Tranferring data to MAC Lion OSX

any ideas on how to accomplish this since there is no Palm software for Lion OSX?  Can raw data be extracted from my Tungsten E2 and be manipulated into existing MAC programs (i.e. calendars, address book, etc.)?
Post relates to: Tungsten E2

You can try the export option in Palm Desktop and see if the formats avail. are valid for MAC apps. I am not that familiar with the MAC but here is an article that may help. It states in the article to look into the sync solutions from Markspace for Lion 10.6.

  • How do I connect my iPad wirelessly to my Mac lion osx server to be able to access photos, movies and songs

I would like to connect my iPad with my Mac server so that I can access songs, movies and photos on the server. How can I do this?

I think you might be a little confused between iTunes on the iPad and iTunes on the Mac.
You cannot update iTunes on the iPad separately from the entire operating system on your iPad.
Its iTunes on your Mac that is not up to date.
I order to sync an iPad running iOS 6 or later (you indicate yours is on iOS 6.1.3) you must have iTunes 10.7 or later ON YOUR COMPUTER.
iTunes 10.7 requires a Mac OSX version 10.6.8 or later.
You indicate that your Mac is running OSX 10.5.8 (Leopard). That's not good enough. You need a Mac with OSX higher than 10.5.8. Depending on which Mac you have you might be able to update the OSX on the Mac to what's needed for iTunes 10.7.
If you reply here with the type of Mac you have, the type of processor it has and the amount of RAM it has, we might be able to tell you if you can update it and how to do it. Not all macs can be updated to the required OSX version.

  • Mac Lion OSX

I am using an i7 Macbook Pro & have recently upgraded to Mac's Lion OSX. My problem is 'Mission Control is not working properly on my Mac. Just earlier, the 6 'Spaces' that I have created was missing & I have to search the net for an answer. I have also on a few occasions after starting my Mac realised that the 'indications' on the top right hand corner were missing like the battery life. This is all so very annoying especially the first time when 'Spotlight' was indexing and I thought my Mac had crash or freeze for no apparent reason. APPLE, please rectify and come up with a solution soon like a thorough update.

Seriously, I opted to change from using a PC to a Mac for the obvious reason that it is faster and reliable. Leopard & Snow Leopard were sheer joy to Mac users but after the upgrade, except for seasoned Mac users (I am only assuming) who knows how to work around, we (about 2 years old) Mac users will find it hard to adapt. Replying to your assumption that I toyed with my mouse, that was not the case as things happened after start up. And logically with mission control & the hot corners, one will naturally move the mouse and try to get back to the user preferred state. Let us not lament over such matters like you have mentioned and let the Lion runs its course... Cheers!

  • Desktop Software for Mac Lion OSX Doesn't Show or Sync any Contacts

    Hi there,
I am a brand new Blackberry user and so far am VERY frustrated. I also own an iPhone and love the thing because it just WORKS. Anyways, I downloaded the Desktop Software so I can sync my Mac Address Book with my Blackberry Curve 9360. Souldn't the software give me a choice of where I would like to sync my contacts from? It doesn't. And it just shows a blank empty list. I read another topic on here that iCloud needs to be disabled. I'm not sure how exactly to disable it but believe I did. But it still shows a blank list. Besides, iCloud is very handy and why would I want to turn it off. Shouldn't BLACKBERRY fix this problem so it works? I am not happy and if this doesn't get resolved in the next 24 hours, I will be returning to Rogers and sending this phone back and will NEVER return to RIM again. No wonder the stocks are plumiting. PLEASE HELP ME! I'm a tech savy guy and even I can't figure out how to get my contacts onto my Blackberry without doing it manually (which isn't going to happen).

Isn't it simply because of the known problem with iCloud sync enabled?
This operation makes the address book and calendar(s) invisible to BBDM as the data files are "removed" from the Mac and put "in the cloud"...
Several posts are documenting the problem and suggest some alternatives or work around (by disabling iCloud).
Look on the forum for additional details.
Please don't forget to mark as "solved" if your question is replied and to "like" a useful reply to your post ;-)

  • Tranferring data between Mac

I need help in connecting and transferring data (mostly photos) from my old PowerPC 6400/180 to my newer 24" iMac. The 6400 has been upgraded with a G3 processor and runs on OS 9.1. The iMac is running OS 10.4.10. I think I may have a faulty ethernet card on the PowerPC, so I've been trying unsuccessfully to connect it to my router with either a LinkSys USB Network Adaptor(EtherFast 10/100) or a D-Link Wireless USB Adaptor(DWL-122). I'm afraid the USB devices may not be supported or have the necessary drivers to be used on the older PowerPC. My USB memory stick will not work either.

With a recent iMac, you should be able to connect it directly to another Mac (even an older one) using a standard Ethernet cable. Of course, if the Ethernet port on the 6400 is broken, it will not work. But you should try it. Make sure file sharing is turned ON on the 6400. I would use the iMac to look for and connect to the 6400. If it doesn't show up by "browsing," try putting the IP address that is shown in the 6400's TCP/IP control panel into the
    Finder>menu>Go>Connect to Server...
window on the iMac, in the field "Server Address:".
If Ethernet does not work... Do you have a .Mac account with Apple? The online storage was recently upgraded to 10GB. Other services (such as your ISP) may also provide online storage. There is a program called Goliath that
    http://www.webdav.org/goliath/
that allows access to online storage under the classic Mac OS. If you have such a resource, you could transfer the files there from the 6400 and copy them down from the iMac.
Actually, if your Ethernet does not work, you may not have Internet access (unless you use a modem and dial up). I suppose you could buy a cheap external FireWire or USB (or some have both) case and drop in the hard drive from the 6400 (I think 6400's have IDE drives). Then connect it to the iMac.

  • Lightroom to elements editing on Mac Lion OSX

    Hi All,
I've had PSE 9 for sometime now and PSE 7 prior to that.
I've recently downloaded Lightroom 4 as a 30 day trial. I've followed all the instructions re 'preferences settings' to allow further subsequent edits with PSE9 but I still cannot edit with PSE9 even though the option is there when i go to Photo>Edit Photo> Edit in Adobe Photoshop Elements.
PSE9 doesn't even launch let alone not bring in the photo.
So what have i tried so far to resolve?
    1. Looking through all my application files on my Mac to ensure i've found the right file to link to. I've only managed to find 'Adobe Photoshop elements 9'  - what i haven't been able to find is any file with the word 'editor' against it. So in essence i have 2 files 'elements organizer' and 'elements 9' which is my editor. I've linked to the latter but it's still not working.
    2. I've tried dragging an amended DNG file onto the PSE9 editor icon. This then bring the photo into PSE's ACR editor - but without the lightroom amendments?!
    Can anyone help?
    thanks
    Richard

Sorry can anyone else shed any further light on this?
As per Brett's advice i'm linked to HD/Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 9/Adobe Photoshop Elements
I now seem to be able to edit in PSE9 by exporting my image from LR as PSD and then dragging onto the PSE icon. But I can't get the app to open via Photo>Edit Photo>Edit photo in PSE.
would it have anything to do with me still having PSE catalog in use as well as LR catalog?

  • Mac Lion does not burn or read DVD-R CD

This seems to be a problem for all mac lion osx users (not sure if it includes the mac products that came out this year)... it pertains to DVD-R cd's..... This SHOULD be a BIGGER issue, and Apple just came out with an update today, but the issue persists.

    or
If  you want to report it to Apple's engineers, send a bug report  via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report. The nice thing with this procedure is that you get a response and a follow-up number thus starting a dialog with engineering.

  • Lion OSx Future

    Hi,
With the announcement of release date of Mountain Lion OSx, is Apple trying to kill Lion OSx in an yrs time. Is it the trend of life cycle of OS from Apple stable.?

Apple's habit has been to support two OS's at a time. Now that they've switched to a yearly upgrade cycle, that may change, but nobody here will know until Apple announces it.

  • I just upgraded to mountain lion osx and now my applications are crossed out and out of date. they will not run. how do i fix this?

I just upgraded to mountain lion osx and now my applications are crossed out and out of date. they will not run. how do i fix this?

Here is a recent post I assembled for a similar question:
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta.  Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion).  While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
    Workarounds:
    1. If your Mac will support it, restore OS X Snow Leopard;
    2.  If your Mac will support it, partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it and use the "dual-boot" method to choose between your PowerPC software or Lion/Mt. Lion;
    3.  Upgrade your software to Intel compatible versions if they are available, or find alternative software that will open, modify and save your data files;
    3.  Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels:

Full Snow Leopard installation instructions here:

NOTE:  Computer games with complex, 3D or fast motion graphics make not work well or at all in virtualization.

  • Time Capsule 1TB Will this unit still be compatible with Lion OSX ,As I have not switched yet until other programs I have installed on my mac are up to speed

I have had my eye on one of these for quite some time in the past and up until just very recently have puchased a 1TB Time Capsule at rather quite a reasonable price or so I had thought compared to what they had been priced at originally in the past which I had thought to be a bit over the top as is with most of apple's products or should I more say marketing tactic's,
Anyway I was just wanting to know in general is this unit already so to speak on it's way out or becoming obsolete in comparison to the 2TB's and 3TBs Time Capsules ,
Not the implicating the obvious being storage in differences but more so the compatibility issue side of things,
In short will this unit still work with OSX Lion for example, or is it only limited to Leopard and Snowleopard,
The place I had purchased this unit from are more or less in the dark themselves and although more than helpful are more a musical instrument outlet than a computer store as the decision was my choice alone in which I need not to be convinced,
Although I have purchased this item I am yet to recieve as this unit was the one of the last in the country and is to be shipped in from out of town,
But has given me time to think of such in the process during as this unit is no longer advertised amongst it bigger companions,
I use my mac or mac's mainly for composing music with such software as Pro Tools 8 soon to be 9 and also Live 8 Studio as I don't plan to plan to change over to Lion OSX until these programs are up to speed and speaking the same language,

    Yes, it's compatible with Lion.

  • How do I share files from Windows Vista to a Mac with Lion OSX?

How do I share files from Windows Vista to a Mac with Lion OSX?  I'm having SO much trouble with this!  Any help would be appreciated!!!

In a finder window, under 'shared' you should be able to see the windows computer name, click on it and connect to it. I am assuming here you have sharing turned on and permissions granted on the windows computer.
Will add a note though, I have frequently accessed files from a PC on the LAN using XP, not vista.

  • I upgraded my Mac from OSX 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard and then to Mountain Lion 10.8.2.  I did have Microsoft Office for Mac 2004 in my applications and now get a message "can't open Office because Power PC applications are no longer supported."

I just upgraded my MAC from OSX 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard and then to Mountain Lion 10.8.2.  When I try to access my Microsoft Office for MAC (2004 edition) files I am getting a message "can't open Office because Power PC applications are no longer supported.  How can I access all of my save Word documents?  I just want to be able to retrieve all of my documents that were in Microsoft Office for Mac (2004).  If I purchase the newest version of MS office for Mac from Apple will I be able to retrieve my old documents?

Use any number of free alternatives to your nearly decade old version of MS Office.
    Consider
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
    NeoOffice (free)
    OpenOffice (free)
In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for years. Life is better without Microsoft.

  • Question: I want to update to the new LION OSX, but it says that I need to at least have an Intel Core 2 Duo. When I click "about this Mac," it says that I have a 2.16 Intel Core Duo. Is there a difference between the "Core 2 Duo" and the "Core Duo"?

Well, my title basically asks the question that I am seeking an answer for. Im not sure what year my MB Pro is, and I cant exactly find it on the Apple site. Its a 2.16 Intel Core Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. All I see (dating back to 2007,) is Intel Core 2 Duo on the apple site. Im pretty sure (but not 100% positive,) that my MB Pro is a late 2008/early 2009. Just trying to figure out if I can install LION OSX or not, since it requires atleast intel core 2 duo, and mine says I only have the intel core duo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Core Duo is 32 bit processor and Core 2 Duo is 64 bit processor
OS X Lion, will only on 64 bit Intel processor Mac's.
The following Mac's that have 32 bit Intel “Yonah” processorsthat won't run OS X Lion.
    iMac 4,1 Early (Jan-Sept) 2006 17"
    iMac 4,1 Early (Jan-Sept) 2006 20"
    iMac 4,2 Mid (July-Sept) 2006 17"
    Mac Mini 1,1 (Feb-Sept) Early 2006
    Mac Mini 1,1 (Sept-Aug) Late 2006
    MacBook 1,1 13" (May-Nov 2006)
    MacBook Pro 1,1 15" A1150 (Jan-May 2006)
    MacBook Pro 1,2 17" A1151 (Aprl-Oct 2006)
    MacBook Pro 1,1 15" A1175 (May-Oct 2006)
There is a difference between “Intel Core Duo” and “IntelCore 2 Duo” processors.
Look under your Apple menu > About this Mac > more information for the details
