Tracks go to bottom of list when played

I just upgraded to iTunes 8.0.2 and now every time i play a track of an album it moves itself to the end of list of tracks for that album. So I'm in my library, I play the first track of an album, it plays and also moves itself to the end of list of tracks for that album. So basically if I start off in my library playing the first track of the first album, every time I click next track it goes to the first track of each album. The funny thing is that if I play all the tracks of an album they quit the described behavior. But manually playing every song in my playlist isn't really practical. I don't know if this is a bug, or if I tweaked a sorting option somehow, but some help would be much appreciated. I can't be the only person this has happened to. It's extremely annoying. I can't listen to an album all the way through without first playing every track on the album for at least a second.

I'm in library: music and it's sorted by artist. But it still moves any track i play from an album to the bottom of the list. The weird thing is it only does it once for each track. Once I've skipped all the way through an album, I don't have problems with those tracks or that album any more. It seems to me like iTunes imported/saved/loaded/corrupted the file that contains the library info somehow. I noticed after I upgraded to 8.0.2. I think it imported/loaded the database improperly. And I would delete and reload my music but I don't want to lose all the time I've spent rating songs. I could go through and play every track in my library manually, but with 40 GB's of music, it would be a little ridiculous. And until this is resolved if i try to play an album that hasn't been played since I upgraded iTunes to 8.0.2, it will play the first track, move itself to the bottom of the list, then when the track is over it will play the first track of the next album. So I cannot listen to an album all the way through without briefly skipping through each track first. Very annoying.
So my library is sorted by artist and the tracks are displayed in proper numerical order. Then, when I play a track that hasn't been played after the upgrade, it moves itself to the bottom of the list for that album.

    I shot video in HD (1080 60i) and captured it into FCP in that format and edited the whole project in that format. It plays fine in FCP when I preview it on my computer monitor.
    I then went to Compressor and made it a SD (not HD) MPEG 2 Widescreen. I then imported it into DVD Studio Pro and set it up the proper way. When I went to simulate it, I noticed there was a green video layer on both the top and bottom of the screen right above where the black widescreen bars are.
    I went ahead on burned the DVD as I always do. When I play it on widescreen TV I cannot see the black bars on Top and Bottom because it is a full picture and takes up the entire screen. When I play the DVD on a CRT Television, the black bars appear on top and bottom, like they are supposed to, and the green video is there on both the top and bottom like it is in DVD Studio Pro when I simulated it.
    What is this green video doing there and how do I get rid of it? I never had this problem before. It seems only to be happening during the encoding process.

    What I like to do when testing is to create the action safe and text safe lines in photoshop and burn them on a test DVD so I can see how much overscan shows.
    My HDTV only cuts off a little bit while my older TV's really cut allot and almost go to the text safe lines.
    Just something fun to test out.
    Im hoping one day we will just have no PAR's and no overscan just like our computers.
    Have our TV's just like our computers so if looks good on a computer it will look the same on TV's but that day im sure is far off.

    Deinterlaced QT HDV clips (deinterlaced through the de-interlace box in the video-track properties) do not remain deinterlaced when played in Keynote 2.
    BTW I have found deinterlacing QT HDV clips in FCP not to be fully satisfactory.
    Any better solution for deinterlacing finished HDV clips (1080i50) available?

    To view HDV on an external monitor you are going to need to purchase a capture card, like the ones Decklink or AJA offer. They will both play out HDV in real time. The catch is that you cannot view this on a regular TV or NTSC monitor. Since this is HD, an HD monitor will be needed.
    HDV cannot be played out of FCP via Firewire because it's Long GOP structure is too taxing on your processors to spare the system resources needed to drive an external monitor.
    The best option you have is the Matrox MXO...$1000.

    I had a similar problem: I wanted to synch my playlist to my iphone. I like to have my playlist sorted by genre. But under each genre, albums are not sorted by the track numbers. This is a problem, especially when I am listening to club mixes when the DJ smoothly transitions from 1 track sequentially to the next one. Under the properties of each audio file, the Track Numbers and Disc Numbers are already there.
    My perfect solution was to turn On Sorting - Sort Album under View>Show View Options. Then, select all the songs in that album (Shift click, Cmd click, etc) , and Edit multiple item information (Cmd I). You will see Info-Video-Sorting-Options buttons. Click on Sorting. Then, under Sort Album, Enter the name of the album. Then OK.
    You should now have the playlist sorted by Genre, then each album individually sorted by track numbers. On your playlist you should see, if you scroll right, the column added called "Sort Album".

    for a long time, itunes has been changing genre information that i typed in manually when playing a track, example giving "soundtrack" to "Filmmusik" or "rock" to "Rock" (i prefer lower case letters). until upgrading to itunes 11, it was able to edit the localizable.strings file and set the predefined genres to lowercase and "Filmmusik" to "soundtrack" and so on. now i had to install itunes 11 to run my new ipod, and the localizable.strings file looks quite different. it doesn't seem to be the file now where the necessary updates have to be done.
    therefore, first question is if anyone can tell me where i can find the predefined genres and update them? then i will have a workaround at least.
    actually, i would prefer to stop itunes changing track information in any case. i've spend more than a year to import all my cd's and used lots of time to have reliable track informations. i don't want the software to change my data without me committing any change. also, even worse, itunes updates the aac-file itself as well. i used to use the last updated information as a criteria in intelligent playlists, but itunes makes it impossible to get the expected result with its unwanted updates.
    so, any help will be aprreciated. in case it should matter, i have an imac with os x 10.6.8. the problem seems to occur only in itunes, when i play the tracks on my ipod, the information remains unchanged. and since i read about similar problems with songs from the itunes store - all my tracks are imported from cd manually.

    Dependent upon which view you are using to look at the album, they will be playing in the "view" order. For example, in the screenshot below, in the Songs view, I have a view of an album like this, while the song "Follow Me" is playing:
    Look carefully at the picture and you will notice that the sort order for this view is in "reverse Last Played order", and if you now look at the Track No. column, you will notice that "Follow Me" is track 12, the last one on the album. If you also look at the Up Next list, you can see every track from the album, in the same order as they appear in the main window, so it will play in reverse order.
    To play this album in the correct track order, I simply click on the Track No. column header (so that the arrow is pointing up) and then select the track at the top of the list, track 1, "Sunset Song". Look at this screenshot:
    Notice that now, the tracks in the Up Next list are in track order and the album will play in the correct order.

  • When playing downloaded pod casts (Dan Patrick Show) tracks keep switching and playing spontaneously?

    While listening to downloaded podcasts, tracks keep stopping and moving to next track in list randomly.  Durring key presses, durring mouse movements, or just sitting and listening. There seems to be no rhyme or reason, but it is totally annoying especilly since the intro to the next show is like 3 times as load and disturbs others in the office when I can't turn it down in time.  Any suggestions?

    If you go to the Now Playing screen, the Repeat control is the the arrowed racetrack icon on the left side right below the scrubber bar. Tap the icon to change. It is white when Repeat is off.

  • When playing songs on my ipod the tracks begin 21 seconds into the song

    Something weird is going on with my 3rd gen iPod Touch (32gb). When I play music, very often I run into a problem where all or most of the tracks in an album will begin playing 21 seconds into a song. For instance, I might select the first track in an album and it begins playing at 0:21. I can jump back to the beginning of the track and it plays normally, but then when the song ends it begins playing the next track at 0:21. This will continue for most of the tracks in a given album (but sometimes not all). I can always skip back to the beginning of the track, but each time an affected track is played it begins at 0:21.
    I have reset my iPod to factory settings and then restored to a back up. I'm currently using iOS version 4.1 and I'm unfortunately unable to update any further. (Further iOS updates require updating iTunes, and I am unable to update past iTunes 9.2.1 because I'm still running OS 10.4.11.)

    Additional info: It's not always 21 seconds, but the time remains consistent within an album. 75% of the tracks on The Lonely Island - Incredibad begin at 0:21. Half of the tracks on David Bowie - Scary Monsters begin at 3:16. The last two tracks on Ziggy Stardust begin at 2:24. Etc, etc.

    I'm having the same issue on my iPad (the "new iPad" / 3rd gen with retina display and 30 pin dock connector) after downloading iOS 7 (is that what you meant by the new format, updating to iOS 7?).
    The music will play quietly for a few seconds then it will play at the volume it's supposed to.

  • [SOLVED] Random crashes when playing videos on Atom J1900 / Intel HD

    Hi,
    Following my first thread (which has been gladly solved, finally), I'm still getting stuck on the "crashes when playing videos" thing.
    FIY here are the specs, copied from my original thread:
    I've just bought a Gigabyte Brix to be used as an HTPC. The exact model is GB-BXBT-1900.
    I've installed 4 GB of 1.35V RAM (Corsair CT51264BF160B), which is supported by this model, and a Kingston SSD (V300 60GB).
    Then of course, I've installed Arch x64 with a base system and Xorg with DE (Xfce).
    It can happen after 2 or 50 minutes (it rarely goes beyond this limit), mainly when using VLC, but I could reproduce the same behavior with SMPlayer or even Kodi: the display freezes and I can no longer move the cursor, use the keyboard (to change TTY for example) or access the machine remotely. I'm forced to press the power button for 5 seconds and boot again.
    No sign of any warning in the logs, no high temperature on any sensor, nothing that could help me find what to blame. The wired keyboard attached does not show blinking LEDs so I'm assuming it's not a kernel panic.
    The thing is, those crashes happen *only* when playing videos. Otherwise the machine is extremely stable and can stay up and running for days or weeks without a crash. But if you play a video on it, be prepared to reboot within the next half-hour.
    So I'm assuming this has something to do with the display driver, or its configuration. I did not change anything to the default one, just added "intel_pstate=disabled" to the boot command line as advised in another thread, but it didn't help.

    Hello, i too have random freeze without any "usable" info.
    The blame "may" (well i think it is) be a "baytay + i915 kernel drivers" fault, these thread are intresting :

    I did use the trik on a custom kernel, i do have freeze (none tomoroy but two today but only on using firefox, so may be another probleme (sna))  but not on video (well i had run 15 video same time, and two where running 2 hours after without crash). May be you should try it (i think it work better).

  • Song/Album info keeps reverting back to old version when played on itunes

    Hello everyone,
    I am having trouble with iTunes 6 reverting my Track/Album information to the original when I select the song or album to be played. I have re-organized my library's live albums' names to start with the year in which it was recorded rather than original album name; however, when i click on a song to listen to it, the song moves- when I click to show the location of the song playing, it is back listed under the album name that I just edited... any help would be greatly appreciated, this is quite frustrating!

    It sounds like you actually want/need to update the tags of the songs and not just rename them. That's the only way this can be properly handled in your iTunes library.
    Perhaps the easiest way to do this is to Edit > Show Browser so you can easily navigate through the albums you've already got. Now, once you select an (improperly named) album from the browser, you isolate all the songs on that album. Just select them all (click one of the tracks and press Apple+a), then press Apple+i to edit tag information. Click the Info tab, and there you can enter the desired/modified album name in the Album field. Once you've done that, click the OK button.
    Another alternative is to display the Year tag in your iTunes library. That way you don't need to edit the Album tags (unless you still want to). To enable the display of the Year tag, go to Edit > View Options and check the box next to Year, then click OK. When you return to your iTunes library, a new column will be added for the Year tag.

  • Satellite P750 makes strange noise every so often when playing music etc.

    I like playing alot of music on my laptop, but lately this stranges keeps randomly occuring. It almosts sounds like the track has frozen up, but it hasn't because it keeps playing(like a scratched disc in a cd player freezing??).
    Its just every now and then, but it is very noticeable especially when played through my good external speakes. It occurs through the inbuilt speakers, standard headphones and external speakers.
    Just wondering if any has any ideas what it is and how i can fix it because it is really annoying me.

    This problem is about DPC latency, which affects audio/video streaming.
    DPC's are to do with badly behaved *drivers* and so will not show up in the process list, so there is no point to suggest checking that and the CPU useage in taskmanager is too general and does not cover drivers.
    It is not overall CPU stress either, as the drivers are often waiting for an event to happen, they are just delaying other drivers, that's all. DPC's are happening much more often than the blip you see on the CPU %.
    DPC Latency Checker is a good tool to see generally if you have a problem, but now you need to run Latency Mon to find out which drivers are causing the problem:

    Then disable the drivers in device manager until you need them. Simples.
    It is probably your LAN and/or WI-FI drivers that are causing this problem.
    Btw, this is a windows problem not a hardware problem and every system can suffer from it to some degree. When it becomes very noticeable that's when people want to do something about it.
