Training what to take...

Hello All,
I am very new to SAP.  We run SAP on Oracle platform.
I recently took the SAPTEC course in SAP Pennsylvania to become familiar with SAP.  One of our lead guys has quit the company and I am now being given the role to become an SAP Basis Administrator.
I need to come up to speed with the previous employeers SAP abilities...I know thats a long shot but I need the help.
I wanted to take more courses by SAP Education and I talked to this lady who said I should take TADM10 and TADM12 however they are NOT offering these courses right now.
She asked what I wanted to learn and I said basis (system administration).
So can anyone recommend courses from the SAP site that I should consider?
Thanks,
Jon

Hi Jon,
I've moved this over to where it should get better visability from SAP Education as well as experienced community members.<a href="http://www50.sap.com/useducation/curriculum/curriculum.asp?rid=477">This link</a> is to US Netweaver Technical course page where there is detailed info about such courses as ADM100 which it says:
"Builds on the knowledge gained from the SAPTEC course (Fundamentals of SAP Web AS), this course is a solid foundation for training SAP system administrators. This course is the prerequisite for many of the subsequent courses from the SAP System Administration curriculum. This course is suitable as an introduction to managing SAP systems that use the SAP Web AS ABAP. "
There is a schedule for <a href="http://www50.sap.com/useducation/curriculum/course.asp?rid=477&cid=60180729">upcoming admin training</a>

  • Slideshow code to my website - what to take?

    Hello,
I really like the slideshow from iweb '08. The code is out there.... and cryptic at best.
I am looking to just take the code from the first screen and apply it to my website, but unsure what to take. I too, would just like a hyperlink on the first page and not show the pictures. This link will then open their slick slideshow.
I am having difficulty stripping out what is needed... I am a good coder, but this is almost like msft's wizard code.... they pack everything in it.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
    Charlie

So, you are stating, I have to show the photos and let the "widget" run. Ok, sounds silly, but if you realize this, then you must know how to get around this...
Nope, if you look at iweb photos page javascript; you soon realize that the slideshow is loaded from the photos page, as I mentioned in my last post: imagestream and mediastream
Conclusion, there is no way around that.
If there is a way I would have done it and I have adapted more slideshows for iweb (from iweb photos page) than any one else here, you can see my examples here: http://home.cyclosaurus.com/iWeb2_Stuff.html
scroll all the way down to Adaptation Redux near the bottom.

  • Do I have what it takes?

Hey guys, I have blogged about this. Please read this and comment in my blog if you like, or here.
In short : I want to learn programming, but I ask you, What is your motivation? Is there any recommendations you can give to help me become a programmer? Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
My Blog post will give you a better understanding of what I'm talking about, if you feel is easier to comment in here, please do.
    - Thanks

I'm in a similar situation. I'm 27 (practically 28) and I only recently decided to seriously try my hand at programming. I chose to start with Java for various reasons, and I've been learning for approximately 7 weeks (mainly with a book, but also with some tutorials from the Java site). I feel that I'm learning (and retaining) most of the things I have studied, but nothing can replace practice (just like any language, including spoken languages). But I also wonder whether or not I have what it takes. I have always done well in math courses, but it has been a while since I've taken any, so I would have to review a lot to understand/implement more advanced problem-solving strategies common in programming. In addition to that, I'm also uncertain about my attention span (I tend to jump from one interest to another). However, at this point I've decided to not worry about that - I will finish studying and at some point I'll decide whether or not to continue (working with Java or learning another language down the line).
My motivation for learning is simple: to create. I want to be able to produce programs on my own - to solve my own problems. Is it necessary? Probably not, since there are so many talented programmers out there. But if I can learn, why not? I also like learning languages (specifically spoken languages) so this is just an extension of that desire to communicate effectively. Anyway, the only way to know for certain is to do it. You'll figure it out at some point.

  • ERECRUIT 606 integration with SAP Portal 7.31 - what to take in mind?

We are right nopw approaching to integrate on our project ERECRUIT with SAP Portal and I like ask you for advices what we have to take in mind doing this. What time it may take to have that integrated? We have recommendations from consultants but since ERECRUIT implementation are still no commodity's I’d like to double check this and to share experiences.

Is the system being used internally only or do you plan to expose it to the Internet? Based on my past experience I would focus on architecture design, security including vulnerability scanning, performance, interoperability (especially different browsers and browser versions) and usability (neither the BSP nor the WDA UI is that user friendly). Of course if the system is used only internally, the involved effort is smaller.

  • What to take into account to create a custom schema?

Hello, we are going to start the process of migrating from Oracle E-business suites R11.5.10.2 to R12; we have been doing our custom applications into the APPS schema. For this upgrade, we would like to start fresh and move all our custom applications to a custom schema to have control of all the customizations. I need your feedback on what are the things we need to take into account to accomplish that.
Please let me know anything that comes to your mind on what to consider, and if you have a good guidance on how to do it should be great.
    Thank you.

  • What To Take After CCNA?

    Hi Experts,
Hi! I would like to ask you guys on what certification could I take after CCNA?
My choices are to take CCNP but I believe it is a long and hard road because of 3 hardcore exams.
Also in my option is to take CCNA voice because I'm curious on how Cisco voice works specially to work on it on home labs.
Guys need your advice on a Cisco carreer path to take.
    Thank you for your support.
    Ron

    Hi ronchristian.timbang,
I would agree with Leo on this.
Once you complete the CCNA, Go for CCNP Routing and Switching and make sure you read the book throughly and understand the concepts how the technollogy works rather than going for certification first. If you understand the technlogy and concept getting the certification would be really easy.
I see that CCNP exam is covering almost most of the concept hence if you read book not leaving a single page then you would be very good at it.
Do some practice on the physical labs if possible else go with GNS/Packet tracer and try to do all the labs.
I would also appriciate if you can think some logical way of how the routing/switch works and try to implement creating scenario of your own that makes you master by thinking out of the box.
    Say for example:
1- STP how to migrate MSTP to PVST/PVST+
2- What changes are there between STP/RPVST
3- Explain indepth the reason to choose BGP and how you can influence the routes/
4- OSPF is itself a indepth ocean hence check how you can get all the areas to talk to each other and how you can filter it.
5- How can you interact between different protocols.
6- Wirelss concept would be included in your CCNP i believe
7- Think of which track you want to know after completing the CCNP r&S. If you just want to know what is voice technology then study CCNA voice and move back to your actual track if it is R&S then plan for CCIE certification.
8- If you dont have any plan to gain CCIE certification and you are enough with CCNP R&S then you can also think of CCNA,CCNP Data center which is very well required now a days to understand what all components involve there and how it works.

  • What things use up data on the iPhone 4? Also, what things take up space? Is it just like the iPod touch as far as space goes?

I'm getting an iPhone and I want to know what I am looking for in data usage and space? Let me know?
    Thanks

Anything that uses a network connection will use data, unless a wifi network is available to use (wifi does not count against your cellular 3G data use).  So email, web surfing, streaming video, updating content in news reader apps - anything like that.  Location based services as well, although there are GPS navigation apps that store their maps on the device, so do not need a data connection like the built in maps app (which uses data to fetch the map display data).  TomTom, Garmin and others have apps that include the maps stored on the device, and some, like MotionGPS allow you to cache maps for use later without a data connection.
Pics, video's and music can also all be managed by only syncing what you want for the time being.  As long as you don't mind manipulating the sync settings and sync'ing more frequently, then you can still have a big music or photo library, just not all on the iPhone at one time.  Same goes for eBooks - as long as you don't want to keep a huge library on the device, just sync, read and remove when finished and put the next one on there (and eBooks take up very little space anyway - very compact format for ePub books).
It sounds like 16Gb would be alright for you, but just remember you cannot upgrade the memory later.
Also be aware of data settings.  If you use push email, it will use wifi if available when the phone is awake/active, but in sleep mode it will continue to work, but will use cellular data (since wifi is disabled when the phone enters sleep mode).  Manual fetch for email is a better way to control email data use.
If you get unlimited social networking data use, that sounds nice (not an option with any plan I know of in the USA) - just be sure they explain it clearly (i.e. is it tied to a particular app. or only via web connections to sites - in other words how do you use it to ensure it falls into the unlimited bucket and not crosses over into your limited general data bucket).
    Enjoy!

I have a few questions, I have no scipting experience yet as I'm going into highschool this year. First of all is there always/usual/sometimes game developing classes at public highschools? I've never heard of any. Worse, colleges don't seem to offer much either. If you are sure you want to program games for a living, I'd say forget a traditional college and CS degree and go here: www.fullsail.com
Secondly how many years of college classes does it take to get a regular degree (forgot name) and a masters degree. All depends on you! 3-8 years I suppose.
Thirdly what colleges do you reccomend for MMORPG designing/scipting. I've never heard of an MMORGP class/program at a school. MMORPG is a very specific niche. It's like asking to take a class called "Building a Space Shuttle 101". It's very complex. It takes millions of dollars and dozens of people to make an MMORPG and even if you succeed in building one, you have something like a 10% chance of it being successful and making you money.
Fourthly excluding college what would I need to buy to start up a game, is there exspensive programs? What do you mean? Software? Well you can program games for free using Java if you want. Or you can license an engine. There are lots of options.
Fithly is it harder to make it browser based?Nope. But forget about the browser. Just make a game and use Java Web Start if you want to make it available via browser.
Lastly could you give me a example of scripting like if you want to make a small brown and green tree what would you write? This is way too general. But you can check out lots of Java 2D/3D graphics turorials online. I say just focus on learning Java, then math, physics, etc., then Java2D, then Java3D, then JOAL or some sound API, learn how to get user input from keyboard/mouse, network programming, database programming, etc. Take it step by step.

  • Spectrum Analyzer with Tracking Generator - do I have what it takes?

    Hi Guys and Gals,
I need to profile the response of some filters in an ultrasonic bit of hardware. I've been told that a Spectrum Analyzer with a Tracking Generator will do what I want in a short space of time, but I don't have one. Problem is I don't know what a spectrum analyzer is (beyond the obvious - analyses the frequency spectrum response).
I have a 100MHz Arbitrary Function Generator under LV control and I have a LeCroy 600MHz Oscilloscope under LV control and I know a bit about writing LV.
The question is, can I use the AFG, the Oscilloscope and LabVIEW to make myself a Spectrum Analyzer to do the job?
Any suggestions or pointers gratefully received.
    Dr Phil

I believe a Network Analyzer will be of use to you, and fortunately you have the makings of one.  A NA will tell you the amplitude and phase response.  The easiest thing to do is to split the signal from the AFG (use a T) and send one signal straight to the scope and the other to the input of the DUT (device under test).  Connect the DUT output to the second channel of the scope.  Simply measure the ratio of the amplitudes and the relative phase of the two channels and you are all set.  The scope probably has these functions built in, otherwise acquire the time series and let LabVIEW do the work (you can also take the power spectrum if you really want a spectrum analyzer).   If you want to be careful, make sure that the cable lengths in the two paths are equal, but at ultrasonic frequencies I wouldn't worry about it at all.

    @Echo Installation Complete......
Now this took us weeks to make.  Notice you have three different types of installers with different command line switches.  there isn't even a set of NI standards.  It took us a long, long time to put this together, trying an install and wiping the PC clean over and over and over until we finally came up with this...
So my question is, are you guys sure it was such a good idea not to use a standard MSI file?  You really need the NI custom installer with non-group-policy-compatible msi's?
If you gave us real msi files this could have been much easier!

    I got 99 problems but 8.6 ain't one.

    Hi Billings11,
To recap, here is Andrew's previous response:
You are correct in pointing out that NI's MSIs do not function as normal MSIs.  We made the decision to create functionality which would extend MSI and allow us to create more robust installers.  Our current installer framework acts as a supervisor over the installation.  It has the ability to mark and match dependencies (more functionality than the MSI reference count) which are important when other NI products are being installed or if any product is uninstalled.  The installer framework also provides a lookup service to all of the MSIs which can provide any installer with specific information about other NI products installed on the machine, paths to those products, etc.  The framework gives the ability for groups within NI to create separate installation parts (MSIs) which can be brought together into one installer without recreating a single distribution MSI from scratch.
Extending functionality outside of normal MSIs also means that installation via a network group policy is no longer supported.
To support deploying through Active Directory, we would need to remove our installer framework instead and ship each piece of software as a single MSI.  The features our framework provides would be eliminated, and much of the burden of tracking dependencies would be pushed onto the customer.  Installation procedures would most likely become more complex, as each MSI would also be relatively blind to the current set of NI products on the machine.
To distribute the NI installers to many machines, our recommendation would be to place the installer on the network, use Active Directory to define the policy, and then distribute the software through Microsoft SMS (or a similar tool) by running the installer in silent mode.  This involves creating a spec file, and then running 1 or more installers silently as part of a batch file.  You had already brought up this point in a previous post:
"You might suggest running batch files as login scripts.  But it takes longer for someone to create and test a batch file silent install than new installation in a real MSI file.  You have to look up all the right switches to run the installation in silent mode with the right options - its a pain.  Its really better in the long run to take the time to recreate NI's installation from scratch so you can have a real windows installer from that point forward."
I completely agree that the process for creating a batch file for the silent installation of NI products should be improved.  We are working hard to create a process in which you can 1) create a spec file simply and quickly and 2) be able to run the installer easily in silent or basic mode.  These improved features should reduce the issues your IT would have with NI software distribution through Microsoft SMS (or equivalent product).
Thanks again for your comments and have a great day!

  • How can I tell if my Mac Mini has what it takes to support Windows XP OS?

I need some help understanding how the whole Windows OS thing works with my Mac mini. I'm totally clueless about it.
The first thing I would like to know is if my Mac has enough memory & power to accommodate the additional Windows OS without compromising its performance?
Here's a list of what I have to work with. I have no idea about what any of this means but I'm hoping someone can use the info to assess my needs.
    Model Name: Mac mini
    Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
    Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 2 MB
    Memory: 1.25 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
When I bought my Mac mini I was told that its ROM size was 80GB. I partitioned the HD into 2 HDs when I select them individually & choose get info, one partition says MacHD1 Capacity: 39.88GB & the second partition says MacHD2 Capacity: 34.21GB. When I total up the memory capacity of both partitions I get a total of 74.09. What happened to the remaining 5.91GB?
Would it still be possible to install Windows on at least one HD partition or would it be better if I joined the two HD partitions (after reinstalling MacOS) & then install Windows?
Assuming that my Mac has the necessary memory & speed to run Windows, how do I begin the process of installing the Windows OS on my Mac? And, in the same respect, assuming that it doesn't meet the sufficient standards, then what can I do, if anything, to improve my Mac's performance so that it can support the additional OS?
Also, I have Virtual PC with Windows XP installer. When I bought VPC I was told that the package contained the full version of Windows XP OS. Can I use this software to install Windows XP, without installing VPC, or will I have to purchase the XP installation disc? Basically I would be buying something that I already have & I would like to avoid this if possible.
That's all. Any information would be helpful & greatly appreciated. THANX!
    AJ

Thanks for responding. I've actually decided to just throw myself in with the wolves and buy Windows XP along with Parallels Desktop and figure it all out on my own.
    Thank You!

  • Moving All The Important Stuff to a New User Account. What to take?

It's been quite an eventful week and, because I can't turn %%$$! FileVault off on my original user account, I've just decided to move over to my back up account. "Brian" now has Admin abilities but I was wondering about the process of getting Brian to look/feel just like my original, now f'ed up account. Is it just about putting the Preferences file folder onto an ext. HD and putting it into the new account's Library? (I've managed to screw things up REAL BAD messing about with my Preferences Folder. I really don't want to go through that again!)
Anyway, anything else beside the above folder? I've got all my music and photos/movies already on the Ext. HD. I'm so mad at the Brianhardy account, I really look forward to deleting it. (No, that doesn't make any sense...)
Finally, how do I pick a better picture for brian for the users window? Nothing against dogs but.......
    Thanks.
    Brian

    Hi Brian
I went through what you are currently describing for the same reason as yours: disabling FileVault. Let me give you a few suggestions.
First of all, what I did is I actually went through all the files in the Preferences folder, to choose the ones I really wanted to move to the new account. There were so many obsolete preference files in there remaining from uninstalled apps that it was worth seriously cleaning up this folder.
Second, the Preferences folder is probably not the only folder in your Library you want to migrate. I'll give you a list of the stuff I migrated, but some of if might not apply to you.
My address book. It was corrupted, so I ended up exporting all the contacts, group by group, and importing them into the fresh, new address book on the new account. But you might not have to go through this trouble.
My calendars. I am a .Mac subscriber, so I synced over .Mac between the two accounts. (Be careful, it is a bit more tricky than it sounds). Same for all the stuff that can be synced (see the .Mac preference pane): Safari bookmarks, email accounts and rules, keychain... For some reason the keychain sync did not work, so I had to do the same export-import procedure as for my address book, except I had to give my password for every item in the keychain... :S I can type my password pretty fast, now :P
/Library/Application Support/iWeb if you use iWeb to create websites, which I don't recommend, after fighting with it for quite a while (but I haven't tried iLife'08 yet). More generally, you should have a look into this Application Support folder to see if anything in there is worth migrating.
    /Library/Mail
/Library/Sounds because I had put lots of custom sounds in there that I can use for iCal alarms
    /Library/Widgets
By the way, after migrating to this new user, I decided NOT to make it an admin, and to create a second new user with admin rights. I read this makes your mac more secure. Whenever you do something that requires admin rights, you enter the username and password of this admin user.
I also kept the old user for a while, just in case I realize later that there is something I forgot to migrate (which happened a couple of times). I just deleted it a few days ago.
Changing a user's picture can be done in the Accounts preference pane in the System preferences.
    Good luck

  • What to take in consideration before to start.

hi, i am 100% new at this and although there's a lot of support out there, there's too much!!
I've been using flash for a while now but more on the design side so never switch to AS3... I need to develop a "members directory"  and the chosen software is Adobe air, so i have to learn it quick.
If anybody could point me in the right direction to learn and produce a project at the same time, i would be so greatful.
I assume that i would draw n flash and either use flash or flex for the localDB. i found "Using the SQLite database access API in Adobe AIR" now my first question is about what's copyrighted and whats not?(i was thinking of tweeking the insync app and see if i can start trying stuff with that)(don't even know if it's doable yet?!!? but most importantly was wondering if it was accepted or not )
    - could i use insync as the base for my project? (it's already doing half of what i am trying to do)
i have so many question like this but adobe forum seems to be use by ppl who are already past the first learning curve.
What steps do you recomand for a new user, and how do i know what i will need.... so far FLEX seems to be the favorite, would it be best to start with that?......
I KNOW IT"S MANY QUESTIONs but i relly feel lost and i think that any comments could help me here!
    Thanks in advance.

Sure: learn new things, and be great at them, but do not develop production code while learning, it's a recipe for disaster.)
I know I am going into this backward but it's not like if I've got a choice, my boss seems to think that if I am a graphic designer I should be able to learn and produce a desktop application in no time, luckily we have AIR that kinda help more graphic oriented ppl to achieve such application, am I right?
I don't have a difficult project (it's pretty much like the Employee management app but for a member directory instead) I hope I'll be able to learn from what's out there already because my knowledge is a bit old now, I still do my flash in AS2 and never done DB from scratch and have no knowledge of Java except for copy&pasting..... I’ve got a month to produce it!!!
That is why I was leaning to flex... it seems to me that it will allow me to set up the app basics more easily then flash and that way I can concentrate on learning that SQLite Example for Adobe AIR and from what I gather so far I am lucky that my project have examples that fits my needs but if I had a choice I would do that all differently.
    Couple of beginner questions...
1- We can do the same result app with either flash/flex/java etc the only difference is the way we write it? (pretty much related to AS3)
2- The help sys in flex is nice, but is there a secret for finding error solution quickly (like an error db)??(I found plenty to learn but when googling simple error msg, I never find solution!?)

3- I still don't know what's accepted and not in terms of copyright and reverse engineer apps?
I was thinking "inSync" but now learning "flex in a week" and they use "employee management" that I could almost just use as is...
...I don't want to rip-off anybody but needs to find shortcuts somewhere!
4- We have to be very careful with the CPU usage as AIR tends to waste a lot of mem?
    Thanks for all the help

  • HT1766 how to know that what itunes take in action in back up

How could i know what the itunes has taken in to backup???

If this has been occurring for some time it may well be that you have some corrupt documents stopping everything working. It may well be that you can identify and eliminate these documents, but I suspect it would be simpler and less time consuming to remove all your documents and start again.
Save as many documents as you can to your desktop from iCloud.com or from the iCloud document panel in the appropriate Applications.
Turn off document syncing on every device.
On your mobile devices make sure document syncing is turned off not only in the iCloud settings, but also in the settings for each app.
Check the apps on your mobile devices no longer have any documents in them.
On your computer go to system preferences > iCloud > manage and delete any documents you see in your iCloud storage.
    Restart all devices.
Re-enable document syncing device by device, ensuring that syncing is working properly before re-enabling syncing on the next device.
