Training database localisation and impact on upgrading

Dear Experts/Gurus,
I have a problem to define or to find out what localisation used in training database and what are the impact if I upgrade it because when I open it using choose from company, the version is 680119 meanwhile the other database 680319.
I appreciate your answer. TIA
Rgds,

Hi Steve,
You can find the localization in field CINF.LawsSet.
Not sure what you mean with "impact if I upgrade"; an upgrade should be a normal process...

Frank

    We have completed to upgrade ERP database from 9.2.0.6 to 11.2.0.1 and also apply ATG 7 on Test instance.
    And user finish testing , there is no issue after upgrade and application can work as normal.
    On Test instance we didn't implement Single Sign On
    But on Production we have Single Sign ON.
    Now we plan to upgrade on Production instance. But we afraid that we will found any issue on Production relate to SSO. Becase we don't have a chance to test it.
    My question is:
    Are there any spacial step we need to do if we have implemented SSO After upgrade DB 11g and ATG 7?

  • Database Daemon and SyncServicesAgent won't close so I can't upgrade software. Any advice?

    Microsoft Database Daemon and SyncServicesAgent won't close when trying to install software update. How do I do this?

    A message to quit applications occurs in Office for Mac
    If you see a message to "quit the following applications"  while installing an update for Microsoft Office for Mac  (See image) , click Continue, and then quit the applications listed in the message. To quit an application, click its name on the Apple menu bar, and then click Quit <application name> or press COMMAND Q. You can also quit an application if it has an icon in the Dock by pressing the CONTROL key, clicking the icon, and then clicking Quit.
    You'll also have to turn off Sync Services in Outlook. To do this, start Outlook, click Outlook > Preferences, and then choose Sync Services under Other. Uncheck all boxes and then quit Outlook.
    You should now be able to install the update for Office.
    NOTE The message to quit applications may also appear if you're installing Microsoft Office for Mac. Follow the same steps to quit the applications before you install Office.

  • Possible Issues with Duplicate Training Database?

    Hello everyone!
    First off, please forgive my ignorance! I've only been working with databases lightly over the last couple of years, and thus far only with MySQL and MS SQL.
    Recently the company I work for purchased a new software package that required Oracle. We purchased a copy of Oracle 10.2 as part of the deal and the company that sold it to us, and set it up for us, has denied us dev access to the database, on our server, because it would expose their underlying data schema. I wasn't in change when the decision was made and we spent the money on a crippled copy of Oracle, but that's in the past.
    Because we don't have dev access to Oracle we're unable to create a training database for this new software in house. We have to pay this company to create a test environment for us. I was told it would cost $500, until the tech said he was going to install Oracle on our training server.
    At this point I stopped him and said at $500 they'll either be breaching their licensing agreement, or giving us a free copy! The other possibility is that they were going to install this and then just bill us for Oracle later on, despite quoting the job at $500.
    The tech who was about to do the installation went to check with someone more senior and then returned to inform me that installing the second copy of Oracle would indeed require more licensing fees.
    This verified what I already had told him, and I said we want a training database on our existing Oracle server, and then training copies of the new software can just point to that training database.
    He now needs to take time with the more senior technicians while they're "analyzing the existing database server/environment". He was trying to talk me out of installing a training database on the existing server, and instead buying another copy of Oracle, which I believe to be a total cash grab. He had no solid reason why he couldn't do it, but refused to anyway and said he needs to talk to a more senior tech (the same one who said that yes, we'll need to purchase a second copy of Oracle rather than use a second database on the existing server).
    So, these two databases, one live data and one a duplicate of that live data used in a training environment where changes won't be reported against, should be able to exist peacefully should they not? The same version of the same software accessing the same data from the same server, just a different database, shouldn't present any problems with my limited knowledge of Oracle! There will only ever be maybe 5 connections to the training environment at a time, and the server should be able to currently handle twice as many users connected as it's current maximum (edit: expected) load.
    I know this wouldn't be a problem with MySQL, or MS SQL, and Oracle is a superior database package, so can anyone think of any legitimate reason that might back up the claim that having that duplicate database will be a problem?
    Thanks in advance for any guidance here!

    Thank you very much John!
    We have a per user license and I don't expect our training needs to exceed even a half dozen people at a time to start (A small, significant, fraction of the initial user base). In the future we can easily recommission other resources, or purchase more. The whole project is in the earlier stages anyway, so the needs are smaller now (but the money we spend on licensing could be recurring).
    I understand the requirements angle from a server perspective, but those points you brought up drill down into what I need to know a bit more.
    I doubt rollback segments would be necessary, I was thinking more along the lines of scheduled replication/duplication of the production database on a weekly or monthly basis, just to keep the material at least somewhat up to date.
    I also don't think temporary table space would put much load on storage either, at least in the long run.
    RAM isn't much an issue with a 64 bit version running either, for our needs now at least.
    My instinct, and what you mention about even potential impact of altering the existing database schema enforces this, is that it's basically safer to create a separate database, but less resource intensive to alter the schema of an existing Oracle database to suit training needs (in this situation, maybe, making some vague assumptions about software probably), if done correctly (although still carrying risks).
    I do wish I had the time to read up on this more now, and I will as soon as I have the time.
    I probably will download 10g express edition to familiarize myself a bit more now, as soon as I come up with an application for it, to at least try out whatever I read.
    Thanks for the advice

  • Data Federator data lineage and impact analysis

    Hi,
    I am looking for the use of data lineage and impact analysis feature in data federator at Universe level.
    Can I know which objects are using which fields by uisng impact feature in the data federator.
    Thanks in Advance.

    I realize this answer is a cop out but I'll suggest it anyway. Upgrade.
    I struggled with getting the lineage and impact analysis working in 10.1 and had to do quite a bit of trial and error in the Apache configuration files, DAD's ,etc. because the lineage reports were web based. I never got them working in Production due to other much more pressing implementation issues at the time and never went back to fix them.
    In 10.2 and above the reports are much easier to get with no real configuration needed.
    Anyway, back to your question, I would suggest going back through the 10.1 documentation on getting those to work and have someone a bit familiar with setting up Apache help you. I did get them working in our Test environment but its been so long I can't recall all the steps and tricks, sorry.

  • Sharepoint Foundation 2013 - Databases running in compatibility range, upgrade recommended

    I have an issue with Search within my SharePoint Foundation 2013 Farm. This is a new Farm, so I can remove the search service application and re-create if this is a way that can clear the 2 issues I am experiencing.
    Issue:
    My search service application seems to be working fine as I am able to crawl content and retrieve results, however the DB's associted with this search service application are reported with the following warning within the SharePoint Health Analyzer. I have
    been unable to run the Upgrade-SPContentDatabase command against these databases as I get a message saying that the content database could not be found:
    Title
    Databases running in compatibility range, upgrade recommended.
    Severity

    Category
    Configuration
    Explanation
    The following databases have versions that are older than the current SharePoint software, but are within the backwards compatible range:
    Search_Service_Application_AnalyticsReportingStoreDB_a3c64b2f3b9b4a5d83383ec0b1ecfcf4,

    Remedy
    To achieve optimal results from these databases, use Upgrade-SPContentDatabase to upgrade Content databases, or psconfig.exe to upgrade other databases.  For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142697".

    Ok, well you'll need to do something like this. Now this part is a little dependent on your database server:
           try {
                Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver").newInstance();
                Connection c = DriverManager.getConnection(
                                                           "jdbc:mysql://{database-server}/{database-name}:3306?user={username}&password={password}");
                Statement Stmt = c.createStatement();
                int count = Stmt.executeUpdate(cmd);
                if(count>0) {
                     System.out.println("count: " + count);
            } catch (Exception e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
        }That was some sample code for a MySQL database.
    Note that the applet can only contact the server that is was loaded from, so you might want to do a getCodeBase() or something like that to get the server address.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Bc4j.xcfg, database connections and deploying ADF apps to oc4j

    I'm trying to understand how to enable custom database connections on a JDeveloper ADF application deployed to a stand-alone instance of OC4J.
    All entity objects were created as ADF Business Components.
    I looks like the db connection information used by the application is stored in a file named "bc4j.xcfg".
    How would I change the database connection information between different environments, changing the server, port and password information from an OC4J instance?
    I'd like to use an OC4J defined data-sources.xml file, but am looking for the simplest approach for now.

    Tomato tomaato, call it what you will, we now have to spend time (money) figuring out how to change from using the recommended use of a "connection" from Oracle tutorials and in Oracle Press books.
    Plus, neither I nor our client can get JDeveloper ADF 10.1.3 to work on OAS 10.1.2.
    Oracle has been of little help, other than stating to follow documentation. We followed the documentation at least a dozen times and on three different install of OAS 10.1.2.
    Why doesn't JDeveloper have a check-box or button that reconfigures the application to run on 10.1.2 (J2EE 1.3), there is a check-box to change JDK versions (1.4)? This is suspect to me.
    We are going to be speaking with the client this week, and have to state the ADF application works, but NOT on OAS 10.1.2.
    Does ADF work on OAS 10.1.3, absolutely, but the client is in 10.1.2 and can not upgrade at this time.
    I've read in blogs where lots of developers have the same issues without resolution and Oracle should just come out and state that 10.1.3 does not work on 10.1.2.
    So my experience has been a mixed bag with ADF, both in terms of the software and customer support from Oracle.

  • Database healthchecks and DBA horror stories

I was looking for some sort of best practices Oracle DBA checklist around “maintenance tasks” and “monitoring tasks”, that a good DBA would do to keep there Oracle databases “healthy”. 2) Second part of my question is if you have ever experienced any significant issues to your Oracle databases from internal DBA’s/external DBA’s not doing these best practice maintenance/monitoring tasks. I.e. downtime, performance issues. Can you share any horror stories about lack of admin/management that had a knock on effect on the databases health, and any applications that rely on that database. The more horror stories the better if you don’t mind sharing. What didn’t they do what they should have done, and what impact did this have? What common things can DBA’s miss and what impact do they have?
    3) And finally, if you were to review your outsourced Oracle DBA’s maintenance/monitoring independently, what kind of areas would you look to for assurance they are managing your Oracle databases well. Any particular markers? Do you see any common mistakes DBA's making in their management of their database estate?

    This is probably less of an issue than the 9i retirements as there is unlikely to be too many mid track with a lot of exams to pass.
    Wrt DBA OCP: The upcoming 1z0-034/1z0-067 also provide an escape route from those on 9i/10g DBA OCA with the 9i/10g exams to DBA OCP retired; however they require the authorized course to be against 11g/12c  .... which might be a gotcha for people in that position.  ( These OCA upgrade exams set a new precedent .... they probably should help people feel they have not been cut off from a retirement .... and perhaps with the increasing cost of exams that is relevant for some ).
