Transfer bought apps between macs

I'm thinking about getting a new mac but I have a lot of purchased apps on my current mac. Will I be able to transfer those apps without having to pay for them again?

Whatever apps you bought with your Apple ID are yours to install on all your Macs.
It is a better idea to download them on each Mac, rather than attempt to transfer or copy them from one to another, which may or may not work.

If the apps were downloaded from the App Store, you can re download on all your other authorized Macs for free.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

  • Can I share Apps between Macs on the same Home Network?

I tried to do this today by trying to import an App that my wife bought for her Mac. the system went as far as importing the app, but then when I went to try and open it the machine told me that I didn't have the authorization permissions to use the app on my machine.
what I'm wondering is whether that message has to do with the security settings on our network or computers or whether it is coming from the Mac App Store itself. Does anybody know? Is it possible, in the first place, to share Mac Store apps between computers with different user IDs on the same homw network?

Funny thing was I did all that before trying to 'share' said app. That was why I was befuddled by the error message. I'm still not sure why I got it. Second time thru I added the Mac App Store to 'allowing incomming connections' under security preferences, then tried it again and it worked fine. I'm not convinced though that that had anything to do with why it worked on the second go round. I like to understand why these things work and why they sometimes don't, so I'm still a little mystified. But..... now it works. I installed Keynote, Pages, and a whole host of other apps off of my wife's Mac App Store page on my Mac with no hiccup at all. *Big Smile*

  • How to transfer purchased apps from Mac to iPhone

    Hello,
I purchased some college apps on my mac book and I need to this programs on my iPhone too.I read all discussions about that and did everything but not success about that.My iTunes doesnt see the purchase programs on my computer.
    Thank You,

You have to log into iPhone App Store and purchase the iPhone version of the apps. Mac apps only run on Macs, iOS apps only run on iPhone/iPads/iPods.

  • Transfer Podcast Subscriptions Between Macs?

I've got to put my MacBook Pro in the shop for a few days, so I'm going to be using my old PowerBook while it is gone (it runs OS X 10.5.8). Is there any way I could transfer just my podcast subscriptions between the two Macs so I can keep listening to my programs (approximately 45 of them) while the MacBook Pro is gone?
Thanks for any recommendations you can give!

Didn't get any help with the question.

Got new L925 today but just cannot figure it out how to transfer applications which I have bought to my old L800. Anyone solved this?

@Allu71 Hello. Welcome to the forum.
You need to set up the same Microsoft account on the new phone. After this, you may go to the Windows Phone Store on the web > Purchase history > Reinstall. You can have more info here: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/how-to/wp8/apps/download-apps-and-games-faq

  • Itunes doesn't transfer bought apps

    ok, i'm on 10.10.3 and itunes 12.1.2
I bought a flashcard app a while ago, and when I wanted to update, and sync I get a msg saying that the ipad mini couldn't be synced, cause the computer isn't authorized anymore for the bought items. Adding I have to authorize this computer.
So I did from the menu, I'm getting : this computer is one of five autorized.
But I'm still getting the same error msg when syncing, even when relaunching itunes and rebooting...
I don't remember whether I bought the app with another apple ID, but I'm quite lost now as how to get the app working...
    Thanks for any help

    Hey heusnie,
The article linked below details how to determine what Apple ID your app was purchased under (substitute 'purchased app' for 'purchased song' in the steps under 'Authorize your purchases with the correct account name').
If iTunes repeatedly prompts you to authorize you computer

  • Transfer Printer configuration between Macs

    Hi all,
I had to configure a computer with 32 printers.
Now I have to the same with another 200 computers running 10.3 and 10.4.
I was wondering if anyone knows if is there any other way rather than going computer by computer configuring all the 32 printers. That would take ages and it is not an option.
Print server option would not work for me either.
Basically I was thinking on taking the relevant printer configuration files from the computer that has already been configured and transfer them to each of the other new computers. By doing that I hope to get the new computers configured upon restart. Now I just need to find out which ones are the right files. Does anyone know?
    Thanks in advance
    John

Never mind.(and I was wrong. Since Tiger came out and Apple changed the structure of the forums it has moved.)
It appears that Greg has answered your question on the Tiger forum in the printing and faxing section.
I still think that there may be an issue with the addressing of the printers but try it on a few computers to find out.
The folder that you need to access is invisible and will not show up in the finder. If you use the search function (not the little window in a finder window) and add "search visibility both visible and invisible" and enter the folder name "/cups/printers.config" it will show you the folder that you need to get to.
Good luck. I wouldn't want to map out 32 printers for 200 macs either.

  • Transfer data files between macs?

I want to transfer a large data folder 10+ GB from my MB to a MB Pro. Both on 10.7.5. But Airdrop does not show up on the MB; maybe wireless card is too old. Should I use FireWire? Blue Tooth? I can't find instructions in Mac Help how to do it.

Are they both on a network (the same network)? If so, you can just use File Sharing over either wifi or ethernet. The ethernet connection will almost certainly be faster.

  • Transfer photo library between macs

I am trying to move a large photo library(34 GB) from my macbook air to iMac. Any ideas what is the most efficient way? I have got the Time Machine backing up both. I tried a few times to airdrop the library but 'transfer failed'. I have tried to access macbook air on iMac using time capsule but when I click on macbook disk, it says 'resource temporarily unavailable' . So frustrating..
Could one of you please tell me what is the quickest way?
    Thanks

Could one of you please help me with this? Desperate for advice re above!!

  • Transferring photo album between Macs

I've created a photo book on my husbands mac (iMac G5), and wish to move it to mine (G4 Powerbook) in order to finish working on it. I currently have the correct album, but can't figure out how to transfer the actual book file to my mac.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi Design&Conquer,
There is no way easy way to transfer a book between Macs. The reason is because the book info is in a data file, there is no hard copy of it in the Finder. You can copy your entire iPhoto Library folder to your PB and open it on the PB and finish working on your book there. You can also follow the next suggestion from Old Toad on backing up the book, which will give you a library with just the images from the book and the data files, which you can then copy over to your PB and work on it there.
You would use the Option launch to navigate to the book library and open it. You also might have to change the permissions of the iPhoto Library folder to you. Instructions for both will follow after Old Toads info:
    Backing up an iPhoto book
This is a method that was suggested by Old Toad, our iPhoto forums guru:
    Close iPhoto
-If you have enough room on your hard drive duplicate the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder by highlighting it and hitting Command D.
-Launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed until you see the message window. Choose to open another library and navigate to the duplicate library and highlight it and click "open"
-Now delete all photos that are not in your book or that you are not planning to use in your book. Empty iPhoto's trash often so as to to have iPhoto choke on too many images to delete.
-Once you have just the photos you want to use in the book and everything is running fine, close that library.
-Each time before you open the book library you might want to duplicate that library in the Finder to have a safe copy to use if the book library crashes on you and you lose the work on your book.
In the future, you can File>export all the photos you want to use in the next book to a folder on the desktop.
Create a new book library by launching iPhoto with the Option key depressed and choosing to create a new library. Name the library after the book you are going to make.
Follow the same procedure above to make duplicate copies of the book library before you do any major work on the book.
When you launch iPhoto holding down the Option key this is the window you will get.
Create a new library or choose a library to open
Choose to create a new library if that is what you want to do, or choose a library to open by clicking the "choose" button.
If you click the "create library" iPhoto will open with a brand new library for you to import images to. If you click "choose" then you will get this window.
    Open library
Navigate to where the library is on your computer, highlight it, then clcik the "open" button.
Get info on the iPhoto Library folder

  • Importing and sharing iPhone apps between computers. (legal?)

I have several computers. Is it legal to transfer iPhone apps between computers using thumb drives or SD memory cards?
    Thanks!

This shouldn't be a problem as long as you are using the same iTunes account with another computer.
The problem is in regards to iTunes content including apps - iTunes content can be synced or transferred to an iPhone from a single computer only.
If you try to sync your iPhone with iTunes content on another computer, the iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased first before the content will be re-transferred to your iPhone - even when using the same iTunes account, so I'm not sure what would be gained by doing this unless you want to start using another computer for syncing iTunes content with.
