TRANSACTION CT04
Hi Guys,
if u go to transaction CT04 then to the values tab,
below the table conntrol u will find a pushbotton for "documentation for value".
This is used to write any long text for the values assigned in the table control.
Now if u go to GOTO(in the menu)--the header you will see a field TEXT NAME with a numeric value.
Can any one tell me what this value is. Please do not press F1 and tell RSTXT-TDNAME. I want ot know from where this value is coming and where is it stored,
Please reply urgently.
I'm having the same problem...
Table TTXID is not a solution, as it only tells me that the TOBJECT = FEATURE and TDID = VALUE, it does not help in finding the number in the filed text name.
Thanks

Addition of config keys for transaction CT04
For transaction code CT04 for a material for which i have output types ZCRE and ZCHG
under variant config we have configuration value and configuration description. i would
like to add additional config keys like configuration key part3 and configuration key part 4
configuration key part5 and configuration key part6 to the existing
configuration key part 1 and configuration key part2.
How can i create additional configuration keys and how do i group them.Hi!
CT04 is for maintaining characteristics. What configuration keys are you talking about exactly?

Performance Issue while changing a characteristic using CT04 transaction
Hi Experts,
Just now we have upgraded our system from 4.6C to ECC 6.0. In the new system we have created some characteristics and later I am trying to change these characteristics using transaction CT04 .
There are some characteristics which are already present in the new system which has come from 4.6 C. Now when I try to open/change these characteristic (already existing) using CT04 it does not take any time where as if I try to open/change a characteristic which is created newly in ECC 6.0, then it takes a lot of time.
When I run SQL trace for both the scenario, then I find that most of the time taken is on Query on table PLFV.
Trace Result for Newly Created Characteristic :
115 PLFV PREPARE 0 SELECT WHERE "MANDT" = :A0 AND "ATINN"
= :A1 AND "LOEKZ" = :A2 AND ROWNUM <= :A3
3 PLFV OPEN 0 SELECT WHERE "MANDT" = '070' AND "ATINN" =
0000000575 AND "LOEKZ" = ' ' AND ROWNUM <= 1
336681733 PLFV FETCH 0 1403
For this time taken is 336681733 .
Trace Result for Existing Characteristic :
2 PLFV OPEN 0 SELECT WHERE "MANDT" = '070' AND "
ATINN" = 0000000575 AND "LOEKZ" = ' ' AND ROWNUM <= 1
For this time taken is 2.
Here one difference I see is that for the Newly created characteristic, Prepare, Open and Fetch part is executed where as for the already existing query only Open is executed.
The program which is used for querying PLFV is SAPLCMX_TOOLS_CHARACTERISTICS.
Could you please help me in this.
Your response is highly appreciated.
Regards,
Lalit KabraHi Rob,
Thanks for the response. But the problem which I mentioned is not with all the characteristics. It occurs only with those characteristics which are newly created. The characteristics which are already created are opened without any delay.
So I am bit confused whether for this problem there would be be any note though I tried searching the same as well.
Please respond if some one has clue about this issue.
Your response is highly appreciated.

Create content modell, logical/physical document class, TA CT04/cl02/dc10
Dear experts,
Im about to get to know the SAP DMS. Content Server is already running working as well as the content repositories. I now wanna set up a content modell for testing with knowledge provider.
Im a bit confused about the different ways of doing that. What is actually the difference between creating a CHAR in TA ct04, creating a class in Cl02 with type 017 and the alternative of creating a content model with TA SRMCMCREATE or directly in the document modelling workbench.
Once ive hopefully understood the difference how can i start actually creating / uploading real (physical documents) cause in dont understand what TAs cvn01n/02n/03n are for.
There is a large number of function modules for kpro. Fo example when testing SDOK_LOIOS_CREATE i have to enter an RFC destination. What do i have to type in as RFC destination intending to store in content repositories of content server?
I know thats more than one question at a time but i would be very pleased some of these get answered.
Thanks a lot in advance.Dear Christian,
I would like to start providing you information with CT04 question. Here the CHAR value is used for maintaining the type of classification characteristics. The CHAR entry stands for 'Character' type which
means you can add alphabetical and numerical values to this classification characteristic. Transaction CT04 is normally used for creating classification characteristics. In CL02 you can create a class for
classification and then add the characteristics to it. In the standard class type 017 is used for classifying document info records.
Transaction CV01N/CV02N/CV03N are used in standard for document managment functionalities. Here you can create/edit/display your document info records. These document info records are like a frame for your original files which could be added to an info record and then checked into your Content Server.
During this check in function the KPRO function modules are used too.
For further information I would recommend you to see the SAP online documentation under http://help.sap.com.

CT04 BDC not showing tabstrip in SHDB
hi all
can anyone comment why does transaction: CT04 not show the tabs (subscreen) when recording via SHDB.
I am using ECC 6.0, can create / change characteristics in the usual manner using the transaction CT04, however, while attempting to record via SHDB, the portion(tabstrip/subscreen) of the transaction is not seen.
Why does this happen & Is there a way to work around ?
Kindly suggest.Hi

Batch create characteristics(ct04)
HI all,
I need to create batch characteristics from transaction ct04.
i have tried bapi_character_create but i am unable to create with it.
tried BDC when i try to recording can't see the Value tabs in it.
please give some suggestions, how can i do this.
if anyone have done this before, please forward sampel code to my email address
[email protected]Hi,
In CT04 the Single & Multiple values means.
For Example in characeteristics if you want to maintain only one reading for characteristics then select the Single value,If you want more than one value for the Characteristics then select Multiple values.
For Example say your characteristics is Speed.you are assign this characteristics to class Motor.
When you attach this class to Equipment say if only one value exist for Speed characteristics for all equipment then specify single value.or if more than one value then specify as Multiple alue.
for Motor A the Value of Speed characteristics is 1500 Rpm
for Motor B the Value of Speed characteristics is 1500 Rpm
for Motor C the Value of Speed characteristics is 1500 Rpm
In this case assign as Single value.
If for Motor A the Value of Speed characteristics is 1500 Rpm
for Motor B the Value of Speed characteristics is 1200 Rpm
for Motor C the Value of Speed characteristics is 1100 Rpm
In this case specify as Multiple value & Maintain in characteristic when you cretae the value in Equipment the 3 option will show to you.from that you can select.
For the 4 digit entry & template.
Check your User profile what template it has given.check with Basis Consultant & ask him to assign the proper user profile to user id.
In menu bar go to System -- User profile-- Own data & check the Default values tab.Check for the template there.

Transport of Characteristics management - CT04 and CL02
Hello,
I wonder if you like to carry all environments and characteristics of the classes created by material transactions CT04 and CL02, perform all the settings in the environment of testing and must pass to the productive environment, it is possible to transport? Or have to repeat all the configuration in other environments?
Thanks.Hi
Maintainenace of Charcteristics and classes is not a configuration, it is a master data.
Some of the master data can be transported like tax codes.
But we cannot transport classes and Characteristics. You need to replicate all the relevant data in production.
If you have a lot of data then prepare data migration tolls like LSMW, BDC and BAPI's
Thanks & Regards

Mass Upload of object dependency for characteristics value
Hi ,
I need to upload the object dependency for characteristics values through transaction CT04. My input data consists of characteristcs name , characteristics value and the object dependency (KNNAM) . Need to populate the KNNAM field alone .
Have tried with the FM 'CTMV_CHARACT_CHANGE_KNOWL_VAL' which suits my requirement but teh dependencies are not getting uploaded . Am I missing anything ? Since I do not have class details i.e class num and class type I am not able to use the BAPI like 'BAPI_CLASS_CHARVALUE_LOCAL_DEP ' . Please suggest any othe r suitable method .
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,
I'm doing an RFC scenario and publishing it as a java proxy. The BAPI i'm using here is BAPI_CHARACT_CREATE.
The scenario is working fine, but when i have executed the Create BAPI with some value, I'm not seeing that Value to be updated in the characteristics data given by Transaction "CT04"
I'm not an ABAPer, So if any1 can get me out of this, It'll be really helpful...
Thanks Guys

BAPI commit handling: The RFC adapter supports a single BAPI call including a commit in order to release a transaction and process the BAPI return table -
Dear PP gurus,
I have a question about batch valuation.
If i have a batch which is 100% pure thats why its value is motre than of 80% pure. i want valuate these two batches separetely. how can i do it.Please help.
thanks
sanketDear,
Batch valuation means assinging values to batch characteristics. it can be done from various places i.e QE11 or QA11. Characteristics can be also valuated in batch automatically & manualy.
For example If you are using these characteristics , valuation will be done automaitcally when you execute particular transaction.
LOBM_VFDAT expiration date, shelf life
LOBM_VERAB availability date
LOBM_RLZ_PROZ required remaining shelf life as a percentage
LOBM_UDCODE usage decision
LOBM_QSCORE quality score from usage decision
Batch characteristics can also be populated from MICS for that you need to follow this process.
1. Create general characteristics ( transaction CT04)
2. Create MIC and assign general characteristic to MIC.
3. Assign MIC to inspection plan or material specification
4. record results
Characteristic value will be automatically transfered to batch when you will record result for MIC.
Note - If you do not want to use material specification & only using inspection plan, you need to select check box in QM plant level config setting ( spro -- qm - maintain setting at plant level ---select plant ---select inspection lot compl tab ---select check box for batch valuation without material spec.
You have to use split valuation for a batch materail.
You can have a different Valuation Class for that material in Accounting1 view. If you want, you can also create a new Valuation Class in OMSK according to your requirement.
