Traditional Chinese Charaters ??

Squares, not traditional Chinese characters, are displayed in the message box after running a java program, just like the previous version of JDeveloper. Quite inconvenient.

First make sure iTunes is set up for Traditional Chinese in preferences:

  • Simplified chinese vs Traditional chinese.

    Hi!
    I'm doing a java application which displays some chinese characters. These chinese characters can either be in Simplified chinese format or Traditional chinese format. I use unicode to get these chinese characters and store them into a hashmap in unicode format.
    The question is: if a chiense character has 2 form, one in simplified and the other traditional, when convert to unicode. Are they suppose to have the same unicode value or 2 different values to represent them in 2 forms?
    Appreciated you guys for taking time to read this. Hope that you all can reply asap,
    -KAren-

    Hi Karen,
    as mentioned in my other reply... ;-)
    Yes, they will use the same Unicode value.
    Traditional and Simplified differ in two ways, really.
    1) Traditional covers a lot more charaters - 4E00 right up to 9FFF. That's over 20000 characters.
    I'm not quite sure which Unicode number Simplified stops at, but I know its range is much smaller, probably around 8000 characters (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!). Both Traditional and Simplified start their range at 4E00, so both know how to display the first 8000 characters (or whatever) after this.
    2) The two encodings will display their Kanji slightly differently. Traditional-encoded Kanji generally appear more rounded and calligraphic. Simplified Kanji usually look like they've just come off a Chinese typewriter. ;-)
    Also, the Kanji may have a stroke or two added or removed here and there between the two encodings (so the odd dash might appear in one and not the other), or the stroke order of the Kanji may change slightly, resulting in them appearing slightly differently.
    Of course, this is pretty much all down to the way the fonts display the Kanji anyway, but I find that fonts that support the full Traditional encoding range are more rounded (MingLiU, PMingLiU), while those that support only the Simplified range look very rectangular and blocky (SimHei, SimSun). But that might just be me. ;-D
    You should choose between Traditional and Simplified encoding depending on whether you're going to be using a pretty broad range of Kanji (including a few rarely-used ones), and whether you want your Kanji to look pretty or just plain functional. ;-)
    Hope that helps!

  • Localization problem: Traditional Chinese is not working for Taiwan App Store

    I have published an app that has three languages:
    (1) English (as Primary)
    (2) Simplified Chinese
    (3) Traditional Chinese
    I expect I can see Simplified Chinese in China App Store and Traditional Chinese in Taiwan App Store.
    I found out it works well for Simplified Chinese case.
    However, for Traditional Chinese, it's always English in Taiwan App Store. I have tried so many devices (with language setting to Traditional Chinese). I even went to a local Internet Cafe (so all computers are with Traditional Chinese setting), it's still English for Taiwan App Store.
    From iTunes Connect, when I go to "Version Summary" where I can change the "Territory" there. I always see English for Taiwan Territory while it's always Simplified Chinese when China is selected.
    From all the experiments I've done, I really think there is something wrong in App Store or iTunes to link Traditional Chinese with Taiwan App Store.
    How to report this kind of bug to Apple & have them examine this issue?

    Unfortunately you have already done everything we can possibly instruct you to do.. at this point the only option is getting them to exchange it its under warranty its not working you have to get a exchange

  • After the newest update, i can no longer type in traditional chinese ( pin yin), does anyone else have the same problem?

    after the newest update ( iso 7) , i can no longer type in traditional chinese ( pin yin), does anyone else have the same problem?

    I downloaded and tried EasyFind. It works but it took 30+ seconds to complete finding 3 files that are on One of my Five 25+ Gb partitions of my 130 Gb Seagate Cuda(Really 160 Gb, but my Sawtooth will only recognize 130) I figured that if I ever got a better box, I could reformat it to see the whole 160 Gb. So, as far as I can see, Spotlight's indexing scheme which finds the files instantly is probably preferable. Spot light allows you to rename your files from within it's app window. I've always thought that was pretty powerful. Could my doing so be causing me any issues? As i said it is the inability to Type in the Finder that seemed to be caused from changing file Extentions that were mis-written. Maybe it was a delayed reaction to my renaming files in the Spotlight app? I've done both on occasion.
    As for these .DS_Store files. Apparently you can NOT stop them from being written to any folder that you touch/open/view during a days session. But, as a function of the OS, are the essential to have in their respective folders Forever? I've looked at the .DS_Store terminator app briefly and assume that getting rid of these files won't hurt the regular operation of my OS. They will just be re-written if I ever have to go back to any particular folder again. But, apparently, some have said that if the plan on burning a CD or DVD of their data, they delete the .DS_Store files first and then do the burn.
    I'm thinking from your having suggested this tremination app that you suspect that my having all of these ,DS_Store files could be a situation where any of them could have become corrupted and terminating them regularly should be part of my regular maintenance.
    Does that sound like I'm understanding what I can do?
    TIA

  • I cannot install latest itunes to my Sony notebook which is running on traditional chinese windows 7 64-bit, the error message is something like unrecognized windows package, can any one help me or has similar experience? Thanks.

    I cannot install latest itunes to my Sony notebook which is running on traditional chinese windows 7 64-bit, the error message is something like unrecognized windows package, can any one help me or has similar experience? Thanks.

    iTunes 9.0.x is certainly compatible with Win7 64 bit since I use that exact setup on 3 different PCs. Two suggestions for your installation problems:
    1)Download a new copy of the 64 bit installer from Apple then, instead of just running the itunes installer right click on it and try 'run as adminstrator'. In my experience that clears up a world of problems with program installation in Win7 and Vista. This is necessary even if you're already logged in as an administrator.
    2) Try the previous version of iTunes (9.0.3). You can get a copy at http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=54 again right click on the file and "run as administrator"
    Good luck, hope this helps.

  • Display problem when reading Traditional Chinese in Crystal Report 2008

    Hi All,
    I have tried to connect MS SQL 6.5 to build up a report. However, I encounter a problem when read Traditional Chinese. all chinese characters turn into adnormal characters. I wonder it is problem of SQL Server or some setting that I may not know. In addition, I can able to read chinese in the application program , ISQL / Query Analyzer. Please help to give idea and suggestion to fix this. Thanks
    SQL Server: MS SQL Server  6.5
    Client OS: Window XP ( Traditional Chinese Version)
    Server OS: Window NT and Window Server 2000

    Hi
    If you are using a Chinese language build database, Crystal Reports English build might not display the characters properly as non english databases include one byte characters as ASCII code character and double-byte characters as their own language code character.
    Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese (Kanji, Hiranga, and Katakana), Korean and Vietnamese use double-byte characters.
    However, a possible workaround to this issue is to verify that the encoding on the database client is configured according to the examples below. Also, you will need to install the language pack in the English environment.
    CONFIGURATION EXAMPLES:
    Shift-JIS for a Japanese database
    Big5 for a Traditional Chinese database
    GB2312 for a Simplified Chinese database
    iso-2022-kr for a Korean database
    Windows 1258 for a Vietnamese database
    EXAMPLE SCENARIO:
    An Oracle database saves non-English language data such as Japanese.
    The Windows operating system is English.
    STEP TO CONFIGURE THE CHARACTER CODE IN THE ENVIRONMENT SETTING
    (This step is based on the details of the EXAMPLE SCENARIO.)
    1. Configure the system environment on the database client side to 'Shift-JIS' as the character code set in the Environment Setting.
    This results in the NLS_LANG variable set to Japanese_Japan.JA16SJIS under the registry HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Oracle\Homeo.
    STEPS TO INSTALL LANGUAGE PACK IN AN ENGLISH ENVIRONMENT
    (These steps are based on the details of the EXAMPLE SCENARIO.)
    1. Add languages to the computer system by clicking:
    Control Panel > Regional Options > General
    2. Select the check box for 'Traditional Chinese', 'Simplified Chinese', 'Japanese', 'Korean' or 'Vietnamese'.
    3. Click 'Apply'.
    4. When you are prompted, insert the Windows CD-ROM to install the language pack.
    5. Restart the computer.
    Upon completing these steps, you are able to display the languages characters in the Crystal Reports Designer in a Windows English environment.
    ==========
    NOTE:
    If the database table and field names use non-English language characters, Data Explorer in CR will not correctly display these names. However, when you preview the report, the non-English data displays correctly.
    ==========
    Configuring the database client according to the examples and installing the language pack will display the characters successfully. However, there are cases when this workaround does not resolve the issue.
    For further information about CR and double-byte languages, refer to knowledge base articles, c2008083 and c2008349.
    Hope this helps!!!

  • Does MuVo N200 fully support Traditional Chinese charact

    I wonder if MuVo Micro N200 sold in the UK fully support Traditional Chinese character and some Asian languages such as Japanese(both in showing MP3 file/song name and in user interface)?
    Or, I can only get UK-spec N200 and it only shows English/European Languages?

    No, the unicode support have bugs for reading the id3 tags.
    Some characters are missed sometimes.
    Its no good.

  • Nls_lang for psp with Traditional Chinese

    I have two Oracle environments:
    1. Oracle 817 on Windows 2000 (eng) with Traditional Chinese as default locale, and
    2. Oracle 816 on Solaris with Oracle 9iAS portal.
    in both environment, I wanted to create a simple page as follows:
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Welcome</title>
    <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=big5">
    </head>
    <body>
    <h3>Welcome to this page</h3>
    Welcome Here
    </body>
    </html>
    If I put this page under a virtual directory of Apache, the client browser would change the encoding to Traditional Chinese (Big 5) if "Auto-Select" is selected in encoding. Now, I try to put this in a psp. The page comes up with encoding change to "Western European (ISO)". I view the source from the page and it is just the same as the one under a virtual directory of Apache.
    Why does this happen?
    How can I make the client browser change to "Traditional Chinese (Big 5)" encoding?
    I tried to set the NLS_LANG before using loadpsp but that didn't make any difference. Any idea?

    Do you mean that I will have problem later if I don't change the database character set?Yes , definitely. What you are doing is storing invalid multibyte characters into a single byte database. So each double byte BIG5 characters are being treated as 2 separate WE8ISO8859P1 (Latin1) characters. You are using an unsupported but common garbage in garbage out approach, so in that sense you are using Oracle as a garbage container :) .
    Let's look at some of the issues that you are going to have :-
    All SQL Functions are based on the property on the database character set WE8ISO8859P1. So LENGTH(), SUBSTR (), INSTR (), UPPER(), NLS_UPPER etc .. will yield incorrect results . For example a column with one BIG5 character and one ASCII character will return a length of 3 characters rather than 2 characters. And if you want to locate a specific character in a mix ASCII and BIG5 string using the SUBSTR() it will be very difficult, because to Oracle the string consists of all single byte Latin1 characters, it will not skip 2 bytes for a BIG5 character. Even if you don't have mix strings, you will need to have one routine for handling ASCII only and another for BIG5 strings.
    Invalid Data conversion , if your need to talk to another db using dblink say ,all the character conversion will be based on Latin1 to the target database character set mapping, so the receiver will lose all the source BIG5 characters and will get 2 Latin1 characters for each BIG5 char instead .
    Export and Import will have identical problems, character set conversion are performed during these operations, so all BIG5 characters will be lost. This also means that you can not load BIG5 data into your current DB using IMPORT or SQLLOADER without data corruption ...

  • Captivate 5.5 pasted Traditional Chinese characters don't render correctly

    Hi,
    I've been trying to cut-and-paste Traditional Chinese characters from PowerPoint (where they render perfectly) into Captivate, but they only get rendered partially. Here is an example
    From PPT:

    What could be going on here? Obviously, the Win7 system can render the characters correctly, but why don't they all display in Captivate?

  • Substring formula problem for Traditional Chinese

    Dear all,
    I created two InfoObjects (type: character, length: 60)in order to load one field with 100 characters from R/3. I created formula in transfer rule using "Substring" function for each of the two InfoObjects (e.g. Substring(field_name, 0, 60) and Substring(field_name, 60, 40). The data is in Traditional Chinese and both R/3 and BW are Unicode verison. The first InfoObject seems always get less than 60 characters, but the second InfoObject get 40 characters correctly. When I use English data to test, both InfoObjects get correct legnth of data. Does anyone come across this problem before? Thanks a lot.

  • Convert simplified to traditional chinese

    Hi,
    I have a .html file created be FrontPage. The encoding was automatically set to Windows1252 (I did not pay attention). I did not change it. I can manually edit it to include Chinese characters, without problem. But the Chinese characters in the files are special code, something like:
    &#26377;&#19977;&#20010;&#37096;&#20998;
    There is not problem to edit them or showing them using FrontPage, or FireFox. But&#65292; now, I want to convert them from simplified Chinese characters to traditional ones. There are many tools to convert Chinese chars, but they do not convert &#26377 in html files.
    Where can I find the mapping table for these kind of coding?
    Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.You have a character set 1 and a character set 2. You assume that you have a character that is in set 1 which also has a representation in set 2.
    If in fact there is such a mapping then you simply look for the characters in the source, look the mapping up, and the write out to a new location replacing the old character (data) with the new.
    The first step of course is identifying explicitly what character set 1 and set 2 are. Then you find something that has a full representation of each of those. And then you map, manually, from one to the other.
    Note that in the above there is in fact the possiblity that there is no mapping. And actually since it appears that you have used tools that map many characters but not this one then it is likely that this is exactly the case.
