Tracks in 'Music' are all on wrong albums

Whilst trying to import jpegs for album artwork something's happened to the Music file and many of the tracks are now attributed to the wrong albums.
The playlists I made are unaffected but the mix-up is so bad I'm going to have to wipe it all. It's as though some of the albums have been put through a giant liquidiser and then reassembled in randon fashion. For instance 101 running songs now appear on an album of C15th choral music etc etc. (It's not the view mode that's doing this.)
I'm assuming it's some type of corruption, either in the files or the tracks themselves.
Any tips on how to sort it - I don't really want to have to wipe itunes and start again.

Here's a screenshot. If you can read it you'll see it's album by artist view, except that it isn't.
Rautavaara, album name, has a variety of tracks on it that shouldn't be there, all from other albums. If I go to 'Modern Classical', the playlist I created, Rautavvara is there as it should be, with its 3 tracks on it.
All the albums that are mixed up like this, with completely the wrong tracks on them, are ones on which I attempted unsucessfully to paste album artwork, JPEG format, from google images.
Do you think this might have corrupted the iTunes files or actually the music itself?

However, if what you actually want to do is to fix/sort out your problem, why no try posting a question on that subject?
For starters - you can re-name the tracks in your iTunes library, so it is possible to correct the changes that you must have made that mean that songs are now "unknown artists and albums."

In Music, sometimes an album that has more than one artist, only one shows up, how do I get them all that are all on the album to play in sequence when I select that album?

I can't figure out why, on my ipod touch in Music, when I select some albums that have more than one artist, the whole album doesn't come up to play all together. This happens in some compilations, and only ne song shows up from each artist on the album. Or like on an artist's album that has someone else singing with her. I get that they are on the same line as an artist, but the album is an album, and when you play an album, the whole thing should play - right? Thanks for your help!

Generally all you need do is give tracks from the same album a common Album Artist. See Grouping tracks into albums. The images need an update but the basic info. still holds.

Nevermind. I just renamed the folder on my mac and synced it again and everything is now in its proper place.

I Start a New am so frustrated with problems syncing photos on my iPad. I choose which files to sync but get deleted photos in my albums, my photos are in the wrong albums and the weirdest of all- I now have strange graphics and Facebook photos in albums!

I have spent several hours trying to find a solution to the following problems. After syncing my IPad with ITunes, I end up with photos that I previously deleted in my albums, duplicate photos, albums that have wrong pictures in them and weirdest of all, strange graphics and Facebook photos that are not even mine. Right now I hate this thing!
I have scanned the support forums, Googled it, deleted several photo caches, spent days editing my photo files, checked the specific folders I wanted to sync and it seems like it's not syncing, just adding the same photos and strange crap that it already had on it. Oh please help me!

OK....I'm stumped. The message you are seeing is typically there to protect someone from syncing with a different computer/iTunes account. Is there any way anyone else has used your iPad and possibly connected it to their computer?

The names of Red Hot Chili Peppers Albums Californication and Stadium Arcadium are all doubled (Wrong names to titles)

Could anybody (or admin) help me to solve the problem?

X6 Mass Memory, Music Player all gone wrong

Hi everyone,
I know this problem has been mentioned before but I can't find a definitive answer to the problem.
My X6 keeps freezing and going haywire when transfering music, it's ok for about the first 3gb then it just goes loco, everything beyond that point fails to transfer and when I try to update my music library it freezes up but then the problem just stays there untill I delete all the music from my phone.
this is my second phone the first one did the same thing, I have tried formatting the mass memory and reseting it as advised by the Nokia customer support line but to no avail.
it's a bit worrying as I have around 13gb of music to put on it, I know that seems alot but I did choose the X6 as an alternative to the i-phone, it is after all supposed to be for music.
can anyone help or suggest an alternative phone I can swap it for?

This is probably a hardware fault and it seems that some are experiencing the same with their x6's.
Since everything seems to be deleted you could try a hard reset (this will, when performed successfully, wipe your phone memory). Sometimes it can fix the weirdest things, but I'm pretty sure it won't. However, as the phone is now, I don't think you have anything to lose. If that does not work, you will have to visit a Nokia care point unfortunately, and most likely you will have to. When the computer can't read the memory when connected or even discover the mass storage, that usually means severe troubles, at least if it has worked before (thinking of computer issues, not in your case though)

Photos sync from computer folders, but are in the wrong albums and some photos only appear as a white box?

On my iPad 2, I'm syncing my photos through iTunes from folders on my computer, as I am a photographer and don't like to use iPhoto and not have direct access to my original files.
My photos sync without any hassle, but when viewing them on the iPad half the photos present as white boxes or a half photo/half white screen. I tried resetting iPad as a last measure, I've deleted the photo cache etc, to no avail. In fact, the most recent time I tried it didn't fix the white screen, but also added another issue- my photos now are completely mixed up within the albums. Christmas photos and showing in the Easter album and so on, there seems to be no logic in it! As I was given my iPad last month by my father in laws company, they had bought their stock a while ago and it's now out of AppleCare support - even though I've only used it for a month! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
My Mac is a 1 yr old MacBook pro running snow leopard. My iTunes was the second oldest version, have just updated to most recent version, but it hasn't fixed anything.

Updating to the latest Iphoto release solved this. First time it rebuilt the libraries the pics appeared again.

My settings and music are all gone

a few days ago i decided to go to sleep with some music playing from an itunes radio station and when i woke up all my settings like the dashboard my favorites and screen saver were gone and itunes didnt recognese any of my music. the music was still there in my hard drive but now its gone. what happend nothing else changed i still have all my papers and photos. what happend?

Did you possibly rename your Home folder, the one that has the house icon?

Nano3rdgen Copying playlist from itunes to ipod and it says it can't copy certain songs to ipod cos of file type.These problem songs all from same album, all ACC file type and all copied fine when I copied the album itself few weeks ago-help!

I never laughed in all my life. Here I was, inserting the cd Dance with Me, thinking it's not going to copy the whole thing. yeah, right.
Sure, it prompted me, Do I want to replace the songs, so of course I said "no, don't replace the songs". and guess what it did. It copied the whole cd (at least I got my two songs).
I went into the itunes library, and sure enough, all the songs were there twice. So what did my intelligent brain think of? I just unchecked the doubled songs and stuck my ipod into my computer and it synched up and I got what I wanted.
Now what did I do wrong when it prompted me. I clicked on "don't replace" and it replaced them anyway.
Am I dumb? or is itunes stupid?

Tracks in my albums are all in the wrong order!

Hi, as it turns out I have a problem. Some of my albums on my iPad have all mixed up, the tracks we appear as, instead of in correct order (listed as 1. 2. 3. Well you get the idea), are in the wrong order! Everything was fine before I update to iOS 7, as anybody else had this problem?

iTunes doesn't do multi-level sorts, or rather it doesn't give us users any control over them. Take, for example, the *Album by Year* view and you'll see that is has sub-ordering on quite a few values. In pseudo-SQL it's something like this:
SELECT * FROM Tracks ORDER BY Sort Album Artist, Year (Of 1st Track of Album), Album, Disc #(Empties Last), Track #(Empties Last)
Where there is no Sort Album Artist value it is infered from Album Artist, Sort Artist or Artist. Where there is no Sort Album it is infered from Album.
When you click to sort on the Year column any previous ordering is discarded. If the tracks are in the wrong order then all you can do is click again to change between an ascending or descening sort.

I've purchased several comedy albums on itunes and they're sent to my music file, which I don't like since I like to shuffle all songs. I put the albums in audiobooks but each track is listed seprately instead of by album. Is there a way to fix that?

I've purchased several comedy albums on itunes (or uploaded from my cd collection) and itunes stores them in the music file. I prefer not to have them stored there since I often put my ipod on shuffle all songs and I hate having comedy bits pop up. So I went into "get info" of each track and changed it from music to audiobooks. That transfered everything into audiobooks but when I synched my ipod, I realized that the comedy tracks are all listed individually instead of under their albums. This doesn't work obviously since I want to listen to the album as a whole. I was wondering if there's a way to store my comedy albums in my audiobooks but have them stay in album format. Can anyone help me on this?

go to settings>general>reset>reset home screen layout and see if they appear.

The ""not recognized for on-line use". error is associated with the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to look up and retrieve metadata for CDs. Some users have reported that this error occurs when trying to import from CD, subsequent to upgrading to version 12. A number of slightly different solutions have been reported (though all of a similar nature).
Try walking through the following steps - before starting you may have to enable hidden files and folders to be viewed - in Windows 7 / Windows Explorer select Organize > Folder and search options, then on the View tab make sure that Show hidden files, folders and drives is selected. Without this you won't see the AppData folder in C:\Users\username\
Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
Delete the following files:
CD Info.cidb
com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If this doesn't work:
In iTunes, select Edit > Preferences and make a note (or take a screenshot) of your preferences settings in all relevant tabs
Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
Delete the following file:iTunesPrefs.xml
Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If this second procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1.

Delete any copies of the following files:

Again, if this procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1 of the second procedure. If you're still not able to retrieve CD info:
Exit iTunes
In Windows, select Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features. Find the entry for iTunes, right-click and select Repair.
When this process has finished, restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If none of these have worked (and almost everything I've seen suggests you should be OK by this point), you may have an issue with the installation and configuration of iTunes itself. If you have got this far, see turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for advice on how to remove and replace of all components of iTunes.

Only 0.05 minutes download on each song with the exception of the original song purchase: I Am Beautiful. What needs to be done to solve this problem?

It seems that I have solved my issue by performing a full factory reset (erasing all content, something which I had hoped to avoid) restoring from an iCloud backup did not alleviate the issue, I had to set up as a new iPad.
Hopefully anyone else else who has this issue in the future will be able to find this.
