I recently received an ipad2 and when I tried to sync using separate apple and iTunes passwords, under her computer user name, it appears I over-road her account and synced all her apps with my apps on my iPad. I then set myself up as a new user on our computer and tried to sync. I now get the error that my iPad is synced to another library. How can I start over without erasing all my data on the iPad?

Go back to her login. Unless you deliberately erased apps, they should all be there, both yours and hers! Then, you need to set up each iPad separately. You will notice that they have separate names for that very purpose.
There is no problem with multiple Apple IDs on the same iTunes on the same computer except... Apps are permanently associated with the ID that was originally used to obtain them. If you choose to update an app from inside iTunes and you're logged into the "wrong" ID, you must log out and back in again.
On the bright side, you can configure either or both iPads to sync with apps and music and movies, etc. from either or both IDs. Further, if you choose to update the apps from the iPads themselves, there is no need to log out/in. The device handles that. All you need is the correct password. In my case, I use the same password for both IDs to make things easier.

All ipad apps are not neccessarily compatible with iphone. There are some universal apps.

Generally, no. You have 2 weeks from purchase. But you have options. Www.gazelle.com will make you an offer. Sell it to them, then go buy what you want. What is the issue? Just trading for a different machine will get you only what you had in the first place.

Apple themselves don't do trade-ins. Depending upon what country that you are in you might find other stores that do, but you will probably get a higher price for your iPad 2 by selling it privately (e.g. to a family member, friend, local advert etc) than you would doing a trade-in at a store.

There are some very nice features in iPad2, but whether they'd mean much to you is up to you. You could get a best buy voucher if you wanted to trade your iPad in there, but it would be very small in comparison to just selling your iPad yourself. Apple won't trade you up. They're not in the trade-in business. But, if I were you, I'd wait a few more months. If history repeats itself, the next generation iPad will likely be announced in the March time frame (again, if history repeats). If you get iPad 2 now and in 4 months a newer version is announced, you might feel it would have been worth waiting.

If I buy the iPad 3rd generation tomorrow if they are out of the 4th generation by the time I get there, can I still trade it in for a 4th generation iPad when they become available again even though I bough it on the 4th generation launch day? I am very impatient and I have waited many months while I saved up my money to get one and now that the 4th generation is out I figured I should just get that instead of an older one.

If you buy the old 'new' ipad and then return it, Apple reseller stores might have a no return policy because it is a discontinued product. Given that you saved money for a new ipad, if you can't get one tomorrow, save a little longer and buy one with more memory than you planned, because you cannot increase that.
Can you get to a store before they open tomorrow? Check store websites to see when they go on sale. Or can you now order an ipad 4 on-line at Apple. Then, if you buy one tomorrow, cancel the on-line order.
There has been no announcement that the ipad 2 is also being discontinued, yet the old 'new' ipad is discontinued. That says something. If you have to wait, I suggest you do that to get an ipad with a faster processor and hopefully avoid the wi-fi connection problem that some have had with the old 'new' ipad.

Well, I think my answer was more accurate. The answer is yes rather than no. Also, the fee you mention must only be a possible fee. Given that the original iPad was only launched 14 months ago, odds are good the OP is still under warranty.

You describe restoring and updating, but have you restored your iPad from Recovery Mode?
These instructions http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 should also include your 1st gen iPad.
If you are still unsuccessful, it might be time to buy a new one. Apple does have a donation program, but I don't think they have a trade in program for old equipment.
