Tracks repeating in playlists on Connect

Hi there,
I use Spotify connect to play playlists from my phone, and notice that when I play any playlist, it will not play the songs in order, and repeat songs that have played already even when shuffle mode is off. The expected song order would be 1,2,3,4,5 but the typical output is 1,2,1,3,4,2 or something similar.
I use a Beep device as the Connect player, and their tech support said this is a known bug with Spotify Connect. Can it be fixed?

I too have a Beep and have the same/similar problem. I run Spotify connect from my phone or laptop and connect to the Beep. When playing a playlist or radio station it will often repeat tracks and sometimes just get stuck playing the same couple of tracks over and over. If I try and queue tracks it is even worse. For example if I queue tracks 1, 2, 3 ,4 and 5. It will play tracks 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. This seems to have been a problem ever since Spotify introduced the "Play Queue" screen showing "Current Track", "Queued Track" and "Next track". The "Queued Tracks" will list the tracks I have queued, i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. But the "Next Tracks" will list tracks 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.  And that is what plays. This makes queuing absolutely useless. Infact the whole "Current Track", "Queued Track" and "Next track" thing is a complete mess.

    You are doing something wrong, iTunes doesn't add tracks to the library unless you ask it to, so there is a problem somewhere in your workflow which is creating the duplicates. For example, having iTunes set up to "Copy files to the iTunes Media folder when adding to library" and then repeatedly adding in a folder from an external drive would do it.
    Once you've worked out how to stop creating new duplicates you can look at the issue of deduping what you already have. See this recent post for some thoughts and a script that may prove useful.

  • Each track of each playlist is listed.  How do I turn this off?

    I recently bought a new CD and imported the tracks into the iTunes library. (I was not internet connected at the time so I entered track information prior to starting the import).
    After the import completed, I clicked on the leftmost button on the bottom which is supposed to create a new playlist. The display changed to show every track of every playlist that I had. I have so many playlists, that it was very difficult to find the new (unnamed) playlist.
    Why are all my playlists listed track by track and how do I turn off this behavior. Anybody out there who can help with this issue.

    You might have repeat turned on. To turn it of open up your music app and tap the two looping arrows on the left under your song progress meter until they turn white. If that dosent help you might just have to delete your playlist and then rebuild it.

    I have struggles with being able to repeat a playlist since the iTunes update. I haven't been able to find the button that allows you to repeat a playlist.     You can access the repeat options if you right-click on the shuffle icon, or if menus are enabled you can use
    Controls > Repeat > Off | All | One.
    Once the control is visible you can click it to switch between states as before. If the control is turned to off it disappears on the next track change. In contrast the shuffle control remains visible whenever it is appropriate. Hopefully the next release will fix this.

  • Is there a limit to track repeat, or an automatic time-out?

    I have a single track off a white noise cd that I listen to while I sleep to minimize my tinnitus (ear ringing). My current solution is a cd player on repeat, but i thought I could just rip the track I want to mp3 and use itunes instead of the old cd player.
    Question - If I place a track on repeat, does it only repeat for a given number of plays, or does it go on until I stop it. (remember I need about 8hrs of play and the track is 12 minutes)
    Alternate Question - If iTunes has a max on track repeat, then I could alternatively create a playlist consisting of this same track 40 times in a row. My guess is that this would work assuming itunes doesnt have some auto stop feature.
    All of this assumes obviously that my mac is on and running.

    "Repeat One" will repeat the currently playing track endlessly an infinite number of times until you stop it.

    The question is: I absolutely need to disable the automatical progression of the tracks in a playlist. I want that at the end of any track the playback stops, and then I want to decide when to restart from the next track.
    In winamp this is possible, actually I left windows for mac OS X (10.6), but I really need this option for my work.

    Remove the check marks beside all the songs in the list. Unchecked songs have to be clicked on individually to play them, checked songs will play one after the other. Hold down the Command key (⌘) and click on the check box beside any song in a list and the check marks will be toggled on or off: iTunes for Mac - Keyboard Shortcuts

    You can only sync/manually manage with one computer at a time.
    You need to sync the iphone to the new computer ( erasing the current content from the iphone) and replacing content with the new computer.
    Make sure you copy everything from the backup copy of your old computer to the new one.

    It goes by the Track # field, as seen in on a list in iTunes.  So, make sure the Track # field is correctly entered for each song when you review the album on a list in iTunes.  Also, make sure the Album field is entered identically for all the songs on the album.
    You can edit those fields by doing a Get Info on a song, and going to the Info windows's Info tab,

    The tried and true method of right clicking a track, selecting "Add To Playlist" and selecting a playlist no longer works.  There's not response to the end of the process.  I'm just back in the original view of the library.  When I check the playlist, the track hasn't been added.  I don't know what the purpose of the "check box" is but I made sure the original track was checked before attempting the add.
    (I searched for an existing thread here and on the Web but couldn't find where others have posted this issue.)

    The Playlist Folders are a method of grouping Playlists together, making them easier to find. The reason they are shown in the right-click is to make the Playlists easier to find. Look at the screenshot below, all the "Sleep" Playlists are in my "Sleep Time" folder.

  • Delete (as in Trash) a track from a playlist view?

    Because I so despise Apple's new segregated libraries (I'd be okay if I could just shift a few tracks from one auto(cratic) category to another without major effort), I am toying with creating smart playlists of my various genres to ease my browsing. The problem is, there isn't any way (that I know of) to delete a track from a playlist. And I mean delete as in "remove from the library, ask me if I want to move it to the trash" delete, not "remove from the playlist" delete.
    Does anyone know of a way to do this (easily)?
    It almost seems like a philosophical issue -- I mean, why isn't there a "trash" option in the contextual menu for a track wherever I'm viewing it? There's a clear logic for deleting a track from a regular playlist meaning that it is only removed from that playlist, but left in the library. But in a smart playlist, when I hit delete, I can't remove it from the playlist -- delete has no functionality. I noticed this when playing with iFlicks, which does let you trash a video while viewing it in a smart playlist -- which intuitively made sense to me.
    I honestly only go into the library view when I need to throw things out anyway, so having it segregated (and unpredictably, since it's based on filetype rather than genre -- i.e. underlying and indeterminant format, rather than conceptual and -- hopefully -- determinant metadata) makes it hard to predict where a track may end up.

  • ITunes becomes unresponsive when tracks added to playlist

    I've had trouble with iTunes (10.3.1) for a long time. When I add tracks to a playlist iTunes often becomes unresponsive for a few minutes, even if it's just a couple of short tracks (mp3s), and sometimes it doesn't recover and has to be forced quit.
    I have the Sound Check option unchecked. My library is around 49,000 tracks.
    Any ideas?

    I'd love an answer to this, too. Running itunes 10.1.1.4 and iOS 4 on a 3GS phone. I haven't upgraded to iOS 4.2 because the original update to 4 was a disaster.

  • Rearrange order of tracks in a playlist

    I have a playlist that I've added songs to, and rearranged by dragging the tracks into different orders. At some point I clicked one of the column titles (Track, Artist, Album..) and it was reorganized by that label. I can no longer drag tracks into a particular order. Is there a way to restore the playlist to that original order that I was editing before?

    To add a track to a playlist, you can right-click on it and choose a playlist from the "Add to" option, or just drag it to the correct playlist on the left. 
    If you're looking at a playlist, you can drag the tracks around to re-order it. If a track won't move, make sure that your playlist isn't in some predefined order like sorted alphabetically or by date added. If there's an arrow next to any of the column labels, click that label until there is no arrow anymore. You should be able to drag tracks to new locations in the playlist now.
