SAP Banking Technical skills need for a ABAPer
Hi all,
We are very new to SAP BANKING and looking for the Technical Skills needed apart from Core ABAP.
And we are Technical consultants.
Your suggestions are highly appretiated.
Thanks and Regards,
Gopinath Addepalli.Hi Gopinath,
please be a little more specific: which SAP banking applications are you talking about? The ones based upon ERP, the SAP Banking platform (which part: deposits, loans, master contract management, cards, analytical banking), or the payments pre-standard addon?
They differ in their requirements regarding your skill sets.

Change in technical skills required for APPS Release 12 ?
Hi all,
My doubt/concern is: In APPS 11i, to become a technical developer, a person must have Oracle D2K + Pl/Sql skills as your basic skills for development/implementation. But I heard that starting from Release 12 onwards, there will not be any Oracle Forms/Reports involved. Instead , we need to develop Oracle APPS using Java only (Jdeveloper) from Release 12 onwards.
Is this true ? If yes, then are exisitng/new APPS Developers required to learn/migrate to Java Technology ? Kindly please advice as I do not have any experience/knowledge in Java and i am preparing to start my career in Oracle APPS.
Regards,
KumarThank you very much for your encouragement.
I have 3 yrs of experience in Pl/Sql,Forms,Reports + some experience as Oracle DBA (9i Developer OCP + 9i DBA OCP). I have 2 options now, either become an:
1) Oracle DBA/Oralce APPS DBA or
2) Oracle APPS Technical Developer
For Option 1, I need to do some more certifications/gain DBA work experience I am confident that I can become an Oracle DBA or Oralce APPS DBA very soon.
For Option 2, I need to do learn Oracle APPS 11i basics first and then get a junior level APPS Technical Programmer Job somewhere. So It will take 2 more years for me to get comfortable with Oracle APPS 11i. But by that time, APPS Release 12 and Fusion will get released and all my current skillsets will not be enough to cope up with that. So I need to learn/switch to Web Services,BPEL,Java/J2EE,XML/CSS/XSL/JavaScript/ADF at that time. Please note that I dont have any knowledge in these technologies too and so I need to start from the basics only.
So taking my current skillsets into account, kindly please help me in chossing any one of the above 2 options, which will best suit me. Thanks in advance for any help that you would offer to me. -

I've already looked at a few and I think Atutor seems to be a
good choice.
I manage a company intranet site that delivers staff training

Goto [http://www.oracle.com/education] - choose Product Courses, Database and Grids:
(eg [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=14&p_org_id=1080544&lang=US])
In both cases ensure country selected on top right is India.
On the schedule choose courses with +100% Student Satisfaction+
It is hard, (though obviosly not impossible), for other institutions to better this standard of such courses.
If you are aspiring to Oracle DBA OCP be very sure the institute you are choosing satisifies the requirements for the Hands on Course, and do not take the institutes word for it but check.
It may well be that you are looking for institutions offering the WDP programme. This is a maximm of 6 hours/week over several weeks so IMHO is impractical if you do not live nearby. There appear to be comments that sometimes the training from these institutes doing the WDP course can be of very variable quality. Probably the only option here is to seek out the opinions of recent psat students you can trust. -

E-Sourcing technical consultants will require SQL skills if you are developing custom reports. The E-Sourcing query and reporting tools utilize "annotated" SQL statements the result in a SQL query being executed against the relational database. It is also useful for the report developer to have skills specific to the DBMS being used (for example, Oracle skills) - often times, using DBMS specific SQL constructs can provide improved reporting.
E-Sourcing has a feature called "scripting" that allows custom business logic to be included in the application and executed at various "call-out" points. The scripting feature provided by E-Sourcing uses a technology called BeanShell (see www.beanshell.org for more details on this technology). Beanshell development really requires strong programming skills using Java, although some components of BeanShell may be more like JavaScript. Regardless, I recommend Java expertise for writing E-Sourcing scripts. Knowledge of HTML is not required.
The E-Sourcing workflow capabilities also utilize BeanShell, so if you plan to implement any workflows, you will also require such technical skills.
Many other features of E-Sourcing such as user interface customization can be done with less technical individuals. Programming is not required.
Hope this is helpful.

I purchased a used iPod touch advertised as 2d generation. I later found that it is first generation. I can use the device for my limited purposes but only when connected to my desktop. For some reason that I can't figure out, I am unable to download "more episodes" for my podcasts or otherwise connect to the iStore when using my wifi connection. Can anyone provide a fix for this problem. Note that my technical skill level is about 3 on a scale of 10.

All,
I'm currently a Net weaver XI consultant and my company wants me to train on FI. My company is expecting to start in a techno-functional role after getting trained. (more technical than functional)
I was looking at the SAP training curriculum and i'm seeing the TFIN50 and TFIN52 courses? Are these courses a good starting point? Or are they very basic and limited?
Or are there some better choices that will a better in depth training in FI?
Thanks. What areas in Finance will you cover, Finance, AR, AP, AA, and GL.
Controlling. PCA, CCA, PA, PS.
There are many areas and you need to make sure you understand each one.
I would suggest going to SAP Press and purchasing a book in Finance as they are much cheaper and they explain the key business processes with screen shots for you and basic configuration.
Hope this helps and good luck. -
Hi,
My boss is insisting that I go for some certification \ training either technical or in management.
I am into Java Programming since last 6 years, and working on the same project all this time.
So naturally I am not familiar much with the industry now.
Please suggest me what Certification \ Training to go for.
I have keen interest in Java \ project management.
I am also considering to look for a job in 6 months time, so would like to have some training that will make job hunt easier.
All suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
DaveWell, assuming you want to continue programming and not go over to the dark side (management), and the programming your interested in is web applications, I suggest reading the latest book on JSP/servlets if you aren't too familiar with it. Then, read a book on Spring framework. Next, create a home project in Spring. I think that would be much more effective use of your time than a class and/or certification at the moment (assuming your boss agrees).
Also see my post at http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10786901 for an MVC project that doesnt use Spring (personnally, I think you are better off creating that project before getting into Spring).
As for looking for another job, I suggest you have several technical people review your resume and keep refining it over and over until it looks professional and clearly describes how effective you are as a developer (and not just list a bunch of technology). Make a list of contacts at your current work location so you have some network contacts. Read up on interviewing etc. In terms of your resume, you probably have a lot more experience in different technologies than you realize and you need to reflect that in your resume. Having others read your resume and asking you to further describe items in your resume will help you refine it and prepare for an interview. -
Benefits of training and event management
Hi All,
Can anyone tell me the benefits of Training and Event Management
Regards,
satishHi,
The SAP HR Training and Event Management Packaged Service provides functions to plan and manage all kinds of business events for both manufacturing and service companies.
It is assumed that the training department would be responsible for the creation of the courses or other business events, including duration, schedule, location, resources and so on. It would also be presumed responsible for classifying business event types that share the same characteristics or deal with related subject matter (e.g. language or data processing courses) into business event groups.
For both types of company, an internal training catalogue has been set up covering:
1) company introduction
2) business office training
3) management skills training
4) social competency training
5) functional training
6) computer skills training
7) health and safety training
It is assumed that in a typical manufacturing company, the control of booking and course administration processes lies within the HR department and would become the responsibility of training managers and administrators.
Resources for each course can be managed within the solution, and tables for room, instructor, and locations have been set up and can be added to or amended.
Appraisal models have also been provided to allow appraisal of a course by the students, and of students by the instructor. Standard roles provided are training administrator, training manager, line manager and a range of standard reports is also provided.
Business Benefits
Choice of manufacturing or service company version
Training catalogue covering a number of events
Includes standard roles, appraisal models
Wide range of standard reports
Have a look at this link as well.
