Transcoding Problems

Hello,
Im new to this forum
Im having a some trouble with transcoding a movie file
The video was originally shot in HD.
It was edited in Premiere Pro CS3
Exported to as an AVI movie file.
Imported to Encore CS3 for DVD authoring
Here's the where problem begins:
So, as I tried to transcode this AVI movie file, it does well while transcoding the video portion.
As it's almost about to begin importing, a window pops up that reads "Adobe Encore Debug Event" and then another that reads "An Input Contract Violation has Ocurred".
This has been going on since yesterday & I really like using Encore.
I think it's a great program.
I just need some help to get past this hurdle & continue to enjoy using it.

thanks for your response
I exported  it (Premiere CS3) as a movie
(H.264)
Max Bit Rate
Progressive Scan
Then imported it to Encore as an asset.

  • Transcode problems in encore!?

    Hello,
Wondering if anyone else has seen this...
I'm putting together a wedding DVD for a client which needs to be done by tomorrow. I've imported my premiere pro sequence into encore with the chapter markers and I'm trying to transcode it. Unfortunately every time I try it spends about an hour working on it, get more than half way through then gives up!
Has anyone else had this happen? I'm working on CS5 under OS 10.6.7 at the moment. At the moment I'm exporting the video from Premiere Pro using media encoder as I can't waste any more time with encore. It's a real pity as I'm only trying to use it for what it's meant to do. This software isn't cheap yet it doesn't do for me what it claims it can do on the website!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do wonder if it could be a plugin in prem that's causing the problem. I'm using MBL looks, mojo and mercalli. Some is rendered and some isn't.
    Thanks again!
    Bradley

I had problems too .. Mac OS X 10.6.7 .. and still have other issues.
Beware of video - audio filenames that have any characters other than letters of the alphabet.
Beware of odd audio codex files.
Root User .. New Project Build ... Repair DIsk Permissions in Disk Utility
I'm not sure which fixed my transcoding problem .. but I tried them all.
I'm about to build another DVD .. so once I get authoring there may be more to add and I'll post it here.

  • Compressor transcode problem

I have recent problem with Compressor: ridiculously slow at transcoding D7 files to Pro Res. Problem not actually in the transcode itself but takes the computer a bizarrely long time to apply the codec to each item before I can submit the batch: spinning wheel of doom for hours!
Strange thing is it's happened recently after working ok in the past and I cant see whats changed. Reckon it can only be an OSX update BUT i've seen this (unresolved) problem on old threads here and elsewhere, all archived now for some reason and no real answers for such a common issue. Can only do 10 files at a time but this is hardly 'batch processing' !
I've tried Compressor Repair from here: http://slccut.com/tutorials/40-apple...ng-preferences but this doesn't seem to help. Disconnected all ext HD's but no joy. I'm tearing my hair out as I've got 200 D7 files to transcode to ProRes and a deadline to meet! Anyone got any feasible ideas? (Would updating to latest OS help? I realise this sounds crazy 'solution' given that it was ok before on same OS but Im desperate now)
    Compressor 3.5.3 (FCS3)
    OS X 10.6.8 on MacPro 12 core, 12GB RAM

No, looks like you are right thanks Russ: easy to batch process and you can set up a Preset for your encoder settings and SUPER fast compared to Compressor - which is both exciting and slightly worrying at the same time. (How can Streamclip do it so fast if Compressor is so horribly lumpy? Does it miss something out? Will FCP be just as happy with the files? Has my time spent transcoding in the past just been cut down to nothing with no more swearing at the computer and no more hanging around? ) We'll see. I'll let you know...

  • Encore CS5 transcoding problem

I am using Win7 and trying to create a DVD in Encore CS5, using AVI files created in Prem Pro and can view in Monitor or Preview windows ok. When I transcode and then view in Monitor or Preview window the display simply displays as all horizontal green lines, best described as noise. It could be a field dominance problem...Has anyone had this ?. I am using PAL DV transcodes with Lower field first and have tried reloading all software on a computer with different graphics card etc...same result!. This has previously worked for me using Encore CS2

Can you give us the Export settings on those DV-AVI files? Should be pretty plain-vanilla, but let's get that out of the way first.
Also, are those files muxed, i.e. combined Audio and Video?
If so, try with elemental/elementary streams, i.e. one Audio-only PCM/WAV (or fully-DVD-compliant DD AC3) @ 48KHz 16-bit, and the one DV-AVI Video-only. Import that DV-AVI Video-only file as a Timeline, and the PCM/WAV as an Asset. In En, just drag the WAV from the Project Panel to the appropriate Timeline, where it will snap into place. Test this workflow.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Transcode problem in Encore after 5.03 patch applied to Premiere Pro

Is this a BUG?????? does anyone else has similar problem or it is just me?
Media Encoder Or Encore stops transcoding video after new update 5.03 has been installed
PPro Project is 60 min using AVCHD30(60i) presets
Video AVCHD 1920x1080 60i Audio LPCM.
One video track with video clips trimmed down to 50min. Then short clip  of AVCHD 1920x1080 60i was trimmed of from the same video. And Then was added to track two, kind of to overlay the track one. Dissolve transitions were added to this clip. Nothing else was used on this project except the time line has numbered chapter marks.
Second audio track has prerecorded MP3 audio with (265kbps bit rate). No effects added to video or audio at all.
This project was exported via Dynamic link to Encore. Encore Project is set to blue ray. I dont have any menus just time line from premiere.
I encore I have transcode settings selected from asset properties as fallows.
    DVD NTSC DV High quality 8Mb CBR 1pass, Blu-ray 1920x1080i 29.97 Max quality H.264
And here is the problem - transcoding stops and freezing whole PC during the disk build process or during "Transcode now" option.
The process stops approximately at the point where time line in premiere has exact same video with dissolves on track 2 overlaying track 1.
Trying to transcode In Encore using AME, and that is freezing at approx the same point. 6 tries and no luck of transcoding.
Any ideas what could cause that.
My PC is quad core CPU Q6600, 8gb or Ram, Nvidia GTX4700, and couple of terabits of HDD.
I never had this problem before this latest patch.
    Regards
    Andrey

    Update.
After uninstalling the CS5.5 Master Suite and running the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool I installed the CS5.0 Master Suite and opened up the same project file I was using in CS5.5 and same source video footage.  Premiere CS5.0 detected that the project was from a different version and converted it then it conformed the source video files and all was good.  So I opened up Encore and setup a new project the same as I had done previously with CS5.5 with the same transcoding settings on the dynamically linked sequence files from the Premiere project.  Clicked transcode now and it has been transcoding at 100% CPU usage and 40-60% memory usage it has been transcoding for about 8 hours now.
However, it did have one instance where it did like I had previously described  were the CPU usage sudenly dropped to about 5-10% and the memory maxed out for a good 20 minutes but then pulled out of it and has not had a problem since then.
In Windows Task Manager  it shows that it is Premiere and not Encore that keeps sucking up all the memory when transcoding.
By the way we are using 1080p with a mix of both 23.97fps and 60fps footage shot with a Panasonic HDC-TM700K.
I hope Adobe can figure this out soon for us.  I'm considering switching back to Final Cut Pro when the new version X comes out this month if it works better for me.  Hopefully that will not be necessary.  *hint hint nudge nudge*

  • IP2IP Gateway Transcoding Problem

I have a test IP to IP Gateway on 2811 with PVDM2-16 DSPs.
The software is c2800nm-ipvoice_ivs-mz version 12.3(11)T7.
Accortding to the documentation it should be able to do transcoding between inbound
and ourbound call legs (Transcoding G.711-G.729). However, the configuration guide points to
“Configuring Enhanced Conferencing and Transcoding for Voice Gateway Routers” chapter
of the Cisco CallManager and Cisco IOS Interoperability Guide. This configuration is for
CallManager transcoders. But I need the gateway to do transcoidng and do so with NO need
for CallManager. The gatway is not registered in gatekeeper also. It should be standalone
and make static routing of h323 calls between endpoints.
I've searched in the documentation but I did not find any configurations
that I can use. I made a lot of tests with diferents configurations but when there is no match
in codec betweend in and out legs (with slowstart) the debug says:
*Aug 18 11:10:03.030: //2546/3AD381928396/H323/cch323_prepare_preferred_codec_list: Check the filter: Not a single match
*Aug 18 11:10:03.030: //2546/3AD381928396/H323/cch323_peer_caps_ind_common: No Matching Codec after filtering. Hence try to find xcoder
When faststart is enabled the two call legs have different codecs in " show call history " but I here strange sounds
which means that there is no proper ( or no at all) transocding in the gateway but the endpints try to decode the incorect codec.
So I don't know if this is some problem in this recent version of IOS or I have to make some reconfigurations or even change the DSPs.
Or may be it's not (yet) possible to to this kind of transcoding and I misunderstood the features description in the docs?
    Any ideas are welcome!

I could go out-of-topic, but the best thing (with a reasonable price) I have seen to do codec translation is the MERA MVTS softswitch.
Asterisk PBX can do it as well, but it need licenses for the G729 codec and its H323 support is crappy.

  • Transcoding Problems & Use Of An External Monitor with FCE HD

My department is slowly making the change over to HDV and we have a few immediate concerns regarding FCE HD.
When printing to video, its takes about 4-5 minutes to Transcode per 1 minute of footage.
Is there any way to shorten or eliminate this time period? With our students making plenty of 10 minute videos, this Transcoding Time could clog up hours and hours of time in our editing rooms.
Also, I am told that the latest version of FCE is not yet compatible with the use of external monitors for showing footage off of a FCE timeline. I hear there are certain expensive converter boxes you can purchase to remedy this problem.
Is there any other solution to this???
    Thanks,
    Marc Griffin

    Marc,
Have you rendered all the footage first, and mixed down the audio? (The commands are Sequence>RenderAll>Both and Sequence>RenderOnly>Mixdown). You should do both before you export any video. Select all clips in your timeline and run both commands.
FCE can show your video (what you called timeline) via FireWire out. You would need a Firewire->analog converter to connect your external monitor. The Canopus ADVC110 is a nice little unit that will do an excellent job, currently about $240USD. Alternatively, many people use their miniDV camcorders as a passthrough device to do the same conversion so they can watch their video on a real video monitor while editing.

  • Consolidate and Transcode problem

    Hi,
I'm having a strange issue with a 10 minute sequence. The original media has come from many different sources, but it is all QT, albeit in various different flavours. When I project manage the sequence it looks to be fine, however, when I play it back the audio on some clips is out of sync. On some of the clips I can re-link to the audio in the project, on other clips it still re-links to the correct audio, but with incorrect in & out points.
I have tried different methods of Project Managing (altering the Source/Format/Preset drop downs) and the only box I have checked is: Exclude Unused Clips.
Here're 2 screen grabs of the first instance in the sequence where this occurred. The first is the original sequence, the second is the Project Managed version - both with the Metadata panel open. This particular version was Project Managed using the following settings:
    Source: Individual Clips
    Format: Quicktime
Preset: Match Source - Apple Pro Res 422 (LT)
Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone know of a work around/fix?
    My system details:
Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 (8.2.0)
    Mac Pro (Late 2013)
    3.5GHz 6-core Intel Xeon E5
    16GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC
    AMD Firepro D500 3072 MB
    Yosemite OSX 10.10.3
    AJA ioXT v.12.2.0
    Thanks in advance!

    Okay,
I'm back to square one. I have tried a number of possible solutions, but nothing has worked. I either get the original synching problem outlined above, or PP links to incorrect channels.
One of my methods was to (painstakingly) convert all of the clips, create a new project, and create a new sequence:
    1. Modify Clip > Audio Channels >
    Preset: Mono
    Channel Format: Mono
    2. Create a new project. In Premiere Pro > Preferences > Audio >  select Mono as the default Audio Setting
    3. Create a new Sequence and create 10 x new Mono audio tracks
    4. Imported the sequence from the original project which I had converted to Mono. The audio looked the same as the original sequence (2 x channels on A1 – a Mono track), but it did at least play out as Mono – I was hoping at this stage to see mono waveforms on mono tracks.
    5. Then I attempted to consolidate and transcode. No dice. The problem seems to be that one of the problematic clips (which originally had 3 x stereo pairs) is defaulting to the original stereo channel on track one. I used the audio from track two. When I convert it to mono, it’s looking at the wrong audio. This is extremely frustrating as the audio I don’t require doesn’t exist in the sequence at all! It is simply associated with the source clip.
I have a clean and split version for safety, but I really need to preserve my edit, and decrease the project size. I’m stuck…

  • Warp Stabilizer Transcode Problem

I shoot in 720 30p, and I normally render to an MP4 file. I need to create a DVD, and I'm using Encore for that. But I think my problem is with Premiere Pro--here's what it is: I use the Warp Stabilizer effect to smooth out my jib shots. When I render out from my PP timeline to MPEG2-DVD, I get the striped band across the screen, telling me that the effect is currently stabilizing. If you use the Warp Stabilizer, you know what I'm talking about.
I'm guessing that as the timeline is transcoded to MPEG2 (an m2v and accompanying wav and xmp files), PP has to rerun the stabilizer for the transcode, and the transcoder proceeds before stabilization is complete.
Has anyone else come across this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks for your help.

After testing a bit more, I discovered that on the second attempt, the warp-stabilized clips transcoded correctly, with no 'Stabilizing' band across the screen. Apparently, the stabilization only ran once once when I changed the export settings from 720 30p to DVD.

  • Mainconcept Mpeg Pro HD and Encore transcode problems with blu-ray

I wanted to use premiere pro to edit my HDV files and import them into Encore to produce Blu-ray discs without transcoding. I have tried the Mainconcept Mpeg Pro HD plugin 3.1 as this should provide smart transconding of the edited file. I have been having difficulty in exporting from Premiere a file which will import into Encore and to flag it as don't transcode for blu-ray.
I have only been able to get Encore to not transcode if the file is demultiplexed into seperate video and audio files and that the video file must be a program stream. Unfortunatly I can only get Mpeg Pro to export a transport stream and I have to multiplex it onto a program stream for Encore.
Is there a way to export from Mpeg Pro with smart transcoding a file which will not be transcoded by Encore.
    Regards Trevor

If I choose the default BR disc export settings from the MainConcept MPEGPro export module, the file is automatically set to Multiplexing:None.
Is that what you are trying to do?
Another method to try is to make sure that the audio settings in a program stream from MPEGPro match the BR audio transcoding settings in Encore. If the audio is mismatched, then the whole file will be re-transcoded in Encore.

  • H.264 Quality and Transcoding Problems After 7.1 Update

Since 11/1, my CC manager has been telling me about updates for After Effects, Premiere, and Flash, but every time I tried to update, the update failed. (From the error message it appeared to be a corrupted download. It said to try downloading it again but there's no option to do that.)  I found that the main update for all 3 was to Media Encoder, so today I downloaded and installed the Media Encoder 7.1 update from Adobe's website, and then CC was able to finish updating the apps.  Now, when I use ME to render a Premiere project into H.264 format, the quality in general is awful, and any mp4 files in the project get rendered as a blank green.
Is there a way I can uninstill and reinstall just Media Encoder without uninstalling all of CC?  I've built up a lot of render presets and stuff in Premiere and AE and I just don't want to have to go through app folders and find all that junk to back it up.  I'm on Windows 7 Enterprise x64 with a Quadro 4000.  I did try rendering software only though and the same thing happened.  Exporting directly from Premiere instead of ME worked like a charm.

I solved the problem by downloading and installing the Premiere Pro and After Effects patches from the same place as the Media Encoder update.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/new.jsp
It seem to be working okay now.

  • Encore Transcoding Problem

    Dell,
Microsoft XP P Intel Xeon 2.27Ghz 2.5 GB of RAM
I have recently sucessfully burned a 30 min DVD and when I tried to do the next one, it failed immediatly and has failed since. Often it is the classic PPRoheadless.exe error sign that comes up when it is taking too long and then crashes.  Some of these files from Premiere contain files that are directly from the CANNON camera in a m2ts. file or something, AVI, FLV etc, so I dont know if that is the root of the problem. I have been cleaning my disc drive out of unecessary files and have 7 GB available on my C:. ( i know that is not alot, have been doing a disc clean up as i type).
So far for solutions i've got the suggestion of re-installing, but will I have 10 VERY VERY important videos done that need to be shipped out this week and am afraid of losing a great deal of my final projects ( like when it says the media source is gone where the old clip used to be). I will try to re-install it, most of the raw footage are saved on seperate Terabyte external drives.
Are there any other ideas? is it that i need a lot more space available?  let me know if you need more details.

What KIND of external drives?  USB/Firewire/Esata? (usb drives are too slow in data transfer for video editing)

  • Panasonic AF-101 Transcode Problems

I've dragged and dropped the entire content of the SD card from the camera onto an internal hard drive and want to transcode the files into a ProRes codec for editing in FCP7.
I have attempted a log and transfer, however when I try and add files to the list I receive an error message: "filename contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media."
I have tried converting using Toast but I end up with a weirdly pixelated end file, and Wondershare Video Converter is just shocking so let's not go there.
I'm simply trying to transcode the footage into ProRes, Compressor won't even look at it, VLC is the only thing that plays it back and it's pretty glitchy at best.
Sadly I no longer have the SD card with original files on it as it was a hire camera.
Any advice welcome, if I have omitted any crucial information please let me know.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Ignore this - I was just being spesh. Sussed out now that I had to select the first folder, rather than navigating through to where the rushes were within the labrynth of incomprehensible folder names.. my bad.

  • Premiere Elements transcoding error

After dozens of hours editing I get a transcoding error when trying to burn a project to disk in Premiere Elements 12. Can anyone suggest a solution or workaround?

Sorry I didn't realise email responses would not show up in the forum correctly. Here is my response to ATR posted using the forum:
