Trackpad Zoom Controls - pinch open & close application specific disable

Does anyone know if there is a way of controlling trackpad zoom controls so that "pinch open & close" can be disabled for specific applications (including the finder)?
I have solved the majority of my concerns with Browsing and Office by using Firefox and NeoOffice - both of which have a fix included.
It would be nice to have the same control over the finder so that the icons are not being re-sized inadvertently.

Well - I'm betting this is a software problem ... but it is certainly the case that only those armed with MBP's having the new multi-touch trackpad would see it and be able to check it out on their own computers.
The fact that the pinching mechanism works (as do all of the other multi-finger features) attests to the fact that the improved track pad is in fact discriminating the different kinds of actions correctly.
The catch is that I can disable the other multi-finger features .... but unchecking the pinch feature does not disable it .... in my experience, this would make the operating system a more likely culprit for the problem ... my assumption here is that it is the OS that is making the decision whether or not to ignore certain kinds of input from the trackpad when certain features are disabled.

Can't use "pinch open & close" in iPhoto

Hi!
My problem is not serious, but it's really annoying. I'm used to using "pinch open & close" in iPhoto but now I can't do it. When I try to zoom my picture with it, the whole window of the application disappeared. I can zoom my picture only using a scroll bar, but it inconvenient. However, "pinch open & close" works properly in all other applications.
I've checked all the preferences but still can't fined the solution.
I'll be very thankful if someone helps me! =)

Do you have set the iPhoto "Preferences > General" to "Email Photos using iPhoto"? With this setting I am seeing the same, the name of the Group vanishes, as soon as I press "Enter". It looks like iPhoto were not possible to retrieve the group from Contacs. It looks like a bug to me. The handling of groups changed in Yosemite and perhaps iPhoto's update for Yosemite does not include this new method.
With the setting "Preferences > General > Email Photos using Mail" however, iPhoto will open "Mail" app instead and in that case the group will be expanded and works. Mail.app also has stationary for mailing photos. You can show it from the toolbar with the "Show stationary" button.
So, as a work around,
Either use Mail.app as mail client from iPhoto with the setting "Preferences > General > Email Photos using Mail",
Or make a detour. First Share the photos from iPhoto to yourself using your own email address and iPhoto's stationary, and then use the command "Message > Redirect ⇧⌘E" in Mail to forward the iPhoto mail to the group.

My pinch open & close is not working on my macbook pro......any particular reason?

I have a Macbook Pro and I recently updated to Firefox 4. Once I updated, I noticed that my pinch open & close doesn't work anymore. If I open Safari browser, pinch open & close works fine.

Your home button must be damages somehow. i know that you can use your phone without it using an accessibility feature called assisstive touch. It is a little icon that will always be on your device's display and can function as a home button. This is only a temporary solution. Eventually you should see if you qualify for some kind of replacement.

Sound that plays when I open/close applications

Somehow when I open/close an application and do other similar things, my Mac makes a beeping sound. I checked System Preferences and do not see an option for this under sounds. I am also not sure how this was ever set. How/where can I turn this off?

Satellite A110-180: Control buttons open wrong applications

Before I've installed Microsoft Office 2003 buttons worked fine. But since I've installed it the internet explorer button executes word, and other ones execute excel. Toshiba Controls configuration is correct (predetermined ones).
I've have deinstalled Toshiba Controls application and installed the new one I've download in drivers section. I have desinstalled office and re-installed and I have the same problem.
How could I fix it, please?

Try to configure these controls again.
As far as I know its possible to assign any applications to this buttons.
Therefore go to the Toshiba control utility and configure the singles buttons with different programs.
Is it possible to assign different programs and only the excel and word?

Pinch open and close zoom (mac) not working in latest beta update

Anybody know why pinch open close for the mac track pad suddenly does not zoom in the lastest beta update?

I am typing out easy instructions for those that are new to entering values. I myself am no expert for sure. It took me awhile to figure it out and I got it to work. I was mad when the pinch to zoom didn’t work after I updated. Thank you '''cor-el''' for posting a fix.
1. Go to a new tab, type in ''about:config'' hit enter
2. Click the “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button
3. Scroll down until you see “browser.gesture.pinch.in” right click on it and hit modify
4. A drop down that says “Enter string value” appears type in ''cmd_fullZoomReduce''
5. Click ok
Find the other ones and do the same. After you have entered all four you should see them in bold and on the right under value you should see only this cmd_fullZoomReduce part.
6.Once you have it all entered just close the tab and it should work.
I didn’t have to quit Firefox for it to work, but you may.
I’m using a MacBook Pro and it worked great, Hope this helps.

Checkbox (only) controls open/close function of collapsible panel

I have a form with several collapsible panels in it, each

Yessir, it is possible. I was struggling with something
similar myself, and got it figured out. You'll need to do this in
two steps.
First, you should disable the existing listener, so that when
you click the tab area nothing happens. You'll need to wade into
your SpryCollapsiblePanel.js file and comment out a line. Somewhere
around line 191 you'll find a function called
"Spry.Widget.CollapsiblePanel.prototype.attachPanelHandlers".
Within that function, around line 198, you'll find the following
code:

Comment it out by typing a double forward slash (//) at the
beginning of the line like this:

panels built using that file. If you need standard collapsible

Pinch open and close

Just got my MBP last week. Pinch open and close (to zoom in and out) works on pdfs, but not on photos in iPhoto. Am I doing something wrong? I have the box checked for it to work, obviously, since it works on the pdfs. Thanks in advance.

It doesn't work while viewing items in iPhoto, you can set 'screen zoom' in TrackPad prefs which will and sometimes that's handy.
