Trackpad wont do 2 finger swipe for my wife, fine for me?

I just bought a new imac with a magic trackpad.  When I do a 2 finger swipe it works fine but when my wife tries it, it doesn't work.  I watched closely to make sure both fingers were making contact.  She seems to be doing it correctly.  This was just trying to move from one screen of Launchpad to the other, nothing weird in a software.

I talked to a female friend and she had the same problem.  A genius told her it might be the lotion on her hands...

  • Upgraded to Lion & can no longer finger swipe for/backwards between pages. Is there a fix for this?

Title says it all. I just upgraded to Mac OS X Lion, and can no longer use a finger swipe, whether one or 2 fingered, to move backwards an forwards between pages. I can still do so in Safari, but not in Firefox 5.01, my preferred browser, any longer. Doesn't matter if I try using one, two or more fingers
Is there a fix for this? Thank you.

If you download this program http://blog.boastr.net/?page_id=1722 (better touch tool), you can make your own swipe gestures.
However, I have been able to three-finger swipe forward and back on webpages by going to ''system preferences'' > ''trackpad settings'' > ''more gestures''
and checking the box at ''"swipe between pages"'' and selecting ''swipe left/right with 3 fingers''

  • No two-finger swipe for month, year, day in iCal

I can't use a two-finger swipe to switch forward or back in iCal in day, month, or year view, only week. How can I get it to do this in the other views?

    Nemo,
System Preferences...>Mouse>More Gestures will influence your "two-finger" swipe choices. If you have a Trackpad, choose that instead of Mouse in System Preferences.
Swiping is only available in the Calendar Day/Week views. Monthly changes are made by scrolling, and Year view is changed by clicking on the < > arrows surrounding the word "Today" on the top left side of the Year window.

  • No two finger swipe for navigating files in Lion?

I use the track pad and just updated to Lion - which has some great features. But I while I can two finger swipe on Safari pages to go back and forth, I don't seem to be able to do that now when going through my files in Finder....
Am I missing something or is this the way it is now?....
    Any help would be appreciated!

  • 2 finger swipe for Notifications pane?

Is it possible to configure this action for Magic Mouse?  This is how I view the pane with my MBP's trackpad.

You now have to swipe to the right to go back. Most scrolling behavior is reverse from what you've been used to now.

  • Magic Mouse One-Finger Swipe Works for one user but not the other

For the main account on my iMac, I can use a single finger swipe to move back and forward within Chrome. However the second user (also an administrator) cannot use this setting and must instead use the two finger swipe in settings. Both settings are identical but the Chrome browser wont recognize the single finger swipe for the second user. The gesture works fine in Safari, but not Chrome. Any suggestions?

  • Four-finger swipe constantly stops working

I'm running Snow Leopard on my 27" iMac with a Magic Trackpad, and the four-finger swipe Expose gesture regularly stops working, which two and three-finger gestures continue to work fine.
Sometimes a reboot will fix the problem, other times I can reboot two or three times before four-finger swipe works again.  I've used the trackpad since it was released with no issues until a month or two ago when the problem started.
I've installed the latest combo update, repaired disk permissions many times over, reset PRAM and SMC, deleted a plist file pertaining to Expose which someone on the forum recommended.  Nothing has helped as of yet.
When 10.7 Lion is released I'll do a full and fresh install which should finally take care of things, but until then I'd love to get this working without having to reinstall 10.6.
    Thanks for any help.

  • 2 finger swipe in mission control instead of 3 finger

I have an old white macbook which is not able to use 3-finger gestures. So I cannot swipe between the different desktops in mission control. I know that I can use the alt key and then press a desktop of choice or a keyboard shortcut but I would prefer to use the trackpad.
Therefore i ask: Is it possible to use 2 finger swipe in mission control to switch between desktops instead of 3 fingers?

There is no option to use 2 finger swipe for page browsing or iTunes
    Just the horizontal scrolling
But I think you think I have a Macbook Pro who is able to do 3 finger swiping, but that's not true, the maximum number of fingers this one can detect is only 2
That's why I'm asking if I can use a 2 finger swipe for these abilities

  • 3 finger swipe to navigate Safari

On my old MBP (2.66 Ghz Core 2 duo running 10.6.8) I could always navigate between pages in Safari using a 3 finger swipe (left for back, right for forward). My new 2.7 Ghz i7 with 10.8.4 won't do it. I've tried Safari Preferences and System Preferences trackpad settings with no avail. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hey DigitMus,
Thanks for the question. With the introduction of Lion, the swipe to navigate default gesture changed to a two-finger scroll. System Preferences > Trackpad provides three options for "Swipe between pages":
    - Scroll left or right with two fingers
    - Swipe with three fingers
    - Swipe with two or three fingers
You'll want to make sure this preference is set as you wish, and checked to be enabled. For more information, see these resources:

Apple - Use your fingers to use your Mac in OS X Mountain Lion.
    http://www.apple.com/osx/what-is/gestures.html#gallery-gestures-swipe
Swipe to navigate – Web pages in Safari, documents in Preview and more, just like thumbing a page in a book. Note: If there is horizontal content to scroll, this gesture will first scrolls to the end of content and then it will move to the next page.
              - Magic Trackpad – A horizontal two finger swipe will show the next or previous page. Tip: Once you pass the rubber-band threshold, lift your fingers to change page.  Also you can flick your fingers at the end of the swipe for momentum.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • 2 finger swipe in Safari/iTunes

    I have a late 2007 Macbook Pro with 10.6.2.
As you know it has 2 finger scrolling, but no 3 finger swiping
But now I was thinking, it registers 2 finger horizontal scrolling, shouldn't it be able to switch that to a swipe?
So I mean that if I do a 2 finger swipe in Safari, it goes to the previous/next page and in iTunes it goes to the previous/next song.
    Thanks!

  • 3 Finger Swipe

So I received my brand new 15" MBP yesterday. I opened it and set it up. Then when I got home I migrated all the data and settings from my 12" PB with 10.4.11.
My problem is that with the first account I set up works fine with the 3 finger swipe for navigation. With my migrated account it does not. All the other multitouch features work in the migrated account.
Any ideas of where I could find the preference or what I need to delete?
I know that migrating from a PPC to an Intel isn't seemless but most of my stuff seemed to work besides this.

check in system preferences first to make sure that feature is on (i assume multi touch can be turned on and off i have not gotten to try it yet and am not going be getting a new machine for a while). if it is on you may have to go through and start messing with plists in you library but i have no ideas which ones and its not something you want to randomly go in a screw around with
