Hi dennishr
OVI maps on the N900 is now the poor relation compared with S60 5th + Symbian^3 OS versions with no voice navigation or traffic information unfortunately.

• How do I get a calendar notification with travel time/traffic info?

Hi everybody,
I saw an IOS 8 screenshot showing a calendar reminder in the lock screen that not only showed the upcoming calendar event info, but also said something like "to be in time, you should leave at 11:31". On the web page showing that screenshot, it was also said that this travel time info takes the current traffic info into account.
When I add a calendar event, I'm setting the proper event address plus the travel time option based on my location, and I'm also setting a calendar alert to something like "Notify me 1h prior leaving time". And actually, I'm getting that notification - but without that neat info when to leave exactly (which seems to include the current traffic info as said above)!
To be clear, I'm not talking about the traffic conditions WIDGET. This works flawlessly on my iPhone 5s with IOS 8. I'm talking about a lock screen calendar reminder that included the time to leave for an appointment!
I'm inserting the screenshot here (it's actually in German as I am from Germany):
Can anybody help on how to get those calendar reminders?
Best,
Gero

Hello gerofromronnenberg
To see that information, you would need to swipe down to bring up Notification Center to bring up the time that you should need to leave your current location.

• No Traffic Info

Hi,
Since upgrading to 2.0 and 2.0.1, my phone will not display traffic information when searching for a route. Any ideas?
Cheers

> It's a feature on the here.com website and in HERE Drive on the Lumia
It seems the traffic services for different brands, models and OSes are all different... I thought they should be sharing the same back-end services as there is no point for Nokia to make things complicated and waste server resources doing duplicate things.
That's basically why I never thought the live traffic info could be no longer available on Symbian device thought the OS is dead in the market.
> but it's unclear to me if the traffic info is used for route calculation, or more
I don't think by default traffic info is used for route calculation, it should be by design. However, traffic info can be used for diverting suggestions.

• [Nokia Drive + Beta] Traffic Info

Hi,
Can someone explain me how works the traffic info in Nokia Drive? I mean, I see no option to activate/deactivate it. Does it allow to change the route according to traffic? Can we setup this?
Thanks

HI,
O.P. I had the same question until this afternoon after work J apparently you must have a programmed route to get the updates. I wanted to go to the closest local grocer and when I programmed it there is a new screen (Pic #01) that says “loading traffic”, then a subsequent screen if you wait long enough that gives you the trip time and delay (Pic #02). Oh, and there is also now an option to get the direction list like Waze did (pic #03).
No legend as to the colour meanings but it appears as if it is the standard red, yellow, orange, etc.
Have fun, and watch out ofr that jerk who does not use signals

• N95 Traffic info "not supported"?

Hi all
Have an N95 8gb
Recently upgraded to the latest version of map, which I think is much better, and quicker.
I also added the Traffic option however, everytime I try to get traffic info I get the message "Not supported by your current map data"
Any ideas?
Thanks

Never come across this before but just in case the problem is caused by you not having the latest map data, you should try downloading the latest map data using Nokia Map Loader.

• Traffic info covered by route in Maps

In the new Maps in iOS 5, the route is covering the traffic information. How can I make the route a bit transparent (like it was in previous version) or at least turn off and on the route to see the traffic info?

Bump. Living in LA, the Maps app is one of my most used app because of the traffic information. With the route overlayed on the traffic info, this is almost useless unless I take out the route everytime. I hope this gets fixed!

• Traffic Info ...

How often is the Google Maps traffic info as viewed on the iPhone updated? Thus far its been pretty poor at being accurate here in San Diego. I assume because the information is not updated frequently enough.
Thanks

Did some searching and was unable to find the answer on how often the traffic data is updated, but I did find this:
"Perhaps the service that would seem to promise the most in terms of this type of traffic service is provided by Google. But, and for reasons that remain unexplained, Google's traffic data, at least in the Seattle area, is horrendously unreliable. The same seems true of many other providers of freeway data, and our conclusion is that to get accurate freeway data you either need to go direct to the major source of the data - ie, the local or state department of transportation, or to Trafficgauge, who uniquely seem to add value to the base data instead of somehow and perplexingly mangle the data and subtract value from it, as is the case with most of their competitors."

• Traffic info - is it only roadworks?

I'm using the traffic info service here in the UK with Mpas 2.0 on my N82.
It doesn't seem to provide any real-time (or even semi-real-time) update of actual traffic problems though - it only seems to be roadworks information.
Can anyone else in the UK corroborate this?
Does the same thing apply worldwide?
Anyone know of any plans to change it?
Thanks

This is not a feature that I use, but it claims to be 'realtime' so it should give you information on all traffic issues, though this relies on data being provided to update the information - which will vary depending on where you are and what the quality of local traffic information is.

• IPhone Map Traffic info

Where does the Maps traffic information come from. Yesterday I was in the Seattle area and the iPhone Maps showed stop and go traffic (red) on I-5 near downtown Seattle, but I was going through that area and it was totally uncongested. Why would it have been so wrong? And on the radio the traffic reporter was saying the area was clear, and I understand they get the Washington State DOT data. Doesn't the iPhone Map use the same information? Does anyone know if there is something I should have done or iPhone Maps just super-delayed.

Actually, I find it pretty useful. In Goergia, google get's it from GerogiaNavigator.com which is operated by GDOT. The Google info shows information for more interstates than the DOT. It's more reliable than the DOT's own site.

• General problems with Traffic info

I purchased a 1 year license for trafic info Benelux + on nokia maps
Each time traffic reports a congestion it interprets it as a problem in BOTH directions.
Yesterday I was advised to take another route because of a 11 Km traffic jam which was on the other side of the road.
Anyone experienced this as well?

• Is there Any way to get TomTom Traffic info From 3G

Having purchased the 3Gi phone and being assured it is compatable with TomTom Go 720 I was gutted to find that a great phone does not support Tom Tom traffic inf & Updates. Great Phone, Great Sat Nav,No Compatability. Whats Going On!! My previuos "SIMPLE" little Sony ericsson K510i did the job well, Now what do I Do , Sling the iphone? Apple and TomTom "have" to give us a solution as many others will get caught out owning two good products!!

The iPhone is compatible with many PNDs that support Bluetooth, but only for hands free operation (speaker phone so you don't have to hold the iPhone to drive). That is the only connectivity allowed by bluetooth, and that works with the Tom Tom.
The Tom Tom can not use your wireless network to fetch data via bluetooth (or a wired connection for that matter), because access to the Edge/3G data network by devices attached to the iphone is restricted by ATT.
Currently, the only traffic service available for TomTom devices in the USA utilizes a data connection on a mobile phone to retrieve the traffic information. However that service is difficult to use for many people because there are only a handful of compatible phones and compatible phone data plans from carriers here in the USA. However it appears that is soon about to change as it looks like TomTom will soon unveil a RDS-TMC traffic solution in the USA. So what is the advantage of this type of delivery? Instead of relying on a (sometimes costly) data plan from your phone carrier, this service receives information over radio waves through a special antenna.

• OT - Viewing third party's website traffic info?

I suppose this is really OT.
Obviously if we have our own site we can monitor very
specific details of users, however does any way exist to see
general information (eg traffic volume / site hits, etc) on third
party sites which we have no control over or involvement with?
Thanks for your help
and best wishes over the festive season

• N95-8GB speed camera and traffic info ??

Does anyone know if you can add on speed camera and traffic information onto the navigation software pre-loaded for use on the N95 8GB ??

I asked the same question a week or so ago here with no reply
I emailed nokia for an answer and had the following reply
"Thank you for emailing Nokia Care.
In response to your enquiry, Nokia N95 8GB does not support the speed camera software.
Kind regards,
Bhanu
Nokia Care"
shame as its the only thing holding me back from making the full purchase

• Accessing Highway Traffic Info

Warning! This is a stupid newbie question! My smart phone (Motorola Droid 3) is much smarter than I am!
I recently downloaded an app from our state Dept. of Transportation that gives road conditions, alerts, etc. But I can't figure out how to get the data to load when I'm "on the road" (meaning away from home, NOT driving). The app displays "loading..." for all types of information, but never actually loads it. Turning on wireless makes no difference. Is there another setting I should use? Is this a matter of not having a certain feature on my account?
Additional information: This feature works from my home and from my work place, but I couldn't get it to load at my nephew's house even though I was connected to his wifi network. I'd like to be able to use it from a restaurant, shopping mall, etc.
Thanks for your patience with my ignorance!

From what you describe, you may not have the location services (GPS) turned on so the phone doesn't know where you are. I'm not familiar with your phone, but there probably is a setting for location and security. This is where you turn on the GPS service/s.
You mention wireless not making a difference. When you are on the road, you are probably not close enough to a wireless hotspot to use wireless.

• Apple map does not show traffic

Since switching to apple maps from google maps no traffic colors show on map

I noticed new map show no color at all when it's not slow or jammed.
It use to be ( in Google map)
No color= no data( don't know jammed or not)
Green = no jam
Amber= slow
Red= stop&go
Now we don't know if "traffic okay" or "no data" because those are same "no color"
If nothing show on your map, it could be no traffic jam(red) nor slow(amber).
Try checking it on rush hour.
I can't trust new map's traffic info because it could be " no data" could be smooth driving.
