Tranferring an app via iTunes 9 on my home network

I have iTunes 9 as does my son and we have set up home sharing. I can see all of his music via our home network and he mine but he cannot see my apps. I was trying to transfer a couple on to his phone. I have enabled all of my library to be viewed but in the little tick boxes (for individial authorisations) there is no mention of apps - just tunes, films, podcasts etc.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Regards

This is how you do it;
Have each computer be authorized for both accounts.
Step over to your son's computer, launch iTunes, log out of his iTunes Store account and log in with yours.
Go to the app store and click the Buy App button on the application/applications you had bought on your computer.
iTunes knows you already paid for this/these apps and they will be re-downloaded without charging you again.
Once the download is complete, the apps will now show in the Applications section of iTunes.
Now log out of your iTunes Store account and log him back in.
Sync & enjoy.

  • Can iPhone apps be updated via iTunes v download from home network?

I thought that by connecting my iphone through itunes on my laptop I could get all updates for my apps through itunes via synching and it would go very fast.    I have 27 apps currently updating and it has taken nearly 35 mins and the app updates are still downloading.   It's fine I guess when I'm home but I just updated apps a few weeks ago outside of my home network and AT&T had a field day with the amount of data I downloaded, especially since I couldn't cancel the updates.
Also, is there any blessed way to cancel the updates (yes I know they are meant to be there for a reason, but if I don't want them downloading via a cellular network, can I cancel or pause until I am into my home network?
    Thanks,
    Bill

First of all, your profile above indicates you are running OS X 10.6.8.  Is this true?  If so, realize this is the oldest version of OS X that supports the current iTunes (11.2.2).  So once the next version of iOS is released, it seems likely that you would either be required to upgrade your OS X or no longer be able to sync your iPhone.
Given you are running an iTunes version that supports your iPhone, open iTunes on your computer, click the "Apps" tab, then click "Check for Updates" in the lower right.  After you have done that, syncing your iPhone using iTunes will cause the latest versions of the iOS apps to be downloaded to your iPhone from your iTunes.

  • Managing apps via iTunes 12 causes crash

When installing apps via iTunes 12, opening the graphic view of the destination page and either clicking on the "install" button for the app or attempting to drag the icon from the list to the desired page on the device usually causes iTunes itself to crash. The destination page has been doubled-clicked and in the forefront before attempting the install.  This happens both with a direct USB connection and when synching over Wi-Fi.
Two actions which sometimes seem to help are:
Synching before any rearranging or installing an app on a page, and
Using the scrollbar on the Apps list which seems to force more (all?) of the app icons to be displayed.
Probably not relevant, but I've also found that entering a portion of a file name in the Find field at the top of the Apps list often misses app names which don't appear until more than the text of the title is typed in.  For example, I have the app "Listacular" which will display as found (along with 19 other apps) if I enter the text "list" in the search field, but not if I only enter "lis" for which only 3 apps are returned.
I'm wondering if this is a Yosemite issue since, for example, I do not get the "Do Not Disturb" option at the top of Notification Center until I've done a scrolling action on my "Today" list? Scroll = Swipe to Refresh?
I don't recall this ever happening with the prior version of iTunes.
I can rearrange the app's page location on the device itself, but through iTunes should be more efficient.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • HT4528 I have accidentally restored my phone back to factory settings and lost my contacts, photos, and apps.  I have retrieved my apps via itunes but is there any way to reverse this to get my contacts and photos back?

I have accidentally retored my phone back to factory settings and lost my contact list, photos and all.  I have retrieved my apps via itunes but is there any way to reverse this so I can get my photos and contact list back?

Some accident with all the steps and warning messages provided.
All contacts on your iPhone should be available on your computer. Not a good idea to depend on an iPhone or any cell phone alone for such important data. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
Contacts and photos/videos in the Camera Roll should be included with your iPhone's backup which should have been created or updated by iTunes as the first step during the restore process - unless you declined the option.
If you declined the option, the data is gone. If not, restore your iPhone again from the backup that was created or updated before the previous restore.

  • Cannot connect to the iTunes Store from my home network since I upgraded to ios 6

I own an iPad 2 and recently upgraded to ios 6. Since then, I cannot connect to the iTunes store from my home network.  I can navigate any other site and access any other application.  I can even reach the iTunes store through My Personal Hotspot and through my office network.
Has anyone experienced something similar?  My network carrier is Telmex and I know for sure, they block port 25.  Any guess on whether there could be a setting impeding connection?
    Help!!!

    Hi Nickey,
If you are having difficulty connecting to the iTunes store from your PC there are a number of things you can try to get connected again. Details are available in this article -

  • Can't access iPhone apps via iTunes

Hi.  I'm trying to reinstall a weather app I deleted off my iPhone recently, but I keep hitting a brick wall be it either through iCould on my iPhone, or via 'unexpected quitting' of iTunes.  I'm focussing on the latter problem as I like to manage my phone via my Macbook Pro.  It's running OSX 10.6.8.
Via my iPhone, I go to the app store and can see my app is in the 'bought' list, but it's on iCloud and my phone keeps timing out trying to access the data.  I'm properly logged into iCloud and my account is verified etc.  I've logged out, reset my phone, shut it off, logged back in, but same problems each time.
Via iTunes, i'm able to get into the 'my iPhone' GUI, I can click on every menu option (ie - summary, info, music, movies, etc) with the exception of 'apps'.  If I select 'apps' iTunes 'quits unexpectedly' each and every time.
How to resolve this issue?  I just want to revert to the older weather app I used, quite easy in theory, but since installing iOS7 I can't seem to complete the process.

    Hello, Che_Guitarra.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If iTunes or the App Store unexpectedly closes on the iPhone, update your iPhone to iOS 7.0.3.  Next would be to reset all settings.  Go toSettings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.
If the issue persists, try signing out of all services that require signing into your Apple ID and then signing back in.

  • Installing apps via iTunes.

    Hello there!!
I cannot succeed to install apps on my iPod via iTunes.
When trying to do so iTunes say: cannot install the "the name of the app goes here" because an unexpected error occurred (0xE8008001).
I tried to authorizes the computer but this didn't help and I don't know how to solve this problem, can someone help me?
*Any helpful help will be appreciated!!*
    Best regards!!
    Atar.

Downloading iOS apps from file sharing sites is unsupported and unwise (you have no idea what they actually are, do or contain), and is the source of your problem. The only legitimate place to get apps for your iPod is from the iTunes Store. Acquire your apps there and I doubt you'll have any problems.
Sorry, we cannot provide any further help with attempting to use pirated applications.

  • My ipod touch is telling me that the skype and twitter apps need updating. When I try to run them they fail. I have tried deleting the apps via itunes but it doesn't work and I have tried updating the apps via itunes and it says they are updated.

My ipod touch is telling me that the Skype and Twitter apps need updating.  When I try to update them they both fail. I have tried numerous times.  I have tried connecting the ipod to itunes and removing the apps, to reload them but that does not work either.  If I try and update the apps through itunes the system tells me they are updated.  Can anyone assist please?

    - Try a reset. It cures amny ills
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Have you tried deleting them from the iPod and then redownloading them dorectly to the iPod?

  • Changing country. Can't update apps via iTunes

Have strange issue with my iTunes. After changing country form Russia to Ukraine my iTunes only searches and displays the number of updates. But when I want to update it and clicking on "update apps" iTunes says "No updates are currently available. To check for updates for another APPLE ID, sign in whit that Apple ID."
But at the same time my iPhone successfully searches and updates all apps for the same Apple ID, and then transfers it while sync with iTunes. What is the problem with my iTunes?

    The solution:
Delete all your apps in itunes you have purchased in previous country
    Reinstall it

  • Cannot update apps via iTunes after iOS 8 install

After updating my iPhone 4S to iOS 8.0.2, iTunes (ver 11.4, under OS 10.6.8) will no longer do a backup nor any direct usb cord App updates. I could download all the updates to my Mac and they showed up in the connected iphone App list.  Although the bottom banner showed nearly 5 GB of free space, as soon as I selected one of the App update button (which changed to "will update" the bottom banner change to read "not enough free space."  Then, I tried asking it to deleting an App and it came up with the usual "do you really want to" warning. After clicking yes, it basically did nothing.  I also tried doing a manual backup of the iPhone which just resulted in a very quick "scanning" status message, then nothing. I rechecked my Apple IDs, device authorizations, and restriction settings and they all seem OK. Finally, I shut down and restarted both the Mac and the iPhone then tried it all again with same results. Direct Cell or WiFi App updates on the
iPhone work fine, but, I prefer doing them via the Mac so all are locally saved, plus, I do not have to do double downloads for my wifes iphone.

If i click for example on the update button in app store, there is just this ''downloading circle'' and shows loading.. and loading.. and loading and just nothing happens. Also the sympol of the updating app gets grey and there stands ''waiting''.
If i try to download an App, there is the same on the install/download button and there shows up a grey symbol of the app and nothing else happens.
No error message or something else. Just shows that it ''loads'' and nothing happens.

  • Kobo APP download Docs, PDF's Kobo said to convert the PDF using Adobe Digital Editions, then I'd be able to upload to the Kobe APP via iTunes. Where is File Sharing under the Apps tab located?

I've uploaded my PDF to Adobe Digital Editions, but can't find where on iTunes to select file sharing under the Apps Tab... as specified in the instructions in the Kobo APP for the iPhone... and a rep from Kobo told me it was possible.

For future questions, this forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with an issue if you ask in the general iTunes forums.
