILLA

Turn off updating to keep your good working version or you will be forced to use the new version that is missing some well used features.

When you say iTunes 10 do you mean 10.5.3. If not, upgrade to it.
If trying different USB ports, even a number of times, does not solve your problem then look at this link. If you are not using Windows then search for something comparable.

Trackpad problems since 10.6.4

hi im having major trackpad problems since ive updated.
its become highly unresponsive to clicking and when i try to copy and paste, it no longer does this after the initial highlight ie. once ive made a selection and stop moving cursor, without unclicking/releasing trackpad, i can no longer move the highlighted section. it also does this when i move an app around onscreen, once i stop moving the cursor i no longer have the item clicked.
its making me actually hate my macbook pro, which ive only had for 3 months. anyone got any suggestons on a fix?

Yikes ... I haven't run into these problems with my MBP, at least not yet, but they do seem to be somewhat common complaints. There is a similar thread:

But really, the best advice, especially for a new unit, is to go have it looked at at the Mac Store. They will know immediately if there's a defect or problem, and they're not going to recommend part replacement or other repairs just for the heck of it, only if there's a real problem that can be addressed via repair.

Trackpad erratic since upgrade

Hello,
Soon after I upgraded my mid-2010 macbook pro to Mavericks, the trakcpad started acting erratically. The cursor follows my commands for some time, but after the computer receives some load, it starts to drift towards either right or left of the screen. The direction in which the cursor drifts changes, but once it happens, it is consistent. Also, unintended clicks happen. It is as if the computational load causes the trackpad to think that there is constant touch in one direction.
The battery was old and system report suggested it was in poor health. But same was the case since 5 months before I upgraded to Mavericks (more than a month ago). Nevertheless, I have replaced the battery after reading about swollen battries pressing against trackpad and reset the SMC. I use a bluetooth trackpad for time being.
Can a swollen battery cause long lasting damage to trackpad?
Could this be related to how new software/driver in the Mavericks detects touch and clicks?

Trackpad sensitivity since upgrade

Ever since up upgraded to lion, my trackpad is ultra sensitive. I'll have my thumb hovering over the pad while scrolling around or circling on a page, and it will think i've tapped it. I've checked all my settings and can't find anywhere that changes this. Anyone else have these issues? It's a bit irritating to be reading something and all of a sudden have another window open, or a link activated.

recently my trackpad started acting up: two-finger scrolling and two- and three-finger tapping are not being detected properly. i recorded some of this in a video:

though it cannot be seen in this demo, general use of the cursor is also a little haphazard--it occasionally jumps around the screen all willy nilly, see.
i've been digging around these forums and beyond getting the trackpad replaced, i'm not having any luck finding a solution. are there any other tips?
13" Macbook Pro 2011 with OS 10.7.2

My Macbook Pro started to experience the very same erratic behaviour. At first I noticed that it would happen if the MBP was on a flat tabletop surface. If I placed the MBP on my lap, the magic pad seemed to operate properly. It was very consistent. Since this is a capacitative surface, I tried an experiment. I placed the MBP on a tabletop surface where it's exhibited the malfunction. Then I used my other hand on the flat surface areas near the magic pad while using my right hand to manipulate the cursor. It appears that touching the casing with my other hand seemed to calm down the erratic behaviour. When I used only one hand, the erratic behaviour returned.
I'd searched several forums to no avail. No one seemed to have a solution or an explanation so I just lived with it.
However, by coincidence, I was experiencing what I believed was an unrelated issue. One of my USB ports was no longer responding to devices plugged into that port. While searching for a solution for the USB port, I stumbled across a post where the user suggested resetting the SMC. I'd never heard of that before this post. In his post, he mentioned that erratic Magic Pad behaviour could also be caused by the SMC.
He instructed to
1. Attach the MagSafe power cord
2. Power off the MacBook Pro
3. Press the L-Shift/Control/Option and Power button at the same time and hold.
4. Release them all at the same time
5. Then power on the MacBook Pro
Not only did my USB regain functionality, but it appears to have resolved my erratic Magic Pad behaviour. It now operates as it had done when new.
For reference, I'm using a MacBook Pro 13" with the Intel I3 processor and Lion.
I hope that helps somebody else as it did for me.

It was that iTunes update a few days ago that has made everything crazy. I have had trouble with several applications since.
DRAG OUT ITUNES of your HD and leave it on your desktop for the time being.
Works fine now.

Twist s230u trackpad haywire since update to Windows 10

My trackpad and trackpoint worked fine under Windows 8.1, but since I updated to Windows 10 they have gone haywire. The cursor moves in the opposite direction from the movement on the trackpad or trackpoint. If I move my finger right on the trackpad, the cursor on the display moves left. If I move my finger up, the cursor moves down. Sometimes the cursor moves in the correct direction, but then it goes to the opposite direction after a single tap. I have tried two different driver versions for the Synaptics Thinkpad Ultranav driver for Windows 10 - 19.0.16.0 (driver date 7/9/2015), and 19.0.12.61 (this version is currently available for download on the Lenovo s230u driver download page). The 19.0.12.61 is the lower version number but it is listed as dated 7/30/2015. I have had the problem described above with both versions. I ran "Update Driver" from Device Manager and 19.0.16.0 was installed over 19.0.12.61. I tried deleting the Synaptics driver altogther, and rebooted - after i reinstalled a driver the problem came back. Has anybody else had this problem since upgrading to Windows 10? Has anybody found a fix?

I have had the same problem with my 12-inch 1.5GHz powerbook. However in my case it just started happening out of the blue -- the trackpad doesn't work at all, and occasionally I'll check again and it will work (otherwise, just using a USB mouse).
I was running OS X 10.4.5 when this occurred and I thought an upgrade to 10.4.6 would help, but it didn't. I am wary of upgrade to newest version of OS X because I have firewire peripherals that take time to update their drivers to work with Mac OS updates, but I will update to 10.4.7 if I absolutely have to.
I will try repairing permissions, but I doubt that will help. I've already reset the PMU (first time for me on this powerbook -- holding down 3 buttons and pressing and releasing power button -- there's no confirmation I can see that PMU was reset). Is there a way to tell PMU was successfully reset?

Trouble sinc'ing with outlook since software update

Since updating the software on my iphone4 (ios 5.0.1) I am having a problem with the sync. Anything added to the calendar does not transfer between outlook and the iphone, even though the calendar is ticked in the "options to sync" on the phone.
Any suggestions how to resolve please.

I have spent the last several weeks on the phone with an Apple Technician, and Apple Business Solutions person, and our IT folks here. I cannot get Outlook 2007 calendar to display correctly--some items show and others do not. It is impossible to create an appointment on my iPhone 4S and have it show on my Outlook calendar. It just disappears and does not show on the phone, either. After years of having an iPhone, I will most likely take it back and get something that works. I can't afford to spend this much time on a technical problem that Apple should have had working before they released ios 5.

I had a fully charged fifth gen iPod touch. Had nothing but trouble since updating to iOS8. This morning the iPod was fully charged. Turned it off-on standby. Came back and it won't turn on. Tried all troubleshooting tricks. Anyone ideas?

Came back only 10 minutes later, and it would not turn on. Tried all the obvious solutions, even switched out the lightening cord. Apple support could not help, and their only solution is to call. Has anyone else had this problem? Any other solutions other than obvious ones? iTunes no longer even recognizes the iPod. Thank everyone!

About the only other thing to try is let the battery drain, then attempt to charge for 30 minutes and attempt to turn on, otherwise try another cable, and/or different computer, if still no joy most likely dealing with a hardware issue, schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar at your local Apple store and have your iPod evaluated. Appmenu-qt causeing trouble since KDE 4.9.5

Hey guys,
I just updated to KDE 4.9.5 just to discover that having appmenu-qt installed (I don't use it) makes menu bars go to nirvana. I simply uninstalled the package and the menu bars appeared again. Someone else experiencing the same issue?
The problem is, at the moment I don't need/want appmenu, but it will definetly become interesting in KDE 4.10 when KWin's decorations will finally be able to use it, it would be nice to not cause trouble when not even used.

Since downloading the 10.4.4 software update yesterday, my pages are loading slower on Firefox and Explorer, with Safari sometimes not finding pages at all. Safari is my main browser, but three times, at startup, it couldn't even find the home page (google). I thought it was my connection, but then, firing up either of the other two browsers, Firefox or Explorer, it went immediately to google, no problem, no wait.
Then it was slower on all three browsers when going beyond the home page. Anyone else experiencing this, and do you think it's connected to the upgrade?
