Tranfering text files to iPod????

Does anyone have any clue on how to tranfer text files to the iPod? I already enabled my iPod for disk use then after I have no idea?? I read the manual but it clearly does NOT state how to tranfer them.
Thanx,
Loudawg

To transfer any data onto your computer (your using Windows I see) then open your GUI (Windows Explorer/My Computer) when the iPod is connected and select your iPod (whatever you called it) and then drag the data you want onto the iPod.
I hope this helps

    Seriously.

  • How do I move text files from my desktop to my iPod Touch?

How do I transfer (export) text files from my Mac (word processor files) to the Notes app on my iPod?

Just be aware that if you delete or don't move profiles that are currently assigned to images LR will (without warning) reassign those images with the Adobe Standard profile.
You can use AnyFilter, Data Explorer, or DevMeta plugins to determine if any images are assigned to a profile you want to delete. You can then reassign the profile of your choice. Once that's completed you can safely delete the camera profile.

  • How would I export a list of songs on an iPod to a text file?

I found one of my old iPod shuffles that's synced to an old PC that is long gone... I'm looking for a way to export what's currently on the iPod Shuffle as a text file or something so I can remember that "phase" in my life in the form of a playlist. I used to be able to do this in iTunes 10, but not quite sure how in 11+. Does anyone know how to do this?

If you are able to connect the shuffle to iTunes and show its list of songs, it may be best to take a screen shot of iTunes window at max size.  Scroll the list and take additional screen shots as needed.
NOTE:  There is a command in the menu bar to
File -> Library -> Export Playlist...
Give this command with the shuffle's Music list selected in the sidebar.  However, this command is meant to create a text file that is later imported into iTunes, so it is not formatted to be nicely readable to human eyes.
iTunes 11.x may hide the sidebar (along left side of window).  To show the sidebar, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  To show the list of songs on the shuffle...
    • If the shuffle is 3rd or 4th gen, find the shuffle in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Click the small triangle to the left of the shuffle's name, to drop down its content list (indented below the shuffle).  Click on Music there.
    • If the shuffle is 1st or 2nd gen, the shuffle itself is one playlist.  Select it in the sidebar, under DEVICES, so that its Settings screen is shown to the right.  Toward the top, where is says "Settings," click on On This iPod (to the right).
You can actually off-load the song files from the shuffle.  You cannot use iTunes to do this (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store), but there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer song files from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on the computer's drive, I suggest you create a new playlist in iTunes, and name it appropriately (like "Old iPod Songs").  Show the song files in an Windows Explorer window, and drag them to that playlist in the iTunes window.  iTunes will add the songs to the (general) iTunes library, but that playlist will only show the songs that were on the shuffle.  And you can actually play the songs for a shot of "nostalgia" (not just look at their names).

  • Can't drag text files into my iPod

I've seen that usualy below the iPod icon on the left side of the window of itunes, it use to appear "90's" "most popular music", something like that (some sort of playlists), but now it only appearas the little iPod image with nothing below (unless I create a Playlist). So there's nowhere I can drag my text files (Help says I should drag them into the "Notes" folder, but id doesn't appear there!)
    What can I do??

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
First you have to enable your iPod for disk use. Go into Edit-->preferences and hit the iPod tab. Then check enable disk use. Click ok.
Now go into My Computer and find the drive representing the iPod. Open that. This is where the notes folder is.

  • Ipod notes & text file splitting

Does my Ipod support the HTML code in my txt files? How I can split in txt's file of 4 kb my e-book?Is there any program to do that?Is there any special function using the ipod notes?Thank you.

There is a web page with a utility for doing this for you - automatically doing what would otherwise be unthinkably laborious. It adds links to each note so you can seamlessly go to the next note when you reach the end of the current one.

It seems that Apple missed a trick here - they don't seem to have expected people to use the iPod as an ebook reader. In fact, the 4kb file limit seems almost specifically designed to PREVENT that. However, this utility provides a perfectly good work around, and the only down side is that creating so many little files limits the number of ebooks you can have by making it hit the 1000 files limit. However, it's still better than nothing until iPod updates the notes firmware to accept larger files.
I almost wonder if the notes reader isn't a hack - something cobbled in and maybe limited by the expected lengths of playlists or something like that? But in any case, this is a great workaround.
Hey Mac - catch a clue! Considering the price of most ebook readers, and the fact that the iPod has a great screen and crisp, Mac-style text, making the iPod work as an ebook reader may the the one thing that puts the rest of the hold-outs over that last hump and convince them to get an iPod instead of some other MP3 player. Or that convinces folks on the fence to go ahead and get the Ipod or Nano instead of the Shuffle...

  • Add plain text files or notes to ipod 4th generation??

I was wondering how to add plain text files or "notes" to my ipod. It says I should have a "Notes" tab on my iTunes, but I don't. I've tried enabling the disk use but it didn't change anything. What I need is to add some word files onto my ipod if thats possible.
    THANKS
    Sarah

I haven't tested myself but after you open disk space you drag the file into your ipod?

  • Notes- Text files only half appear on iPod

I've added text files to the notes section of my ipod and I save them from word as .txt files, but only half the file appears when I go to read it on my ipod after I've transferred the files. All of the files are like this and the words just cut off at random points during the note. They appear fine when I open them on my computer, but not on the ipod. What's wrong and how do I fix this? Thanks in advance for any advice, I'd really appreciate it!

    Hi.
    I having the same problem.
I tried saving a note from my laptop in .txt format onto my ipod Calssic 80gb.
I assume only the first 4kb was saved, as the note on my iPod was truncated. Surely with 80gb, there must be a way in which I could increase the note disk space on the iPod?
It really would be a tiresome process to keep truncating the original note on my laptop to have it all fit on my iPod.
    Please help.

  • Ipod is not adding text files??

hi, i have had my ipod fifth generation from august 2010, and i just found out that i can add text files to it. now when i follow the instructions on it, and i see the files, none of the text shows up, and next to the title is .docx!! i really need help with this, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are these plain text files of less than 4096 characters or MS Word files?

  • How to see all txt files in ipod

    hi there...
i was wondering why is there a limitation to viewing the .txt files in my ipod. there is soo much space in my ipod yet after transferring my text files, i cannot read all of them. why is this so? and is there any solution to read every txt file i have transferred over?
would really appreciate if someone can help me out
    thank you soo much!!!

The iPod can only display up to 1000 files and the the first 4KB of text (about 4096 characters) of each.
As far as I know, it's a software limitation and there is no way around it.
You can break up the files into smaller ones so that all the characters of each note are displayed but this doesn't overcome the 1,000 note limit.

  • Viewing Text files

I want to view a text file from my new ipod Nano, which I have enabled for file use. I am using Word for Mac, I put the Word file in my Notes folder. But when I disconnect the ipod, while I can see the file in my notes folder, I am not able to view the content. Anyone know why? Help please.

    Hello Montes,
In order to view the file on your iPod, it has to be saved as a text document only (using TextEdit on your Mac), and nothing else. I would check out this Apple support document for more help.

  • Importing Text Files  into Notes

Having trouble reading imported text. I have IPod nano 3rd gen. It is checked to enable disc use. When I drop a .txt file into notes folder, then eject IPod, I can see the document titles in IPod/notes however, text displays as code (alot of 0's &1's and other garbled letters). Does anyone know why this happens and how I can solve this? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks

The files MUST be plain text files (possible sich text format as well) but not Word Documents and stuff like that. Simply taking a Word document and changing the extension from .doc to .txt won't do it for you, if that is what you tried.

  • Receiving text files on apex/html port

    Hi,
I am in the process of setting-up, configure, developping an apex application but I have a question about receiving files into the "apex" database.
    The process flow:
a machine creates medical equipment but also creates a file as input for the apex application.
This file will be picked-up by a transaction process (sort of Tuxedo) and will be transferred to the Apex databases. The easiest was is to start a FTP process to send the file but this will creates too many steps. So I wondered if it is possible to directly send this file from the medical server via the Transcation Process to the Apex application/database?
I am also interested in the most ideal HTTP server. Which one suits best with the above question?
    Oracle Application Express Listener
    Embedded PL/SQL gateway
    Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql

Yes you can, as long as your iPod has firmware v2.0 or later. Then you can purchase apps from the App Store that will let you view all manner of files. Most of them are fairly cheap, there might even be free ones.
There are a few different programs available, but I use FileMagnet. It supports a large range of formats, including text, pdf and html (plus Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Pages, Numbers and Keynote if you have iWork on your Mac).
The other program I have is Stanza, which is free. It only does plain text files, but it does them really well. And being free, I can't complain.
The only thing I don't think you can do is use your iPod as an external hard drive to move files from one computer to another.
    Hope that helps

  • Encrypted or Password Protected Text Files?

I don't suspect there's anyway to protect text files that I load on to my iPod, is there? That would be a very cool feature to add in the future, even if it's using the "safe combination" technique used to screen lock.

I don't suspect there's anyway to protect text files
that I load on to my iPod, is there?
I've sucessfully done this already. The files remain perfectly readable but you won't ever understand them again (but that's a small price to pay for the peace of mind you get).
Looks like the screenlock's your only answer!
