Trackpad USB Mouse not working in windows xp safe mode

I can't access my windows side, after fixing a series of problems with the windows recovery console. I can only access my windows login screen through safe mode. However, now my trackpad and USB(corded) mouse won't work, to login and finish fixing my windows xp pro side. The only advise I have been finding is to use a ps/2 connector for the mouse to work (don,t have one) or access the bios to enable the USB port (don't have bios). So I'm kind of stumped. Is there a way to enable a USB mouse to work in safe mode with windows recovery console or on the mac side or somehow enable the trackpad? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Ok, will get a USB mouse and keyboard, and try again.
I do have Kaspersky installed, but it's a very annoying spyware by Baidu (the search engine in China) where the registry keys just couldn't be deleted under the Normal mode ....
Ok then, no offence.
In any case, thanks for the advice!
Hope it helps and good luck

  • USB mouse not working in Windows 8

I have Win8 64-bit OS. A couple of days back the USB mouse stopped working without any reason. The mouse works on other systems and there is nothing wrong with the hardware.
I found a couple of posts suggesting uninstalling the drivers or doing a system restore to get it to work again.
None of these work. I recently upgraded to Win 8.1 thinking that maybe the upgrade will help. It had no effect.
Can someone suggest any other known method ?

    Hi,
The USB device issue can be always caused by driver or BIOS XHCI mode.
Besides above suggestions, you can also try to roll back the USB driver to an older version to see if we can get this issue fixed.
Please feel free to try it and let me know the result. If the reply is helpful, please remember to mark it as answer which can benefit our Community members.
Otherwise, please unpropose them and provide detailed information about current status.
We will wait for several days, if there is no response on this thread we consider that you got what you want or your issue has been resolved, then mark this case as answered. Thanks for your understanding.

  • Since I upgraded Windows Vista to Windows 7 iTunes only works in Windows 7 "Safe Mode".

Since I upgraded Windows Vista to Windows 7 iTunes only works in Windows 7 "Safe Mode". it will not run in the normal mode. (It ran properly in Vista)  I spent several hours with the Microsoft Technician going through the "1717 suggestions, but to no avail.  On my own, I tried iTunes in Windows 7 "Safe Mode" and was successful!  It ran like a charm.  Unfortunately, I can't run iTunes properly in "Safe Mode"  I have not tried moving one set of the files yet.  But if iTunes works in Safe Mode, do I need to relocate anything or do I need to find what is causing the conflict between Windows 7 and iTunes?

    Which Satellite A205?
Which Windows 7 (64-bit)? What about the other laptop?
Which printer model, version, and so forth?

  • USB Mouse not work with Mac OS 10.6

I have a USB mouse can work with Mac OS 10.4 but cannot with Mac OS 10.6. Noticed the different is the USB mouse motion reporting is 12-bit instead of 8-bit. It can definitely work on Windows with standard USB HID driver. I wonder if the OS 10.6 is having a different USB HID driver specification which is not posted in USB-IF.

    Ask the Vendor.

  • USB ports not working in Windows-7 on MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013 after Bootcamp installation

    1) INSTALLATION
Using Bootcamp (v. 5.1.1, OS X Mavericks) in combination with an original Microsoft installation DVD disc using an external optical CD/DVD drive. Note, the installation is NOT from an ISO image. In the Bootcamp setup window only the lower two of the three setup options are clicked, namely a) to download Windows-7 drivers to a USB stick, and b) to partition the harddrive and then to install Windows.
    2) PROBLEM
After the initial Windows-7 installation no devices attached to the USB ports can be found under Windows-7. The ports are dead. Also the WLAN did not work, so no internet connection was possible.
    3) CAUSE
The problem is caused when you use a USB 3.0 stick as destination for the Bootcamp driver downloads. It seems that Windows-7 cannot recognize the USB 3.0 stick properly during the Bootcamp/Windows installation process, thus failing to do perform a proper installation of the Windows-7 drivers.
    4) SOLUTION
Use a USB 2.0 stick and everything will work perfectly.
    Follow these steps in order:
    1) Connect your external DVD drive to a USB port and insert the Windows installation disc
    2) Start the Bootcamp utility
    3) In Bootcamp, remove the failed Windows-7 installation and partition
    4) In Bootcamp, redo the entire Bootcamp process, but this time using a USB 2.0 stick
    5) Follow all further steps in Bootcamp and later in the Windows-7 installation process
    6) At the end of the installation procedures you will be asked to confirm the installation of all Bootcamp/Windows drivers.
    7) Bootcamp installs all the drivers and your Windows-7 installation will work perfectly.

Ok, where is this Intel driver? There is no such thing "program manager" so I am guessing you mean the Programs and features control panel, but on my machine that whole window is blank after a clean install. I still cannot get the USB ports to activate. Two fresh installs and several different USB sticks later and no luck.  Should I just give up and go to Windows 8.1?  I really need Windows 7 to work if at all possible. Other devices shows one USB controller without driver software so I suppose that's the culprit. There are other USB devices installed under the USB section of Device Manager, but they apparently have nothing to do with the USB ports themselves, just devices like the trackpad etc.  I've spent two hours on this so far and it's getting out of control.  Why doesn't this work with generic USB drivers?

  • USB mouse not recognized in windows 8.1 - tried all no help

    Hi,
I am having this issue for 2 weeks now. Plugging the muse to USB port didn't make any difference to system, it hasn't been seen at all (noting in dev manager, no beep etc). I was connecting same mouse using PS/2 adapter and worked well.
After doing UEFI bios update and installing latest drivers for motherboard mouse is shown in device manager as "Not Recognized" Code 43. I did try to use different USB mouse, same story, playing with drivers, deleting/uninstalling in Device Manager
didn't make any change. Deleted all USB devices/Hubs used generic drivers suggested by windows didn't change anything as well. Windows Troubleshooter see problem - but don't give options to fix it. System is up to date with windows updates, no new software
was installed. Changed as well Power settings regards to USB ports but no help
A lot of people suggest to go to UEFI Bios and changing USB settings of xHCI to disabled/enabled/auto - well none of this worked for me.
Anyone has any other clue which is worth to try?
Seen somewhere that locating USB port VID/PID (from dev manager) then Find it in Registry and edit "Power Settings" fix problem for some - can see VID/PID for this mouse in registry - but no editable settings there.
    Thank you in advance
    Marcin

    Hello Marcin,
Can you use other devices normally like USB keyboard and USB driver?
If you can, please contact the manufacturer and check if there are hardware issues.
About the error code 43 in device manager, please take a look at the following KB.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123/en-us
One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner.
If you have already run the Troubleshooting Wizard, you might want to check the hardware documentation for more information about diagnosing the problem.
When you try the Windows troubleshooter, what problem do you see?

  • MACBOOK USB device not working in WIndows XP

My MACBOOK USB devices is working fine in leopard OS(10.5.1) but in windows XP professional the USB Devices is not working after I did dual boot. Please help how would I fix the problem.
    Thanks
    Mike

Please try the above procedure first as mentioned by SilentFlyer. If that does not work then highlight My Computer and Right Click on mouse. On the menu that pops up Choose Properties. Click on the Hardware tab and then Device Manager. Scroll all the way down to Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Click on the little plus sign to the left to open the sub-components. Does any one of them have a yellow exclamaation mark? That indicates that something is not functional. Please let us know what you see there.

  • VN7-791G all bluetooth devices like Logitech mouse not working after Windows 10 upgrade

After upgrading to Windows 10 on my 2 month old Acer VN7-791G, my Logitech bluetooth mouse could not pair, my bluetooth speakers could not pair and neither could by Nexus 7.  All these devices were working fine on Win 8.1 earlier. Under Device Manager, only the generic Windows Bluetooth, Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and LE Enumerator drivers were showing (dated  21/6/2006).  Under Network adapters, the driver showing was the Qualcomm Atheros QCA64x4 ver 10.0.0.62 dated 18/5/2015. I checked that this model is indeed compatible under ACER's website for Windows 10.  I have also been checking the ACER drivers for Win 10 for this model but there are no new updated ones for Bluetooth. I downloaded the Win 8.1 ones and installed them but they still would not work (the Microsoft ones are still showing under Device Manager). I had to actually downgrade back to 8.1 a few days ago due to this issue but thought I would try to update to Windows 10 again hoping it would work but still no luck.  I had googled but can't seem to find a solution and suspect that I need an updated bluetooth driver for Windows 10 from Acer or Broadcom.  The Atheros website do not have any Windows 10 bluetooth drivers as well. I may have to downgrade again and try again in a few months time unless someone could please point me in the right direction. Thank you.

Yay! Success at last!  Well, I had to resort to drastic measures which I was dreading and delaying. Basically, I rolled back to Windows 8.1 Then Reset PC to Factory Setting.  This wiped out all data and applications/programs After getting back to default Windows 8.1, I tried pairing my bluetooth mouse and it worked I then immediately installed Windows 10 (from ISO file downloaded earlier) off a USB stick I chose the option for a clean install (this doesn't load any of the ACER bloatware) Once logging into Windows 10,I went into Device Manager and uninstalled all Bluetooth drivers Then I ran the setup for the Windows 8.1 Atheros bluetooth drivers as suggested - "LITE-ON Bluetooth_M 3rd WiFi 2x2 AC+ BT M.2 QCA NFA344_3.0.0.373_W81x64" I tried pairing my mouse and Nexus 7 and it works!!! For reference, here is my setup under Windows 10 after successfully pairing bluetooth devices. btw, interesting to see that the event log still reports some error about further installation just like earlier - probably indicates that the Win 8.1 Acer drivers are not 100% compatible yet.

  • HP Optical USB Mouse Not Working Win7

I have a HP USB Optical Scroll Mouse (265986-003 MOAFUO) which works on Linux + Mac, but wont work on my Windows 7 PC. I'm pretty sure I've used it before on previous installs of Win7. When I plug it in, it lights up and installs a logitech driver. I've tried the following:
Uninstalling the drivers - it installed the same one again.
Checked the HP driver site - no drivers.
I took the CMOS battery out too
Any ideas? It does work with other OS's so I'm sure this is something that can be fixed. Maybe a driver issue.
    Thanks for reading.

I have exactly the same problem.
However, my dmesg info is slightly different:

  • USB 3 not working in windows 7

I have a late 2013 macbook Air , i7 with 8MB, 512SSD. It has a Windows 7 Partition, the OSX side is fine but in Windows the USB 3 ports are not recognised as such and function as USB 2, they work ok but slow, have checked the USB drivers and most are dated 21/06/2006, apart from 2 ie USB3.0 extensive Host Controller and USB3.0 Root hub bothe dated 29/3/2013 version 2.5.0.19, and when i boot into Windows I keep getting messages to the effect the the devices could perform fater if conected to a USB3 port which they are. Any help appreciated, this is my first ftime on here. Thanks in advance

Spoke to Apple support and they basically suggest I play ping pong with Microsoft, on the basis that all works under OSX, but MS say it is up to Apple to supply the drivers for the hardware, just great. So looks like I shall continue as is for now.

  • USB MIDI not working in Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

The problem is that even though my devices are recognized in Control Panel/ Sound and in Device Manager, no MIDI data actually flows and I cannot sync my keyboard to the Yamaha software that edits it.  The error message in the Yamaha software reads
“The following MIDI ports can not be opened at this time”.   At first, MIDI was working and I could sync up, but after about a week, right around the time I uninstalled and re-installed a MS Lifecam, it failed and has not worked since.
I have been working directly with Yamaha tech support on the issue for some time. I have a Yamaha SX70 XS keyboard, which is recognized by Windows as a connected USB device. It is self-powered, not powered by USB. I am using the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver version
3.1.2 for Windows 7 64-bit (the latest driver). And the latest versions of all their editing software for Win7 64-bit. They assure me that those work for other users of Win7 64-bit. In my case though, everything shows up in Windows, but MIDI doesn’t actually
work. And I cannot sync to the keyboard due to the above error message.
Yamaha tells me that their USB-MIDI driver is installing fine on my machine, except that it’s missing a windows driver at the bottom of the driver stack. (You can see this in Device Manager, Properties/Driver tab, then Driver Details. The missing driver
is ksthunk.sys, which I think handles kernel streaming. Sounds like that would relate to MIDI data. They have never heard of this driver not showing up there, and they cannot reproduce the problem. ksthunk.sys is on my machine in c:\windows\system32\drivers\
and in the registry the image path is \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\ksthunk.sys
All devices are “working properly” in Windows Device Manager, despite that missing driver. Yamaha MIDI Driver is shown in Control Panel/Sound, and it can be worked with there (opened, closed, configured, etc.).  I have also tried three different USB
cables (but those shouldn't be an issue since the keyboard is showing up in Windows).
I was also advised by Yamaha to edit registry key  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32  and remove all midi, midi1, midi2, etc entries, then uninstall and reinstall all drivers. Which I did, but it didn't help.
So far, no amount of re-installation, event viewing, uninstalling devices, numerous reboots, etc has fixed it. On this machine, that driver just doesn’t hook up to the Yamaha MIDI driver and show up in the stack.
So it looks like it may be a Windows 7 config problem on my machine, and I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice on how to fix it. The Microsoft forums contain a fair number of users reporting similar problems, some are audio and some are webcam
related. I've followed those threads, and done several of the suggestions, but haven't found a solution to this one.
This is a Dell XPS 8300 Windows 7 64-bit PC with all the latest updates, only about six weeks old. I've been struggling with the MIDI problem for most of that time.  I'm an IT professional (network and systems admin), so you can be fairly technical
    in your response.
Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks in advance.

I am so glad I found keyman7's description, since I have exactly the same problem.
The problem is not related to MIDI output! I have it with a pure USB-MIDI-input device (keyboard), whichs produces "unknown externeal error" every time I try to select it as input. The same thing occurs with a USB-MIDI-Cable.
I compared the driver details from my system (Dell T1500 windows 7 pro 64 bit) with those of another windows 7 pro 64 bit. On that other system the device works like a charm (so it is not the hardware, either).
On the other system I find ksthunk.sys in addition to the modules that are listed on my system as well (beeing \windows\system32\drivers\drmk.sys, ..\prtcls.sys, ..\USBAUDIO.sys and \windows\system32\SysFx.dll, ..\WMALFXGFXDSP.dll).
Can it be some other USB driver is interfering with this driver stack? I have no idea how to figure out which one it could be. Or, it has been suggested in other threads with somewhat similar looking symptoms, ksthunk.sys has been removed as  UpperFilters
    entry?
    Help - please!

I have Windows 7 loaded in Boot Camp and, for the most part, it works perfectly.
However, neither my Magic Mouse nor my Super Drive work ... at least, not immediately.  My wireless Apple keyboard works perfectly and instantly, but my mouse only works after around a half hour after Windows opens and I haven't gotten the drive to work yet.
    Any suggestions?
    I'm flying a new iMac, 2.7 GHz Core i5, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, running Mountain Lion.

I had the exact same problem as you did (less the drive) Kybd ok mouse didn't work, after installing Updates for Win 7 (about 100+ lol) then my BT kybd stopped working
In the Bootcamp Discussions there is a post about that. The post I didn't bookmark (i will from now on) but I followed this instruction posted (I copied & pasted to Notes)
"Control Panel > Device Manager > Network Adapters > Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter (right click and choose "Properties". Under the "Advanced" tab, highlight the setting named "Bluetooth Collaboration", then change it to Enable. Then click OK."
After that wasn't working yet so, I went to start menu selected Devices & Printers...(if I recall), in the window selected "Magic Mouse icon (it was always showing but not working)  right click & selected "Properties"  for Magic Mouse, don't remember which tab it was but a driver was listed I checked it and clicked ok after a couple of minutes both the BT mouse and kybd worked and hasn't stopped since.
Sorry for lack of precise instruction, not exactly a techie, but can handle myself somewhat in front of a screen & kybd.
Hope this helps, it did for me, good luck
