My iPod mini doesn't work anymore. I heard that you can trade in your old mini and pay less for a nano. Is this true?

Apple don't offer this kind of trade in. They have a recycling program in place that gets you 10% off the price of a new iPod if you hand in your old one at the time of purchase. You can do this (I believe) at any Apple store.
However, you may think that your iPod is worth more than 10% off the cost of a new one, and perhaps want to sell it on eBay instead.
There are sites such as Small Dog Electronics that do have a trade in policy for iPods.

Mini to imac upgrade

I have a late 2012 mini, with dual core i5. I am in need of more computing power. My dad has offered me to trade my mini for his 27" late 2013 iMac with a quad core i5.
I have two 128 GB Samsung 840 Pro SSDs in my mac mini. One for the system drive, the other for Logic Pro X projects. I would very much like to continue using these SSDs. However, I do *not* want to go through the hassle of installing them inside the iMac if possible. Rather, I would prefer to mount them in a Thunderbolt enclosure (such as the Akitio Neutrino Thunder Duo) and run them externally. I understand I will likely not get the full potential of the drives with this configuration. I am okay with that. I have read that it is possible to have your system drive in an external configuration.
I am just unsure of what the best process is for making this happen. What do I need to do with the system drive in my Mac mini? Do I need to start from scratch with it, in order to make it the system drive for the iMac? Or can I just install it in the Thunderbolt enclosure and tell the iMac to use it as the system drive?

That should work, although you may have to start/restart holding down the option/alt key to select it. Some people have posted external drives don't show up in System Preferences/Startup Disk.

IPOD MINIS

Since Ipod minis are being fazed out can we trade the minis in for a more updated one?

Apple don't do trade-ins. At the store however you can get 10% off the price of a new iPod if you hand in your old mini. Worth it? No.
Sell it on eBay.

Loading iWork onto a new machine

Is it possible to uninstall iWork 08 from my current machine & put it on a new MacBook? I want to trade my mini for a MacBook.

It is possible to un-install iWork. But if you are giving away or selling your Mac mini then I recommend you to clean the hard drive so no one can retrieve any private or sensitive information. To do that (after you transfer your files to your new MacBook or back up your files on another hard drive), put in the DVD that came with your computer and restart your computer from that DVD. Go to Disk Utility to erase the internal hard drive. Now about iWork, don't worry about it if you erase the hard drive.

Why am I being told I can't "Bring Your Own Device"?

They don't even use terminology like "select devices", but when I have tried bringing my HTC DNA which was released in Nov 2012, they tell me that it isn't compatible with the prepaid 4g plans. Yet the new G3 and some newer phones, and some older phones I can trade in mine to get $60 and buy one of those instead. I asked online, and on a call and people have told me I shouldn't have a problem using the $45 prepaid plan with my HTC DNA, but my local store tells me I can't. I'm not under contract, and my phone is inactive atm so its not anything like that. Anybody have any suggestions or insight?

Factory Defaults in Mac Mini and Possible Trade-Up?

I have questions that have probably been answered or maybe not, so I'm sorry in advance.
I'd like to restore my Mac Mini to its factory defaults. Since I'm a Windows-user-almost-turned-Mac-user, I'm still learning, but it's just difficult for me. The reason I'd like to do this is so that I can hopefully sell it and eventually buy a Macbook with the money I get on it.
That being said, I'd also like to ask if there is possibly a way I can bring my Mac Mini to, say, a local Apple Store and "trade up" to a Macbook--and pay whatever difference with cash. Again, I'm very new to this, so thank you all for your forebearance.

Easy enough to do, insert the install disc, restart the Mac and hold the C key down. You can select erase and install, which wipes everything out, or archive and install which preserves your home folder.

If you are in the 14 day purchase period then yes you can do a return/purchase. After that no, and in fact I don't know any computer company that will let you trade up to another model after you go beyond the return period.
The mini and Macbook are nearly identical in specs and the speed difference in the mini's clock rate is minimal. If you need a portable solution I suggest you purchase the Macbook as opposed to the mini. I own both and I'm very pleased with both of them and I think either one you buy will be a great computer to work and play with

No. Apple doesn't do trade ins.
They do have a recycle program which will offer you something for it but you can probably do better selling it on your own.

Depending on where you live, places like Best Buy and Amazon have or at least had programs where you can sell them your device for store credit that you can use towards the purchase of another device. How much you get depends on the condition of your device. There are also online places like Gazelle that do the same.
Something to explore (in my experience you will get less from Best Buy but you can literally walk in, trade it in and walk out in a short period of time)

IPod mini - iPod Nano trade?

I was just wondering is apple would trade my 1st gen 4Gb mini for a 4 Gb nano when i send it back for service as the click wheel is not working, or if i would need to pay some sort of difference?

Your warrenty is 1 year regardless, unless you bought the applecare program. You can't trade So, i'm selling my dad my mini and getting a 30GB with christmas money!

I think Apple will do a buy back but you only get 10% off your next purchase. I would try selling it on Ebay. You'll get a better price. Just make sure and clear off all your stuff and lock it from your computer so the person buying it can use it. Then use the money to buy your iPad mini. Hope this helps, Good luck.
