Tracks are stopping halfway through

After transferring to a new computer, many of my tracks stop playing in the middle of the track, but show the full track length in the track duration section. For example, a track will be indicated as being 6:00 minutes long, but will stop playing as if the track had ended at 3:15. This has happened with many tracks, but not all of them. How can I correct this problem? It happens on my computer and on my ipod, a 160gb Ipod classic.

Seems like the files are corrupted, which usually happens when you don't let a download finish or sometimes when transferring to a new computer, where do the albums/tracks come from? Try and re-download a track if you have purchased it on iTunes. If you added the album through a CD or a download, try re-doing that as well.

Delete the current copies and then download again (free) from your purchased history. If the problem persists contact iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history.

  • Audio stops halfway through video recordings

I used my new iPhone a couple of times to record something last night and now when I'm playing back the videos the audio stops halfway through.
Can anyone tell me why this is and if there's any way of restoring all of the original sound?
    Thanks

Glad to know someone else has experienced this bug. I had the audio cut out midway through a recording, and stay silent through a number of subsequent "takes". It came back the next day and I haven't had any trouble since. Still, I'd like to know how to avoid this problem, or if it's just a random bug.
I first thought I might have inadvertently pressed some button muting the microphone, but there really doesn't seem to be any control over the sound in the video recording function.

  • Songs are stopping halfway and skipping to the next song

I recently imported some new songs onto my itunes, and some songs are stopping halfway and skipping to the next song. This is happening both on my itunes on mac and on my ipod classic. I have already checked the ending time of the songs, and also checked the audio file to see if it was corrupted. I have also tried deleting the song and importing it on itunes again, but nothing changes. It's becoming quite annoying, and I would really like to fix the problem..

I, too, am having this problem as of two updates ago. It' been like this for about two weeks now. Music stops, songs skip like I'm using an old CD player and went over a bump - just abruptly stopping/changing to the next song. I've also noticed VERY clear and sudden changes in song quality while streaming, it's a bit jarring.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. I'm in the Phoenix, AZ area, and I'm using T-Mobile.
    I have tried the following:
    Restart phone
    Clear data
    Uninstall and reinstall
    Lower streaming quality
I've noticed this seems to only happen on streamed songs.. downloaded ones are OK. Everything was fine until the update that changed the 'Your Music' section :(
Edit: Wifi works fine.. It seems to either be a) streaming over T-Mobile or b) how Spotify handles streaming/slow connections/whatever has changed in a recent update. Can past and future repliers include their mobile carrier to see if there's a trend?

  • Windows 7 - Downloads stopping halfway through

I recently downloaded windows 7 and it is running well on my computer. However, itunes will not complete downloads (I was testing with a video podcast) - they start and then stop halfway through, and give error 3259. I have run the connectivity diagnostic, checked my firewall, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and it still doesn't work. My anti virus program is AVG - could this be affecting the downloads? Is there anything else that I can do?

Very similar issue for me. I copied my Vista profile to my server and installed Windows 7 Pro. Reinstalled all apps, copied data from old profile back into new one. iTunes loaded with everything EXACTLY as it was before (right down to playcount on songs and everything). For several days, no problem downloading video podcasts. A few days ago, that changed. Out of the blue, it would disconnect me 50-80% of the way through the download and give me error 3259 (& 9006 once). I've read online how it's due to firewall settings, antivirus and old iTunes. I was running iTunes 9.0.1 and it would not permit me to update to 9.0.2 so I downloaded it and installed on my own. Still have the problem. The firewall whitelisted iTunes and I opened up recommended ports as well. No change. I'm using AVG free so it doesn't have a firewall. With Vista, I used McAfee but then I had Windows 7 working fine with AVG and allowing downloads until this sudden change.
The recommended fixes DO NOT work. Changing firewall settings changes nothing. The antivirus has no firewall and no settings for any kind of whitelisting of iTunes anyways. Updating iTunes changes nothing. I can still download the podcasts manually through Firefox or using my Mac Mini running OS X Server (10.5). Given how it worked at one time, nothing changed, then it suddenly stopped, I'm at a loss.
I did get two to download today but I changed nothing before they started and then the third in line to download failed.
I haven't been on Apple discussions lately but since it is a forum, my background is entirely IT. It's how I make my living (troubleshooting in general). It's possible I have overlooked something but given the recommended fixes out there so far and all the variations on them that I have tried, it is unlikely. The issue must be caused by something other than firewall settings, antivirus or iTunes version. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open. I'm getting tired of using Windows LiveSync to keep podcasts updated on this Windows 7 laptop.
Any help finding the actual fix for this problem is greatly appreciated.

  • Ipod stopping halfway through a song and restarting

my 1st gen. ipod stops halfway through a song and restarts. but it doesn't do this with all songs, just some. i updated the songs from my ipod onto it again, then manually ejected it, but nothing is working..
    HELP!!

Try reseting it by holding both Menu and Center buttons down untill the Apple Logo pops up(you my have to do this a couple times for it to work). Or you can restore its factory settings and put the songs back on the iPod. But if that doesen't work try calling this number Apple Disability Solutions (800) 767-2775 and see if you can get yourself further help.

  • My tape stops halfway through thiking it's done. It lies. help?

Ok, I'm pretty sure I"ve got a timecode break. I was capturing using "Capture Now" because I didn't feel like logging and halfway through the tape stops. I notice that there are no longer timecode numbers. ok, that shouldn't be a problem I thinks, I'll just do some more Capture Now-ing to get through.
    Wrong
The tape refuses to play past the time code break. Both my deck, a JVC SR-DVM600 and a GL2 seem to think that this timecode break is the end of the tape and refuse to continue.
Anyway to imbed some timecode onto the tape? Am I going to be completely screwed here? I really cant say.
    Help?
    Power Mac G5 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Final Cut Pro 5.0

Dub your original tape with the missing timecode, and make sure that the deck recording the dub is set to generate NEW timecode, then capture your bad clips from the dubbed tape with the new timecode. (I think Brian was basically telling you the same thing).
I had the same problem a few weeks ago - it was caused by the internal battery in one of two cameras on a shoot going bad. At first timecode was just momentarily dropping out, and then it quit altogether a few minutes later - despite the fact that the timecode was jam synched and fed from another camera. If your footage was shot on your GL2, I'd replace the internal battery.
    Good luck!

  • Download stopped halfway through

My song stopped downloading halfway through and just keeps saying retry. I just want my song!

Welcome to the Apple Community Jessica.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option which is revealed in the iTunes app on your iOS device by tapping the more button at the bottom of the screen.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Sound stops halfway through songs.

With a group of songs downloaded during a short period of time (within a week,) the sound will completely cut off halfway through, but the song will keep playing. These are all songs downloaded with ITunes. It even happens on my computers iTunes. I've synced a bunch since then, and it has not resolved the problem at all. Help?

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.
If you've been through ALL these steps and you still have problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple.

  • Updates stopping halfway through

    Hey everyone,
I'm trying to get the "GarageBand Instruments and Apple Loops" update for GarageBand which is 1.2 gb all together. The problem that I'm getting is that the update quits halfway through and when I try to do the update again it starts over. I think that I'm only getting this problem because my internet is as slow as it is but I'm not sure. Shouldn't it always be able to continue where it left off? Also, is there any other way I can get ahold of this update?

  • Podcast stops halfway through

I just started my own podcast a couple months ago. I make it myself using GarageBand, then I upload it to my server and update the RSS feed. When I run the song in iTunes before I upload it it's fine, and when I download the file that's on my server via HTTP, it's also perfectly fine. But, when I download it via iTunes by updating my podcast, it only gives me some of the file. It abruptly stops partway through. It also only loads a partial list of chapters. The funny thing is that it's the right size (in MB) and it has the right length according to iTunes, it's just that the second half of it is dead air.

I just had a similar experience yesterday... I connected the iPod to my iMac, and it froze during synching (a feature I only just started using after manual management). Force-quitting didn't work: the arrow wouldn't disappear next to the dock icon, even though the finder box registered as though the program had quit. I couldn't shut down or re-start, and could only get out of this by holding down the off-switch on the back of the computer. There was no way to stop the iPod from synching, since the synch process starts automatically as soon as it's connected-- that is to say, before you can get to the iPod menu each time to stop the synching, it's already under way.
I called Apple support, and though I'm not under warranty any more, the guy did help me. The only way out of it that he could see was for me to disconnect the iPod while the computer was off, start iTunes, delete all the podcasts for the program whose files were freezing, then hook up the iPod again and hit "restore". I did this, and it worked-- but I lost all the podcasts of that show that I hadn't listened to yet. I could only recover them by going to the radio page and downloading them individually.
Does anyone know anything about this? Is the fault with the podcast files and Mac compatability, or is there something wrong with the program? The phone support person said that podcasts aren't produced by iTunes and so there can be issues, but I also know that the radio show in question always advertises its podcasts as being available through iTunes, so I wonder.

  • HT1349 Songs stop halfway through and switch to the next song

In iTunes some of my songs stop a little more then halfway and then switch to the next song how can I stop this from doing that ?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • HELP: Songs stop halfway through since iPhone 6 switch

I noticed the other day after upgrading to the iPhone 6 some of my songs would play for 45sec-1min and then would stop, and jump to the next song. I read that this could be an issue after transferring to a new phone, so I wiped all music off my phone and reloaded it.Unfortunately the issue still persisted.
I then went to test in iTunes on my MBP and found I was having the same issue with the same songs. It's not happening on all songs, in fact it appears to be random. Some I've bought from iTunes store, some I've ripped from CDs, and they're both affected the same. Then even more confusing I went back to my iPhone 5s and iPad to test, and all the songs play correctly. So now it's just my iPhone 6 and my MBP that have the issue.
I'm running the most current version of OS X and iOS. This issue is most frustrating, and I'm hoping someone could shed some light on a possible solution, thanks in advance!

I have had the same problem with several songs purchased from iTunes over the past year.  Usually I report them as a problem file at the store, but I have never gotten a reply.  Tonight, I noticed one of my latest purchases doing that.  If I move the position bar to later in the song, it immediately skips to the next song.  I was afraid that maybe my files were getting corrupted, so I copied the file right out of iTunes and pasted it on my desktop.  Then I double clicked on the desktop file and it played all the way through in iTunes.
Just for giggles, I copied and pasted the newly created file over the old one, and it still skips to the next song just as before.
I have seen one solution that I believe will work, which is to recreate the library.  But I have years worth of playlists, playcounts, ratings, etc. that I don't want to lose.  Please help!
