Trackpad won't scroll

A few weeks ago I was on my phone and it was dying, I went to get the charger but it had already died. I plugged it in and turned it on but the scroller wouldn't move. It would click but no matter what I tried it wouldn't move. I looked it up and it said it needed to be wiped, so stupidly I wiped my phone. But still, nothing. It would just click. Now, it's stuck on terms and conditions and non-usable. I've had to use my old blackberry which is falling apart I tried looking again online to see if there was any other solutions and I came across one saying that the software needed to be update. I did that and waited over an hour, yet no change. It won't move and I really want to use the phone again since I thought it was really good! It's kind of put my of blackberry's because I'd only had it for a couple of months.
I don't know if it has warranty or insurance or anything!
It's a Blackberry 9360 curve, pay as you go. Any suggestions would really be helpful! Thanks x

  • Trackpad won't scroll in migrated account

I'm having migration issues with a new MacBook Pro and an account migrated from a Powerbook G4 running OS 10.5.8. On the new computer, when I am in an account created for the new Macbook, the trackpad works as expected. When I am in the migrated account, the trackpad has only minimal functionality. Clicks work. Scrolling and gestures do not. As this is my main data account (and the other is just for trouble-shooting), it's a bummer not to have the full trackpad.
Some history. The old computer had SideTrack 1.6 installed to operate its trackpad with scrolling. It won't work on Lion, and I have uninstalled this and restarted after migration. Unfortunately, that didn't help. The only other non-apple System Preferences panes are Flip4Mac and Growl.
Any suggestions of what I might do to restore full trackpad functionality?

I browsed the SideTrack site but it offered little in terms of support.  Sounds like there are still some remnants of SideTrack left that are interfering with the preferences.  At least for scrolling, try this:  Go to System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > trackpad options.. button > Check scrolling.

  • Macbook pro trackpad won't scroll

My new MacBook Pro track pad doesn't scroll. Suggestions?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Trackpad won't scroll after migrating from PowerBook PPC 10.58 Q+A

I am posting this and the solution to help others because I was unable to find anyone having the same issue.
I migrated an account from a Powerbook with 10.5.8 to 2010 MacBook pro with current Mountan Lion 10.8.2 installed.
The trackpad worked in every way except to scroll down or up with two fingers. turned the preferences on and off to no avail. scrolling with a mouse's wheel worked fine.
I created a new account on the MBPro and the trackpad worked.
I re-imported the account and had the same problem.
Thus, this was an account-specific issue.
after swapping preference files in and out, I found the culprit.
I had to enable hidden files to be shown.
I replaced the corrupt file with the one from the test account and everything was better.
    filename:
    .GlobalPreferences.E57DD664-D305-5A98-B838-3E1268DF6FF2.plist
    file location:
    /Users/(AccountName)/Library/Preferences/ByHost
Odd problem. I hope this helps someone else.

Glenn, this has been bothering me for several months now. Thank you very much for posting.
I just deleted the file then rebooted, and it worked.

  • Trackpad won't scroll on a Blackberry 9300

    Hey,
basically my trackpad wont scroll down. I have had this problem even when the blackberry was new. I dropped my blackberry in water but there was no damage to it, but now when I explain it to my network provider they think it's because of the water damage. I haven't got a warranty on it, so water damage isn't covered. They said for me to do a software update. I tried it and still no luck. If anyone can think of any solutions then please reply ASAP!
    Thanks
    Archie

Replace the membrane and trackpad, the phones pretty much useless till you fix it, also,as its been in water take it apart(if you know how)voids warranty, and clean ever millimetre of it with a cotton bud and rubbing alcohol(evaporates with any dust. Very sensitive to pocket fluff etc. the Blackberry.
If you don't know how to do it, google is your friend

  • After installing a fix that showed up today my trackpad now won't scroll as it was previously. Anyone have any ideas?

Since installing a "fix" that showed up on my desktop today for Mavericks, and the restart of the computer after installation, my trackpad won't scroll as it did before, and I tried the preferences on the trackpad and it shows it is set up properly. Anyone have issues after installing the Mavericks fix?

Power cycle the trackpad by holding the on button for 5-6 seconds

  • My trackpad won't allow me to scroll up and down with two fingers

my trackpad won't allow me to scroll up and down as usual .

Check your settings in System Preferences>Trackpad.
Your trackpad may need a thorough cleaning.  That often will restore functionality.
If no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bat for a FREE evaluation.
    Ciao.

  • Magic Trackpad won't work with Magic Mouse on brand new 2011 27" i5 iMac

I have a brand new 2011 27" i5 iMac which I bought with Snow Leopard pre-loaded. Naturally, I included the new Magic Trackpad in my purchase, and though there were some problems with the device in SL - such as it going haywire without explanation - it generally worked, although battery levels were erratic (one day 80%, then an hour later 42%, then 80% again).
When I installed Lion I did a clean install after backing up to Time Machine - and a Super Dupered external drive. I had some difficulties trying to install Lion from an external flash drive so I deleted again and reinstalled SL, then reinstalled over the SL install I did (with no other software except Mac OS X 10.6.8 and other system updates to facilitate install). Rather than copying apps from my old SL drive, I downloaded fresh copies and reinstalled one by one. I don't use a lot of apps apart from Microsoft Office, browsers and iLife and have not installed any additional scripts, extensions or add-ons (like USB Overdrive). It's a pretty clean install.
Since then, although I'm generally happy with Lion, the Magic Trackpad won't work! It does work for a little while with basic gestures - mainly moving the cursor and scrolling - then it gives up the ghost and loses connectivity. I have done the following:
Disconnected and reconnected the MTP after turning it on and off. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Shut the computer down, pulled out the plug, waited two minutes, then started up again. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Run Onyx, shut down computer, then pulled out plug (see above).
Checked options in Universal Access, shut off "Ignore other devices when trackpad in use" (or whatever the option is). MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Turned off the Magic Mouse. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
But none of this seems to work! I know the MTP is connected because I can see it in the BT menu in the menu bar and also in System Preferences. I have noticed since upgrading that my permissions - which when I bought the computer were totally clean - now run lines and lines about "Library/Core Services" so I am unsure whether this is related. I also notice a lot of people are in the same boat as me, which makes me wonder if it's either a hardware issue or a release issue - after a week or so of totally silent running, my 2TB Hitachi HDD started up with the grumbly tum. I'd really appreciate any tips from anyone out there!

    Hi, marksaner
You could try installing the latest version of the Synaptics driver. Synaptics is the company that makes the UltraNav driver and drivers for many other computer brands. This driver should have the same functionality as the UltraNav driver, so there's no worry there. You can find the driver here.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • The Apple trackpad won't except the "pinch open and close" command on Firefox version 4. It is configured correctly in the system preferences. HELP!

I am using the Apple trackpad with Firefox version 4. The trackpad won't "pinch open and close". It is configured correctly in the system preferences. It also worked in version 3. Anyone have any suggestions?

Do the related browser.gesture prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page still have a value set for those gestures?
Which Firefox function should be performed with those gestures?
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

I knew I'd seen the solution you've provided somewhere - either in MacWorld or MacFormat - but couldn't remember the Gatekeeper bit!
I shall save it somewhere VERY safe now in case this happens again …
You have made an old man very happy and saved me from worrying that senile decay had suddenly set in. (I was 70 last week so you might understand the situation from that.)
