Transfer Adobe Reader settings to another PC

I don't like the default way in which Adobe Reader gets setup (particularly which buttons get shown on the toolbar)
So every time I install it on a new PC I have to spend some time setting it up as I like it.
Is it possible to transfer or sync Adobe Reader settings from one PC to another?
Thanks

You need the Adobe Customization Wizard. You can find it at the bottom of this page: Adobe - Acrobat : For Windows

how do i transfer adobe reader from my desk top to a new lap top?

You move it as you would move any other data files or documents; nothing special about PDF files.
Easiest way is to copy them to a memory stick.
Another way is to upload them to Files or Workspaces at Acrobat.com

  • How to open Adobe Reader file from another native IOS application?

There is an existing thread, but I want to re-open it because I think this is an important feature that we need badly.  I was wondering if there is any plan to add this feature so we can open PDFs directly into Adobe from the web / other apps.
How to open Adobe Reader file from another native IOS application?
Basically, we just want to use a custom URL scheme to open a specific document in the App.  Currently, this only opens the app but does not load the file.
    APB

Not to hijack the conversation but I can explain why this would be useful for both the above case and another.
What I believe Pavel is talking about is setting up a "URL Scheme" for the Adobe Acrobat iOS application so that you can easily open a PDF specifically in Adobe Acrobat iOS from other native applications and even from web applications opened within Safari. This is particularly useful if your application requires some of the specific features in Adobe Reader iOS to grant them the best experience possible and you want to encourage this.
Another case: If you're using Adobe Livecycle's document security modules (that encrypts PDF files so that Adobe Acrobat must "phone home" to decrypt and view the document), these PDF's can only be viewed inside the Adobe Acrobat application and appear as blank in most other PDF readers. Having a URL scheme allows your application utilising this functionality to have a 1 click step to view the PDF rather than the current non-user friendly process:
    - Within Safari, touch the PDF link (appears as blank in the default Safari PDF reader, which in itself is confusing)
      - Touch "Open in..."
      - Touch "Adobe Acrobat"
We have an immediate need for this functionality for the example above. I can resubmit it in a separate post if necessary.

  • How do I transfer Adobe Reader to my new computer

I have purchased a new Windows 8 Notebook and would like to reinstall Adobe Reader X onto it. I have purchased the program for my previous computer and only downloaded it once. How do I transfer it to my new computer?

It is Adobe Reader X  I need to reinstall which was a paid version.  I think I paid about $120 for it. I added PDF Complete by the look of it in Sept 2011.
I also checked my old Archived emails but cannot find and email with the serial number. Plus I can't even see when I installed it because the last software update is the date shown under my programs folder.
I just checked my account again and it is not shown. I just updated a change to my email address aboyt 2 mionths ago but don't see why that should have changed my account status.
my old email address was [email protected] if that helps to locate something
I have a receipt I found for PDF Complete but it isn't shown on my account either.
    Confused, sorry.

  • Adobe Reader Settings after update from X to XI

In The Adobe Reader X the field "Sign As" in the window "Sign Document" shows the displayname from the Certificate. This field shows now in Adobe Reader XI the Name of the User (issued to + issued by + expiration date). How can I change this settings?  kind regards U. Wiontzek

    Thanks all...
We inadvertently updated a few of our 400 users to vXI and as usual with any Adobe update it breaks things.
As well as the Outlook 2003 issue that brought most of these users to a standstill today when they wanted to mail a form, odd things happen with font size while completing some form fields (really tiny text that expands normally when the field is exited).
Tend to agree that each iteration of Acrobat makes ditching it more of an imperative.

  • What Adobe Reader settings are required to efile my state tax return?

When I try to submit the saved pdf in Adobe Reader, it does not go through (the error is non-specific).  In Preferences, Acrobat JavaScript is enabled and in Trust Manager, wi.gov is set to Always Allow.

Some of the text might not really be text, but but graphics. You can try to use Acrobat’s OCR tools. You need to make sure the Text Recognition toolset is available for you to use the OCR (Optical Character Reader).

  • Want to transfer from old computer to new computer and discontinue using old computer. Which computer should be the main computer in the setup? Or should I transfer bookmarks and settings by another method instead of using sync?

Have a computer which I will need to retire (bad hard drive), 32 bit OS. Have new computer 64 bit OS. Both computers have Firefox 5. Old machine on Windows 2000, new one on Windows 7. Old computer has all the bookmarks and settings that I need for the new computer. Also have Zotero on the old computer and would like to transfer it to the new computer. Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Much thanks.

    Hi,
Regarding bookmarks, settings and history, Firefox Sync can definitively help even if it's not it's primary goal. You would need to transfer your Zotero configuration manually though.
In order to transfer your data using Sync follow this instructions making your new computer the primary device: [[How to sync Firefox settings between computers]].
Once everything is set up make sure that you have all the information in the new computer. After it, you should be able to retire your old computer without any issue. Remember, that if you remove the bookmarks before disconnecting your old computer they would be removed from your Sync account too.

As long as the other computer is on the same network as the main itunes computer,  you can turn on home sharing on both and you will be able to see the itunes library on the second computer.
If you turn on itunes match, you wlll be able to see your music on any computer (outside your network) which has internet connectivity and which has your itunes account id set up on that external computer.

  • Problem opening pdf files with Adobe Reader in Windows 7

I bought a new Dell (Inspiron 5110) with pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium (Version 6.1 SP1, 64 bit) and pre-installed Adobe Reader X (10.1.1). I cannot open ANY of my old pdf files with the Adobe reader (even after I re-installed the Adobe Reader). On another computer with Windows 7 I get the same error message. When I installed several other pdf-readers (Sumatra, Foxit, ..) I can still not open the pdf's -- but all the pdf's still open under Windows XP on my old computer and they also open on all my colleagues' non-Windows 7 computers. So it appears to be a Windows 7 problem. The Adobe error message says 'Adobe Reader could not open _.pdf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (…..).
N.B.: I can download pdf files from the internet and can then open these 'new' pdf files with Adobe Reader X.
N.B.2.: Most of the 'old' pdf files are scientific articles downloaded from various journal websites 2002-2011, so their quality should be out of question.
N.B.3.:I've transfered the files via memory stick and portable HD.
N.B.4.: If I try to open the pdf's via 'Open with' the problem remains the same.
N.B.5.: When, on my Win7 Dell, I've uploaded/attached one of these old pdf files to an email the rtecipient could not tead it. But he could read it when I'd sent the same file from my old Win XP computer.
N.B.6.: I have repeated this last observation: When I upload an old pdf file on my Win7 Dell to my email account and then send it to myself, I cannot open/read it on my Win XP (nor on the Dell, of course). Although the file size is precisely the same.
N.B.7.: When I download a new pdf on my Dell, then upload/attach it to an email also on the Dell and send it to myself, I can download and read the attached pdf on both computers.
Would be grateful for any suggestions.

    This is really strange.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I can understand, any PDF which is launched on your Win 7 OS fails to open, even though the same file works perfectly fine on your Win XP machine?
Could you please run a full system anti virus scan on the said PDFs that are present on your local system. It could be a case of infected PDFs.
Also, it would be great if you could try and download some of the erroneous PDFs from the web again, and see if you experience the same behavior.
    Thanks
    Ankit

  • Windows vista, internet explorer 8 and adobe reader 9

I have windows vista, internet explorer 8 and adobe reader 9.  When i open pdf files from a website i cannot save the document.  I don't get an error message, it just does not open.

Have you tried capturing these application in separate packages?  I have been successful in capturing IE8 in one package and Adobe Reader XI in another package and then using the OptionalAppLinks option in the IE8 package to point to the Adobe Reader dat file.  Just make sure that both packages work outside of the applinking.  Also, you can try to install Adobe to the native machine and see if the embedded pdfs work in the virtual IE package.
These are just the troubleshooting steps that I would take to narrow down what is causing the issue you are seeing.

  • Is there any way to find text highlighted in adobe reader and automatically copy it to comment boxes?

If I use a pdf highlighted in Adobe Reader (metro) in another PDF reading program, one with functionality to retrieve and list various annotations on the PDF, it simply finds "sticky note" as Adobe Reader highlights the text but fails to copy and paste it into a 'highlight' comment box. I intend to use another program with this feature automatic, from this point forward, but is there any way I can retroactively and automatically do this same task to all the other work I've done with Adobe Reader? It is, as I understand, a standard function of PDF annotation.
Of course, ideally, I would also like this to be automatic in the future, as the Adobe Reader Metro App is generally well-designed, touch-interface wise. But this lacking feature makes finding my comments a much greater hassle than it should be (as I can see where I highlighted, but not what without traveling directly to the page)
Also on a side note, I apparently can't delete a sticky note from within the app, what the hell

You cannot enforce something like that. You have some options when the field is set up to allow rich text formatting, but the user can always change it.

  • Internet Explorer 8 with Adobe Reader 11 in one package - embedded PDF problem

    Hello,
I am trying to package Internet Explorer 8 together with Adobe Reader 11 in ThinApp 5 for Windows 7. I am capturing on clean Windows XP with IE6. Of course, I am using "IEShims.dll" for IE8 in order to make it work in ThinApp.
From the first look everything is ok, both application could be launched, but there are several issues:
    1) When I try to open embedded PDF file, IE hangs and loses response. I have found workaround for this: Adobe Reader should be opened at least 1 time before opening embedded PDF files. But I have found 2nd issue.
    2) Print button does not work. When I try to print embedded PDF from Adobe Reader instance, it does not work. Documents could be printed from virtual IE8 and from separate instance of Adobe Reader.
What could you advise me? Are there any "small" tricks and tweaks that may help me with this?
    Thank you in advance!

  • Adobe Reader XI 'Save As' creating blank pdfs

    Hi All,
I am using an application from which a report is generated as a PDF file using Component One - VSReport, VSPrinter and VSPDF.
This report PDF is automatically created in a shared folder and it is displayed once it is created.
I can do 'Save As' and create a local copy.
    1. Adobe Reader Settings were: Enable Protected Mode At Start Up > Disabled and Enhanced Protection (Protection Renforcee in French) selected.
Saved local copies are coming as blank.
    2. I fixed this by changing from Disabled to All Files for Enable Protected Mode At Start Up.
This created the correct copy. But if I try to open this copy using Internet Explorer, security error is coming:
les paramètres de sécurité actuels ne vous permettent pas de télécharger ce fichier
I am using French machine and the english translation is: the current security settings do not allow you to download this file
If I right click on the copy and take Properties, unblock button is present and if I unblock manually it is accessable from Internet Explorer.
But I need this copy to be unlocked after Save As.
    3. If I uncheck the 'Enable protected mode at start up', copy created using 'Save As' is not blocked.
But after Save As, below errors are thrown:
         French:
         donnees insuffisantes pour une image
cette page contient une erreur. acrobat risque de ne pas afficher cette page correctement. contactez l'auteur du document PDF pour resoudre le probleme
         English Translation
         insufficient data for an image
This page contains an error. Acrobat may not display this page correctly. contact the author of the PDF document to solve the problem
Please help with Adobe Reader XI settings.
It has been given like Insufficient data for an image is fixed in Adobe Reader XI, but not at all.
