Transfer collection from one computer to another?

I accumulate many gigabytes of images on RV trips ... and download them to a laptop, with backup to external HD ... all through Lightroom.
Then I do a triage and add tons of metadata to the images.
The question is, how do I get these images --- WITH metadata -- onto my desktop computer in Lightroom?

So here I am with 100 GB of images on my laptop ... all with metadata attached ... and I connect my external HD ... please fill in the steps until the last step that you so kindly showed with a screen shot.
It really isn't much different to importing the photos from the camera or memory card. I am assuming that you already have a catalog created on your desktop computer.
1. Launch Lightroom
2. Ensure external disk drive is connected.
3. Choose Import from disk (File menu)
4. Lightroom will open the Import Photos dialog as shown in screenshot
5. Select folder(s) that you want to import and hit Choose button
6. Lightroom will open the Import window
7. Choose the location were you want the photos to be copied to.

Welcome to the forum.
I can think of three basic ways to accomplish what you wish to do:
Use the Project Archiver to archive your Project (and check the box to gather the media files), to an external HDD. Probably the easiest way to do it.
Copy the Project and ALL media files to an external HDD, but be prepared to relink the media files to the Project, as the drive letter (part of the Absolute Path) will have changed.
Edit loosely, and Share to an AV file, which will be Imported into a New Project on that second computer. Or, edit VERY tightly, and do the same. I like the first, as removing, replacing Transitions, etc., can be much more difficult, unless that "tight edit" is 100% done.

This really depends on how technical you want to get, and how much of the library data you want to retain. First, there is getting the actual song files over to your new computer. If both computers are on the same network and are on iTunes 9, you can use home sharing to transfer the song files to your new computer.
Once the files are transferred, now you have to get all of the metadata transferred, like Playlists and Song Ratings. There is a method for doing this that involves editing your Library.xml file to transfer Playlists, Playcounts, etc..
If all you want to transfer is your Playlists and song files, there are programs that will back up your playlists so you can transfer them to a new computer, but if you're able to do the above XML edits (which are pretty simple), that is preferred (and cheaper).

Besides, you don't hold down cmd/apple+"T" on the target computer - just the "T" key.

I dont know if you have your music on your other computer was on itunes, but if it was, make sure that you signed into your itunes account on your other computer. If you are signed in then your music should show up in your library.

you are allowed two installations and activations with each single user license.
just use your installation cds and your serial number to install on your new computer.
if you no longer need cs6 on your old computer or that old computer has your 2nd installation/activation, open one of the adobe programs and click help>deactivate. you can then uninstall from your old computer.

If there's a lot of stuff in the library you're transferring from, the transfer may take some time.

Yes, you can move the hard drive physically from one machine to another provided you are placing it as a secondary drive in the new machine. You can connect to the transferred library by holding down shift as you start iTunes, then browsing to the relevant folder and opening the iTunes Library.itl file inside. You may however want to reorgnize the drive if you're disposing of the old machine as its system files etc. will be redunant. In this case I suggest you move the iTunes folder to the root of the drive before you connect to the library. You should also deauthorise the old machine before you dismantle it.
Ideally you should take a backup of your library before you start just in case something goes wrong. See this User Tip.for a suggested technique. Works with external drive or network shares.
