Transcode problems in encore!?

Hello,
Wondering if anyone else has seen this...
I'm putting together a wedding DVD for a client which needs to be done by tomorrow. I've imported my premiere pro sequence into encore with the chapter markers and I'm trying to transcode it. Unfortunately every time I try it spends about an hour working on it, get more than half way through then gives up!
Has anyone else had this happen? I'm working on CS5 under OS 10.6.7 at the moment. At the moment I'm exporting the video from Premiere Pro using media encoder as I can't waste any more time with encore. It's a real pity as I'm only trying to use it for what it's meant to do. This software isn't cheap yet it doesn't do for me what it claims it can do on the website!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do wonder if it could be a plugin in prem that's causing the problem. I'm using MBL looks, mojo and mercalli. Some is rendered and some isn't.
Thanks again!
Bradley

I had problems too .. Mac OS X 10.6.7 .. and still have other issues.
Beware of video - audio filenames that have any characters other than letters of the alphabet.
Beware of odd audio codex files.
Root User .. New Project Build ... Repair DIsk Permissions in Disk Utility
I'm not sure which fixed my transcoding problem .. but I tried them all.
I'm about to build another DVD .. so once I get authoring there may be more to add and I'll post it here.

  • Transcode problem in Encore after 5.03 patch applied to Premiere Pro

Is this a BUG?????? does anyone else has similar problem or it is just me?
Media Encoder Or Encore stops transcoding video after new update 5.03 has been installed
PPro Project is 60 min using AVCHD30(60i) presets
Video AVCHD 1920x1080 60i Audio LPCM.
One video track with video clips trimmed down to 50min. Then short clip  of AVCHD 1920x1080 60i was trimmed of from the same video. And Then was added to track two, kind of to overlay the track one. Dissolve transitions were added to this clip. Nothing else was used on this project except the time line has numbered chapter marks.
Second audio track has prerecorded MP3 audio with (265kbps bit rate). No effects added to video or audio at all.
This project was exported via Dynamic link to Encore. Encore Project is set to blue ray. I dont have any menus just time line from premiere.
I encore I have transcode settings selected from asset properties as fallows.
    DVD NTSC DV High quality 8Mb CBR 1pass, Blu-ray 1920x1080i 29.97 Max quality H.264
And here is the problem - transcoding stops and freezing whole PC during the disk build process or during "Transcode now" option.
The process stops approximately at the point where time line in premiere has exact same video with dissolves on track 2 overlaying track 1.
Trying to transcode In Encore using AME, and that is freezing at approx the same point. 6 tries and no luck of transcoding.
Any ideas what could cause that.
My PC is quad core CPU Q6600, 8gb or Ram, Nvidia GTX4700, and couple of terabits of HDD.
I never had this problem before this latest patch.

    Update.
After uninstalling the CS5.5 Master Suite and running the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool I installed the CS5.0 Master Suite and opened up the same project file I was using in CS5.5 and same source video footage.  Premiere CS5.0 detected that the project was from a different version and converted it then it conformed the source video files and all was good.  So I opened up Encore and setup a new project the same as I had done previously with CS5.5 with the same transcoding settings on the dynamically linked sequence files from the Premiere project.  Clicked transcode now and it has been transcoding at 100% CPU usage and 40-60% memory usage it has been transcoding for about 8 hours now.
However, it did have one instance where it did like I had previously described  were the CPU usage sudenly dropped to about 5-10% and the memory maxed out for a good 20 minutes but then pulled out of it and has not had a problem since then.
In Windows Task Manager  it shows that it is Premiere and not Encore that keeps sucking up all the memory when transcoding.
By the way we are using 1080p with a mix of both 23.97fps and 60fps footage shot with a Panasonic HDC-TM700K.
I hope Adobe can figure this out soon for us.  I'm considering switching back to Final Cut Pro when the new version X comes out this month if it works better for me.  Hopefully that will not be necessary.  *hint hint nudge nudge*

  • Mainconcept Mpeg Pro HD and Encore transcode problems with blu-ray

I wanted to use premiere pro to edit my HDV files and import them into Encore to produce Blu-ray discs without transcoding. I have tried the Mainconcept Mpeg Pro HD plugin 3.1 as this should provide smart transconding of the edited file. I have been having difficulty in exporting from Premiere a file which will import into Encore and to flag it as don't transcode for blu-ray.
I have only been able to get Encore to not transcode if the file is demultiplexed into seperate video and audio files and that the video file must be a program stream. Unfortunatly I can only get Mpeg Pro to export a transport stream and I have to multiplex it onto a program stream for Encore.
Is there a way to export from Mpeg Pro with smart transcoding a file which will not be transcoded by Encore.
    Regards Trevor

If I choose the default BR disc export settings from the MainConcept MPEGPro export module, the file is automatically set to Multiplexing:None.
Is that what you are trying to do?
Another method to try is to make sure that the audio settings in a program stream from MPEGPro match the BR audio transcoding settings in Encore. If the audio is mismatched, then the whole file will be re-transcoded in Encore.

  • Very poor video quality after transcoding in Adobe Encore CS5.1

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I have very poor video quality after transcoding the video file (MPEG) in  Adobe Encore CS5.1. Below you see my used settings in my filmproject.
The problem exists after transcoding in Adobe Encore CS5.1. I checked all steps and found out that there is no problem until transcoding. My exported file  in MPEG has very good video and audio quality.
    Facts:
    1. Camcorder: Panasonic AG-AC160AEJ
Operating System : Windows 7, 64 Bit, Ultimate edition
    Source files: MTS files
    Recording settings (clip settings):
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Frame Rate: 25,00
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,0
    2. Sequence settings in Premiere Pro
Sequence was created from Clip directly with settings above.
    3. Exporting settings in Adobe Premiere Pro:
Match sequence settings was activated. Now other changes were set.
    4. Exported File:
    Video
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Data Transfer Rate: 25920 kBit / s
    Frame rate: 25
    Audio:
    Bit rate: 384 kBit / s
    Channels: 2 (stereo)
    Frequence: 48 kHz
    5. Transcoding settings in Adobe Encore:
I used different transcoding settings such as automatic DVD Transcoding, CBR and VBR.I also set “use maximum render quality”. But all results were always the same: very poor quality.
Why does the encore transcoding cause such bad video quality?
How can I solve this problem?
    Please help me soon.
    Best regards.

    Hi Ann,
    1) I did not only „Automatic (based on source)“ options in my tests, but also many other customized options.
The results are very poor. I have done a new test with the following settings. The result is also poor:
    Download link: http://www.klavierlehrer-bayern.de/download/test_mpeg2dvd_1.m2v
    Export Settings:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
    Preset: Custom
Codec: MainConcept MPEG Video, Quality: 5
    Frame Rate: 25 fps
    Field Order: Upper
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Automatic (based on source)
    Render at Maximum Rate: [active]
    Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 2 pass
    Minimum Bitrate (Mbps): 5
    Target Bitrate (Mbps): 9
    Maximum Bitrate (Mbps): 9
    GOP Settings
    M Frames: 4
    N Frames: 12
    Use Maximum Render Quality: [active]
    Multiplexer: None
    2) Why shouldn’t I use the “Match Sequence Settings” in exporting? Because of the big output file size?
I used it and the results are very good as I expected:
    Download link: http://www.klavierlehrer-bayern.de/download/test_MatchSequenceSettings.mpeg
    Export Settings
    Match Sequence Settings [selected]
    1920 x 1080, 25 fps, Upper, Quality 50
    User Maximum Render Quality: [active]
    3) I tried also Dynamic Link in PremierePro (to Encore).
    The results are also poor.
    4) I will test also LagarithLoslessCodec and frameserving +DGMPGDec. But the video is vertical long drawn-ot.
I think I did not use it correctly.

  • Problem starting Encore CS6

I have Adobe Production CS6.  I am having problems starting Encore.  It takes too long to start.  On a quad core PC it starts almost immediately, on a second hex core i7 PC it takes ages to initialize transcoding.  I tried installed elements for Encore CS6 that appears to have been only partially installed.  The Dynamic link also has the same problem.  Also, the sound is not transferring regularly.  Sometimes it transfers other times it does not for the same Premier Pro CS6 project.  Editing and creating a menu in Photoshop does not transfer to Encore.  I have a problem that perhaps needs to be solved by reinstalling Encore.
What are my options to fix the problem?

Thank you for pointing me to where I can find the full library content.  I did download what I believed was the correct download following Adobe instructions but it did not provide a full library.
The word "assist" was not part of the description in the Adobe article on buttons but my way of expressing the utility of the button menu template.  I started with machine language programming then progressed all the way up to Microsoft's Visual Studio where functions are listed to insert into templates for programming.  This saves time by eliminating line by line programming for the most part.  In the same Adobe, "Using Photoshop to create menus" article that starts with the heading, "About creating menus in Photoshop" is a table of button commands that includes the shortcuts for creating various functional buttons starting with + then =  etc. within brackets.  Included is the wording:
"Instead of creating menus from scratch in Photoshop and adding all the prefixes manually, you may want to open a menu template that’s similar to the one you want to create, save it as a Photoshop file, and then edit the exported file in Photoshop."
I do not know how this menu template works but I am hoping that it does provide a shortcut to create buttons in the layer process in Photoshop.
I find that Adobe support for answers to my questions is often like looking for a needle in the haystack.  There is no url to lead me to where I can find such a menu template with layer prefixes, nor in the same artilicle does a url "Video about creating menus in Photoshop" shortcut point me directly to where the video is found.  Instead, I find myself in the "Learn and Support" section expecting me to find it myself.
Is there such a menu template for buttons and where can I find it?

  • Recurring problem with encore CS3 for windows - pgc error

    Hi,
I've been looking through the solutions to pcg errors and not finding what i need.
A couple of years ago I was getting these messages and looked them up here, found a workaround that I've been using since then. All of the sudden the problem is back and none of the workarounds work.
    My workflow is as follows:
Create a timeline in Premiere and export as m2v (for dvd) import into encore add menu and burn. This has worked many many times. When it first started happening i employed the workaround of moving the m2v and wav files to a different folder (without the other files). Like I said this has worked for a couple of years. Now I keep getting error message referencing the last few frames of the timeline.
When I bring the m2v file into encore there is an extra approx. 9 minutes of black at the end of the timeline (there should only be 30 seconds of black). When I look at the file in a media player the extra black isn't there.
Does anybody know what to do here? Currently I am reexporting all timelines from premiere as .avi files and will try transcoding them in Encore (this worked the other day), but I have 6 hours worth of footage to retranscode now - so much wasted time.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Michelle

  • Problem with Encore CS4 (and Windows 7, possibly)

    Greetings:
Anybody else having this problem? First I'll get my system blood work out of the way. It's a brand new HP Pavillion.
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
    8GB RAM
    Over 700GB of FREE harddrive
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5 GHz
Video Chip Set: Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset
I have ensured that everything is updated. This includes:
    All CS4 Applications
    Windows 7
    My Graphics Card Driver
    My Display Driver
I have also updated the Roxio PX Engine to V4.18.16a. I had read on a forum that Encore uses this driver and it should be up to date.
OK, the problem, which I can reproduce with the simplest Encore project:
    1.     Start Encore
    2.     Create a new project - specify DVD - everything else id default.
    3.     Create a timeline
    4.     Import asset. It is a simple Standard Video AVI file, 720x480.
    5.     Select timeline for editing
    Here's what happens:
    A) Monitor window behaves normally. I can click play and watch the imported video. Sound is fine, everything is fine. I can start and stop the play back freely. All is well.
    B) Now, I can do a number of things to create the problem I am having. The simplest is to just go to the timeline editor, select the AVI asset that has just been there, running fine, and remove it from the time line. At this point, the monitor window's internal frame that used to represent the video view port area, disappears. By "disappears", I mean that the Monitor window goes to the background color which is used for empty, unused window regions. What had been there before was a jet-black frame representing the video view area
Now, if I go to the project window and re-select the AVI asset that I was just viewing and put it BACK into the timeline, the Monitor does not restore. If I play the timeline, the monitor is still blank, although I can hear sound.
In addition to this, I also find that Encore has slowed so that response to the simplest operation is extremely slow. It doesn't crash, although, it might if I hang around long enough - but I don't. If I shut down Encore and restart it, it will work OK until I start manipulating video assets again and then the same thing will happen.
I should mention that, yes, I have this new computer but I was using Encore on an older and much slower XP system with less memory and drive space and I had no trouble with encore. I should also point out that the AVI assets that I use to produce this problem are the same ones I had used successfully on the older system.
Is there anyone out there that would find this problem familiar? Anyone find a solution?
Thanks in advance to anyone that responds.

    Hi John:
Thanks but, I had already done this. I was having THAT problem with Encore (could not even initialize before tanking) when I first installed it and that's when I updated the Roxio engine. I don't know what else there is to update or correct at this point.
There was one thing that occurred to me: When I was using XP, I had to disable Open GL in order to get Encore to stabilize. I've heard one recommendation for Encore that one must disable graphics acceleration. I would like try that here except I can't figure out how to do that in Windows 7.
I've been Googling "Windows 7 Disable Graphics Accel" and have come up with nothing useful.
Thanks for your help though and if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.

  • Encore CS5 transcoding problem

I am using Win7 and trying to create a DVD in Encore CS5, using AVI files created in Prem Pro and can view in Monitor or Preview windows ok. When I transcode and then view in Monitor or Preview window the display simply displays as all horizontal green lines, best described as noise. It could be a field dominance problem...Has anyone had this ?. I am using PAL DV transcodes with Lower field first and have tried reloading all software on a computer with different graphics card etc...same result!. This has previously worked for me using Encore CS2

Can you give us the Export settings on those DV-AVI files? Should be pretty plain-vanilla, but let's get that out of the way first.
Also, are those files muxed, i.e. combined Audio and Video?
If so, try with elemental/elementary streams, i.e. one Audio-only PCM/WAV (or fully-DVD-compliant DD AC3) @ 48KHz 16-bit, and the one DV-AVI Video-only. Import that DV-AVI Video-only file as a Timeline, and the PCM/WAV as an Asset. In En, just drag the WAV from the Project Panel to the appropriate Timeline, where it will snap into place. Test this workflow.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Encore Transcoding Problem

    Dell,
Microsoft XP P Intel Xeon 2.27Ghz 2.5 GB of RAM
I have recently sucessfully burned a 30 min DVD and when I tried to do the next one, it failed immediatly and has failed since. Often it is the classic PPRoheadless.exe error sign that comes up when it is taking too long and then crashes.  Some of these files from Premiere contain files that are directly from the CANNON camera in a m2ts. file or something, AVI, FLV etc, so I dont know if that is the root of the problem. I have been cleaning my disc drive out of unecessary files and have 7 GB available on my C:. ( i know that is not alot, have been doing a disc clean up as i type).
So far for solutions i've got the suggestion of re-installing, but will I have 10 VERY VERY important videos done that need to be shipped out this week and am afraid of losing a great deal of my final projects ( like when it says the media source is gone where the old clip used to be). I will try to re-install it, most of the raw footage are saved on seperate Terabyte external drives.
Are there any other ideas? is it that i need a lot more space available?  let me know if you need more details.

What KIND of external drives?  USB/Firewire/Esata? (usb drives are too slow in data transfer for video editing)

  • Transcoder-Problem bei Adobe Encore 1.5

    Hallo zusammen,

  • Encore 2.0 Transcode is Ghosting, Encore 1.5 is No Ghosting

Exported my Premiere Pro 2.0 sequence to a Uncompressed Progressive Quicktime Movie. 720x480 (Footage was all progressive)
Imported into Encore and transcoded with the Progressive setting and the DVD has a "Ghosting" effect anywhere there is motion. Also tried transcodeing with the DV setting and got the same results.
Imported the same QT movie into Encore 1.5 and transcoded with the Progressive setting and got fine results. No "ghost" effect.
Anyone have similar results? Any ideas?

Yes, same problem here with .avi files. Looks great in PPO 2.0 and ghosting/jittery in Encore. Cannot produce a proper 24P video in Encore with 2:3 pulldown. All exports in .wmv, .mov, Flash look good.
I mean, 2:3 pulldown has only been in use for TV for what, 40 or 50 years? Why so hard now? And Final Cut is ALL ABOUT 24P and they have it worked out!

  • Can't Transcode in either Encore or PPro

The prior Components are the same as when I was successfully making movies (32)with PPro 1.5 and Encore 1.5.
Audition 1.5, PPro 2.0 and Encore 2.0 on board.
    All drives defragged and scanned.
MoBo swapped out. Problem was there also.
    Memory checked --OK.
Drives all checked with Seagate Seatools -- OK.
File I'm trying to transcode is 16.3 Gig.
In Encore I can preview the project without error, when I try making an image file it either quits or freezes.
If I go back to PPro and try to export either an .avi file or a Mpeg2-DVD it freezes at random times. Once I got it as long as 90 minutes.
This problem has plagued me for over a month and I just can't seem to figure it out. I forgot to mention I have a ton of space on the HD's.
What exactly goes on during this transcoding process? Any ideas on what I can do to get the transcoding done? I mention PPro here because they both use the same encoder and maybe my problem lies there, though I doubt it.

    Ruud,
Gspot showed there was a problem with the file. What it said was of the 130K frames, most were not needed. I went back to the editor and reconstructed the 130K file. Had problems trying to export to M2v. PPro 2.0 would freeze every time, sometimes in a few minutes, sometimes just short of completing, approx 2 hours(this was a 2 pass vbr setup). I experienced problems just trying to make an AVI file for importing into Encore 2.0. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since I first started this journey(over 300 hours). My first shot at elation occurred when I decided to try an m2v at vbr 1 pass instead of 2 pass. It worked. I say this because of late I have successfully made an Avi file, Imported the timeline and in fact satisfactorily made an m2v file (2 pass). The m2v was also brought into Encore 2.0. Though I have 4 HD's, it seems to me that as I am moving toward a successful product, I'm finding that I've located all my assets on one HD. Is this the way to go? I'd like to thank the alert for using Gspot. And I will, always. I believe that if I had used Gspot earlier I would not have been trying to fix the problem using a bad asset.
I've been able to make an iso file, though having trouble making a playable disc.
